MO Local Obituaries for the Week of April 16, 2003 Imogene Evelyn Gottl Imogene Evelyn Gottl nee Vaughn was born Tuesday, February 5, 1929 in St. Louis, Mo., a daughter to the late Jesse Vaughn and Lisa Marie (Ponce) Vaughn. The family later moved to Leasburg, Mo. where Imogene attended high school. Imogene entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at the Caseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Caseyville, Illinois at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 4 days. Imogene was united in marriage to Delbert J. Sites of Steelville, Mo. She and her dear beloved first husband enjoyed their marriage until Delbert's death. From this union, two daughters were born. Imogene later married Raymond A. Richert, which was a wonderful father to her daughters and also gave her a son, Randall Matthew Richert. Sadly, that marriage ended in divorce. Later, Imogene married Al Gottl which preceded her in death in 1973. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her two daughters, Linda (Sites) Schepers and husband Garold of Wake Forest, North Carolina and Deborah Lee (Sites) Combs and husband Karl of Collinsville, Illinois; one son, Randall (Deby Doerhoff) Richert of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Donald Vaughn and wife Nancy of Cuba, Mo. and one sister, Gerri Falsetti and husband Frank of Florissant, Mo. In addition, Imogene is survived by four grandchildren; Christina (Schepers) White of Archdale, North Carolina, John Schepers of Bland, Virginia, and Matthew and Tyler Richert of St. Louis, Mo.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Imogene always enjoyed music and dancing and some of the first stories told to her children was how her mother, Granny Vaughn, would take her to the local dances and stay to chaperone while Imogene danced the night away. It was at one of those dances that Imogene met her future husband Delbert. They married and a whole new life began as Delbert was in the military. This meant a whole new world of travel for the young couple. Eventually, Imogene moved to Belleville, Illinois where she became involved with the Elks organization and was active with many community service projects. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Imogene Evelyn Gottl (nee Vaughn ) lay in state 12-2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2003, in the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2003, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Jim Simmons officiating. Linda Schepers gave the eulogy. Committal prayers and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Mo. Arrangements under the direction of Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Raymond R. Green, Sr. Raymond R. Green, Sr., son of the late Joseph and Sadie (Fanger) Green, was born July 19, 1915 on Hwy. KK at the Phelps/Crawford County Line. He married Lucille (Decker) Green in St. Louis, Mo. on April 20, 1940. In the 40s he moved to Daily City, California, and worked in the shipyards, coming home to Missouri in 1943. They moved to the Cuba area on Thurmond Lake Road, later buying a home at Grover, Mo. Raymond worked as a carpenter for many years. In 1965 Raymond and Lucille bought a farm in Cook Station, Mo. They enjoyed the farm for 20 years before moving to St. James. They both enjoyed the Senior Citizens get-together and volunteering in Diane Bohn's classroom at the elementary school. When Lucille died in June of 1999, Raymond lived by himself for a year before moving to his daughter, Susan's home in Robertsville, Mo. Raymond and Lucille enjoyed being involved with the Oak Ridge Cemetery, they put in many long hours to make sure that it always looked nice. Raymond leaves to mourn three children, Raymond Green, Jr. and wife, Linda, of St. James, Ralph Green and wife Joyce, of Chesterfield, Mo. and Susan Leuthauser and husband, Joel, of Robertsville; nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Lucille, sisters, Mamie Grempler, Stella Sheffield and Blanche Langley; brothers, Clarence Green and Joseph Edgar Green. Funeral service for Raymond Green were held Friday, March 7, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the St. James Chapel of James & Gahr Mortuary with Rev. Jerry Baumann officiating. Interment was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Crawford County. Music was provided by Marjorie Barton as the organist and providing vocals was Corrine Stumpf. All arrangements are under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Belle Ives Belle Ives was born at Steelville, Mo., Tuesday, March 10, 1914, a daughter of the late Walter Evans Halbert and Lilly Frances (Martin) Halbert. She entered eternal rest Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at the Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Mo., at the age of 89 years and 29 days. Belle was united in marriage to Edward V. Ives. One son, Dale Ives, was born to this union. Edward preceded her in death as did four brothers, Carmen Halbert and wife Mary Lee, Estell Halbert, Horace Halbert and Everett Halbert and three sisters, Hallie and husband Monroe Martin, Nelle and husband Walter Hotchkiss, and Leora Halbert; and one brother-in-law, Clarence Kreamalmeyer. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Jetta Ives of Weldon Springs, Mo.; two brothers, Dan Halbert and wife Ruth Ann of Cherryville, Mo., Homer Halbert and wife Ethel of Rolla, Mo.; one sister, Ina Kreamalmeyer of Steelville, Mo. Five grandchildren, Tony Ives and wife Lynne of Chesterfield, Mo., Dane Ives and wife Ruth, Deanna Janis and husband Wayne, Ed Ives and wife Melanie, Daryl Ives and wife Laura, all of St. Charles, Mo. Thirteen great grandchildren, Nick, Matt, Mandi, Lindsay, Alyssa, Chelsea, Katie, Danny, Allison, Drew, Isabel, Jetta and Jack; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, who will remember her as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Committal prayers and interment were in Schwieder Cemetery, rural Steelville, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Dane, Daryl, Ed, Matt, Nick, and Tony Ives. Clarence Dail McPherson Clarence Dail McPherson was born Friday April 5, 1940 at Cuba, Missouri, a son of the late Lee McPherson, Sr. and Flossie McPherson (nee Lee). He departed this life Friday April 4, 2003, in the Harry S. Truman Veterans Memorial Hospital, Columbia, Missouri, at the age of 62 years, 11 months and 29 days. On January 23, 1968 Dail was united in marriage to Nina Conaway. They have enjoyed 35 years together. Dail served his country in the United States Army from August 8, 1963 to August 6, 1965. He was a farmer and well-known floral designer. His award-winning career in the florist industry spanned over 40 years and provided countless beautiful floral arrangements for patrons of several florists in the Springfield, Cuba, Steelville, and Salem areas. Dail enjoyed life and fully appreciated the beauty found in those he knew and loved. In the closing days of his life his thoughts increasingly centered on his grandchildren. He enjoyed even the smallest amount of time he could spend, watching them play or visiting with them. Even something as simple as a three minute phone call could make for a more pleasant afternoon or evening. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill McPherson and Lee McPherson, Jr., one sister Lovena Downs and one brother-in-law Wendell Downs. Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Nina McPherson and one daughter Jimalee Deann McPherson of the home in Cherryville, Missouri. One son, Matthew Dail McPherson and wife Billie of Steelville, Missouri. A niece (thought of as a daughter) Nancy Quartermouse and husband Rodger of Lonedell, Missouri; a foster daughter Laura Dorr and husband Robert of Vanndale, Arkansas. Two brothers Tom McPherson and wife Maggie of Bradenton, Florida, and Jim McPherson and wife Peggy of the Branson Missouri Area. Sisters-in-law Mary Ann McPherson of Cuba, Missouri; Velva McPherson of St. Louis, Missouri and Judy McPherson of Sullivan, Missouri. Two granddaughters Ariel Dawn and Madalyn Clara. A step grandson Josh, and a foster grandson Curtis; other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Requiem mass was held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Salem, Missouri with Father Dan officiating. Dail will be laid to rest on the family farm in Cherryville, Missouri at a future date. Arrangements under the direction of Britton Bros.
