William “Bill” Curtis Bobbitt
William “Bill” Curtis Bobbitt of Bourbon, Missouri was born on
January 8, 1944 in Steelville, Missouri to Frederick Franklin and Addie
Elizabeth (Stringer) Bobbitt and passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at
the age of 67 years.
Bill was united in marriage to his first wife, Jean Carol King, and to this
union one son, Randy Neal Bobbitt, was born.
Bill was a proud member of Cave Springs Baptist Church and lived each day
through his love for the Lord and his family.
Bill took much pride in his horse, Tony, and loved to go riding. He enjoyed
the great outdoors and spent his time hunting, fishing, camping and coon
hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Addie Bobbitt; one
brother, Marion Lee Bobbitt and his first wife Jean King.
He is survived by his son, Randy Bobbitt and wife Tami; three grandchildren
Ryan, Tara, and Tori Bobbitt; one brother, Jim Bobbitt of Columbia, Missouri;
three sisters, Rita Hunter and husband John, Joyce Phares and husband Lacy,
all of Salem, Missouri, and Mary LaPlant and husband Tom of Steelville,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on March 30, 2011 at the Eaton Funeral
Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral service and interment was at 11 a.m. on March 31, 2011 at Cave
Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Dixon and Pastor Charles Idleman
officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan,
Missouri.
Sue Lynn Brown
Sue Lynn Brown, formerly of Cuba, Missouri, was born on March 28, 1957 to
George and Sarah Brown and passed away on Tuesday February 15, 2011, at the
Circle of Life Hospice Hospital in Springdale, Arkansas, after an extended
illness, at the age of 53 years.
She grew up in Cuba, Missouri and graduated from Cuba High School in 1975.
She attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri
and graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering.
After her graduation, Sue worked for many companies, two of which were Lee
Jeans and Wolferman’s.
She lived in Olathe, Kansas until moving to Rogers, Arkansas in July, 2010.
Sue was proceeded in death by her parents, George and Sarah Brown, formally
of Cuba, Missouri and her brother, Stanley Brown.
She is survived by brothers, Dennis and wife Mary Brown of Illinois and
Donald Brown of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Penny Brown of Tennessee; two
nieces; two nephews and seven great nieces and nephews.
Freda Jesteen Claas
Freda Jesteen Claas of New Haven, Missouri, was born in Leslie on
January 11, 1915 to Nellie (Vaughn) and William Shaw and passed away Sunday,
March 27, 2011, at the New Haven Care Center in New Haven, Missouri at the
age of 96 years, 2 months and 16 days.
On July 6, 1931 in Leslie she was united in marriage to Carl Claas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a son, Harold Claas and
two brothers, Ollin and Marvin Shaw.
She is survived by her children, Charles Claas and wife Fern of Beaufort,
Missouri, Jerry Claas and Jan of Gerald, Missouri and Betty McGowan and
husband Richard of Bourbon, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Claas of
Gerald, Missouri; sister, Delma Shaw of Owensville, Missouri; seven
grandchildren; three great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation began at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the
Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville with Rev. Terry Knight officiating.
Burial was in the St. Paul’s Cemetery in Gerald, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Gottenstroeter Funeral home in
Owensville, Missouri.
Harvey “Shorty” Eugene Conner
Harvey “Shorty” Eugene Conner of Sullivan, Missouri was born on Wednesday,
September 17, 1924 in Wappapello, Missouri to Maggie (Owens) and Albert
Conner and passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the St. Clair Nursing
Center, St. Clair, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 12 days.
Harvey or “Shorty” as he was known, enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved
to work in his garden and was able to grow huge vegetables. Harvey was the
oldest of 15 children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maggie and Albert Conner; two
daughters, Doris Wielms and Cathy Neff and two grandchildren, Paula Weinmann
and Michael Clinton.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Northcutt) Conner of Sullivan, Missouri;
two daughters, Trina Davis and husband Ray of Richwoods, Missouri and
Rebecca Jones and husband Jeff of St. James, Missouri; two sons, Frank
Conner and wife Carolyn of DeSoto, Missouri and David Sprous and wife Terry
of DeSoto, Missouri; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, one great
great grandchild; numerous step grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 5-9 p.m. and Friday,
April 1, 2011 from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi,
Missouri.
A funeral service was held Friday, April 1, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Moore
Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor David Godat officiating.
Pallbearers were Andrew Davis, Isaias Penaloza, Kyle Weinmann, Rodger Wielms,
Bryan Wielms, Cody Kohm and Kenny Recar.
Final prayers and burial took place in the Horine Cemetery, Richwoods,
Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Moore Funeral Homes in Potosi,
Missouri.
Roberta Mae Ives
Roberta Mae Ives nee Herzberg of Carthage, Missouri was born on Wednesday,
May 22, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri to Theodore and Lavern Riece Herzberg
and passed away in Joplin, Missouri on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the age
of 75 years, 10 months and 8 days.
She married Dewey Cecil Ives on June 9, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Roberta worked in sales for a leather goods manufacturing company for
several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Lavern Herzberg;
husband, Dewey and brother Theodore Herzberg.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Evans and Carol Albrecht, all of
Pacific, Missouri, Ronald Evans of Gray Summit, Missouri and Mark Evans
of Union, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Pauline Rains of Steelville, Missouri
and Connie Pruitt of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren; one great
grandchild; other relatives and friends.
There will be no public service held.
Burial in Schwieder Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri at a later date.

Missouri.
Melba Eileen Kolumba
Melba Eileen Kolumba of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina formerly of
St. James, Missouri, was born in Safe, Missouri on July 6, 1922 to Fred
and Laura Picker and passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 in Conway, South
Carolina at the age of 88 years.
Melba attended the Myrtle Beach Church of Christ when her health permitted
and had worshiped with the St. James Church of Christ before moving to
South Caroline to be near her son.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry H. Kolumba on June 24, 2005,
and a sister, Eva Markel.
She is survived by her son, John Kolumba and his wife Sharon of Myrtle
Beach; brother, Fred Picker of Arkansas; two sisters, Freida Potter of
New Hampshire and Edra Byrd of California; three grandchildren, Adam,
Tyler and Grant; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Saturday April 2, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral
Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the
Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri with burial in the family
plot in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James,
Missouri.
June L. Lewis
June Louise Lewis was born June 1, 1917 in Kirkwood, Missouri to
William E. Poole and Sara Louise Bretherton, and passed away March 27, 2011
in Salem, Missouri at the age of 93 years, 9 months and 26 days.
On January 15, 1938 June was united in marriage to Chester Van Hounten
Lewis and to their union eight children were born.
After their marriage in 1938, June and Chester moved to Anderson, Indiana,
where they resided until they moved to Salem, Missouri in 1974.
She quickly made friends in the area through her activity in the Dent
County Home Economics Club. She brought beauty to the world through her
gardening, knitting and sewing. She made quilts for all her children
and grandchildren, and they are cherished by everyone who has them. She
enjoyed the holidays as having family with her was her most treasured time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sara; her husband,
Chester on March 4, 1999 and two sons, Samuel Poole Lewis and Thomas
Martin Lewis.
She is survived by her children, William Edward Lewis and wife Joyce of
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Chester Van Hounten Lewis and wife Ladonna of
Houston, Texas, Sara Ann Lewis of Castle Rock, Colorado, Katherine Marie
Lewis of Ferguson, Missouri, Jane Louise Bailey and husband Tony of
Anderson, Indiana and Susan Ellen Mayer and husband Richard of Oakleaf,
Texas; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Lewis of Rolla, Missouri; sister, Vera
Kehr of Steelville, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Chapel of
the James & Gahr Mortuary.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Salem Chapel
of the James & Gahr Mortuary, with Pastor Doug Walter officiating.
Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Salem, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary.
Alice Mae McEuen
Alice Mae McEuen of Bourbon, Missouri, was born on March 20, 1944, in
Jonesboro, Illinois to Charles and Dolly Mae (nee Morris) Courtright and
passed away, Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the age of 67 years.
She worked for many years in the nursing homes as a Medical Technician, a
job she really enjoyed. Alice really enjoyed being a mother and
grandmother. She entertained her family with funny stories and making
everyone laugh. Spending time with her grandchildren was first, but
shopping and “junking”, as she called it, or reading was her entertainment.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dolly Courtright and
a sister, Sharon K. White.
She is survived by her husband, William Edward McEuen, Sr. of Bourbon,
Missouri; six children, Rick Monshower and wife Donna of Sullivan, Missouri,
Scott Monshower and wife Tammy of Warrenton, Missouri, Debra K. Monshower of
Springfield, Missouri, Kimberly Piersall and husband Dennis of Cuba, Missouri,
William McEuen and wife Treva of St. Clair, Missouri and Mark McEuen of
Bourbon, Missouri; brothers, Bud Courtright and wife Betty and Jerry
Courtright and wife Alice, all of Kansas City, Kansas; sisters, Wanda K.
Brookshire of Chillicothe, Missouri, and JoAnn Sharshell of Kansas City,
Kansas; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; other relatives and
friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011 in
the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Reverend Mike
Delashmit officiating. Cremation followed.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Rosella Skaggs
Rosella Skaggs, nee Wood, of Berryman, Missouri was born July 28, 1909 at
Upper Indian Creek in Viburnum, Missouri to Richard and Anna Henslee Wood
and passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at her home at the age of 101
years.
She was married to Claude Skaggs on April 7, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In the 1920’s, Rosella moved to St. Louis, Missouri and worked at Grandma’s
Bakery for several years. She later moved to Los Angeles, California for
many years and worked as a cake decorator for Pollyanna’s Bakery in East
Los Angeles. She married Claude Skaggs while there and moved on to South
Dakota. In 1978, Claude moved her back to Missouri and settled at Berryman,
Missouri.
She loved animals and was known to have many cats and dogs. She enjoyed
clipping newspaper articles and pictures and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Anna Wood; husband,
Claude Skaggs in 1989 and four brothers, Walter Wood and wife Mary Ann,
Herman “Bud” Wood and wife Virginia, Fredrick Wood and Hyle Wood and wife
Alice.
She is survived by her sister, Jennie Pauline Smith of Steelville,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from noon until service time on Sunday, April 3, 2011
at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Rod Farthing
officiating. Special music of “When the Roll is called up yonder” and
“Amazing Grace” was played.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery at
Viburnum, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Allan Wood, Winford Wood, Philip Wood, William Wood,
Clyde Helm and Kent Counts.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of
Steelville, Missouri.
