MO Local Obituaries for the Week of March 26, 2003 Barbara Jane Denney Barbara Jane Denney nee Alexander, of Crestwood, Mo. and Indian Lake, Cuba, Mo passed away March 20, 2003. Beloved wife of 53 years to Leslie F. Denney, mother to Scott Denney, mother-in-law to Sally Denney, and grandmother to Jason Denney. Also survived by brother Richard B. Alexander of Blue Springs, Mo., daughter of late Pearn and Geneva Alexander. Aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Mrs. Denney was a most generous and outgoing person. Funeral arrangements by Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo. Visitation 6 p.m. with service at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 24. Graveside service was held at 10 a.m. March 25, at Park Cemetery, Carthage, Mo. William "Cornell" Glassey William Cornell Glassey was born on Wednesday, November 2, 1910 to the union of John William Glassey and Margaret Herbst Glassey in rural Crawford County. He passed away on March 22, 2003 at the St. James Nursing Home, St. James, Mo. at the age of 92 years, 4 months and 20 days. Cornell was a direct descendant of the old pioneer, Isaac Glassey, who was one of four Irish brothers. Cornell was a farmer in this area and a well driller of a thousand wells. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and also, a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. Cornell married Marian Baxter on March 14, 1936 in St. Charles, Mo. They lived most of their married life in Crawford County. In addition to farming and well drilling business, Cornell was well known throughout the area for his hounds. Cornell was a respected citizen, active in local politics, and served Crawford County in the 1970's as a road judge. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Hope Glassey Roach. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his dear wife Marian Glassey of Cuba, Mo.; his niece Margaret King of Edwardsville, Illinois; his great niece Hope Churchill and great nephew John Higginbotham of Edwardsville, Illinois; cousins, relatives, and many friends. Visitation was held Sunday, March 23, 2003 from 4-8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 24, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo. with Spencer R. Hutson officiating. Burial was in Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. with pallbearers Gary Counts, Frank Counts, Herman Hughes, Dr. Charles Leezy, Herb Otterman, and Paul Glaese. All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo. Lucille Amelia Lindner Lucille Amelia Lindner of Bland passed away early Monday morning, March 17, 2003, at the age of 84. Lucille was suffering from cancer. Lucille was born on January 15, 1919, in St. Louis. She is the daughter of the late Gustave E. and Eleanora Schultz Fette. On October 29, 1938, Lucille was married to Richard F. Lindner and to this union three children were born. Surviving Lucille are two daughters, Judy Heintz with her husband Wayne of Bland and Jacqueline Litzsinger with her husband Henry of Ellisville, and one son Richard G. Lindner with his wife Chris of Duluth, Georgia. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Mark Heintz, Jeff Heintz, Amy Buddemeyer, Bruce Litzsinger, Lori Mertz, Matt Litzsinger, Jennifer Lindner, Heather Lindner, and Richard Lindner. There are fourteen grandchildren, Bryan and Andrea Litzsinger, Rachel Cunningham, Aaron Mertz, Mindy and Kaleb Heintz, Katie and Kim Buddemeyer, Jeff, Amber, and Jordan Heintz, Lindsey and Ashley Naes, and Josh Sommers. Her husband Richard who passed away June 26, 1995 precedes Lucille in death. Also preceding Lucille is a brother Edward Fette and a sister Marie Tenkhoff. Lucille lived in St. Louis for most of her life and was a 59 year old member of the Zion Evangelical Church, now known as the Parkway United Church of Christ in Town and Country. After Richard's retirement, they moved to Indian Hills Lake at Cuba where they were members of the United Methodist Church. Lucille recently moved to Bland where she was cared for by her daughter Judy. Lucille had joined the Zion Evangelical Church in Bland. Services were held Thursday, March 20, 2003 at 11:30 from the Parkway United Church of Christ. Burial was in the Church cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday evening from the Sassmann's Chapel in Bland from 4-8 p.m. James Allen Setzer James Allen Setzer was born Wednesday, July 22, 1981, in Rolla, Mo., a son of Hazel Darlene Setzer (nee Quinton) and the late Everett Newton Setzer. He entered eternal rest Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the St. John's Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, Mo., at the age of 21 years, 8 months and 22 days. On May 23, 2002, James was united in marriage to Crystal Bennett, daughter of Kenneth and Cheryl Bennett. Although their time together was short, there are many happy memories. In addition to his father, one brother, Wesley Setzer, preceded him in death. Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Crystal Setzer of the home in Steelville, Mo.; his mother, Darlene Setzer of Steelville, Mo.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kenneth and Cheryl Bennett of Cuba, Mo.; grandmother, Nina Setzer of Cuba, Mo.; grandmother-in-law, Margaret Schneider of Gerald, Mo. Rosalie Stulce Rosalie Stulce was born Sunday, March 8, 1925, at Courtois, Mo., a daughter of the late Floyd Gillam and Lonnie Gillam (nee Brakefield). She departed this life March 20, 2003, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Sullivan, Mo., at the age of 78 years and 12 days. On December 20, 1941, at Salem, Mo., Rosalee was united in marriage to Fred M. Stulce, son of Raymond L. Stulce and Ethel May (Miller) Stulce. Six sons and three daughters were born to this union. They enjoyed over 48 years together before his death. In addition to her parents and Fred, she was preceded in death by two sons, Fred (Jobie) Stulce and Homer (Sonny) Stulce; a son-in-law, Lovell Moses; a grandson, Mark Alan Stulce, Jr.; two brothers, Paul Gillam and Elmer Gillam, one sister, Oneta Schlake and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul Welzbaucher, Bill Blount, Robert Stulce, John Walsh, Emory and Laura Stulce, Louis and Hallie Stulce, Jonie and Bernice Stulce, Gene and Louise Yount. Bennie Sue Tolley Bennie Sue Tolley nee Tanner was born Friday, September 4, 1942, at East Prairie, Mo., a daughter of George Tanner and Chessie (Williams) Tanner Wallace. She departed this life Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at the Barnes-Jewish Medical Center, St. Louis, Mo., at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 14 days. Bennie Sue was a Registered Nurse and worked at St. Mary's and also worked with Hospice Care. She was a member of American Dairy Goat Association, Missouri Caged Bird Breeders and member of African Love Bird Society. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her husband John Fred Tolley of Steelville, Mo.; her mother, Chessie Wallace and one sister, Marilyn Singer, both of Kingman, Arizona; two sons, George Petty and wife Casey of Longview, Texas and Randy Petty of Steelville, Mo.; two daughters, Joyce Walton and Kelly Petty of St. Louis, Mo.; two step-sons, Terry Tolley and wife Ann of St. Peters, Mo. and Tim Tolley and wife Teresa of St. Louis, Mo.; one step-daughter, Stacy Tolley of Austin, Texas; a special niece, who was like a daughter, Shirley Falls and husband Norman of Eureka, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Barbara Marie Treadway Barbara Marie Treadway nee Northington was born Friday, November 18, 1932, at Osceola, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Mattie (Bozeman) Northington and Willy Lick Northington. She departed this life Friday, March 14, 2003 at Viburnum, Mo., at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 26 days. In addition to her parents, one sister, Doris Kirk, three brothers-in-law, Jack, Bill and Ted Treadway and two sisters-in-law, Ida and Ruby Treadway preceded her in death. On January 25, 1958 Barbara was united in marriage to James Treadway. They have enjoyed 45 years together.
