Lenora Geraldine Alexander
Lenora Geraldine Alexander nee Crabtree of Steelville, Missouri was born
in Courtois, Missouri on Saturday, January 11, 1919 to Carac Alvin and
Emma Elizabeth (Turnbough) Crabtree and passed away at Gibbs Care Center,
Steelville, Missouri on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the age of 94 years,
1 month and 13 days.
In 1942, Geraldine moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she was employed
with Mines Equipment and Boulder Electric working with communication
cables and checking communication lines.
She married Joseph F. Alexander in Steelville, Missouri. They continued
to live and work in St. Louis until purchasing their farm on the Courtois
River in 1957.
Geraldine was a tireless partner alongside Joe with the farm activities by
raising large vegetable gardens and helping her family and friends. She
enjoyed being outdoors, growing flowers, watching the wildlife and birds.
Her love of the outdoors continued at Gibbs Care Center where her favorite
summer activity was enjoying the flower garden. Her favorite winter
activity was watching the birds and squirrels visiting the bird feeders.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carac and Emma Crabtree; husband,
Joseph; three infant brothers; one brother, Orville (Lucille) Crabtree;
sister, Eunice (Harry) Wood, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jake
Adams, Harold Turnbough, Delma (Kenneth) Martin, Ray (Koradine) Alexander
and Noel (Dollie) Alexander.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Crabtree and Bud Caringer, Connie
and Bill Cape, all of Steelville, Missouri; grandson, Travis A. Cape of
University City, Missouri; sisters, Jennie Bernice Adams of Viburnum,
Missouri and Minnie Mae Turnbough of St. Louis, Missouri; other relatives
and friends.
Visitation was Friday, March 1, 2013 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and funeral
service at 1 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with
Pastor Jerry Beers officiating.
Burial was at the Alexander-Kreamalmeyer Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri.

Ronald Earl Ambrose
Ronald Earl Ambrose of Cuba, Missouri was born to Walter C. and Jane P.
(Link) Ambrose on May 25, 1937 in Ellsinore, Missouri and passed away
Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan,
Missouri at the age of 75 years.
Ron retired from the City of St. Louis after 20 plus years of service in
the Refuge Department. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force
and was a member of V.F.W. Post #7147 in Cuba. He enjoyed fishing, duck
hunting and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Jane Ambrose; wife,
Alice Ambrose; one brother, William C. Ambrose and one son, John Cox.
He is survived by his two children, Linda Howard and Kenny Cox, both of
St. Louis, Missouri; three sisters, Sylvia and husband John Stone of Santa
Maria, California; Jewell Walther of Ellsinore, Missouri, Mary Ellen and
husband Byron Cralley of Palm Desert, California; one daughter-in-law,
Connie Cox of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren, J.R. Howard, Erin,
Brian and Kenny Cox; three great grandchildren, Kenadee, Gage and Libby;
companion, Debra Atwell and her family of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives
and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service with full military honors and interment will
be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Chapel of Jefferson
Barracks National Cemetery.

Mary Lou Page Andrews
Mary Lou Page Andrews, formerly of Sullivan, Missouri was born
October 11, 1927 in the Marshfield, Missouri area to F.W. and Alta
(Hutchins) Smith and passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in
Springfield, Missouri at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 9 days.
She was raised in that area and at the age of 15 came to Sullivan, Missouri
to make her home. She was an employee of the former PACO plant in Sullivan
and later worked in the fabric department at Wal-Mart from where she
retired.
On October 19, 1946 she was united in marriage to Ralph Page. He preceded
her in death on November 11, 2010. She later married Jim Andrews on
June 19, 2011 and made their home in the Springfield, Missouri area.
Mary Lou enjoyed caring for people and would do anything for anyone in need
of help. She volunteered for a time with Meals-On-Wheels and loved her
many animals.
She is survived by a son, Rick Page and wife Celesta of New Bloomfield,
Missouri; three daughters, Terri Sappington and husband Bob of Sullivan,
Missouri, Rene’ Cuneio and husband John of Sullivan, Missouri and Valerie
Woolsey and husband John of Steelville, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 24 great
grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A memorial gathering was held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 1-2:30 p.m. at
the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
There was no funeral service.

Katherine “Kitty Lou” Arcand
Katherine “Kitty Lou” Arcand nee McCormick of Irondale, Missouri was born to
Oscar John and Virgie Idella Martin McCormick in Holden, Missouri on
Wednesday, January 31, 1934 and passed away on Monday, February 25, 2013
in Irondale, Missouri at the age of 79 years and 25 days.
Katherine was a Certified Medical Assistant and had been employed at Gibbs
Care Center in Steelville, Missouri for 10 years then later at Mineral Area
Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed playing the piano, watching the
St. Louis Cardinal ball team, quilting, sewing, working in her flower and
vegetable gardens, shopping at yard sales and antique stores.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Chuck McCormick and Jimmy
McCormick and sister, Norma (Bill) Murch.
She is survived by her children, Charles “Skip” Hajek, Jr., Vicky (William)
Weber, all of Steelville, Missouri, Pamela Kay Reed of Terre-Du-Lac,
Missouri and Gregory G. (Judy Hudson) Hajek of Irondale, Missouri; sister,
Patricia Kelly of Columbia, Missouri; brother, Robert (Amy) McCormick of
Middleton, Indiana; sister-in-law, Veronica McCormick of Heber Springs,

Rosella “Rose” B. Bailey, nee Midyett, of Steelville, Missouri was born
August 10, 1929 in Viburnum to Corby Lawrence and Dora Ann Medley Midyett
and passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at St. Clare Health Center in
Fenton.
On August 5, 1949 in Salem, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to
Thomas J. Bailey and to this union three sons were born.
Rose attended the United Baptist Church outside Steelville, Missouri. She
enjoyed keeping busy gardening, raising flowers, yard work and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Corby and Dora Midyett; her
husband, Tom; siblings, Cecil Midyett, Velma Bailey, Gladyne Neuman, Lloyd
Midyett and Carol McMillan.
She is survived by her three sons, Bruce Bailey and wife Joyce of Cuba,
Missouri, Rick Bailey and wife Trina and Tim Bailey, all of Steelville,
Missouri; seven grandchildren, Marcia Fields, Tonya Elliott and husband
Bobby, Luke Bailey, Benjamin Bailey and wife Tiffany, Rusty Bailey and
wife Leslie, Adam Bailey and wife Amber and Sammi Lehto and husband Josh;
nine great grandchildren, Alex, Peyton, Emma, Austin, Baylee, Curtis, Jacob,

Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Elder Tracy White
officiating and granddaughter Marcia Fields reading the obituary. Special
music of “Let’s Meet by the River,” “In the Garden” and “Camping in
Canaan’s Land” was played. A special poem of memories was read by
granddaughter Tonya Elliott and written by her husband Bob Elliott.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery at
Viburnum, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Luke Bailey, Ben Bailey, Rusty Bailey, Adam Bailey,
Kevin Midgett, Gary Lynn Midyett, Joey Midgett and Bryan Midgett with
honorary casket bearers, Bobby Elliott, Josh Lehto and Joey Larrison.

Rawleigh H. Baldwin
Rawleigh H. Baldwin of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, December 27, 1935 at
Charter Oak, Missouri to Arzie and Birdie (nee Barnett) Baldwin and passed
away Monday, February 25, 2013 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 77 years.
Rawleigh was united in marriage of Lillian Pauline Breece on May 4, 1957 in
Tupelo, Mississippi and to this union two sons were born.
Rawleigh proudly served in the United States Army from January 6, 1954 till
July 30, 1956 and completed his time with the United States Army Reserves on
March 31, 1962. He retired in 1978 from Gordon’s Transportation in St. Louis
after 21 years of working on the dock. He was a member of the Teamsters Local
#600. After retirement he went to work for the Missouri Department of
Conservation for three years. Once being truly retired Rawleigh stayed
home on the farm, where he worked in his garden, taking care of the yard,
landscaping and spending time outside.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arzie and Birdie Baldwin; two
sisters, Mary “Sis” Swinger and Polly; three brothers, Albert “Dick” and wife
Hazel Baldwin and Arzie Baldwin, Jr. and Harold Baldwin.
He is survived by his wife, Polly Baldwin of the home; two sons, Robert “Bob”
and wife Kim Baldwin and Rod Baldwin, all of Cuba, Missouri; one grandson,
Chad and wife Denise Baldwin of Union, Missouri; two great grandchildren,
Jack and Faith Baldwin of Union, Missouri; one sister, Saunie and husband
Randy Breece of Jackson, Missouri; three brothers, Bill and wife Becky
Baldwin of Charter Oak, Missouri, Ronnie and wife Irene Baldwin of Benton,

Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri with “In the Sweet By and By” and
“Go Rest High on that Mountain” as special music.
Interment, prayers and full military honors followed at the Kinder
Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

Paula Darlene Brewer nee Haffer of Collinsville, Illinois was born on
Wednesday, August 5, 1953 in Steelville, Missouri to Claude and Marple
Leona Beers Haffer and passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the
age of 59 years, 6 months and 18 days.
Paula married Keith Brewer on July 20, 1996 in Collinsville, Illinois.
She had most recently worked as a bank teller at Regions Bank. Her hobbies
were watching NASCAR, reading cookbooks, decorating her home for the
holidays, shopping at thrift stores and yard sales or piddling around.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Marple Haffer;
husband, Herman Brewer; an infant brother; brother, Marvin Haffer;
sister-in-law, Cletta Haffer and nephew, Billy Haffer.
She is survived by her husband, Keith Brewer of Collinsville, Illinois;

Utah “John” Carlton Cassidy
Utah “John” Carlton Cassidy formerly of Steelville, Missouri, was born
May 4, 1941 to Carson Columbus and Edna Viola (Decker) Cassidy and passed
away February 6, 2013 at the age of 71 years.
He accepted the Lord as his Savior on January 31, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carson and Edna Cassidy and wife,
Margaret Faye Cassidy.
He is survived by his daughters, Tina Maloney and husband Gene, Carla
Cassidy and Jeanie Ward and husband Jason; sisters-in-law, Virginia Gehlert,

Octava Jean “Jeannie” Freeman
Octava Jean “Jeannie” Freeman of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, formerly of
Salem, Missouri, was born in Bakersfield, California on April 24, 1940 to
Wilbur and Opal (Buckner) Merrell and passed away February 4, 2013 in
Mountain Home, Arkansas after a brief illness, at the age of 72 years.
Jeannie was united in marriage to Billy Wayne Freeman on July 28, 1978.
She brought four children and he brought seven.
Jeanne and Bill loved to travel and having children living all across the
US they could go just about anywhere. They were especially thrilled when a
new grandbaby was on the way, they called it a “travel bonus.” She and Bill
were especially proud that in the early 80’s they had six children serving
in the United States Military.
Jeannie was an avid golfer. She enjoyed fishing, an occasional road trip to
Tunica, and most important, her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Opal Merrell; daughter,
Maryann Freeman Spivey.
She is survived by her husband Bill of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; children,
Lorri Saracini and husband Tom of Hot Springs, Arkanas, Connie James and

Dan Walter Hawley
Dan Walter Hawley of St. James, Missouri was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on
July 26, 1960 to Richard and Iona (Blickenstaff) Hawley and passed away
Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the age of 52 years.
On June 12, 1999 he married Melissa Weinstein.
Dan earned a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from UMR, now MS&T.
He worked as a chemical engineer for Brewer Science in Rolla for the past 25
years.
Dan had served as a Lieutenant for the St. James Volunteer Fire Dept. He was
also a member of the Master Gardener’s Organization.
He was preceded in death by his father , Richard Hawley.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Hawley of the home; his mother, Iona
Hawley of Valparaiso, Nebraska; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Stan and
Linda Williams of Newburg, Missouri; stepdaughter, Sam Jokisch of St. James,
Missouri; two daughters, Kayla and Rachel Hawley of Springfield, Missouri;
one sister, Eva Schroer and husband Bruce of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; a
brother, Jay Hawley of Alaska; nieces and nephew, Casa and Cameron and

Herbert Dale Light of St. James, Missouri was born on April 26, 1940 in
Calico Rock, Izard County, Arkansas to James Rector and Alice Cordelia
(Deavers) Light and passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Rolla,
Missouri at the age of 72 years and 10 months.
He was united in marriage to Karen Colleen Dwinell on April 12, 1959 in
Willow Springs, Missouri.
He was a cabinet builder for many years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Colleen Light; one son, Thomas
Ray Light; mother, Alice Cordelia (Deavers) Light; father, James Rector
Light; two brothers, James William Light and Johnie Lee Light; and one
sister, Violet Marie Light.
He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Jean Pankey and husband Donald
Eugene, Sandra Ann Parsons and husband Ronald Charles, Lola Denise Juern
and husband Kenneth, all of St. James, Missouri; one son, James Dale Light

Ashley Michelle Logan of Bland, Missouri was born in Columbia, Missouri on
November 2, 1995 to Richard Hooper and Evora Logan and passed away suddenly
on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the age of 17 years.
She was a sophomore attending the Belle High School.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Kester Hooper.
Her survivors include her mother, Evora Logan and fiancé Wayne Hubenthal of
Bland, Missouri; father, Richard Hooper and fiancé Carol Wintgen of Cuba,
Missouri; grandparents, Gayla Branson and husband Michael of Rosebud,
Missouri and Rose Hooper of Cuba, Missouri; brother, Danny Reynolds of
Bland, Missouri; sister, Amanda Cartwright of Hannibal, Missouri;
stepbrothers, Christopher Wintgen of Cuba, Missouri, William Williams and
Joe Williams both of Cuba, Missouri and Cody Hubenthal of Washington,
Missouri; and stepsisters, Crystal William and Ashley Williams both of Cuba,
Missouri, Brittany Brawley of Potosi, Missouri and Laura Hubenthal of
Union, Missouri.
Her body was cremated and services are pending.

Robert Matthews of St. James, Missouri was born April 4, 1927 in Vienna,
Missouri to Ernest Kyle and Laura (Elrod) Matthews and passed away
Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center
in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 85 years.
Robert was united in marriage to Theresa Reinwald on July 30, 1949 and to
this union four children were born. Robert and Theresa celebrated 63 years
of marriage in 2012.
Robert worked in the construction industry his entire working life. He was
also a custom steel guitar maker. He enjoyed being the “master chef” at the
family barbeques and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Robert was a member of the Kingdom Hall in St. James, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Laura Matthews; his
brothers, Gene, Jimmy, Don and Buell Mathews; sisters, Pearl Evens, Virgie
Bailey and Belve Matthews.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa of St. James, Missouri; children, Linda
Peachy of St. James, Missouri, Brenda Chambers and husband Don of Vichy,
Missouri, Ken Matthews and wife Sue of St. James, Missouri; Shelia Matthews

November 13, 1927 to John and Laura (Danuse) Gehlert and passed away Friday,

of 85 years.
On September 26, 1947 in Bland, Missouri she was united in marriage to
Manford T. White.
She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Church in Bland, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manford; son, Terry White;
granddaughter, Megan Johnson; son-in-law, Calvin Steinbeck; brothers,
Alfred, Tom, Lee, Conrad and Charles Gehlert; and sister, Faye White.
She is survived by her children, Janet Steinbeck of Jefferson City, Missouri

He served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean War
and was a bookkeeper for the St. Louis Post Dispatch.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Wodicker; daughters, Debra Dessau and
husband Richard of St. Louis, Missouri and Laura Shockley and husband Keith
of Cuba, Missouri; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
His body was cremated and no services are planned at this time.
Arrangements under the direction of the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home,
Owensville, Missouri.
Calvin “Cab” T. Wright
Calvin “Cab” T. Wright of St. James, Missouri, formerly of Steelville,
Missouri was born on November 18, 1928 to Lewy A. and Flossie Perkins Wright
and passed away February 28, 2013 at the age of 84 years, 3 months and
10 days.
Calvin lived most of his life in Crawford County in the Long Ridge Community
and attended the Long Ridge School.
As a young boy, Calvin began his employment at Chaumiere Farms in Steelville
where he worked until his retirement at age 62.
For the past several years he had lived with his sister, Jane and her husband
Ed in St. James, Missouri.
Calvin was a very humble and caring person who never met a stranger. He loved
his family and his church and always looked forward to meeting with them.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and always looked forward when the
season started and could watch the games on TV or had the opportunity to
attend a game.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewy and Flossie Wright; one sister
Gladine Wright; and one nephew.
He is survived by two brothers, Edwin E. Wright and wife Faye of Rogersville,
Missouri and John W. Wright of St. James, Missouri; one sister, Jane Clinton
and husband Ed of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Baumann
officiating and Stephen Brubaker reading the obituary.
Special music of “In the Sweet By and By” and “How Great Thou Art” was sung
by Stephen Brubaker and accompanied on piano by Jeanette Ashley. Memories
were shared by Gary Hardecke, Stephen Brubaker and Marsha Glosemeyer.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery,
Steelville, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Travis Clinton, Brad Clinton, George Adams, Gary
Hardecke, Marty Page and Jim Marcellus.

Steelville, Missouri.
