Len Leonard Bond
Len Leonard Bond of Leasburg, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, Missouri was
born May 14, 1927 in St. Louis to Edgar and Ruby (Frith) Bond and passed
away March 21, 2009 at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at
the age of 81 years.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy for nine years and the Army Reserve
for four years.
Len worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone and retired in 1977 moving to
Steelville. He was honored to make the very first cell phone call.
For many years he was a Boy Scout Leader in St. Louis. He was a past member
of the Kiwanis Club in Steelville, a member of the VFW of Owensville, Missouri
and a member of the Steelville and Sullivan Masonic Lodges. In the 1980’s, he
was the chairman of the Democratic Party of Crawford County.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Daniel; a brother, Fred Bond
and one sister, Anna Johnston.
He is survived by his wife, Sally of the home; David and family of St. James,
Missouri, Timothy and family of Steelville, Missouri, Donna and family, Debbie
and family, Perry and family, Gina and family and Tina and family; 15
grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Britton-Bennett
Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri. Masonic rites were held at 7 p.m. by the
Lebanon Masonic Lodge of Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Paul Lathum
officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace” was sung by grand-daughter,
Jackie Mash and “It is Well with My Soul” was sung by Rev. Paul Lathum.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Meramec Hills Cemetery at Cuba,
Missouri. Military Honors were given by the U.S. Navy and the VFW Post 5608
of St. James, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Tim Bond, Danny Bond, Perry Brunetti, Miles Yeary, Mark
Mash and Jeffrey Tarrant.

Thomas W. Eaker
Thomas W. Eaker, age 72, of Bristol Path, Brookfield, Connecticut, was born in
St, Louis, Missouri on March 12, 1937, to Clifford W. and Berniece
(Housewright) Eaker and passed away at Danbury Hospital on Thursday,
March 26, 2009 at the age of 72 years.
He was married to Donna (Cape) Eaker,
He was an electrical engineer for General Telephone and Electronic
Corporation. He was an active member and current Moderator of the
Congregational Church of Brookfield. He was a faith-filled man who loved to
support his church in any capacity necessary. He was a member of the bell
choir and a longtime Sunday school teacher who influenced many of the church
youth. His hobbies included coin collecting, classical music and working with
electronics.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Maurice
and Kathryn Cape and brother, Gerald C. Eaker.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years; two sons, Ronald S. Eaker and
his wife Diane of Redding, Connecticut, David C. Eaker and his wife Terri of
Cross River, New York; his daughter, Kay A. Marron and her husband Michael of
Brookfield, Connecticut; eight grandchildren, Kelly, Shannon, Patrick, Lauren
and Camryn Eaker, Kathryn, Carolyn and Colleen Marron; his sister, Judith B.
Hodge and husband Gene of Rolla, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Eaker of
Geneseo, Illinois and Kay Marick and husband Jerry of New Hope, Pennsylvania;
other relatives and friends
Visitation was held at the Brookfield Funeral Home on Sunday, March 29, 2009.
Memorial Services held at the Congregational Church of Brookfield on
Wednesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a memorial service held in Steelville in April for family and
friends.
Zula F. Micallef
Zula F. Micallef of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Jacob and Minnie
(West) Ware on July 4, 1924 in Delhi, Missouri and passed away Monday,
March 23, 2009 in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 84.
Zula was united in marriage to Robert Micallef on November 23, 1963 in
Bourbon, Missouri.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking and taking care of
her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James E. Honea, Jr.;
son, Jimmie Honea; four sisters, Martha Hopwood, Katherine and Lorene Ware,
Mabel Williams; three brothers, Estel “Bud”, Herman and George Ware; other
relatives and friends.
She is survived by her husband; one son, David and wife Janice Honea; one
daughter, Debra and husband Jim Gilliam, all of Cuba, Missouri; daughter-in-
law, Joyce Honea of Lakeland, Florida; one brother, Chester and wife Margaret
Ware of Cuba, Missouri; three sisters, Viva Fann of Bourbon, Missouri, Maxine
Branson of Park Hills Missouri, Bonnie Ware of Cuba, Missouri; eight
grandchildren, Angela Harmann, Paul, Jeff and Todd Honea, Nichole Acevedo,
Jaclyn, James III and Jilliann Gilliam; 11 great grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was Friday, March 27, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home
in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Britton Funeral
Home with Chaplain Michael Hardwick, officiating.
Interment in the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri.

Viola Jane Miller
Viola Jane Miller of Owensville, Missouri, was born on June 25, 1926 near
Oak Hill, Missouri to Oscar Harrison Collier and Mary Susan Souders Collier
and passed away at her farm in north Crawford County on March 22, 2009, at
the age of 82 years.
She attended country schools and graduated from Owensville High School in
1943. She was selected by the school board to teach in the rural schools and
began a lifetime of teaching. She taught in the small schools and continued
her education at Lincoln University where she graduated in 1966.
On December 31, 1949, Viola married Clarence Miller and to this union two
children were born.
Clarence retired from the service and Viola taught school in the United
States, Germany and France and in 1963 the family returned to the United
States and settled at Owensville, Missouri. Viola taught fifth grade at
Owensville Elementary, Owensville, Missouri.
Family was vitally important to Viola and she was the keeper of family
history and stories for the Collier and Souders families.
Religion was important to Viola; she was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist
Church and a devout Christian. She served as a Sunday school teacher
throughout her life and her husband served as a Deacon in the churches they
attended wherever they lived.
Viola loved having a large group around the farm’s dining room table loaded
with food, sharing family stories, especially the funny ones.
She loved her cattle, enjoyed the nature abounding on the farm, picking wild
plums and elderberry for jam and knew how to make delicious boiled wild
greens.
Although she enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states and 13 European
countries, her favorite place was her Missouri prairie farm.
She served on the Oak Hill Cemetery Association Board, member of the Eastern
Star where she once served as District Deputy Grand Matron, VFW, Delta Kappa
Gamma, NCO Officers Wives, Royal Neighbors, and the Red Hat Society. She
volunteered at the Gasconade County History Museum in Owensville, the
Gasconade County Fair, Extension Club, and the Fort Leonard Wood Widowed
Support Program.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Lillie Adele
Maness and Mary Erline Cunningham; brothers, Leslie Samuel Collier and Oscar
William Collier.
She is survived by one brother, Everett Joshua Collier and his wife Barbara,
of Cincinnati, Ohio; her daughter, Jane Ann Parres of St. Louis, Missouri;
son, John Collier Miller and wife Ruth Ann, of Little Rock, Arkansas;
grandsons, Ronald Lee Parres II and wife Jennifer Ann and Dustin Nichols
Parres; other relatives and friends.
Viola chose cremation with no funeral service. An informal gathering of her
family and friends at the Oak Hill Church, Cuba, Missouri on Saturday,
April 4, 2009, at 2 p.m. People may bring flowers from their garden as she
loved and shared bouquets with everyone all her life. Please, no formal
flower arrangements.

Dessie Louise Ray
Dessie Louise Ray was born on Sunday, March 15, 1936 in Ten Mile, Tennessee
to Arch Finley Boggess and Pearl Elizabeth Hill Boggess. She passed away
Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the age of 73 years and 6 days.
Louise married Willis Eugene Ray in Tulia, Texas on September 3, 1955 and
to this union two sons were born. She was self-employed as a Christian clown
most of her adult life. She was co-founder of the St. Louis Christian Clown
Club and Mid-MO Creative Ministries. She was a member of the Clowns of America
International, Fellowship of Christian Magicians International and First
Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri. She also was certified as a Christian
performer for Military and government functions. Her hobbies were collecting
glassware, making crafts and an amateur ornithologist (bird watcher).She was
preceded in death by her grandparents and mother.
She is survived by her husband of the home; sons, Allan (Cheryl) Ray of
Jefferson County, Missouri and Royce (Toni) Ray of Minneapolis, Minnesota;
father Arch Boggess of Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri and wife
Hattie Boggess of Nevada, Missouri; brothers, Joe Boggess of Plato, Missouri
and Dixie Frank Boggess III of Anchorage, Alaska; sisters, Shirley (David)
Armontrout of Tulia, Texas, Jeri (Wyatt) Harmon of Texas, and Venita (Tom)
Yengel of St. Louis, Missouri; brother-in-law, Jack (Pat) Ray of Cisco,
Texas and sister-in-law, Brenda (Les) Brown of Parmelia, Texas; seven
grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Wednesday, March 25, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009
at First Baptist Church, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Bob Knight officiating.
Burial was at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with pallbearers,
Eric Ray, Mike McQuay, Mike Traxel, Ryan Wright, Will Carpenter and Bob
Smith.
All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
Casey L. and Marie G. Waller
Casey L. and Marie G. Waller, nee Payne, formerly of Steelville, Missouri,
were together over 70 years before they passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009.
Casey was preceded in death by his parents, Ferd and Bertha A. Waller. Marie
was preceded in death by her parents, Cornilous and Mary Payne; and their
daughter, Betty (Walter) Himmelmann.
They are survived by their children, Shirley (Lyle) Downs, Carolyn (the late
Paul) Coyle, Dennis (Bonnie) Waller, David (Linda) Waller and Deborah Manning
(Frank Tolles); 17 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brother, William
Waller; other relatives and friends.
Services were Monday, March 30, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Collier’s Funeral Home,
Bridgeton, Missouri with interment at the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Collier’s Funeral Home, Bridgeton,
Missouri.
