On April 2, 1960 Montie Ray Asher was united in marriage to Linda Lou Nelson. Montie enjoyed hunting, fishing and walking the woods. He was a great historian and loved talking to people. He married Maureen Kathryn Chapman on May 24, 2008 at the ACTS Church, Steelville, Missouri. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. He took pride in keeping an immaculate yard. Mary was a registered nurse at several hospitals for many years and even taught classes at the Rolla Diagnostic Center. Her hobbies were rug braiding, working with stain glass and reading. She volunteered before her health failed at the Viburnum nutrition site. She loved people and was a very compassionate person. Ronald was a jack of all trades and worked around the area cutting logs and doing handy work. He loved the outdoors and fishing the rivers and streams that the Ozarks had to offer. He also enjoyed mule and horse show, flea markets, and playing Bingo with his sister Pauline. Ronald loved to grill and smoke meats, he not only cooked for family and friends, but he also helped out at the VFW with cooking and preparing meals for the functions. Mary Annette Rich Mary Annette Rich (nee Fry) of Cuba, Missouri was born on Sunday, September 26, 1920 in Stafford, Kansas to Thomas Alec and Bonnie Lou Butler Fry and passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the age of 96 years, 5 months and 10 days. Mary's father worked as an executive in the railroad industry and her mother was a homemaker. Mary and her brother Bill grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas. As a young woman she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and English then shortly after graduation, she began her first career as a high school teacher in a small farming community in Western Kansas. She married her first husband, Edwin Polcyn and soon began raising their three children, Tom, Jane and Joanne, until his death while she was in her mid-30's. Having a strong background in music, Mary soon accepted a position teaching music and band in a secondary public school for several years. At the same time, she continued to pursue post-graduate study at the University of Virginia where she completed her Master of Arts degree in History in 1960. She married Earl Albert Rich in 1959 who was also a teacher. Their daughter Sara Rich was born in 1963. Together Mary and Earl pursued their teaching careers for many more years in public schools in Kansas and Steelville, Missouri. During this time Mary taught foreign languages primarily French, Spanish and Latin. She continued to advance her knowledge of the Spanish language and culture at the Instituto Technologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. She retired from teaching at age 70 and pursued a career as a real estate agent with Century 21 in Cuba, Missouri. She began writing poetry and published her work in various anthologies and on the internet, including the anthology of her own poems entitled "Heart Prints" which she published in 2010. She continued writing prose and short-stories which remain unpublished. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edwin Polcyn and Earl Albert Rich; and son, Thomas Edward Polcyn. Seal of Cuba, Missouri was born April 6, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri to William and Lois (Schlothauer) Seal and passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at the age of 59 years. As a young child, Robert lived in various places (St. Louis, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and South America). He attended school mainly in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. Robert graduated in 1976 from Pennsbury High School in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania. Robert then attended Bucks County Community College before journeying down the Appalachian Trail for the next couple of years. Throughout his entire life, he had a heart for others. For many years, he worked at Mountain View Children's Home in Georgia helping disabled adults. Robert worked many other various jobs before returning to Missouri in 1990. Many will remember him as the "Fudge Man" from selling fudge at many tourist shops throughout the country. He was even known to sing a tune for his customers. Robert loved the Beatles and photography and was an avid walker and backpacker. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lois Seal; and one daughter, Brandy Markley Grady. William "Bill" Lee Setzer William "Bill" Lee Setzer of Dillard, Missouri was born July 13, 1934 at Dillard, Missouri to William Franklin and Lena Swyers Setzer and passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 22 days. On May 12, 1956 at Courtois, Missouri he married Ina Mae Grace Laramore and to this union one son was born. He served honorably in the U.S. Army. Bill was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenter and Jointers Union for 60 years, retiring in 1998. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a charter member of the Ozark Trail Blazers. He won the 1974 National Champion Fox Trotters Association Award and he and Ina Mae participated in numerous western shows throughout Missouri. They both would ride and show their gaited fox trotter horses. Bill was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling stories about the good old days which he always said, "weren't really very good." After retirement, he always kept busy building many different wood products and crafts which were given away to kids and friends. He often built jewelry boxes, spice racks, bread boxes, toy boxes, bird house and custom cabinets. Roman accepted the Lord early in life. He served our country honorably in the United States Air Force. He married Barbara Zora Manues on February 24, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri. He later moved to Wentzville and drove a chicken delivery truck before moving back to Cuba, Missouri and working at Seal Test Dairy. He later worked at Pea Ridge Mine in Sullivan, Missouri for 12 years, Maverick Tube in Union, Missouri for 17 years, as well as being a self-employed logger. He was a member of Ozark Trailblazers and enjoyed many hobbies such as pony pulls, restoring cars, VW mechanics, rebuilding motors, motorcycles, owning a Motto Guzzi, raising hogs and pot belly pigs. Lorena Sorrell Wright Lorena (Ruth) Sorrell Wright of St. James, Missouri was born December 31, 1922 to William Burr and Alma (Diestelkamp) Sorrell in rural Phelps County, Missouri and passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 25 days. Ruth and George Robert Wright were united in marriage on December 17, 1941 and they celebrated a little more than 50 years of marriage. Ruth enjoyed singing and listening to gospel music. She worked at the shoe factory, as a housekeeper and later in life as a nurse's aide in the Phelps County Hospital Long Term Care Unit and Presbyterian Manor. Ruth was a member of the St. James Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alma Sorrell; husband, George Robert Wright; an infant son; sister, Eda Mae Beckham on September 20, 2005; brother-in-law, Loyd Lavern Beckham on October 6, 1974; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frieda and Leo Glenn. She is survived by her son, John Wright and wife Sara of St. James, Missouri; daughter, Nancy Lammert of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jessie Kirkbride and husband Wade of St. James, Missouri, Sara Bates of Knoxville, Tennessee, Rusty Wright and his wife Natalie of Newton, Kansas and Ely Wright and wife Tiffany of Springfield, Missouri; five great-grandchildren, Luke and Cole Shields, Benjamin Kirkbride, and Leah and Maverick Wright; nephew, Larry Beckham and wife Debbie of Indiana; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at noon at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Lynn Huggins officiating. Songs were "Amazing Grace" and "In Times Like These". Pallbearers were Rusty Wright, Larry Beckham, Rusty Otis, Ely Wright, Jerry Hodorowski and Wade Kirkbride. Honorary pallbearer was Mike Sbabo. Burial was in the St. James Cemetery. Joseph "Joe' Zulpo Joseph "Joe" Zulpo was born in Rosati, Missouri on March 21, 1920 to Louis and Mary (Vitali) Zulpo and passed away March 2, 2017 at the age of 96 years. Joe's father was one of the first Italians to settle in Rosati, Missouri and plant one of the first vineyards there. Joe was inducted into the United States Army on January 28, 1942 and served until October 15, 1945. He was part of the 610th Tank Destroyer Battalion and was involved in the Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe campaigns. He was awarded four Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. On July 13, 1946 in Rosati, Missouri Joe married his childhood sweetheart, Corrine Donati. They had three boys. Joe took over the family farm from his father and also worked with Ben Piazza, drilling wells after the war. He also worked at the Skelgas bottling plant in Rosati during the winter months, but his love was his grapes and his cows. He had about 17 acres of grapes for many of the years that he was under contract with Welch Foods. Joe was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Church in Rosati and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Corrine; son, Marion; four sisters; and three brothers. He is survived by two sons, Joseph and Steven; one grandson, Matt; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Marcus; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday March 5, 2017 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Mass of Christian Burial was held at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Rosati, Missouri at 10 a.m. on Monday March 6, 2017. Burial with full military honors at the St Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Donati, Michael Marcus, Dennis Marcus, Ron Zulpo, Matt Zulpo and Dylan Zulpo.
