She was united in marriage on October 24, 1934 to Treffie Howard Adams. Hilma attended the Liberty Baptist Church in Linn, Missouri. She loved singing and reading and spent many hours sewing and quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Frances Davis; her husband, Treffie in 1993; one son, Roger Wayne Adams; one daughter, Rowena Marcella Turnbough and husband Eugene; sons-in-law, Leroy Clayton and Orville Wilson; brothers, Louis Davis and wife Agnes, Glen Davis and wife Virginia, Gilbert Davis, Jack Davis and wife Ina, Max Davis, Gene Davis and Lydell Davis; sisters, Nerene McGlasson and husband Bruce and Hazel Gibbs and husband Ray; brothers-in-law, Jake Adams, Clifford Adams and wife Gertie; sisters-in-law, Minerva Arisman and husband Willard and Nellie Gillam and husband Les;  three grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Special music of “I’ll Fly Away,” “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden” was played. Committal prayer and burial were in the Old Dillard Cemetery at Dillard, Missouri. Thomas “Tom” Howard LaRonge?Boyd Thomas “Tom” Howard LaRonge Boyd of Lemay, Missouri was born March 17, 1957 to Charles and Elnora Ruth Setzer Boyd and passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at his home at the age of 56 years. He served in the U.S. Marines during 1974. Tom attended the Living Word Ministries in Arnold where Rev. C.L. Morrison was pastor for several years. He wanted to help others and would donate to “Adopt a Child” overseas. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles aeries #646, and Lemay V.F.W. He had worked in sales for several years as an ad marketer. Tom loved playing gospel and bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elnora Boyd; and one brother, David Allen Boyd. Carter of St. James, Missouri was born on February 3, 1930 in LaHarpe, Kansas to William Lawson Turley and Linnie (Tate) Turley and passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Marjorie was the youngest of 11 children born to her parents. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Linnie Turley; husband, John Carter; and son, Tom Reddington. Jerry Carl Claas Jerry Carl Claas of Gerald, Missouri was born in Leslie, Missouri on May 27, 1940 to Carl and Frieda (Shaw) Claas and passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at his residence at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 9 days. He had served his country with the United States Army. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Claas. Johnnie “Jack” Edward Harmon Johnnie “Jack” Edward Harmon was born April 20, 1925 in Matthews, Missouri to John Ural and Ella Mae Harmon and passed away April 10, 2013 at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 10 days. Jack was raised in southeast Missouri with his two brothers and two sisters until he went to Idaho to work at a Civilian Conservation Corps camp in the 40s. When he returned from CCC camp to Missouri, he met the Beulah Singleton. They were married in January 16, 1943 in Gray Ridge, Missouri. Jack worked diligently to provide for his family with a multitude of jobs around southeast Missouri and St. Louis including working on the Manhattan Project helping to build atomic bombs during World War II. Jack loved farming.  He and Beulah purchased a St. James farm in 1963 so their sons could attend UMR.  He worked at Rolla MFA as a miller until retiring in 1987. After his retirement they moved to Bolivar, Missouri, to be closer to their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ella Harmon; his wife, Beulah; and four siblings, William Bizzell, Marietta Heumann, Wanda Grimmig and Fred Harmon. He is survived by his four children and spouses, Larry and Paula Harmon of North Augusta, South Carolina, Lonnie and Rosalie Harmon of Carthage, Missouri, Lindell and Dixie E. Harmon of Stockton, Missouri and Lisa and Frank Walker of Jefferson City, Missouri; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Bizzell of Whitewater, Missouri and Dixie L. Earlene Kenney Earlene Kenney of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of St. James, Missouri was born June 13, 1926 in High Gate, Missouri to John and Laura (Bunton) Miller and passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 86 years. Earlene was united in marriage to Everett Kenney. They made their home in Cincinnati for the last 28 years. Although Earlene still made Cincinnati her home, she was spent a great deal of time in St. James with her sister and her extended family. She enjoyed her church and the church family. Her greatest joy in life was helping those in need. She was such a people person and was always on hand to volunteer in any situation, and most importantly had a smile on her face while she was doing it. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Miller; and husband Everett on July 23, 2007. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Crider of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the James & Gahr Mortuary. McIntosh of Cuba, Missouri was born Wednesday, May 22, 1935 at Cuba, Missouri to Wilson and Effie (nee Monda) McIntosh and passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the age of 77 years. Walter was united in marriage to Shirley Brown and to this union two children were born. Walter started his concrete finisher career in the mid 1950’s working in St. Louis, Missouri every day before going to work for Neil Schatz in Sullivan, Missouri and after nearly 50 years as a concrete finisher Walter retired in 2002 from Associated Crafts in Sullivan. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting (especially turkey and deer), fishing and gardening. He spent many hours working on lawn mowers and in his older years for exercise he would spend days cutting wood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Effie McIntosh; one brother, Gene and wife Marilyn McIntosh; two sisters, Helen and husband Tom Brennan and Juanita and husband Raymond Hughes; sisters-in-law, Betty McIntosh and Sis McIntosh. Doyle Lynn Prince Doyle Lynn Prince of Nampa, Idaho was born in Valley Park, Missouri and passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 in Meridian Idaho. Doyle was raised on a farm and attended Barretts Station (two-room) school grades one through eighth. He graduatedfrom Parkway High School where he was on the wrestling and baseball teams. He was also in Khorey League Ball. In 1960 he enlisted in the US Air Force and worked as an air-born refueler for four years. Most of his Air Force career he was stationed in Bermuda, as he flew out from there to various areas in the world. While in the St. Louis, Missouri area Doyle worked for Trans World Airlines as a construction worker and was a restaurant manager. He spent a short time working in Colorado as a milkman. After that Montana logging, hunting and fishing got in his blood and he spent 35 years mostly as a sawyer in the Superior area. It was there where he met Peggy and on May 30, 1973 they combined families to become one, adding one more child to the mix to be the tie that binds. Through the years he and Peggy took many adventures from logging together to team driving a semi coast to coast. His Missouri family remembers him as the best hunter in the group and have many stories of his escapades in the woods. He is survived by his wife, Peggy of the home; daughters, Kim of Silver City Nevada, Rone’ (Ramon) of Boise, Idaho and Becky (Darby) of Napa, Idaho; son, Kelly (Nikki) of Osage Beach, Missouri; grandchildren, Cassie (Kelly), Samantha, Warren, Joe, Taylor, Cameron, Cody, Sheamus and Liam; great grandchildren; brothers, Chuck (Rose Marie) of Delta, Colorado, Glenn (Sue) of Sullivan, Missouri; sisters, Carol (Jack) of Cuba, Missouri and Barbara (Al) of California; his precious girl, Kelly; other relatives and friends. James Rutledge Smith James Rutledge Smith was born on Saturday, November 12, 1927 in Caledonia, Missouri to Hunter Issac and Jeannette (Rutledge) Smith and passed away April 8, 2013 at his residence at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 27 days. Jim served in the United States Merchant Marines from April 11, 1945 through November 1946. Jim was recognized in December of 2000 for his service during the Cold War (September 2, 1945-December 26, 1991) in promoting peace and stability for this nation. Jim was a member of the Caledonia Methodist Church, Belgrade Lions Club, Tyro #12 Masonic Lodge for 60 years, devout member of the Washington County Democrat Club, Committeeman for Caledonia, The Popular Road Craft Association and the Jim Smith Society. The Caledonia Stock Farm was recognized as a “Century Farm” in 1977, where Jim resided and lived most of his life. He was a pilot. He owned the “Short-n-Ruff” Airstrip, home of the Quiverin Queen, (his alfalfa field and gyro-plane). He served as a member of the Potosi Airport Directors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hunter and Jeannette Smith; his wife, Verla Smith; daughter, Mary Gaynel Smith and a son, Hunter Edmond Smith. He is survived by his daughters, Glenda Coleman and husband Lynn of Potosi, Missouri, Janet Smith of Caledonia, Missouri, Betty Giles and husband Ted of St. Louis, Missouri, Connie Walton of Farmington, Missouri, Patricia Lawson of California, Missouri; two sons, Dannie Johnson and wife Vivian of Caledonia, Missouri, Johnny Johnson of New Mexico; sister, Ava Gay Britton and husband John of Cuba, Missouri; two nieces, Patty Campbell and husband Bruce of Cuba, Missouri and Jane Eads and husband Steve of Cuba, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Phyllis Young Phyllis Young of Sullivan, Missouri was born on November 27, 1947 at Saint Louis, Missouri to Robert H. and Pearl Grace (Mesger) Townsend and passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the age of 65 years, 4 months and 9 days. She had lived her entire life in Sullivan, Missouri and was a graduate of Sullivan High School, Class of 1965.  She then attended Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau, Missouri and in 1970, earned a Bachelors Degree in Education.  Phyllis taught at various schools in the area, which included Owensville Junior High, Cuba High School and later substituted and was a teacher’s aide at Sullivan High School. The last several years she was a librarian at the Sullivan Public Library. On August 8, 1970 she was united in marriage to Michael Young at Sullivan, Missouri. Phyllis enjoyed gardening flowers as well as cooking. She was an avid reader and loved animals-especially cats.  She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sullivan and served in the Saint Louis Temple for 11 years. She is survived by her husband, Michael of the family home; two sons, Jeffery Young and wife Jennifer of Sullivan, Missouri and Scott Young and wife Kari of Morgantown, West Virginia; Bonnie Dean, whom she loved as her daughter; 10 grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan and on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013 from the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints in Sullivan, Missouri with President Mark Griffith officiating.
