Doris Ann Blue
Doris Ann Blue, 66, of Steelville, Missouri, fortified
with the sacraments of the Holy Mother Church Friday, March 24, 2006
surrounded by her children. She was born Thursday, May 4, 1939 in
Florissant, Missouri, the daughter of Edmund and Viola Chappe
Lorraine.
She was married to Bernard Keeven and later to William
E. Blue.
She is survived by four daughters, Karen Ruder and
husband Dave, Cathy Sellers and husband Brian, Donna Housewright and
husband Roger, and Renee Parrett and husband Blaine, all of
Steelville, Missouri; three sons, Larry Keeven and wife Donna of
Pacific, Missouri, Kenny Keeven and wife Becky and Jeff Keeven and
wife Tracy, all of Steelville, Missouri.
Fourteen grandchildren; one great grandson; one step
son, Richard Blue and wife Dana of Leasburg, Missouri. Four
brothers, Ed Lorraine and wife Carol of Florissant, Missouri, Mike
Lorraine and wife Brenda of Steelville, Missouri, Bruce Lorraine of
Wentzville, Missouri and John Lorraine of Florissant, Missouri.
Four sisters, Marie Korte of St. Peters, Missouri, Joan
Barteau and husband Frank of Florissant, Missouri, Cathy Weller and
husband Gary of Sedalia, Missouri and Pat Hammers and husband Kenny
of Wentzville, Missouri.
She is preceded in death by one son, Michael Keeven; one
sister-in-law, Joann Lorraine and one brother-in-law, Owen Korte.
Doris had worked at Brown Shoe Co. and later in the
kitchen at the Steelville Public Schools. She will be remembered for
her love for her children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters and
other family friends. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic
Church.
Celebration of Mass for Doris Blue was held Monday,
March 27, 2006 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville with
Father James Finder officiating.
Serving altar boys were Jake and Joe Howdeshell. Serving
as organist was Mary Elder and reading the scriptures was Sara
Farmer.
Casket bearers were Blaine Parrett, Dave Ruder, Roger
Housewright, Bill Taber, Brian Sellers, Michael Lorraine, Wesley
Sherrill, Kaleb Keeven and Nick Keeven with committal prayers and
burial in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.
All arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
William Enke
William "Herman" Enke of Blue Springs Missouri, formerly
of Cuba, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 13, 2006 at the age of
78.
Herman was born to the union of William Henry and Stella
Mae Enke (Farrar) on March 27, 1927. Herman served his county in
the U.S. Army during the 50s, and when he returned he married Marie
Miller of Phelps County, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and
Stella; two brothers Julius and Roy; and his wife Marie.
Herman is survived by five sisters and five brothers,
Joseph and Mary Hatchie of Dublin, California, Dorothy Hammond of
Cahokia, Illinois, Dollie Sheets of Nahunta, Georgia, Zelma and Roy
Wolf of Wichita, Kansas, Opal and Bill Hinch of Rolla, Missouri, Jim
and Kathy Enke of Robinson, Kansas, Gene and Brenda Enke of Birch
River, West Virginia, Doug and Shirley Enke of Sullivan, Missouri,
George and Faye Enke of Robinson, Kansas, Tom and Terry Enke of
Ooltewah, Tennessee.
Four step children, Royce Miller and Tony Miller of
Independence, Missouri, Bernita Fritzinger of Providence, Rhode
Island and Sheila Graham of Florida.
Services were provided by Marts Memorial Services.
Interment was in the Camp Creek Cemetery near Rolla,
Missouri.
Sarah Elizabeth Gearhart
Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Hulsey Gearhart was born
December 3, 1913 at Keysville, Missouri and passed away March 31,
2006 at Wellsville, Missouri at the age of 92. She was married to
James Lester Gearhart May 16, 1939.
She graduated from Steelville High School, graduated
from college and received her master's degree from the University of
Missouri, taking courses summer and weekends. She was a teacher and
principal in the Wellsville R-1 School District grade school.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents,
Cecil Hulsey and Grace E. Stennet; sisters, Anna K. Hulsey and Emma
Reader and brothers, James and Paul Hulsey.
Survivors include James Calvert "Jim" and Norma
Gearhart; granddaughters, Christina Elizabeth Robinson and Mary
Barnicle, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006
at the United Methodist Church in Middletown, Missouri with Rev.
Carl Knapp officiating.
Pallbearers were Bill Dunn, Jim Dunn, Larry Dunn, Gary
Heim, Tony Heim and Robert Woodson.
Burial was in the Fairmount Cemetery in Middletown,
Missouri. Services were under the direction of the Myers Funeral
Home.
Wilma Gormley
Wilma Gormley, 87, of Harrisburg, Illinois, passed away
at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2006 at Fountain View in Eldorado,
Illinois.
Wilma was born August 24, 1918 in Steelville, Missouri
to Clifford and Anna Harper Lambert.
She is survived by three daughters, Janet and husband
Joe Irwin of Harrisburg, Illinois, Sharlene Knight of Thompsonville,
Rita Carlton of Moberly, Missouri; one son, James and wife Brenda
Gormley of Belton, Kentucky; eight grand children; several great
grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Green of Golconda, Illinois
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Gormley
on November 30, 1999; parents, one brother, Richard Lambert; one
sister, Fern Farley and three grandchildren.
She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in
Mitchellsville, Illinois.
Services were on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the Aly
Funeral Home in Eddyville, with Rev. Billy E. Green officiating.
Internment was in the Macedonia Cemetery,
Mitchellsville, Illinois.
Tom R. Roberson
Thomas Robert Roberson of Richmond Heights, Missouri was
born in Nameoki, Illinois to the union of Clark Thomas Roberson and
Della Mae Humphrey Roberson on Wednesday, December 30, 1931. He
passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri on
Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the age of 74 years, 2 months, and 29
days.
Tom married Martha E. Bell in Steelville, Missouri on
January 15, 1952 and to this union five children were born. He
retired from General Motors working 35 years as a repairman and was
a member of the UAW union.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and had even
helped coach the Youth Maplewood Athletic Association softball team
for a few years. His hobbies were gardening and making improvements
and repairs around the house. Tom most of all was a loving husband,
father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law,
Ernest Bell; sister-in-law, Bonnie Bowman; sister, Marlene Pinson;
bothers, Jerry Roberson and Don Roberson.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife
Martha of the home; children, Linda (Barry) Isaac of DeSoto,
Missouri, Marilyn (John) Brockschmitt of Avon Lake, Ohio, Phyllis
(Gary) Collins of St. Louis, Missouri, Michael T. Roberson, and Lisa
(Kenny) Fulco all of Hilisboro, Missouri; mother-in-law Mabel Bell
of Cherryville, Missouri.
Brothers, James Roberson of Mesquite, Texas and Carl
Roberson of Lake Forest, California; sisters, Rosemary Grandfield of
Cuba, Missouri and Dorothy Hunt (Tom) of DeSoto, Texas.
Brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill (Juanita) Bell of
Steelville, Missouri, Don (Pauline) Bell of Watonga, Oklahoma, Steve
Bell, and Carol Sue Bell, all of Cherryville, Missouri, Jim Pinson
of St. Louis, Missouri, and Marie Roberson of Orange County,
California.
Fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, March 30, 2006 from 5-8 p.m. at
the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2006
at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Harold
Dean Maxey officiating.
Burial was at Martin Trask Cemetery, Cherryville,
Missouri with pallbearers Rick Austin, Brian Collins, Bill Shane,
Kenny Fulco, TJ Shane, and John Brockschmitt,
All arrangements under the direction of the Hutson
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Freida Marie Setzer
Freida Marie Setzer, 92, of Cuba, Missouri passed away
Wednesday, March 29 2006 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St.
Louis, Missouri. She was born Tuesday, March 24, 1914 at Huzzah,
Missouri the daughter of Henry and Sally Leffler Stotler.
She was united in marriage to Ray Otto Setzer on
November 12, 1934 in Rev. John L. Britton's living room. Ray
preceded her in death on July 12, 1973.
Freida is survived by two sons, Charles Setzer of Cuba,
Missouri and Ray Setzer and wife Melba of Portland, Oregon; two
daughters, Alvina Penning and Doris Andrews, both of Cuba, Missouri;
13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and six great, great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Troy
Stotler, Clifford Stotler, and Claudi Stotler; five sisters, Zelda
Stotler, Irene Stotler, Dorothy Huitt, and infant twins, and two
sons-in-laws, Bud Penning and Marvin Andrews.
Freida had worked as a lab technician in the medical
field in St. Louis where she made surgical needles. She also quilted
and fished. Her greatest love was her flowers, playing bingo and
pinochle.
Funeral services for Freida Setzer were held Saturday,
April 1, 2006 in the BrittonBennett Funeral Home in Steelville,
Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.
Special music was "Thank You for Giving to the Lord"
sung by Brad Bouse" and "Just a Closer Walk" was sung by Cherrie
Simpson.
Following the wishes of Freida, the procession followed
to the Shoal Creek Church where the Hymns of "How Great Thou Art",
"Precious Memories" and "I'll Fly Away" were sung ending with "Go
Rest High on a Mountain" by Jerry Beers.
At the graveside Rev. Jerry Beers closed with committal
scripture and prayers and closing song of "Amazing Grace" sung by
Cherrie Simpson.
All arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Mildred Mae Shields
Mildred Mae Shields of St. James, Missouri passed away
March 13, 2006, at the St. James Nursing Center. She was 77 years 2
months and 5 days of age.
Mildred Shields was born in Phelps Co. on January 8,
1929, the daughter of the late Lem W. and Nellie Jane (Duncan)
Ragan.
Mildred Shields had a life - long faith in God that
carried her through to the end of her life. She was a member of the
Flag Springs Church.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Mack Shields. He
entered into rest October 1981. Later in life she married Raymond
Love who entered into rest November 2003.
Survivors are her sons, James W. R. Shields Sr. and his
wife Sylvia of St. James, Missouri, Kenneth A. Shields and his wife
Dollie of Chapman, Kansas, Dennis E. Shields and his wife Roberta of
St. James, Missouri and Mike L. Shields and his wife Linda of St.
James, Missouri; daughter, Diana Stewart of St. James, Missouri; 10
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Mildred Mae Shields is preceded in death by her parents
Lem and Nellie Ragan, her husbands: Raymond Shields and Raymond
Love, one daughter Debby Faye Shields and one sister Opal Faye
Ragan.
Mildred Mae Shields was in state from 5-8 p.m.
Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
Funeral Service were conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, March
16, 2006 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James with Rev.
Gary Bartle officiating. Music was provided by vocalists Rhonda
Boren, Cheryl Harlan and Rena Stewart with Judy Bartle at the organ.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Raymond Shields Jr., Josh
Shields, Stephen Shields, Michael Shields, James Shields, Jr., and
Coty Stewart. Burial was in the family plot at the St. James
Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Jones
Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Olen Cleo Wilhite
Olen Cleo Wilhite (also known as Papa), son of Charles
and Elizabeth Wilhite was born on March 23, 1917 in Courtois,
Missouri and passed away March 24, 2006 at the age of 89. Olen was
united in marriage to Hazel Anderson on May 25, 1940. To this union
of marriage two sets of twins were born, Olen Ray, Charles, Ruth,
and Ruby. Charles died in infancy.
Olen was preceded in death by his beloved wife Hazel;
his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Wilhite; two sons, Charles and
Olen Ray; daughter-in-law, Janet Wilhite; one brother, Arlie
Wilhite; four sisters, Esther Laramore, Lura Midgett, Ona Evans and
Dona Young; brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
As a young man he proudly served in the CC Camp. He
worked as a carpenter until his retirement, which he enjoyed, to the
fullest. As an avid fisherman you could find him at a lake, a river,
a creek, or anywhere water and fish could be found. He also loved to
hunt deer and turkey. God blessed him with a beautiful singing voice
and he loved playing the guitar. He was baptized in the First
Baptist Church of Stanton and found great peace in his faith.
A devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle,
and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all his family and
friends. His surviving family includes daughters, Ruth Kulp and her
husband Ronald of Cuba, Missouri, Ruby Wilhite of St. Louis,
Missouri.
Beloved Papa of Elizabeth Ellis and husband Scot, Terri
Weekes and husband Sandy, Sherri Darby, Charles Wilhite, and Chad
Wilhite; six great grandchildren, Megan, Cory, Castin, Ed, Alex,
Andrew; sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear
friends.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, March
28, 2006 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with
interment in Rock Hill Cemetery, Stanton, Missouri.
