Bishop Cecile G.  Bishop, nee Harmon, of Bourbon, Missouri was born on May 16, 1921 to Theodore and Garra (Northcutt) Harmon at Sullivan, Missouri and passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at the age of 92 years. On May 10, 1941 she was united in marriage to Albert M. Bishop at Sullivan, Missouri.   Cecile lived in St. Louis, Missouri for a few years, but the majority of her life was spent in the Bourbon and Sullivan areas. Cecile was employed for many years by the St. Louis County Branch Library.  She enjoyed family vacations and traveling. Her travels included Europe and Russia. She also enjoyed her home and family, cooking and flower gardening.  She was also an avid reader and loved history.   Cecile was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Bourbon, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Garra Harmon; husband, Albert Bishop; a grandson, Jeffrey Kofahl; six brothers, Ross, Clyde, Herbert, Jesse, Tracy and Bransford Harmon; and two sisters, Mae Briggs and Elise Fryer. She is survived by four daughters, Judith Kofahl of Fort Meyers, Florida, Rebecca Turner and husband Mike of Bourbon, Missouri, Beth Cerulo and husband Mike of Erie, Pennsylvania and Mary Kay Green of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Francis Birdnow of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m.  Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Eaton Southside Chapel, Sullivan, Missouri. Funeral services were conducted 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 from First United Methodist Church in Bourbon, Missouri. Interment in the Anthonies Mill Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri. Vera Eileen Cantley Vera Eileen Cantley (nee Gattung) was born in St. Louis, Missouri November 5, 1917 to Lillian Etta Kimberlin and Herman Gattung and passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the age of 96 years, 4 months and 5 days. Herman was employed at the Commonwealth Steel Mill in Granite City, Illinois. They moved to Granite City in 1922 where Vera attended grade and high school. She married William Daniel Bowers on August 10, 1935. They made their home in River Rouge, Michigan and became the parents of three children, Vivian Ethyl, Norman Lawrence and Linda Joyce. William was an iron worker and they traveled up and down the east coast for 10 years. Vera married Samuel Loyd Cantley of Granite City, Illinois on June 4, 1949 and they made their home in Cuba, Missouri. Loyd passed away on Christmas Eve in 1972. Vera started working in the office of a newspaper Cuba News and Review, then worked for the Cuba Times, the Rolla Daily News then for the Cuba Free Press. She served as the secretary of the Women’s Civic Club and the Cuba Fair Board and after the death of Rose Smith continued her Long Ago column for many years. She married Hadley H. West April 23, 1977 and he passed away on June 17, 1978. She worked for seven years at Wal-Mart in the electronic department in Sullivan, Missouri. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul’s Church in Cuba, Missouri in 1962. She lived in Cuba for 43 years and then moved to St. Charles, Missouri and transferred her church membership to Chapel of the Cross in March 27, 1994. She is survived by her daughters, Vivian Enloe and husband Eugene and Linda Joyce Johnston and husband Jim; her son, Retired Lt. Col. Norman Bowers and wife Brigitte; grandchildren, Eric Enloe, David Enloe and wife Gena, Greg Bowers, Jim Johnston and wife Vickie, Steve Johnston and wife Mary; great grandchildren, Alexandra, Eric Jr., Adam, Olivia, Samuel, Madison, Maximilian, Garret, Jimmy, Joey, Jenni, Jay Johnson and his wife Teresa and Nick Johnson; her brother, Harold Gattung; two nieces, Lois Holsinger and Arlene Johnson; her cousins, Wanda Purviance and William Gattung; other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church in St. Peters, Missouri. Interment was in the Countryside Memorial Gardens. Eaton of Steelville, Missouri was born on Saturday, October 7, 1933 in Davisville, Missouri to Lawrence W. and Pearl Ann Martin Eaton and passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 6 days. Norman served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War.   He married Margie M. Bryant on April 28, 1956 at Third Baptist Church, St. Louis, Missouri and to this union two children were born. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Cherryville, Missouri. Norman was a farmer, honored veteran and deacon who loved the Lord. He accepted the Lord in his heart on December 23, 1959  and was baptized at midnight on January 1, 1960 (to ring in a new year). He enjoyed spending time family and working on his tractor. Norman enjoyed driving the boat to chauffer his fishing buddies, including his best friend, Marge and the grandkids. Norman took pride in hard work and never left a job unfinished He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Pearl Eaton; brothers, Noel, Nelson and Norris Eaton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rayella Eaton, Betty Bryant, Eileen Bryant, Bernice (Harold) Roberts, William Leach, Fred Bryant and Willard (Delores) Bryant. Misty Michelle Loughridge Misty Michelle Loughridge of St. James, Missouri was born August 5, 1966 in Rolla, Missouri to Albert Wayne and Janet Parsons Loughridge and passed away suddenly on Thursday March 13, 2014 at the age of 47 years, 7 months and 9 days. She was preceded in death by her mother, Janet Parsons Loughridge; and two brothers, Albert Wayne Loughridge Jr. and Glendyn Loughridge. Robert Martin Rhodes Sr. Robert Martin Rhodes Sr. of Sullivan, Missouri was born in Long Beach, California on August 12, 1943 to Bonnie Olive (Brooks) and William Martin Rhodes and passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 24 days. On October 7, 1965, he was united in marriage to Lurline Janet Scheel at Marquand, Missouri. He was a retired sheet metal worker from Boeing. He was a member of the Jubilee Ministries of St. Clair. Robert loved the Lord and doing God’s work. He loved his church family and the time he spent with them. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and floating on the river. He was preceded in death his parents, Bonnie Olive and William Martin Rhodes. Ruwwe of Cuba, Missouri, was born December 24, 1937 at Japan, Missouri to Benjamin F. and Martha Stella (Eoff) Ruwwe and passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the age of 76 years. Selden lived and worked in the Japan, Sullivan and Bourbon areas except for the time he honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps in Okinawa.   On July 7, 1959 he married Helen Woods at Las Vegas, Nevada and six children were born to their union. Selden was employed by Harry’s Tire for many years and became part owner. He later owned and operated Hard Times Garage retiring in 2007. He was a storyteller and enjoyed fishing and drag racing. He was a member of the Pontiac Oakland Car Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Martha Ruwwe; daughter, Tracey Breen; and one sister and brother-in-law, Jane and John Wittenbrink. Violet J. Thomas-Farris Violet J. Thomas-Farris of Cuba, Missouri was born to Eugene and Maude (Bradshaw) Chapman on Friday, March 2, 1934 in Cuba, Missouri and passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at the age of 80 years. Violet retired from Brown Shoe Company after many years of dedicated service. Later she worked in Home Health Care and enjoyed taking care of others. In her spare time she enjoyed taking care of and showing her quarter horses and working in her flower garden. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Maude Chapman; and one son-in-law, Louis “Luke” House. Albert “Lee” Vaughn Albert “Lee” Vaughn of Salem, Missouri was born January 16, 1918 in Sligo, Missouri to Albert Mitchell and Rosa Belle King Vaughn and passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at the age of 96 years, 1 month and 29 days. He married Anna Elizabeth Hutson on October 5, 1940 and to this union three children were born. He worked at General Motors in St. Louis, Missouri as a foreman on the Chevrolet passenger car line and retired after 28 years of service. He was also an expert painter and paperhanger as a side job for many years and taught his children and others the skills. Lee moved back to the sight of his childhood home in the Sligo/Cook Station area in 1995 and on July 13, 2000 he married Kathleen Pendleton. For many years, he was a member of the Bellefontaine Neighbors Baptist Church in North St. Louis County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rosa Belle Vaughn; his first wife of 59 years, Anna Elizabeth Vaughn; one brother, Carl Vaughn; and one sister, Betty Ellis.
