Eugene (Gene) F. Hoffman
Gene F. Hoffman, of St. James, Missouri, formerly of Newburg, Missouri, was
born September 10, 1931 in Vessie, Missouri to James and Francis (Huskey)
Hoffman and passed away Friday March 29, 2013 at his home at the age of
81 years.
He was united in marriage to Frances Hunter on December 24, 1957 and to
this union two daughters were born.
Gene worked for the U.S. Forest Service until his retirement. He loved to
garden and coon hunt. His greatest joy came from the daughters he and Fran
had raised, providing them with three grandchildren. Gene loved every
moment that he spent with his family, just visiting or riding 4-wheelers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Francis Hoffman; his
brothers, Vernie and Junior Hoffman and sister, Sylvia Gilbert.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Hoffman of the home; daughters,
Catherine Macormic and husband James of Rolla, Missouri and Constance
Hoffman of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Joshua Stewart, Whitney
Macormic and Bryce Luther; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Monday, April 1, 2013 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Rolla
Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Rolla
Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor Paul Smith officiating.
Interment was in the Corn Creek Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla,
Missouri.
Raymond “Ray” L. McFadden
Raymond “Ray” L. McFadden of St. James, Missouri was born August 11, 1947
at Bakersfield, California to Raymond L. and Wanda (nee Fodge)
McFadden, Sr. and passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at his home in
St. James, Missouri at the age of 65 years.
Ray proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 till 1969. Ray
spent 16 years working for the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department and
seven years for the Cuba Police Department. He officially retired in 2009.
Ray had been a member of the Cuba and St. James VFW, the Masonic Lodge
of Steelville, the Eagles of Viburnum, Cuba Gun Club and a lifetime member
of the DVA.
Ray or as he was known “Skulls” enjoyed the horse races, rock and roll
music, traveling, playing Keno, fishing and watching the History Channel.
Every morning he enjoyed coffee with Latisha and he spent hours feeding
his fish and cattle.
He collected coins, baseball cards, signed baseballs, other sports
memorabilia, antiques and items with skulls on it.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Wanda McFadden.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa McFadden of the home; 10 children,
Ray and wife Tina McFadden of Alton, Illinois, Cindy and husband Chuck
Barton of Alton, Illinois, Dennis McFadden, Jason and wife Latisha
Wilkerson of St. James, Missouri, Andrew and wife Mary Jane McFadden of
St. Jacob, Illinois, Kelly Taupier of Lynn, Missouri, Wanda and husband
Mike Day of Racine, Wisconsin, John and wife Jihye Walker of San Mateo,
California, Alta Britton of St. James, Missouri and Ayla Britton of
Cuba, Missouri; grandchildren, Cassie, Raymond IV, Ashley, Chuckie,
Christian, Dennis, Anthony, Breanna, Jason, Ayla, Andrew, Jazlynn,
Tristin, Dacoda, Justin, Izabele, Jonathan, Joseph, Lilly, Brendan,
Kenzie, Gracie and one on the way; sister-in-law, Angie and husband
Allen Korman of Union, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at the Mizell
Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the
Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Special music was “Sergeant
McKenzie,” “Stairway to Heaven” and “Amazing Grace.”
Law Enforcement served as pallbearers.
Interment and prayers with full military honors followed at the Kinder
Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
Ruth Olive Ogle
Ruth Olive Ogle, nee Howdeshell, of Steelville, Missouri was born on
Friday, August 7, 1931 in Cherryville, Missouri to Eldon Estes and Rose
Eldora Parrett Howdeshell and passed away at Gibbs Care Center in
Steelville, Missouri Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the age of 81 years,
7 months and 16 days.
Ruth married Robert Wayne Ogle on May 5, 1950 in Steelville, Missouri
and to this union nine children were born.
Ruth was a lifelong resident of Crawford County attending Roanoak School
and Cherryville High School. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking,
watching the birds and feeding the birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Rose Howdeshell;
husband, Robert; daughter, Donna, sister, Daphana (Versel) Callahan;
brothers, Elbert (Myrna) Parrett, Treff (Vivian) Hogan, Dwight (Margaret)
Howdeshell, Noel (Helen) Howdeshell, Kenneth (Alameda) Howdeshell; infant
brother, James Gilbert Howdeshell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law,
Edward Lefler, Donald Crabtree, David Boldt, Freddie Ogle and Shirley
(Noel) Livesay; grandchildren, Dennis Lee Ogle, Jr., Stacy Ann Roper and
Bo Dean Roper; great grandchild, Conner Allen Gullet.
She is survived by her children, Rick Ogle of St. Louis, Missouri, Dennis
(Debbie) Ogle of Grafton, Illinois, Rhonda (Greg) Hill of Enid, Oklahoma,
Robert “Bob” L. Ogle of Cuba, Missouri, Linda (Dennis) Lea, Leona (James)
Jones, and Randy Ogle, all of Steelville, Missouri and Marie Roper of
Tecumseh, Oklahoma; sisters, Anna Mae (Kenneth) Biggs and Mary Lefler,
all of Overland, Missouri, Mildred (Paul) Conaway of Cuba, Missouri and
Juanita Crabtree of Bridgeton, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Raymond
(Glenda) Ogle of Bismarck, Missouri and James Ogle of Steelville,
Missouri; sister-in-law, Linda Ogle of Cuba, Missouri; 21 grandchildren;
28 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Monday, March 25, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. and funeral service
was Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating.
Burial was at the Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri.

Missouri.
Carolyn Jean Stabler
Carolyn Jean Stabler nee Kunz of Cuba, Missouri was born to Donald Kirk and
Margaret Jean Stearns Kunz on Thursday, November 27, 1958 in Baltimore,
Maryland and passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Missouri Baptist
Medical Center in St. Louis at the age of 54 years and 4 months.
She was a graduate of Elkridge High School in Elkridge, Maryland.
She married William “Bill” Patrick Stabler on September 14, 1981 in
Annapolis, Maryland and to this union two children were born.
Carolyn accepted the Lord several years ago and was a member of Bible
Baptist Church in Cuba, Missouri. She enjoyed camping and the outdoors,
as well as bowling and church related activities. Carolyn worked at Sonic
in Sullivan, Missouri, was the manager at Burger King in Cuba, Missouri,
and worked at Smokers Express also in Cuba, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Margaret Kunz;
parents-in-law, John and Marie Stabler; and brother, Donald Dixon.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Stabler of Cuba, Missouri; son,
Craig Stabler of Cuba, Missouri; daughter, Katie Stabler of Cuba,
Missouri; brothers, Richard Kunz of Baltimore, Maryland and Robert Fry
of Florida; sisters, Kathy (William) Brock of Pasadena, Maryland and
Judy (Wayne) Lester of Glenn Burnie, Maryland; brother-in-law, Mark
Stabler of Buffalo, New York; other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was Friday, March 29, 2013 at 1:45 p.m. at Jefferson
Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with Pastor Jason Bell
officiating.

Raymond Lee Stroup
Raymond Lee Stroup of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, Missouri
was born August 10, 1943 in Sullivan, Missouri to Robert and Sadie Wilson
Stroup and passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at the age of 69 years.
On March 17, 1978, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Callahan who
preceded him in death in 2008.
Raymond worked for several years for the Townsend Tree Service. He and
his wife, Sylvia attended the Center Ridge Church at Cherryville. He
loved to fish, hunt and play his guitar in his spare time.
He was preceded by his parents, Robert and Sadie Stroup; his wife, Sylvia
Stroup; one son, Raymond Stroup Jr.; one brother, Harvey Stroup; three
sisters, Maxine Elliston and husband Pete, Goldie Dunn and Dollie Brewer.
He is survived by his one son, Roger Stroup and wife Debbie of Rolla,
Missouri; two daughters, Crystal Cain and husband Steve of Cuba, Missouri
and Rhonda Stroup of Edgar Springs, Missouri; one step-son, Jeffery
Thompson and wife Amber of Oklahoma; three brothers-in-law, Woody Dunn of
Steelville, Missouri, Sam Callahan and wife Lilli of Cuba, Missouri and
Steve Callahan of Viburnum, Missouri; six-sisters in-law, Anita Nickelson,
Sharon Thompson, Sheila Simpson and husband Dennis, all of Steelville,
Missouri, Sondra Veach and husband Johnny of Cuba, Missouri, Cathy Brown
and husband Dwayne of Cherryville, Missouri and Patricia Reed of Ballwin,
Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Hailee, Walker, Hannah, McKenzie,
Gavin and Isabell Britton, Payton Cain, Jimmy Dale, Dustin, Cody and
Brittany Stroup; six great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at
the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Bob Coleman
officiating and Sam Callahan reading the obituary. Special music of
“Knowing you will be there,” “When I get where I am Going” and “Just
call me Gone” was played.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Martin-Trask Cemetery.
A special poem was read by Pat Reed, which was written by her. Music
of
“I Hope we walk the Last Mile Together” was sung and played by
Rev. Bob
Coleman and his wife Carol.
Casket bearers were Michael Garms, Dave Callahan, Steve Callahan,
Dave
Abernathy, Steve McMillen, Colin Coffman and honorary bearer, Dennis
Simpson.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of
Steelville, Missouri.
Elsie Jeannette Roberts Dennis Woolsey
Elsie Jeannette Roberts Dennis Woolsey, nee Arnold, of Ballwin, Missouri
was born on June 20, 1931 in St. Louis Missouri and passed away on
Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 10 days.
She enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, playing bingo and pool.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter; and two
brothers.
She is survived by her children, Larry (Judy)) Roberts of Seminole,
Oklahoma, Dan (Carmen) Roberts of Hillsboro, Missouri, David (JoEllen)
Dennis of Ballwin, Missouri and Todd (Deborah) Dennis of O’Fallon,
Missouri; stepson, Larry (Nancy) Groves of Redmond, Washington; eight
grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was at noon on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Skaggs Cemetery
in Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Dan Roberts officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home in
Steelville, Missouri.
