Bell of Cuba, Missouri was born August 4, 1920 to Edwin Henry and Clara A. (nee Riske) Wilmesherr and passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the age of 94 years. Opal was united in marriage to Wendell H. Bell on April 15, 1948 at Steelville, Missouri and were happily married for 47 years before Wendell passed away. Opal started her banking career as an assistant cashier and retired after 34 years as a vice president from a local bank in Cuba, Missouri. Opal was a devout member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba for all of her adult life. She was the Clerk of the Sessions at church for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed reading. Every summer for years, after graduation, a group of friends would get together. They would spend hours laughing, reminding and catching up. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Clara Wilmesherr; husband, Wendell Bell on June 27, 1995; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Bell and Woodrow Bell; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Steele and Elaine Blair. She is survived by her sister, Gerry and husband Ezra Souders of Cuba, Missouri; her church family; other relatives and friends. "Bill" Brandenburger, Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born to Fred and Mary (Rutz) Brandenburger on December 16, 1929 in Oak Hill, Missouri and passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015 at the age of 85 years. Bill was united in marriage to Pearl Kahle on April 30, 1949 in Piggott, Arkansas and to this union three children were born. Bill retired after 42 years as an Engineer for St. Louis Terminal Railroad. He was a member of Cuba Lodge #321 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite and Moolah Shrine. Bill enjoyed horses, auctions, collecting antiques and doing carpenter work. Carolyn "Jeannie" Jean Fishwich Carolyn "Jeannie" Jean Fishwick of Steelville, Missouri was born April 8, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri to William Thomas and Mildred "Tootsie" Williams Stricklin and passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 27 days. On October 24, 1967 at the Steelville Presbyterian Church, Jeannie was united in marriage to Robert "Butch" Fishwick. Jeannie worked for 39 years in an attorney's office as a paralegal and then later as a flower designer for a few years all in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She and Butch moved back to Steelville, Missouri in 2002 where she continued her flower designing. She loved working in her garden each year and canning when she had the chance. Jeannie was well known for volunteering in many places such as at Gibbs Care Center, Golden Echoes and the Meramec Music Theatre. Jeannie was a member of the Aim High Club for several years. She loved spending her time decorating for most holidays. She was preceded in death by her father, William Thomas Stricklin; one brother, Dennis Randy Stricklin; and step-brother, Willaim Stricklin. Susanne "Sue" Frances Helmering Susanne "Sue" Francis Helmering (nee Sutton) of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, Missouri was born December 23, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to William and Stella Harbison Sutton and passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 14 days. In June of 1950 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cuba, Missouri, she married Laurence "Larry" L. Helmering. Sue worked along side her husband for many years in selling and delivering farm-fresh eggs. They sold to individuals and businesses such as restaurants, truck stops and nursing homes for more than 50 years. Many will remember Larry as the "Egg Man." She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church and was involved in the Ladies Guild. Sue and her parents help start St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville. For many years, Sue was very active in 4-H Clubs in Steelville, PTA and Boy Scouts while her sons were growing up. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Stella Sutton; her husband, Larry Helmering; one son, Tim Helmering; grandson, James Helmering, one brother, Sylvester Sutton; one sister, Ruby Graham and husband Tom; and one sister-in-law, Betty Tanner. On August 6, 1955 he married Anna Rosetta Callahan. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. John worked at Sanke Mill, Hardwood Charcoal and Kerr McGee for several years and later in Louisiana. He was an ordained Pentecostal minister and was an evangelist at different churches such as the Steelville Pentecostal Church and the Cherryville Community Church throughout the years. In later years, he attended the Trinity Pentecostal Church at Leasburg. He always enjoyed hunting, fishing and repairing small engines. She married Dale D. Turntine on January 7, 1955 in St. Clair, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2008. Mary worked for Missouri Home Care for 12 years, retiring in 2003.
