James David Brown
James David Brown of Cuba, Mo. was born on June 20, 1947 at Washington, Mo.
to the union of Bernard Stanley Brown and Maxine Brown nee Kohrmann and
passed away February 25, 2000 at Cuba, Mo. at the age of 52 years, 8 months
and 5 days.
On January 27, 1968 David was united in marriage to Ellen Pinnell at
Owensville, Mo. Two sons, RJ and Donald, and two daughters, Melissa and
Maggie were born to this union. They have been happily married for 32
years.
David was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Stanley Brown, and one
granddaughter, Kylee Roddewig.
On February 17, 1966 David was inducted into the United States Marine Corps
and was honorably discharged on February 16, 1970. He served during the
Vietnam Conflict.
David was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Steelville, Mo., a
member of the Cuba American Legion and a member of Cuba Knights of
Columbus.
He worked at the Cuba Post Office for many years and ran his own heating
and air conditioning business.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his loving wife
Ellen Brown; two sons, RJ Brown and wife Veronica and Donald Brown and wife
Angela; two daughters Melissa Roddewig and husband Daryl and Maggie Brown;
mother Maxine Brown; father-in-law John Pinnell; three brothers Craig Brown
and wife Linda, Stanley Brown and wife Sharon, Brian Brown and wife Bobbi;
one sister Marsha Irby and husband Bob; 3 grandchildren, Ronald, Chelsea
and Gillian; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
David was a devoted husband, loving father, father-in-law, son, son-in-law,
brother, grandfather, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly
missed.
James David Brown was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
where an American Legion Service was held on Sunday, February 27, 2000 at
7:00 p.m. by the Cuba American Legion Post. Funeral Mass was held on
Monday, February 28, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Cuba, Mo.
with Father Bob Duesdieker officiating. Memorials to the Barnes Jewish MS
Research Foundation. All arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
Mary "Louise" Keener
Louise Keener, nee Hatch, was born Thursday, February 10, 1949 to Albert
Francis Hatch and Josephine Apaquash Hatch and departed this life Tuesday,
February 29, 2000 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio at the age
of 51 years and 19 days.
Louise married Robert M. Keener on October 11, 1968 in Sault Ste. Marie,
Michigan.
Louise is preceded in death by her father Albert Hatch.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her loving husband Bob of their
home in Fairborn, Ohio; two sons, Peter J. Keener and wife Diana of Eielson
Airforce Base in Alaska, and Robert M. Keener and wife Judy of Livonia,
Michigan; five grandchildren, Michael, Garrett, Devin, Helena, and Ryan
Keener; three sisters, Susan Manos and husband Connie of Centerville, Ohio,
Francis Fraler of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and Sally Hatch of Sault Ste.
Marie, Michigan; and her sister-in-law Juanita "Cooky" Lock of Steelville,
Mo.
Visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2000 at the
Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Mo.
Those serving as pallbearers were Peter Keener, Mike Keener, Connie Manos,
Albert Flaler, Phil Emmons and Bob Perkins. Bob Patterson was an honorary
pallbearer.
Graveside service was held Saturday, March 4, 2000 at the Steelville
Cemetery with Rev. Robert Duesdieker officiating.
Burial was in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Mo.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home in
Steelville, Mo.
Paul William Long II
Paul William Long II was born October 23, 1961 in Steelville, Mo. to Bill
and Helene Long, and passed away February 27, 2000 in Missouri Baptist
Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. at the age of 38 years, 4 months and 4 days.
Paul was in the graduating class of 1980 at Viburnum High School. Paul
lived in Crawford County all his life except for the time he served his
country in the United States Army where he achieved the rank of E3.
Paul married Brenda Gibson on June 22, 1985 in Davisville, Mo. and to this
union one son was born. He and Brenda made their home together in the
Cherryville area. Paul accepted the Lord early in life and he, Brenda and
Cody attended the Davisville Assembly of God Church.
Paul was a member of the AMVETS Post #124 in Davisville, Mo. and the
Congress of Independent Unions where he served as Shop Steward. He enjoyed
carving, fishing, hunting, especially turkey hunting; and will be
remembered as one who loved to tease and enjoy life.
Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents Clyde Pyatt, Paul and
Blanche Long, and his Uncle Mike Pyatt.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving wife and son, Brenda
and Cody Long of the home in Cherryville, Mo.; his parents, Bill and Helene
Long of Davisville, Mo.; his brother Scott Long and wife Lorie of Bismarck,
Mo.; his grandmother, Blanche Pyatt of Davisville, Mo.; father-in-law and
mother-in-law Paul and Bonnie Gibson of Belleview, Mo.
Brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Jim and Lorrie Gibson of Colorado
Springs, Colorado; Phyllis Gibson of Farmington, Mo.; Connie and Gary Scott
of Farmington, Mo.; Mark Gibson of Indiana; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,
cousins, other relatives and many friends, all who will sadly miss and
fondly remember Paul William Long II.
Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at
the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000 at the
Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Mo. with Rev. Ronnie McRaven
officiating. Jerry Beers sang Go Rest High on That Mountain and Amazing
Grace.
Those serving as Pallbearers were: Ronnie Pyatt, Jeff Pyatt, Steven Pyatt,
Brian Green, Kevin Green, and Daniel Evans. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers
were his Uncles, Clyde Pyatt, John Pyatt, Ron Pyatt, Richard Long, Jack
Randal, an Dave Frederich, also friend Terry Fragale.
Burial was in the Martin Cemetery, Cherryville, Mo.
Lisa Ann Muehlbach
Lisa Ann Muehlbach, nee Rausch, Baptised into the Hope of Christ's
Resurrection on Sunday, March 5, 2000. Loving wife of Michael J. Muehlbach.
Dear mother of Jason Z. and Michaela R. Muehlbach. Loving daughter of Betty
J. Rausch. Dear sister of Terry (Jean) Rausch, Danny Rausch, Linda (Bob)
Nesser, Stephen (Tracy) Rausch and the late Michael Rausch. Loving
sister-in-law of Marcia and the late Martin R. Muehlbach. Dear
daughter-in-law of Robert (Carolyn) Muehlbach and the late Judith
Muehlbach. Loving granddaughter of Stella Seeger. Our dear niece, aunt,
cousin and friend to many.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 10, 2000 from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at
John L Ziegenhein and Sons, 7027 Gravois. A Memorial Mass will be held
10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11 at St. Hedwig Church. Masses or in lieu of
flowers memorial donations may be made to the United Way of Greater St.
Louis.
Mary Hollan Smith
Mary Hollan Smith, nee Walls, of Hiawatha, Kansas (formerly of Cuba, Mo.)
was born on August 21, 1910 at Knobview, Mo. to the union of John Harvey
Walls and Lottie Walls nee Whitmire and passed away at Hiawatha, Kansas on
March 2, 2000 at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 11 days.
On November 11, 1945 Mary was united in marriage to Paul J. Smith at Cuba,
Mo. They were happily married until he preceded her in death on October 24,
1966.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, one daughter
Lottie Rosemary Bridges, six sisters Dorothy Ferguson, Mable Whittaker,
Lottie Mounts, Evelyn Mills, Jessie Thomlison, Bernice Clay, and five
brothers James Henry, John, George, Thomas, and Woodrow Walls.
Mary was a long time resident of Crawford County and moved to the Hiawatha,
Kansas area after her health started to fail to be near her children.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her loving
daughter Catherine A. Enke; 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 5
great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many
friends.
Mary was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
great-great-grandmother, sister, good friend to all who knew her and will
be sadly missed.
Mary Hollan Smith was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
where funeral services were held Monday, March 6, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. with
Rev. Roger Taber officiating. Interment was in the Lea Cemetery, Leasburg,
Mo. All arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of
Cuba, Mo.
Vivian A. Protte
Vivian A. Protte, nee Copling, of Cuba, Mo. was born on March 13, 1922 in
Kansas to the union of Noah Copling and Rosie Copling nee Warden and passed
away on March 2, 2000 at the Cuba Manor, Cuba, Mo. at the age of 77 years,
11 months and 19 days.
Vivian was united in marriage to William Protte at Steelville, Mo. They
were happily married until William preceded her in death on July 13, 1989.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son Edward Beal.
Vivian was a long time resident of Crawford County and a member of the Mt.
Olive Baptist Church.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her son Walter
Beal and wife Lois; two daughters Kathy McCormick and husband Garry and
Karen Land and Robert Eoff; two step-daughters Shirley Beal and Patricia
Worthen and husband Don; three brothers Ben Copling and wife Mary Lou,
Henry Copling and Leroy Copling and wife Marilyn; two sisters Artie
Eddleman and husband Perry and Bernice Hayes; 13 grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other
relatives and many friends.
Vivian was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
sister, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Vivian A. Protte nee Copling was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of
Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Saturday, March 4, 2000 at
2:00 p.m. with Henry Copling officiating. Interment was in the Lickcreek
Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements under the direction of the Britton
Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo.
Alma Anna Woods
Alma Anna Woods, nee King, was born on April 28, 1918 near Leasburg, Mo. to
Royal James King and Irene Ellis King, and passed away at Missouri Baptist
Hospital in Sullivan, Mo. on March 1, 2000 at the age of 81 years, 10
months and 2 days.
Alma was a life long resident of the Leasburg area. She attends grade
school at Valley School in Possum Hollow, and high school at Hinch. She
professed faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and was a member of Cross
Roads Baptist Church. She helped raise her younger brothers and sisters
after her mother died. On December 12, 1954 Alma married Roy Woods in Cuba,
Mo. Alma loved her own children and continued to "mother" her grandchildren
and many others. Roy preceded her in death on April 13, 1990.
In addition to her parents, and her dear husband, Roy, she was preceded in
death by three brothers, Edward, Wilbur, and Gene King; and one infant
grandson Bryon Keith Strauser.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her dear children, Dorothy Ray
and husband Harold of Potosi, Mo., Bob Thomas of Sullivan, Mo., Carolyn
Strauser and husband Bud of Springfield, Mo. and Misty Woods of
Mississippi; three brothers, James King and wife Golden of Bourbon, Mo.,
Alvin King and wife Ina of Sullivan, Mo., and Clarence King and wife
Dorothy of Sullivan, Mo.; five sisters, Ethel Boedy and husband Robert of
Fenton, Mo., Viola Sappington of Leasburg, Mo., Marie Adams of Sullivan,
Mo., Alice Ray of Fenton, Mo., and Betty Schaefer and husband Chuck of
Fenton, Mo.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Norma King of Bourbon,
Mo., Irene King of Leasburg, Mo., Joyce King of Sullivan, Mo., Everett and
Josephine Woods of Leasburg, Mo., Robert and Mary Woods of Lonedell, Mo.,
and Lucy Long of Sullivan, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren,
and one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many
friends, all who will sadly miss and fondly remember Alma Anna Woods.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 1, 2000 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at
Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Mo. from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cross
Roads Baptist Church in Leasburg, Mo. on Saturday, March 4, 2000.
Funeral Service was at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2000 at Cross Roads
Baptist Church at Leasburg, Mo. with Rev. Mike King officiating. The
congregation sang "Where We'll Never Grow Old" and "Sweet By and By."
Pallbearers wee Phillip King, Danny King, Andy Thomas, Mitch Ray, Kirk
Strauser, and Kelly King.
Burial was in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
All arrangements were under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba.
Melvin Dotson
Melvin Dotson was born Mary 18, 1926 and passed away February 27, 2000.
Two sisters preceded him in death, Rose Dotson and Clara Griefe.
He is survived by his loving wife Bobbie Dotson and daughter Kathleen
Gellick and five grandchildren; three sisters, Melva Shoemaker, Ruby
Griefe, Doris Welker and husband Harold and son Bruce; one brother Junior
Walter Dotson and wife Rebecca.
He was the son of Walter Earl Dotson and wife Anne Dotson nee Boster.
Burial was at Chesapeake, Virginia.
