On July 8, 1939 in Waynesville, Missouri she was united in marriage to Benjamin Woodrow Alvey.Lucy attended the Rock Springs Baptist Church near Licking, Missouri many years ago and was baptized in the church. She always enjoyed crocheting in her spare time. She was musically inclined and loved to play her harmonica and listen to Bluegrass music. She was preceded in death by her parents, Todd and Lou Firestine; her husband, Benjamin Alvey in April 1987; three sons, James, Bobby and Charles Alvey; two infant daughters, Helen and Barbara Alvey; one brother, Robert Firestine; and four sisters, Rosie, Ruby, Gladys and Letha. She is survived by her three sons, Billy Alvey and wife Iona of Cuba, Missouri, Chester Alvey and wife LaDonna of Cherryville, Missouri and Lester Alvey of Bourbon, Missouri; one daughter, Loretta Troutt and husband Vick of Steelville, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; special friend, Richard Hutson of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Ava Marie Cartwright Ava Marie Cartwright of Bourbon, Missouri was born on September 27, 1925 to Troy and Elsie (Gormley) Wymer at Butts, Missouri and passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 6 days. On November 30, 1946 she was united in marriage to Henry Cartwright at Bolivar, Missouri and three children were born to their union. Ava was employed at Bourbon Junior High where she taught English and later senior Spanish. After retiring, Ava worked in her quilting shop, which was located behind her home. She made many beautiful quilts and also quilted for others.  She was member of the Silver Dollar City Craft Guild.   She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Elsie Wymer; and husband, Henry Cartwright. She is survived by two sons, Chester Cartwright and wife Gina of Riverside, California and Clarence Cartwright and wife Nancy of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Clara Bills and husband Don of Grove Springs, Missouri; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Wymer of Sullivan, Missouri and Howard Wymer of Richland, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Edith Rosanna Crum Edith Rosanna Crum of Vienna, Missouri was born June 27, 1927 at Jakes Prairie, Missouri to George Albert and Lora Ellen (Ferris) Frederickson and passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at the age of 86 years. Edith married Robert Cellis Crum, I on December 22, 1945.She had Master’s in Education Administration, teaching for more than three decades in public schools in Miller, Cole, Crawford and Maries Counties.   After retiring from the public schools system, she taught for several years at Visitation Catholic School in Vienna, Missouri. For more than 65 years she partnered in ministry with her husband, Pastor Cellis Crum, serving as pianist, Sunday school teacher and women’s leader at various churches throughout central Missouri. A 50-Year-Pin member of Eastern Star, she was active in Lodges in both Eldon and Vienna, Mo.  She was also a past member of the Rebecca’s Lodge in Eldon, Missouri. She was a woman of many talents and interests; an accomplished seamstress, cook, gardener and family historian.   She was an avid reader, and loved poetry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert on April 5, 2010. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Martha Crum of Spotsylvania, Virginia; two daughters and one son-in-law, Yvonne and Lyman “Sonny” Meyer of Meta, Missouri and Jana Crum and fiancé Joe Gray of Vienna, Missouri; one brother, Kenneth Frederickson of Springfield; 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren with one expected in the near future; other relatives and friends. Dace of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 9 days. She was united in marriage to Cyrus Dace on September 5, 1959. She loved gardening, canning, quilting and working alongside her husband on their farm.  She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Sullivan, Missouri.   She and her husband allowed many gatherings of family and friends to church retreats at their summer place on Brazil Creek in Washington County.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus Dace; three brothers; four sisters; a daughter-in-law; and three sisters-in-law. Hayes James E. Hayes of Steelville, Missouri was born Saturday, July 16, 1932 in Wellston, Missouri to James Anthony and Gladys Martha Bollman Hayes and passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 24 days. James graduated from McBride High School, St. Louis, Missouri then enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably during the Korean War. He married Jane E. Sifford on June 28, 1957 in Florissant, Missouri and to this union four children were born.   James drove a truck and retired after 30 years for the Grey Eagle Beer Distributers, St. Louis, Missouri. He was a member of the Local Teamster’s Union. He was a resident of St. Ann, Missouri for 42 years and then moved to Steelville, Missouri where he enjoyed restoring cars and rehabing homes. He was a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Steelville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gladys Hayes; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Aiello Hayes; and grandson, Andrew Hayes. He is survived by his wife, Jane E. Elsie Irene Hoerath Elsie Irene Hoerath was born on September 28, 1958 in Sullivan, Missouri to Ernestine Enloe and Norman Hoerath and passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014. As an infant, Elsie was christened in the Lutheran Church.  As a child, Elsie attended the Reedville Baptist Church where she later joined and was baptized in the Meramec River.   Elsie attended school at Bourbon, Missouri.  Throughout high school, she was on the Honor Roll, a member of the Beta Club, Spanish Club and played the flute in the school band.  When Elsie graduated school in 1977 she was awarded a scholarship to East Central College.   Elsie had started classes at ECC and was working part time when she was involved in an automobile accident.  As a result of the accident, Elsie was left with irreversible brain damage.  She however, did not give up and feel sorry for herself.  She always had a ready smile, a quick wit and a good sense of humor.  As an aunt has said many times, Elsie was a “tough cookie.”  Elsie had relocated and was currently residing in St. Louis County. Elsie is survived by her mother, Ernestine Enloe of Spanish Lake, Missouri; her father, Norman Hoerath of Bourbon, Missouri; uncle and aunts, Alvie and Betty Enloe of Sullivan, Missouri, Carol Gray of Lebanon, Indiana and Ruth Simpson of Bourbon, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Marie Virginia Neuf Marie Virginia (nee Sbabo) Neuf was born in St. James, Missouri on July 3, 1933 to John and Rosa Sbabo and passed away April 5, 2014 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 80 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rosa Sbabo; husband, Fred in 2008; daughter, Lois Ann in 1965; son, Gary Lee, in 1997; and daughter-in-law, Karen Marie, in 2010. Wanda Gray Scaggs Wanda Gray Scaggs of Sullivan, Missouri was born June 25, 1928 to Alfred and Ada (Buckner) Williams in Texas County near Licking, Missouri and passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the age of 85 years. Marie Wandalea Williams, known as Wanda to her family and friends, was raised and educated near Licking, Missouri. On April 13, 1953 was united in marriage to Charlie Gray.  She and Charlie moved to Sullivan, Missouri in 1954.   Wanda was a homemaker who enjoyed her children and their activities. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting and her chickens, ducks and geese. Charlie passed away in 1989.  Wanda was a volunteer for Missouri Baptist Hospice for 12 years and was member of New Testament Baptist Church.   In 1993 Wanda was married to Guthrie Scaggs passed away in 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ada  Wiliams; husbands, Charlie Gray and Guthrie Scaggs; son, Charles Gray, Jr.; brother, Jules Williams; and sister, Frieda Hayes. She is survived by two sons, Billy Gray and wife Bridget of Sullivan, Missouri and Che Gray of Wentzville, Missouri; two daughters, Judy Wilmont and husband Randy of Salem, Missouri and Jerri Janssen of Sullivan, Missouri; three brothers, Dale Williams of Sullivan, Dean Williams of Cuba, Missouri and Ross Williams of Licking, Missouri; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three great great grand- children; other relatives and friends. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.   Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.   Michelle Lynn Johnson Sindeff Michelle Lynn Johnson Sindeff of Vichy, Missouri was born February 17, 1960 in Belleflower, California to Bascom and Jean Ann Catherine Williamson Johnson and passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014 at the age of 54 years, 1 month and 21 days. She was an accountant for the Missouri National Guard and a Social Worker for DFS. She made wonderful blankets for all the grandchildren and even for the dogs and cats. She made outfits for all of her children and the cousins. She loved her Sunday Nascar and Saturday night races. Dale Earnhardt was the only real race car driver out there according to Michelle. She provided food for every benefit and get-together that the Vichy Fire Department had. She was the family organizer; never forgetting a niece, nephew, or a sisters grandchild’s birthday. She was a leader and guidance counselor as well. She loved people, Nascar, bingo, pool, crocheting and Disney Movies. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bascom and Jean Johnson; one daughter, Shilynne Pauline Ann Johnson; and one sister, Autumn Johnson. She is survived by her husband of the home, Philip Sindeff of Vichy, Missouri; two sons, Sean Michael Coby Johnson and wife Camille of Marthasville, Missouri and Matthew Thomas Edward Sindeff and wife Leann of Vichy, Missouri; daughter, Catherine Marie Leigh Johnson of Miami Beach, Florida; sisters, Brettina Johnson of California, Lisa Jin Johnson of Owensville, Missouri and Jean Ann Hinds of St. Clair, Missouri; one brother, Brett Johnson of California; two grandchildren soon to arrive; other relatives and friends. Allie France Bell Wiese Allie Frances Bell Wiese of Sullivan, Missouri was born on June 13, 1921 at Elmont, Missouri to James Stuard and Frances Allie (Webb) Bell and passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at the age of 92 years, 9 months and 21 days. She lived her early years in Granite City, Illinois but lived the majority of her life in the Sullivan, Missouri area.   On August 20, 1938 she was united in marriage to Melvin Wiese and to this union two children were born.   For a time, Frances was employed at the former International Shoe Company in Sullivan, Missouri and later with the former Ramsey Corporation in Sullivan, Missouri where she was an inspector.  Frances was a member of the First Assembly of God and was a Sunday school department superintendent for many years.  She read her Bible daily and would read its entirety yearly.  As her eyesight failed her, she listened to an audio version of the Bible and devoted her days to praying. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin on November 20, 1970. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Elsperman of Sullivan, Missouri; one son, Leo Wiese of Bourbon, Missouri; five grandchildren, Lynne Ledbetter and husband Phil, Lane Wiese and wife Sherri, Leroy Wiese and wife Diana, Lance Wiese and wife Michelle and Jeannine Berti and husband Robby; 17 great grandchildren, Becky and Marc Ledbetter, Ashley Bader, Cole Schmidt, Luke, Josh, Morgan, Logan, Landan, Levi, Lake, Allie, and Liam Wiese, Myles Beckett, Devon Payne, Meghan and Maisie Berti; and five great great grandchildren, Ryleigh and Colton Bader, Alexis Ledbetter, Abigail Payne and Emma Wiese; other relatives and friends.
