Tilden “TL” Lynn Bond
Tilden “TL” Lynn Bond of Cuba, Missouri was born
Friday, September 4, 1936 in Peoria Heights, Illinois to Charles
Tilden Bond and Edna Lucille Downer Bond. He passed away Tuesday,
April 10, 2007 at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 6 days.
Lynn married Donna Kay Zimmerman at Concordia Lutheran
Church, Cottage Hills, Illinois on May 6, 1962 and this union two
children were born.
He was a general contractor and built several homes in
the area. He also was a real estate broker for over 20 years. He was
a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cuba, Missouri. He liked
thoroughbred horse racing and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce
Riechmann and brother, Rick Bond.
He is survived by his wife; children, Charles David Bond
(Rhonda) of Cuba, Missouri and Janet Linn White (Troy) of Rolla,
Missouri; one brother, Terry Gene Bond (Jennifer) of Pierron,
Illinois; sisters-in-law, Annette Strasen and Deborah Diveley
(Terry) all of Bethalto, Illinois and Colleen Perry of St. Clair,
Missouri; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many
friends.
Visitation was Thursday, April 12, 2007 from 4-8 p.m. at
the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral services were Friday, April 13, 2007 at 11 a.m.
at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Jeff
Schanbacher officiating.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Dustin Bond and Titus
Singleton; nephews, Dennis Strasen, Daryl Riechmann, Greg Skinner,
Kevin Kramer and Tim Markley. Honorary pallbearers were Richard
Strasen and Terry Bond.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson
Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Catharine Irene Cozart
Catharine Irene Cozart, 81, of Festus, Missouri,
formerly of Leasburg, Missouri, was born August 3, 1925 at Hot
Springs, Arkansas to Dolphus Burgess and Viola (Fikes) Burgess, and
passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Jefferson Memorial
Hospital, Crystal City, Missouri.
She was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist
Church, Festus, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
Rev. John Q. Cozart; and son, Roy M. “Mike” Cozart.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Linda Cozart;
three grandchildren, Maleah Shay (Casey) Watson, Villa Ridge,
Missouri, Shawn Michael (Shannon) Cozart, Bradenton, Florida and
Ryan Matthew Cozart, Villa Ridge, Missouri; sister, Mildred Rucker,
Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Visitation was Monday, April 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the
First Baptist Church, Leasburg, Missouri. Funeral services were held
Monday, April 16, 2007 at the First Baptist Church, Leasburg,
Missouri with Rev. Jack Shepard, Pastor of Bible Baptist Church,
Cuba, Missouri officiating.
Burial was in the Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Vinyard
Funeral Homes, Inc., Festus, Missouri.
Edward Lee Jennings
Edward Lee Jennings of rural Oak Hill, Missouri passed
away Friday, April 6, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield,
Missouri at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 2 days.
Ed was born on July 4, 1922 at St. Clair, Missouri to
John L. Jennings and wife Maude Jennings, nee Asplin. The family
later moved back to the Sappington Bridge area near Sullivan,
Missouri where he grew up and received his education through high
school. He worked on area farms with horses and mules to help
support the family during the depression and joined the CCC Camp at
Sullivan to help build Meramec State Park and other projects in
Crawford and Franklin counties.
He was working on construction jobs in western states
until he was drafted into service in WWII, serving in the U.S. Army
79th Infantry Division. He fought in the Normandy D-day Invasion;
Battle of the Bulge; Rhineland Campaigns; and was in the following
countries: France, Holland, Belgium, Austria and Germany. He earned
three Bronze stars with Oak Leaf Clusters, the European Victory
Medal, Normandy and Rhineland Campaign Medals, Good Conduct Medal,
Combat Infantryman’s Badge, French Diploma Freedom Medal, Missouri
Veteran Jubilee of Liberty Award, Army Sharp Shooter Badge, and a
Purple Heart for wounds received in action.
After an Honorary Discharge in 1945, he was united in
marriage to Doras W. Markley in St. Louis, Missouri in 1947 and then
went to work for the U.S. Postal Service. Later he went back into
the construction field and started his own roofing and siding
business in St. Louis County for over 30 years. After retiring he
moved to his farm near Oak Hill and lived there until the time of
his death; raising cattle, horses, and enjoyed life everyday to the
fullest. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was a 55 year member of Carpenters Local #1739,
member of the America Polled Hereford Breeders Association, American
Quarter Horse Association, American Kennel Club Breeders Association
– German Shepherds, Missouri Farmers Association, Missouri Farm
Bureau Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Rifle
Association, American Legion, and member of Trinity Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister,
Alpha DeClue; one brother, John Jr Jennings; his close
brother-in-law, Sodo Moschetto; and his cousin and co-worker I.L.
Asplin.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Mike Jennings and
wife Julie of Cuba, Missouri, and John L. Jennings and wife Debbie
of Union, Missouri; one special daughter, Shelley of the home; five
grandchildren, Roy Jennings, Crystal Melies and husband David, and
Jessica Jennings, all of Union, Missouri and Karen Timmons and
husband Ted and Brian Jennings of Cuba, Missouri.
Three sisters, Maude Chapman of Eureka Springs,
Arkansas, Marie Shaw of St. James, Missouri and Doris Wagner of St.
Clair, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Moschetto and Ada
Maxfield, both of Cuba, Missouri; many other nephews, nieces,
cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Funeral services were conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, April
10, 2007 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan,
Missouri with Pastor Gary Mace officiating. Interment was in Oak
Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with full military honors.
James Daniel Lewis
James Daniel Lewis of St. Louis, Missouri was born
December 8, 1965 in St. Louis, Missouri to James Raymond Lewis and
Kathleen Kelly Lewis and passed away Friday, April 13, 2007 at the
age of 41 years.
James was married to Anna K. Muich on June 17, 2000. He
was a general contractor and carpenter. He enjoyed the outdoors by
hunting, fishing, canoeing and camping.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his
grandparents.
He is survived by is wife, Anna K. Muich Lewis; father,
Jim Lewis and wife Patricia; children, James Alexander “Alex” Lewis,
Brittani Bartel-Lewis and Jacqueline Eva Lewis; brothers, Robert S.
Lewis (Vicki), John P. Lewis (Mindy), Michael T. Lewis, Jackie R.
Montgomery; sister, Jerie Thomen; brother-in-law, Zlatko Muich;
mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joe and Eva Muich, all of St.
Louis, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial service was Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 1 p.m.
at the Kutis Funeral Home, St. Louis, Missouri.
Local arrangements were under the direction of the
Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Idris Ellen Mayfield
Idris Ellen Mayfield, 86, of Steelville, Missouri,
formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas, was born October 26, 1920 in
Osawatomie, Kansas, the daughter of George and Mary (Mulholland)
Casida, and passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at the University of
Missouri Center in Columbia, Missouri.
Idris was united in marriage to Roy Mayfield on July 22,
1943 in Biloxi, Mississippi and to this union three daughters were
born. After 52 years of marriage Roy preceded her in death in August
1995.
She was a graduate of Osawantomie High School in 1938
and attended junior college in Coffeyville, Kansas. She had helped
manage the little league ballpark in the early 1960’s and was the
past president of PTA at Garfield while her daughters were in
elementary school.
She taught Sunday school classes at First Baptist Church
in the 1950’s, she has been a member of the First Baptist Church of
Coffeyville since she was 18. She loved to bowl and had attended
national tournaments for almost 20 years. She loved to quilt, read
and playing bridge and cards. She worked at Kress’, Fraxie Firestone
and Sears and had managed Value Dress Shop.
She is survived by her daughters, Debra Helms and
husband Phillip of Steelville, Missouri, Royce Struble and husband
Ron of Culver City, Kansas and Rebecca Maycumber of Olathe, Kansas;
seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one sister, Wanda
Jeter of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Visitation was Friday, April 6, 2007 from 6-9 p.m. in
the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Graveside services were Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 10
a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas with Rev. Wayne
Norton officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Linda (Lynn) Scego
Linda (Lynn) Kay Scego nee Knepper of Cuba, Missouri was
born on February, 22, 1965 in St. Louis, Missouri to Leonard Knepper
and Dorothy Lee Huskey Knepper. She passed away at Barnes-Jewish
Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on Friday, April 6, 2007 at the age
of 42 years, 1 month and 15 days.
Linda married Douglas P. Scego in Cuba, Missouri on
December 18, 1999. She was a member of the Cuba VFW Ladies Auxiliary
Post 7147. She was a homemaker and especially enjoyed working with
her houseplants. Most of all she was an animal lover, and often gave
stray pets a home.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and
mother-in-law and father-in-law.
She is survived by her husband; father; brothers, Bill
Kneper and James Knepper, all of Cuba, Missouri; brothers-in-law,
Leon Scego (Brenda), Luke Scego, Denny Scego (Pat), Thomas Scego
(Carol), all of Owensville, Missouri, David Scego (Robin) of Leslie,
Missouri; and sister-in-law, Kathy Dahl (Roger) of Gerald, Missouri;
nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, April 10, 2007 from 1-2
p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Graveside service and burial was Tuesday, April 10, 2007
at 2:30 p.m. at Lick Creek Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri with Rev.
Norman Heironimus officiating.
Pallbearers were Richard Pitts, Chad Bailey, Bryan
Meyers, Eric Pitts, Steve Humphrey and Josh Humphrey.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson
Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
