Judy R. Gilbert
Judy R. Gilbert of St. James, Missouri, formerly of Rolla, Missouri, was
born on October 30, 1943 in Rolla, Missouri to Robert and Lorene (Black)
Matlock and passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the age of 68 years.
She married Earl Gilbert and to this union two children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lorene Matlock;
one son, Gordon Gilbert and one grandson, Christopher Duncan.
She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Duncan and husband Rodney of
Rolla, Missouri; one brother, Ronald Matlock and wife JoAnn of Lenox,
Missouri; three grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held at 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on
Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla,
Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Null and Son Funeral Home in
Rolla, Missouri.
Donald E. Howell, Sr.
Donald E. Howell, Sr. of Steelville, Missouri was born on Thursday,
August 27, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to Harry and Pauline Laster Howell
and passed away at his home on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the age of 75 years,
7 months and 6 days.
Don married Mary Jacqueline Garrison on December 18, 1954 in Wellston,
Missouri and to this union four sons were born.
Before retiring, he worked for more than 25 years as a manufacturing rep
for small appliance manufacturers. Howell-Retkowski & Associates was
located in Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri. He was an avid reader.
His hobbies were crossword puzzles, working in the yard and building
dollhouses for local children. He was a dedicated volunteer for the
Steelville Ministerial Alliance food pantry, Alternative Hospice and
frequently worked with the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Pauline Howell; wife,
Jackie Howell and brother, Daniel Howell.
He is survived by his sons, Donald (Jackie) E. Howell, Jr. of O’Fallon,
Missouri, Steven M. Howell of St. Charles, Missouri, Brian K. Howell of
Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Christopher E. Howell of Raleigh, North Carolina;
brother, Robert S. Howell of Hendersonville, Tennessee; sister, Katherine
(Charles) Bratkowski of Kirkwood, Missouri; brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law, Terry (Cleta) Garrison of Steelville, Missouri, Tom
(Audrey) Gregory of Lebanon, Missouri, Lynda Garrison of Arnold, Missouri
and Sharon (Vince) Russo of O’Fallon, Missouri; four grandchildren,
David, Jennifer, Jeremy and Emily Howell; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. at
St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Steelville, Missouri with Father James
Finder officiating and inurnment followed at the Steelville Cemetery.
A Memorial Service was at the Hutson Funeral Home on Thursday,
April 19, 2012 at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Beers officiating. A Celebration
of Life Reception followed from 4-6 p.m. at Center Point Baptist Church,
Steelville, Missouri.

Jean M. Kaufhold
Jean M. Kaufhold of Cuba, Missouri was born to William John and Harriet
(Beckett) MacKay on June 6, 1924 in Sandgate, Queensland (Australia) and
passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Cuba Manor in Cuba, Missouri at
the age of 87 years.
Jean was united in marriage to Anthony H. “Tony” Kaufhold, Jr. on
September 17, 1943 in Australia.
Jean was known in Cuba as the “Little Australian Lady” who came to do
wallpapering and painting. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and
enjoyed living on the farm, flower gardening, crocheting, knitting, birds
and rabbits.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Harriet MacKay;
husband, Anthony H. “Tony” Kaufhold Jr.; brothers and sister, William,
Harry, Alfie, Margaret, Alexander and James; three brothers-in-law, Fred,
Norman and Jim Kaufhold; three sisters-in-law, Pearl Matte, Marie Kincade
and Mildred Bogue.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, James and wife Barbara Kaufhold of
Cuba, Missouri, David and wife Sherry Bogue of Del Rio, Texas, Barbara and
husband Denver Britton of Rolla, Missouri, Cathy and husband Charles
Schroyer of Cuba, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Warren Kaufhold of
St. Charles, Missouri and Bill Kaufhold of O’Fallon, Missouri; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 5 p.m. until time of
Funeral service at 7 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Mace,
officiating.
Cremation followed the service, with inurnment at the Kinder Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
Curtis Rogers
Milo Curtis Rogers, formerly of Bourbon, Missouri was born on June 11, 1970
in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the age of
41 years.
He served for a time in the US Navy. He was very computer savvy and worked
on computers as a hobby / business. He loved animals, especially his cat
Abby, and was a huge baseball fan, especially the Cardinals. Whenever he
was in a city with a MLB Club, he visited their stadium with a goal of
visiting every major league team at their home.
He is survived by his mother, Patsy Jo (Hutschreider) Wideman and step
father, Randy of Bourbon, Missouri; a brother, Chris Rogers and wife Renee
of Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Memorial funeral service was held at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012 at
the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home with Pastor David Gargus officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Kathleen S. Tharp
Kathleen S. Tharp of Indian Hills, Missouri was born January 10, 1946 at
Wichita, Kansas to Robert and Margery (Hirleman) Sullivan, Missouri and
passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Missouri Baptist Sullivan
Hospital at the age of 66 years after battling ovarian cancer and
chemotherapy treatments for nearly seven years.
Kathleen retired from the Crawford County R-II School System in 1998 after
working there for 27 years as the elementary librarian and elementary
computer lab coordinator. After her retirement, Kathleen continued her
love of reading, cross-stitching, training and working with dogs. She was
the obedience dog training director of the Rolla Kennel Club in Rolla,
Missouri. Kathleen was also a certified therapy dog tester, and often
took Paddy, her Golden Retriever, into classrooms as part of a reading
program.
She is survived by her husband, Orville Tharp; a sister and
brother-in-law, Marianne and George Austin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; other
relatives and friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Donald J. Watson
Donald J. Watson of Bourbon, Missouri, was born at Cuba, Missouri on
December 11, 1924 to Clarence and Florence (Raymond) Watson and passed
away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the age of 87 years.
He was a resident of the Cuba and Bourbon, Missouri areas. Donald
honorably served with the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. After his discharge,
he came back to the Cuba, Missouri area where he was employed as a
machinist at Echo Supply Company in Cuba. After 42 years of employment
with the firm he retired and settled in the Bourbon area. Don was a
devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Bourbon, Missouri and was
actively involved in the bus ministry.
On March 8, 1974 he was united in marriage to Bernice Holtz at the First
Baptist Church in Bourbon, Missouri. They were so well known around the
church and in the community as many referred to them as “Uncle” Don and
“Aunt” Bea. Don enjoyed playing the fiddle and listening to Bluegrass
music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Florence Watson;
his wife, Bernice; a brother, Benjamin G. Watson; a sister, Jean Bay
and a nephew, Ben Watson.
He is survived by a step-daughter, Micky Sanders of Beaufort, Missouri;
two grandchildren, Sonya Smith and husband Greg and Clint West and wife
Emily; five great grandchildren, Tanza, Canyon and Bryn Smith and Megan
and Caleb West; a sister-in-law, Gentilla Watson of Arcadia, Missouri;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the Eaton
Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m., on Saturday, April 7, 2012
from the First Baptist Church of Bourbon, Missouri with Pastor Ted Hurley
officiating.
Interment was in the Hodge-Enloe Cemetery, rural Cuba, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Norma Jean Woodcock
Norma Jean Woodcock of Sullivan, Missouri was born on August 3, 1925 in
St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Maude (nee Campbell) Brown and passed
away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the age of 86 years.
She married Thomas “Junior” Woodcock, Jr. on June 22, 1946 in Sullivan,
Missouri and to that union nine children were born.
Norma enjoyed traveling and gardening and generally liked being outdoors.
She kept close friends in the “Birthday Club” and had a very sweet
disposition. As much as she loved these things, she loved being around
her children and grandchildren more than anything.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Junior; a son, Dennis Woodcock
and nine siblings.
She is survived by eight children, Nancy Murrie and husband Steve of Union,
Missouri, Karen Burmeister of Florissant, Missouri, Ellen Bryan of Bourbon,
Missouri, Laurie Keller and husband Tom of Washington, Missouri, Brian
Woodcock of Sullivan, Missouri, Julie Hook and husband Fred of Washington,
Missouri, Becky Woodcock of Sullivan, Missouri and Casey Woodcock and wife
Tammy of Sullivan, Missouri; a brother, Rollin Brown and wife Dorothy of St.
Charles, Missouri; 19 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; other relatives
and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the
Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Williams officiating.
Interment followed in the Oddfellows Memorial Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
