Chapman of Cuba, Missouri was born May 27, 1940 at St. James, Missouri to George and Virginia (nee Adair) Williams and passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the age of 75 years. Florence was united in marriage to Harold Chapman at Holy Cross Catholic Church on October 20, 1958 and to this union three children were born. Florence was a devout member of Holy Cross Catholic Church her entire life and went to grade school at Holy Cross. She spent hours and hours making rosaries and recorded making 10,600 in her book. Florence enjoyed fishing, putting puzzles together, cooking and in her younger years horseback riding. Florence and Harold was the last surviving member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis of Assisi. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Virginia Williams; sister, Rose Mary and husband Jerry Ross; and sister-in-law, Marilyn L. Guy. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harold Chapman of the home; three children, James and wife Dee Anna Chapman of Cuba, Missouri, Theresa and husband John Breese of Cuba, Missouri and Debbie and husband Tom Stogsdill of Gordonsville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Ashley and husband Tommy Schmelz, Alisha Chapman, Jessica and husband Jessie Spurgeon, Jason Whitworth, Dalton Stogsdill and Morgan Stogsdill; three great grandchildren Chase Schmelz, Chasidy Schmelz and Ellie Spurgeon; two brothers, Jim and wife June Williams of Fort Myers, Florida and Morris and wife Lois Williams of Holts Summit, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri. Celebration of Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Rich Boever as the celebrant. Sharman Dubar Sherman Dubar of Cuba, Missouri was born to Eulis and Juanita (Ross) Dubar on June 14, 1946 in Brighton, Arkansas and passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the age of 69 years. Sherman was united in marriage to Ella Jean Tate on December 24, 1967 in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union one son was born. Sherman retired after working as an Assistant Manager at the Wal-Mart of Cuba, Missouri and later as the Manager at the Huddle House of Cuba, Missouri. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a lifetime member of Cuba VFW Post #7147. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eulis and Juanita Dubar; one sister, Neva Jean Hamlett; three brothers, Eulis "Whimpy" Dubar, Burnell Dubar and Gary Dubar; two infant siblings; one brother-in-law, Don Tate; one sister-in-law, Willa Reiger. He is survived by his wife, Ella Jean Dubar of Cuba, Missouri; one son, Sherman Dubar and partner Todd Mortvedt of St. Louis, Missouri; nine brothers and sisters, Legurita Hartle, Jerry "Sonny Boy" Dubar, Alice Jackson, Ginny Mae Langley, Robert Dubar, Lavern Chilland, Brenda Ball, Glenda Manning, Linda Keating; other relatives and friends. Gargus of St. James, Missouri was born in Belgrade, Missouri on January 4, 1925 to John A. and Mary K. (Woodmansee) Gargus and passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the age of 91 years. Robert served during WWII with the United States Army from 1943-1946. He served as a Corporal with the Central Military Intelligence in New Delhi, India. He married Ruby Norris, on April 6, 1947. Robert was a longtime member of the Solid Rock Christian Church in St. James, Missouri. He loved the outdoors and spent countless hours fishing with family and friends. By this time he had grandchildren and he especially loved spending every moment he could fishing, and tinkering in his work shop. He also enjoyed gardening and flower gardens, but most importantly were the big vegetable gardens that he so looked forward to each spring. He was always so proud to share his bounty of fresh vegetables with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Gargus; brothers, Ralph, and Virgil Gargus; sisters, Maxine, Virginia and Joyce; and two infant brothers. Hammonds of Sullivan, Missouri was born on August 22, 1931 to Charles M. and Minnie (Farrell) Hammonds in Sligo, Missouri and passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the age of 84 years. On March 7, 1992 he was united in marriage to Edna M. Ziegler at Leasburg, Missouri. Charles was employed as a mechanic for a time but mostly as a commercial truck driver for several companies in the area. He loved spending time with his large family and in his free time enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, trading trucks, attending auctions and rodeos. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Minnie Hammonds; and three grandchildren. Ada Ruth Maxfield Ada Ruth Maxfield (nee Markley) of Cuba, Missouri was born to William and Zora (Chewning) Markley on September 18, 1917 in Jakes Prairie, Missouri and passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at the age of 98 years. During the depression Ada worked at the Southern Hotel in Cuba, Missouri and later during the World War II at the Small Arms Plant in St. Louis making bullets. In 1946 she married Raymond Maxfield and they moved to a farm north of Cuba. Before retiring to care for her mother and husband, she worked for Convy Heel Co. for over 17 years. ÊÊÊ Ada was a Project Leader for the Oak Hill 4-H Club, a member of the Cuba Ladies Bowling Assoc. and the Presbyterian Mariners Club. She loved flower gardening, being the family pie baker, watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, being outdoors and her dog Poodle. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Zora Markley; husband, Ray Maxfield; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil and wife Edith/Gerry, Dallas, Charles and wife Helen Markley, Dallas Markley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doras and husband Ed Jennings, Mildred and husband Sodo Moschetto; brother-in-law, Eugene and wife Eunice Maxfield, sisters-in-law, Margie and husband Don Hazelwood, Marie and husband Milton Forrester; nephews Robert Markley and Richard Forrester. Banjamin Wayne Toddy Benjamin Wayne Toddy, formerly of St. James, Missouri, was born to Terry and Malisa Walker Toddy on February 24, 1995 and passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the age of 21 years. Benjamin aspired to build a strong character through integrity and honesty. ÊHe encouraged the ones around him to develop those same character traits. He was witty with a touch of sarcasm. He and his sister, Rebekah, liked to watch comedies; they had a talent of connecting the funniest scenes in Êthese movies to every day happenings. He brought lots of laughter to those around him. He was adventurous, loved hiking outdoors and gigging. He was a devoted weight lifter. He was pursuing a degree in criminal justice at the University of Central Missouri- Warrensburg. He also worked with his brother, Stephen in Stephen Lawn Service. ÊHe joined the National Guard three years ago. He served in Afghanistan as a combat engineer. ÊHe received the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device and NATO Medal. He was currently serving in the National Guard Reserves. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Willa Dean Walker; grandfather, Terry Toddy Sr. and cousin, Brittany Walker.
