Buettner Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born Saturday, February 25, 1939 at Centralia, Illinois to Raymond and Ernestine (nee Allison) Buettner and passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the age of 79 years. Larry graduated from the Ferguson High School and then attended Washington University for two years, where he studied Psychology. Larry enlisted in the Army Reserves and served from 1958 to 1964. On March 1, 1958 at the Evangelical Reform Church in Ferguson, Missouri, Larry married Mary Parrott. Larry started his law enforcement career working for the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop I where he received the Pistol Expert certificate. Then he became an ATF Agent in Jefferson City, Missouri and they sent him to Washington D.C. where he trained as a Secret Service Agent. He was a Federal Game Warden for half the state of Missouri. He also worked for the St. Peters, Missouri and Salem, Missouri Police Departments and the St. Charles County Sheriff's Department. In 1980 Larry found the Lord and began his ministry career. His first church services were held at the American Legion Hall in Cuba, Missouri then at Cannon Community Church of Cook Station, Missouri. From 1983 to 1984 Larry attended Rhema Bible College at Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. After Bible College, Larry returned to Cuba to pastor and from 2006 to present Larry has been the pastor of the Faith Chapel Assembly Church of Cuba, Missouri. Larry enjoyed arrowhead hunting, quail hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ernestine Buettner; two daughters, Karen Ann Knight and Rebecca R. Buettner; brother, David Buettner; two brothers-in-law, Barrett "Barry" Houseman and Ted Parrott; and grandson-in-law, Nick Furr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Buettner of the home; one daughter, Linda Faye and husband Allen Pitts of Cook Station, Missouri; one son, Larry R. Hilda Hilliard Crow Hilda Hilliard Crow was born on July 27, 1933 in Ebensee, Austria to Rudolph and Maria (Glas) Strauss and passed away March 19, 2018 at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 23 days. Hilda grew up during the World War II. She spent many hours with her father, who taught her to fish, shoot a crossbow and ski. Hilda grew up to be an adventurous, optimistic and loving woman. Hilda met and married Gus Hilliard when he was stationed in Austria during the American Occupation. Hilda and Gus made their way to the United States. Hilda became a member of Reedville Baptist Church and she dedicated her life to Christ. Gus became ill and disabled and passed away at a young age in 1973. After a period of time, Hilda met and married Don Crow. Hilda and Don bought a farm outside of Bourbon, Missouri and they worked hard at building and running a dairy farm for 15 years. They immensely enjoyed opening their home as a gathering place for family and friends. The life-long friendships that they made over the years meant the world to them. Hilda and Don traveled to Austria several times with their friends and they even hosted several of Hilda's Austrian family members. Hilda was known for her sewing and quilting, but it was her cooking that left a lasting impression on others. Don became ill in 2004 and passed away right before Thanksgiving that year. Hilda continued to hold her family together and remained active until just a couple of years ago. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gus Hilliard; second husband, Don Crow; parents, Rudolph and Maria Strauss; three brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by her five children, John Hilliard of Bourbon, Missouri, Virgie McGill and husband John of Bourbon, Missouri, Tonni Hilliard and wife Kelley of Bourbon, Missouri, Janet Palmer and husband Kenny of Sullivan, Missouri and Christopher Crow and wife Tonya of Greencastle, Indiana; one brother, Alfred Engl and wife, Hildegard of Kostenberg, Austria; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; other extended family members and friends. Patsy Sue Basford Davis Patsy Sue Basford Davis of St. James, Missouri was born on January 21, 1933 to Ruble Eugene and Velva Pearl Robertson Basford in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the age of 85 years. Patsy married Russell Davis on November 21, 1952 in Salem, Arkansas. After attending high school in St. James, Missouri she worked at several places including the International Shoe Factory, California Manufacturing and Hutcheson Ford. But one of her biggest passions was her joy of reading and the adventure of books. This path led her to a job at the James Memorial Library in St. James. She retired from the library after many years of service, but still made weekly (sometimes twice-weekly) trips to the library. Patsy also loved to sew and quilt. She also enjoyed yoga and exercise, often shocking others in her exercise classes when she revealed her age. Patsy was baptized in the Bourbeuse River in her mid-teens, along with her mother and sister, Shirley. As a faithful member of the St. James Church of Christ, Patsy's warm heart and love for the Lord manifested itself in the help she gave others. Her influence and faith will live on through many including her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Davis; parents, Ruble and Velva Basford; and one brother, Gene Basford. On March 26, 1977 he married Karen Hanks in Chauvin, Louisiana. Sammy was employed in Louisiana on a shrimp and oyster boat for a few years and then as a mechanic. He and his wife, Karen moved to Steelville, Missouri about 11 years ago reuniting Karen with some of her family and the area she was from. He attended the Country Church in Cuba, Missouri with his wife. Sammy loved to fish, ride his motorcycle, play his guitar and sing Christian music. He loved family gatherings with a cook out. She graduated from Owensville High School and was a waitress for nearly 20 years. Joyce was united in marriage to Robert Weiskopf in 1960.Joyce and Robert lead a very simple life and they enjoyed fishing together. Robert passed away in May 1980. Joyce was later remarried to Roy Foster in 1983. They owned and operated Roy's Auto Sales for nearly 30 years. They enjoyed traveling all over the United States and doing some gambling along the way. Roy passed away in 2014. Joyce was baptized at Assembly of God Church in Sullivan, Missouri and had attended church there for many years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Weiskopf; second husband, Roy Foster; and her parents, Howard and Iola Farrell. (nee Farrar) Graddy and passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the age of 81 years. When Helen was four years old she was adopted by James and Ruth Newman. Helen spent her life taking care of her home and children. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading. She was a true Civil War historian. She had spent many hours researching family ancestry. Helen went to every cemetery in Crawford County, wrote down the names of every person buried in them and in 1993 published the book "Cemeteries of Crawford County Missouri." She dedicated the book to her family and ancestors of Crawford County. Helen loved Ireland. She traveled there several times and even lived there for a short time. Helen married Harmon Wright on March 11, 1989 in Cuba, Missouri. They were happily married for 27 years when Harmon passed away in 2016. They were member of the First Presbyterian Church when they lived in Cuba, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Newman; husband, Harmon Wright; one son, John Kimmel; and one brother, Edgar Graddy. She is survived by her children, James and wife Patti Kimmel of Pacific, Missouri, David Kimmel of Pacific, Missouri, Debbie and husband Clayton Stephan of Herman, Missouri and Diane Martin of Lakeland, Florida; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one sister, Irene Dixon of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; other relatives and friends. Memorial visitation will be Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba. Special recorded music will "How Great Thou Art," "In The Garden" and "You Raise Me Up" all by Daniel O'Donnell. Inurnment will follow at the Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri.
