MO Local Obituaries for the Week of April 9, 2008 Lillian (Punk) Doris Barnicle Lillian (Punk) Doris Barnicle, of Steelville, Missouri, was born May 12, 1922 in Cherryville, Missouri to Charles and Lula Jane (Ennis) Martin. She passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Phelps County Regional Hospital in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 85 years. On July 11, 1937, she was united in marriage to Theodore Barnicle who preceded her in death on February 4, 1981. Lillian attended Center Ridge Pentecostal Church. Since a little girl, she loved music and enjoyed playing her guitar and she was always ready to go for a drive and take in a day of shopping. She especially loved being with all of her family and loved talking to all little children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, James Lee Barnicle; one daughter, Dolores Bryant; four brothers, Champ Martin, Cebe Martin, Nute Martin and Gene Martin, five sisters, Mae Martin, Lady Stringer, Stella Dotson, Beatrice Butts and Tookie Kallmbah and one granddaughter, Christine Bryant. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Brown and husband Dwight of Cherryville, Missouri and Helen McGruder of Steelville, Missouri; one sister, Mildred Graddy of Steelville, Missouri; one son-in-law Willard Bryant of Steelville, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Tammy Barnicle, Peggy Hayes, Ted Conrad, Kelly Tinker, Bill Barnicle, Larry Hutson, Lori Mabe, Allen Bryant and Bruce Bryant; 17 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Harrison Brown and Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace,” “Old Rugged Cross,” “Power in the Blood” and “I’ll Fly Away” were sung by Bob and Carol Coleman and accompanied by Shirley Brown on piano. Casket bearers were Bill Barnicle, AJ Tinker, Terry Counts, Zack Knox, Jim Martin, Henry Martin and Albert Martin. Committal prayer and burial were in the Schwieder Cemetery. Anita Irene Breuer Anita “Irene” Breuer of Cuba, Missouri was born Thursday, January 29, 1916 at Hayden, Missouri to the union of Elmer and Eva (nee Parker) Collins and passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Heritage Park Skilled Care Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 5 days. She was united in marriage to Leslie Howard Breuer on February 2, 1935 at Cuba, Missouri and to this union seven children were born. Irene attended the Cuba and Jakes Prairie Grade Schools and graduated from the two-year Job High School at Jakes Prairie. She was an excellent cook. She grew a beautiful garden of vegetables and flowers every year. She canned for hours vegetables and fruit so the family could enjoy throughout the year. In her later years, she enjoyed making quilts for her grandchildren as wedding gifts. For over 25 years, many knew Irene as the “Avon Lady.” She was a founding member of the Prairie Extension Home Economics Club (and was still a member when the club celebrated its 50th anniversary). She was a charter member of the evening chapter of TOPS MO#662, and later became a member of the daytime TOPS Club. She was a 4-H leader for the Prairie 4-H Club for many years and volunteered at the Crawford County Fair in the Home Economics exhibit area. She was awarded the Crawford County Extension Service Homemaker of the Year Award in 1980. She was a lifetime member of the original Oak Grove Church of Christ in rural St. James, Missouri. She faithfully attended worship each Sunday and was a Sunday School teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, John and Mark Breuer; two sisters and their spouses, Beryle and August Danuser and Jeannie and Chuck Neuner; three brothers-in-law and their spouses, Ivan O. and Jean Breuer, John R. and Mary Jane Breuer and Thomas Adrian and Johanna Breuer; sisters-in-law Marie Breuer and Grace Giesler and her husband Leo; two grandsons, Timothy A. Breuer and Timothy R. Breuer. Irene was the last surviving family member of her and Leslie’s generation. She is survived by four sons, Leslie Howard and wife Barbara Breuer of Alhambra, Illinois, Richard Harold and wife Jackie Breuer of Lancaster, California, Charlie and wife Dianne Breuer of Rolla, Missouri and Jack and wife Bonnie Breuer of St. James, Missouri; one daughter, Carolyn and husband Fred Thompson of Tampa, Florida; 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation was Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri with interment to follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery with Minister Chuck Ball officiating. At Irene’s request, her granddaughters sang “In The Sweet By and By” and “Precious Memories” during the funeral service. Pallbearers were Patrick Thompson, Jonathon Thompson, Gregory Breuer, Rick Breuer, Eric Breuer and Russ Persicke. Davin Ryan Ashtyn Brown Davin Ryan Ashtyn Brown, son of Tracy and Clifton Brown, was born November 4, 1988, in Osage Beach, Missouri, and passed away March 28, 2008, in Lebanon, Missouri. He enjoyed Mustangs and creating beautiful artwork. He attended First United Methodist Church and Stoutland Baptist Church. His family was always foremost on his mind. He adored his mother and regarded her as his best friend. He shared a love of music with his father Clif and enjoyed special time with his sister Jaessa who called him “Brother.” Davin graduated from Lebanon High School in 2007 and was currently attending Drury University. He was remarkably intelligent and took pride in his studies. He made many friends in school and treasured the moments that he spent with them. Known as DRAB to his “buds,” Davin was a friend to all in need. Carter, was born on January 4, 1956 in Steelville, Missouri to James Logan and Mrytle (Bryant) Harris. She passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008 in her residence at the age of 52 years. On March 16, 1976 she married John Lewis Carter, Jr. in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. She was an homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Richard Harris and two sisters, Norma Davis and Flora Harris. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Angela Bolduc and husband, Martin, Center Conway, New Hampshire and Jennifer Gardner and husband, Kyle, Fordland, Missouri; three brothers, Albert and Alfred Harris, both of Mt. He passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008 in Alton Memorial Hospital, Alton, Illinois at the age of 73 years. On September 15, 1952 he married Carrie Roberson in Hardy, Arkansas. He had worked at General Motors and before his retirement, operated A&H Tree Service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and one brother, Chalmer. Horsefield Jean J. Horsefield (nee Blevins) of Cuba, Missouri was born December 12, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to Howard and Edna (Hoelzer) Blevins. She passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the age of 71 years. She married Robert D. Horsefield on September 21, 1956 and to this union two children were born. She worked as an executive secretary in St. Louis, Missouri for a communications company and for the business manager of the Parkway School District for 10 years. After she retired, she and her husband moved to Cuba, Missouri in 1993. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband; brother, Brad Blevins of Texas; two children, Rhonda Rolfe and husband Pete of St. Clair, Missouri and Susan Reynolds and husband Kim of Roswell, Georgia; three grandchildren, Andrew Robert, Alyssa Paige and Jermiah Allan, all of Roswell, Georgia; other relatives and friends. Sylvia Irene Lunsford Sylvia Irene Lunsford of Steelville, Missouri She was born December 10, 1934 in Shannon County, Missouri to Oskin and Ellen (Watson) Ferguson, Missouri. She passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at her home at the age of 73 years. On January 31, 1952 she was married in Salem, Missouri to Norman Lunsford. Sylvia attended Center Ridge Pentecostal Church at Cherryville and the Assembly of God Church in Steelville. In her spare time and when health permitted, she loved to crochet and go camping with her family. She dearly loved being with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael Lunsford; five brothers, Cordell, Arthur, Darl, Harold and Harley Ferguson; two brothers-in- law, Raney and Raymond Lunsford; one grandson, Dale Lunsford Jr.; and two great grandchildren. Other special music of “Go Rest High” was sang and played by Rev. Jerry Beers and “I Sure Miss You” was also played. David Andrew Rowland David Andrew Rowland of Leasburg, Missouri was born Wednesday, October 10, 1928 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of William D. and Jessie (nee Russell) Rowland and passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 20 days. David served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Thelma Pratt on January 20, 1951 at Salem, Arkansas and to this union two children were born. David worked as a machinist for 38 years at McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leasburg, Sullivan Lodge #69 A.F. & A.M., Korean War Association in Rolla, Crawford County Memorial Post #88 A.L. In his spare time he enjoyed being a coin collector, farming, his cattle and just being a country boy. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Marvin Ware. Williams of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, September 2, 1949 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Clyde C. and May Rose (nee Eaton) Williams and left from this life on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 58 years 6 months and 29 days. Garry was married to Susan N. Combs and to this union three children was born. He was the owner/operator of CJ’s Repair and Refrigeration in Cuba for many years. He graduated in 1989 from Rolla Technical Institute (RTI) with a certificate in HVAC and “The Outstanding Student” award. In his spare time he enjoyed cooking, but he always cooked enough for an army. That way he could share with his children, neighbors, friends or anyone in need. He enjoyed Christian music and his dogs “Goliath and Queene.” But what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clyde Leroy Williams and Calvin Whitaker; one sister, Doris Jo Walton and one brother-in-law, Carl Mallison.
