Kathryn Lois Anderson

Kathryn “Lois” Anderson, 93, of Steelville, Missouri was born April 23, 1914
in Buick, Missouri to Arthur William Schwieder and Effie (Crow) Schwieder.
She passed away Monday, March 24, 2008 at Cuba Manor in Cuba, Missouri at the
age of 93 years.
On February 5, 1939, she married Raymond Anderson who preceded her in death
on May 14, 1949.
She is survived by several cousins and friends.
Kathryn “Lois” was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Steelville, Missouri.
She was an excellent pianist, loved to dance and enjoyed traveling when her
health permitted.
Private burial was in the Steelville Cemetery in Steelville, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of
Steelville, Missouri.


Bertha Fay Carrick

Bertha Fay Carrick, nee Chandler, of Cherryville, Missouri was born on Friday,
November 30, 1934 in Bixby, Missouri to Autta Chandler and Hettie Dotson
Chandler. She passed away on Friday, March 21, 2008 at the age of 73 years,
3 months and 21 days.
She married Fred Carrick on January 3, 1955 and to this union five children
were born.
She was a former member of Ozark Trail Blazers and lifetime member of Seymour
Saddle Club. Her hobbies were sewing, attending rodeos and horse shows and
watching TV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Ival Carrick; Claude
Chandler, Marie and Frank Jelenik; Don Chandler, Norman Chandler, Montie
Chandler, Donna Fay Willhite, Rose Caulder, Lawrence Stricklin, Bill Caulder,
Gene Dicus and Elmer Pyatt.
She is survived by her husband of Cherryville, Missouri; children, Roy Lee
(friend Jeanette Massey) of Cherryville, Missouri, James Eugene Carrick of
Licking, Missouri, Gladys Marie Pankey (James) of Rolla, Missouri, Nancy
Lenora Carrick of Cherryville, Missouri, and Tresa Hackworth (friend Mike)
of Lesterville, Missouri; sisters, Lottie Holland (Earnest), Betty Copeland
(Don), all of Cuba, Missouri and Geraldine Dicus of Steelville, Missouri;
brother-in-law, Willard Carrick (Nora) of New Haven, Missouri; sisters-in-law,
Maxine Cates of Springfield, Missouri, Darlene Beens of Springfield, Missouri,
Margaret Philpott of Fayette, Missouri, Fay Chandler, Cherryville, Missouri
and Etta Chandler of Steelville, Missouri; three grandchildren; two great
grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Monday, March 24, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri. Funeral service was Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 11 a.m.
at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Larry Martin
officiating. Burial at Keysville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.

Missouri.


Esther M. Dotson

Esther M. Dotson of Cuba, Missouri was born on December 17, 1920 in Tea,
Missouri to Edward and Sarah (Bunton) Rector. She passed away Saturday,
March 22, 2008 at the age of 87 years.
She married Mertis Dotson on May 22, 1941 at Steelville, Missouri.
She enjoyed work, especially cutting wood and continued to work in the yard
until the age of 86 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Alvie Rector
and sister, Rosie Wolf.
She is survived by Richard Dotson of Cuba, Missouri, whom she raised as a son
and wife Josephine; three grandchildren, Ricky Dotson of Cuba, Missouri, Tammy
Highley and husband Kenny of St. Clair, Missouri and Lena Dotson of Cuba,
Missouri; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Goldie Brown of St. Louis,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the Bourbon Chapel
of the Eaton Funeral Home with Sister Dora Cupp officiating.
Interment in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
All arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.


Roy T. Heads

Roy T. Heads, Sr. of Leasburg, Missouri, was born July 16, 1936 in Washington
County, Missouri to Leslie and Sarah (Pounds) Heads. He passed away Monday,
March 24, 2008 at the age of 71 years.
He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and loved to work outside
as a logger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Thurmond; three brothers, Glen,
Lester and Jessie Heads; nine sisters, Mary Mesey, Ester Burris, Lucy Kirk,
Maggie DeClue, Alice Courtoise, Charlene House, Rosie Courtoise, Dorothy
Stetson and Linda Heads.
He is survived by one son, Roy T. Heads Jr. and partner Roxanna Helm of
Leasburg, Missouri; four daughters, Judy Ann Heads and partner Walter Mackley
of Leasburg, Missouri, Molly Rector and husband Richard of Sullivan, Missouri,
Tonya Heads of Rolla, Missouri and Loretta Dunham and husband Mike; two
brothers, William Heads and wife Nova of Sullivan, Missouri and James Heads
of Green Forest, Arkansas; one sister, Janie Bardwell of Oakland, California;
16 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was at noon on Friday, March 28, 2008 from the Eaton Funeral
Home in Sullivan, Missouri with interment at Horine Cemetery in Richwoods,
Missouri.
All arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.


Gladys C. Parsons

Gladys C. Parsons was born on November 28, 1925 to William N. and Pearl I.
(Martin) Turnbough and passed away March 28, 2008 in Arnold, Missouri at the
age of 82 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Parsons and two
brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Parsons and wife Diane of Arnold, Missouri
and David Parsons and wife Cindy of Imperial, Missouri; brothers, Delbert
Turnbough and wife Sharon of Owensville, Missouri and Ercie Turnbough and
wife Donna of St. James, Missouri; sister, Marie Geller of Cuba, Missouri;
grandchildren, Roger, Brian, Annette, Kim, Vicky, Karen, Eric Jason, Brooke,
Jed and Ruth; great grandchildren, Nathan, Evan, Chloe, Haley, Jackson, Ava,
Brook, Bianca and Marissa; great great grandchildren, London and Lainie;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, March 30, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. at the James & Gahr
Chapel in St. James, Missouri. Funeral service was held on Monday,
March 31, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the James & Gahr Chapel in St. James, Missouri
with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Pallbearers included family and friends.
Interment at the St. James Cemetery, St. James, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in
St. James, Missouri.


John William Pinnell

John William Pinnell of Bourbon, Missouri was born at Cuba, Missouri on
May 11, 1930 to John William and Mary Elizabeth (West) Pinnell. He passed
away Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the age of 77 years.
Bill, as he was known by his family and friends, had lived the majority of
his life in the Bourbon and Sullivan areas and honorably served his country
during the Korean War with the U.S. Army.
On October 25, 1952 Bill was united in marriage to Barbara L. Miller. He was
a long time employee of the Ford Motor Company in St. Louis and later retired
from there. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanton, Missouri
and was baptized as a young man. He was known as a person who would lend a
helping hand to anyone in need and was an avid CB and Ham radio operator who
had made world-wide friends.
He was preceded in death by his great grandson, Bryan Bouse; five brothers,
Wayne, Curtis, Harold, Paul and Edward; and two sisters, Anna Miller and Mary
Flavin.
He is survived by his wife; children, Douglas Pinnell of Bourbon, Missouri
and Lisa Lilley of Sullivan, Missouri; sister, Rita Barstow of St. Charles,
Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; Vonnie Richards and Jonna
Brewer; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008 from the
First Baptist Church of Stanton, Missouri with Pastors Devon Haus and Harry
Pryor officiating.
Interment with full military honors was in the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon,
Missouri.


Marian “Kitty” Rolens

Marian “Kitty” Rolens of Potosi, Missouri, passed away Saturday,
March 29, 2008 at the age of 70 years.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy Rolens; two daughters, Marcia (Jonathan)
Paton and Madonna (Mikeal Daniels) Rolens; four sisters, Phyllis (Carl) Vance,
Sharon (Wesley) Forrester, Glenda (Perry) Farrow, Debbie Belfield; four
grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Sally (Carl)
Warren, Mary (Mike) Benoist, Cathy (Bob) Hummel, Georgia (Kenneth) Dempsey,
Laura (Gary) Leffert; brother-in-law, Art (Wilma) Rolens; dear friends, Connie
and Skip Sayers and David Hochstatter.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 5 p.m. at the Moore Funeral Home,
Potosi, Missouri.
Funeral Mass at St. James Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008.
Arrangements under the direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.


James E. Schoonover

James E. Schoonover of Zalma, Missouri, formerly of the Sullivan, Missouri
area, was born on July 25, 1913 at Ft. Wayne, Indiana to James and Ethel
(Parkinson) Schoonover and passed away Monday, March 24, 2008 at the age
of 94 years.
At the age of five years, the family moved to the Sullivan, Missouri area
where he had lived many years.
He honorably served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army in the Signal
Corps, attaining the rack of Technical Sergeant.
He was later married to Lorraine Cloin and to this union a son was born.
He was proud of his English heritage dating back to 1274 to Cambridge shire,
England and the Puritan ministers and educators. His vocation in life was
that of a mechanic in the auto repair business and also at one time owned
and operated a sawmill.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Theodore Schoonover
and two sisters, Pearl Dace and Alna Hedrick.
He is survived by his son, James Schoonover of Zalma, Missouri; two sisters,
Billie Brandstetter of Sullivan, Missouri and Mary Ness of Cook Station,
Missouri; two grandchildren and a brotherly friend, Larry Stotts of Zalma,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 1 p.m. from the Southside
Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Rev. G. Scott
Perry officiating. Interment was in Reedville Cemetery, rural Sullivan,
Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.


Gerold “Butch” Lee Smith, Sr.

Gerold “Butch” Lee Smith Sr. of Cherryville, Missouri was born October 27, 1942
to Rolston Homer Smith and Marie Catherine (Baum) Smith. He passed away on
March 27, 2008 at his home at the age of 65 years.
On May 14, 1960 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Sue (Ridenhour) Smith in
East St. Louis, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 3, 1997.
Gerold was a Christian. He enjoyed fishing and bowling. He was a volunteer
fireman for the Steelville Fire Protection District-House 2 located in
Cherryville, Missouri and was one of the first to help organize it in 1984. He
also worked for the Steelville Police Department for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Daniel Smith; two
brothers, Homer Smith and wife Marilyn and Donald Smith; two sisters, Doris
Smith and Shirley Hart and husband Donald.
He is survived by one son, Gerold Lee Smith Jr. and wife Lavonda of Cherryville,
Missouri; three daughters, Christine Sanders and husband Dan and Cathleen Pyeatt
and husband Wayne of Viburnum, Missouri and Kimberley Bridges and husband Lloyd
of Steelville, Missouri; one brother, Dennis Smith of Union, Missouri; and one
sister, Carol Stout of Pinckneyville, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and four great
grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Britton-Bennett
Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Special
music of “Dancing With the Angels” was sung by daughter, Cathy Pyeatt and Linda
Haworth. Other special music of “In the Garden” was sung by Bob and Carol
Coleman with Bob Coleman accompanying on guitar.
Interment in the Smith Family Cemetery in Cherryville, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in
Steelville, Missouri.


Loretta J. Smith

Loretta J. Smith nee Frahm of Steelville, Missouri was born on Thursday,
April 13, 1911 to Arthur Frahm and Agusta Saborosch Frahm in St. Louis,
Missouri. She passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Gibbs Care Center,
Steelville, Missouri at the age of 96 years, 11 months and 10 days.
Loretta married Orville Kenneth Smith on May 31, 1937 in Union, Missouri and
to this union three children were born. When living on the farm in Cook Station,
Missouri Loretta enjoyed working crossword puzzles, cooking, gardening and
canning. She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Vernon, Leonard,
Robert Frahm and wife Dorothy; sister, Margaret Wright and husband Chester;
son-in-law, Lewis Farnsworth; brothers-in-law, Ray Alexander and Ralph Pointer.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Kenneth (Janet) Smith of Cook Station,
Missouri, Timothy Lynn (Mary) Smith of St. Louis, Missouri and Shirley
Farnsworth of Hazelwood, Missouri; sister, Florence Pointer of Texas; sisters-
in-law, Koradine Alexander of Steelville, Missouri and Genevieve Frahm of
Owensville, Missouri; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three great
great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, March 28, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri. Funeral service was Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 10 a.m. at
Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating.
Burial at Carr Cemetery, Cook Station, Missouri with pallbearers Keith and
Lonnie Farnsworth, Gregory Smith, Jake and Doug Lybarger and Dennis Frahm.
All arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
