She married Albert McGinnis and had two sons, Michael Alan and David Hansen. She then married Richard Ray Aldrich and had two children, Richard Anthony and Judith. Vernell lived in Leasburg, Missouri and Crawford County most of her life. She was a member of Living Word Church in Leasburg, Missouri. She loved her cats, Mr. Boots, Taffy and Smokey. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert McGinnis and Richard Aldrich; son, David McGinnis; and brother-in-law, Norman Springett. Private services were held.   James “Orin” Biggs James “Orin” Biggs of Steelville, Missouri was born in Max, Missouri on June 27, 1929 to James Everett and Johnnie Mae (Ball) Biggs and passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 20 days. On March 14, 1950, he married Clarinda Agness Price and to this union four children were born. Orin worked at Ford Steel Company in Maryland Heights, Missouri from 1946 to 1991. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953 and served in Korea during his enlistment. After he retired, he enjoyed woodworking and made many projects for several people. He always enjoyed being on his tractor and just “piddling.” He was also a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.   He attended Victory Baptist Church at Cherryville. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Johnnie Biggs; his mother and father-in-law, Esli Edward and Hala Mae Price; his brother, Gail E. Jack Brandenburger Jack Brandenburger of Copper Canyon, Texas was born October 11, 1933 in Cuba, Missouri to Frederick William and Mary Ellen (Rutz) Brandenburger and passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at his home at the age of 80 years. Jack married Diane Frerichs on November 7, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri. Jack was most proud of his loving family. Pansy married James “Walter” Chambers on February 11, 1933 and to this union four children were born. Pansy loved the Lord with all her heart and was dedicated to living by example through her service and leadership to others.  Pansy was t he song leader for many years at the First Pentecostal Church of Vichy and blessed many with her angelic voice.  Pansy loved quilting, and provided all her children and grandchildren with at least one special hand made quilt.   Pansy loved to cook and looked forward to Sunday afternoon dinners with her family. Several years ago, Roger worked as a scheduler for the Food Machine Corporation (FMC), which made military tanks in California and he then moved to Viburnum in 1992.   For the last 19 years, he helped April run The Thrift Shop in Viburnum, Missouri. He enjoyed going to auctions and yard sales. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wheeler and Ethel Hall; three children, Roger Stevens Hall, Lori Kay Hall and Jessica Lee Lee. On August 16, 1941 in Steelville, Missouri, he married Margaret Spencer. He worked for many years in St. Louis as a machinist making piston rings and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Lally; his wife, Margaret Lally on January 5, 2008; one sister, Florence Marie Lally; and one brother-in-law, Charles Spencer. Robert Phillip Magnin Robert Phillip Magnin of St. James, Missouri was born on September 13, 1925 in St. James, Missouri to Emil and Ruby (Steidel) Magnin and passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 27 days. peacefully at his home.  After graduating high school Robert joined the United States Navy where he served his country during WWII as a Navy Seabee. It was during his time as a Seabee that Robert learned his love for wood crafting, and building. He left the Navy on March 16, 1946 and came home to St. James. Robert married Thelma Brown on February 12, 1949. Robert worked as rural mail carrier for the next 32 years, but his passion was working the farm, gardening, woodworking, and antique cars. One of the many things he built over the years was their own sailboat and rebuilt an antique car that he drove in parades. Robert was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church of St. James and was also a lifetime member of the St. James VFW Post #5608.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Ruby Magnin; brothers, Louis, Paul and Charles Magnin; and sister, Frieda Rodd. Leslie “Ed” Edward Pope Leslie “Ed” Edward Pope of Steelville, Missouri was born September 27, 1933 in Union, Missouri to Frank Dillard Pope and Tilda Irene Breeden Pope and passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 17 days. On February 29, 1988 in Union, Missouri he married Linda Harper. Ed served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 until 1953. He received a Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal and a United Nations service medal for his bravery. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Cuba VFW. Ed worked several years in the food service business and owned restaurants in Alton, Illinois and Jonesboro, Arkansas. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Steelville. Ed enjoyed watching college sports especially Indiana University Basketball and Notre Dame Football. After Steelville played basketball in the Show Me State Games one year, Ed was given the game ball for being such a big supporter. After Ed’s life was over he became an organ donor for others who had health needs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Tilda Pope; one son, Edward Dale Pope; two brothers, Melvin Pope and Danny Vondracek; one sister, Irene Honaker; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Harper. Thomas Walter Trudo Thomas Walter Trudo of Cuba, Missouri was born May 30, 1943 at Flat River, Missouri to Charles and Mary Martha (nee Degonia) Trudo and passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 70 years. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy from November 1961 until November 1962 and then served in the Naval Reserves until December 1967. Tom was an over the road truck driver for 47 years and drove over three million miles. When he wasn’t on the road he enjoyed playing the guitar, drawing, riding motorcycles and meeting others. He was also a ham radio operator and liked electronics. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Trudo. Alma Lee Verkamp Alma Lee Verkamp (nee Morrison) was born December 13, 1927 in Cook Station, Missouri to Fred and Flora  (Asher) Morrison and passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the age of 86 years. In 1947 she married the late Bernard Verkamp. He passed away on November 20, 1986. Together they ran Verkamp Ready Mix and the family farm, which is still operational and was recently awarded Century Farm status. Alma Lee was an avid crossword puzzle fan, and her bridge-playing skills were the stuff of legend.  She also enjoyed twice-weekly swim class at MS&T for many years.  She loved cooking, Cardinal baseball and talking about her grandchildren and great grandchildren.   Her quick wit, easy laugh and caring nature made her a joy to be around. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard Verkamp and one daughter-in-law, Paula Verkamp. She is survived by her parents, Billy Weber and Shelby Murray; sisters, Billie Shiann Weber and Morgin Elyzabeth Weber of Cherryville, Missouri; aunts and uncles, Crystal Weber-Cowen and husband Steven of Kansas City, Missouri and James Weber and fiancé Kelsey Stovall of Cuba, Missouri; grandparents, Bill and Vicky Weber of Steelville, Missouri and Judy Merritt of Cuba, Missouri; great grandparents, Bill and Linda Weber of Steelville, Missouri and Jean Merritt of Cuba, Missouri; great great grandmother, Tressie Humphrey of Steelville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
