Harold Lee Graddy
Harold Lee Graddy was born Tuesday, November 15, 1926, in Crawford County,
Bourbon, Missouri, a son of the late Rufus Allen Graddy and Ruth Jane
(Pratt) Graddy.
He departed this life Thursday, April 15, 2004, at the Life Care Center,
Waynesville, Missouri, at the age of 77 years and 5 months.
Harold was inducted into the United States Army, May 30, 1945, at
Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He earned the Army Occupation Medal for
service in Germany and France. He was also awarded the World War II
Victory Ribbon and received an Honorable Discharge October 18, 1946. He
later served as a Merchant Marine at Seattle, Washington and was
discharged at San Francisco, California.
On July 19, 1952, at Pocahontas, Arkansas, Harold was united in marriage
to Mildred Martin. They have enjoyed over 51 years together.
In addition to his parents Harold was preceded in death by three brothers,
Benjamin Graddy, William Graddy and wife Pearline and Cecil Graddy; and
two sisters, Evelyn Schmitt and husband Virgil and Betty Mayben; and
brothers-in-law, Allie Hurst, Murrel Phillips, Cebe Martin, Champ Martin,
Nute Martin, Gene Martin, sisters-in-law Beatrice Butts, May Martin,
Stella Dotson and Delight Stringer.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife, Mildred
Graddy of the home in Waynesville, Missouri; their daughter Mary and
husband Edward Black of Richland, Missouri; four grandchildren, Rita and
husband Brian Rucker of St. Peters, Missouri, Angela and husband Steve
Price of Nixa, Missouri, Douglas Black and wife Elizabeth of Waynesville,
Missouri, and David Black of Richland, Missouri; six great grandchildren,
Brandon and Amanda Rucker, Jennifer and Steven Price, Zachary and Alayna
Black.
Also remaining are four brothers, Edward Graddy and wife Kathy, Dean
Graddy and wife Pearl, and Ronald Graddy, all of Bourbon, Missouri, Donald
Graddy and wife Faye of California; four sisters, Dorothy May and husband
Ernest "Bud" Whitaker of Mississippi, Mildred Hurst of Oklahoma, Hilda
(Harold's twin) Phillips of Sullivan, Missouri, Hazel Pennock and husband
Ronald of Illinois; sisters-in-law, Sue Graddy and Fran Graddy, both of
Bourbon, Missouri, Alice Kallmbah and Lillian Barnicle, both of
Steelville, Missouri; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many
friends.
Harold Lee Graddy lay in state 4-8 p.m. with Masonic Services 7 p.m.
conducted by Lebanon Lodge #70 AF & AM, Steelville, Saturday, April 17, 2004
at Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2004, in the Britton
Chapel with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Musical selections were provided
by Rev. and Mrs. Bob Coleman.
Committal prayers and interment were in Schwieder Cemetery, rural
Steelville, Missouri. Full military honors, (firing party, taps, flag
folding and presentation) were provided graveside by the Missouri Military
Funeral Honors Eastern Division.
Serving as pallbearers wee Edward Graddy, Steve Black, Doug Black, Brandon
Rucker, Steven Price and Brian Rucker.
Arrangements were entrusted to Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Wilma M. Ice Trammell Highfill
Wilma M. Ice Trammell Highfill of Cuba, Missouri was born on April 18, 1930
in Montana to the union of Edwin L. Ice and Nina Mae (Hall) Ice and
passed away on April 12, 2004 at the Cuba Manor, Cuba, Missouri at the age
of 73 years, 11 months and 24 days.
In 1982 Wilma was united in marriage to David Highfill in St. Louis.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, one son Larel Trammell and one
granddaughter, Susan R. Harrison.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her devoted
husband David Highfill of the home in Cuba, Missouri; three sons, Edwin
Trammell and wife Mary, Kenny Trammell and wife Dorothy, Melvin Trammell
and wife Carol; three daughters Marsha Harrison and husband John, Marie
Jones and husband Bill, Sissy Jackson and husband Theodore; four
step-sons, David Highfill and wife Margaret, Charles Highfill and wife
Margaret, Bobby and Charles Highfill; two step-daughters, Della Mackland
and husband Tosh and Louise Wilson; one brother Robert Ice; 11
grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Wilma was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother,
sister, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Wilma M. Ice Trammell Highfill was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of
Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 14,
2004 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Mike Schultz officiating. Interment was in the
Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. All arrangements were under the
direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Roy A. Hodges
Roy A. Hodges was born December 6, 1928, in Cuba, Missouri to the union of
Benjamin and Edith (Sego) Hodges and passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004 at
the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 75
years, 4 months and 5 days, following a short illness.
Roy was united in marriage to Belva Jean Coplin in California. Two sons,
Dennis Roy and Gregory Lee and one daughter, Sherry were born to this
union. Belva preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, his two sons, Dennis Roy and
Gregory Lee and two brothers, Ben and Frank Hodges.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his loving
daughter, Sherry Wools and her husband Dennis of Cuba, Missouri and one
sister Juanita Hodges. Also surviving him are his two grandchildren,
Chelsea and Dennis Wools, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services and interment were held on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at
2 p.m. at the Kinder Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri with Jack Shepherd
officiating.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of
Cuba, Missouri.
Wilbert Henry Woodruff
Wilbert Henry Woodruff of Bourbon, Missouri was born on Wednesday,
September 4, 1918 to William B. Woodruff and Josie Mable Bacon in Bourbon,
Missouri. He passed away at Meramec Nursing Center, Sullivan, Missouri on
Saturday, April 10, 2004 at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 6 days.
Wilbert married Alice Ann Kosfeld on August 15, 1940 in Bourbon, Missouri
and to this union two children were born.
After graduating from Cuba High School, Wilbert taught school for seven
years before serving his country honorably in the United States Navy
during World War II. He then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia,
where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in education and later earned
several hours towards his Masters degree.
Wilbert was a public school teacher for 37 years in several Crawford
County Schools before retiring.
He was an active member of the Bourbon Seventh Day Adventist Church where
he served as deacon, sang bass in the choir, and served several years as
church treasurer. His hobbies were gardening, mowing the grass, cutting
wood, feeding the fish, collecting lawn tractors, giving family and
visitors trailer rides around his farm. He was always willing to help
folks and most of all to spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his children Edwin Eugene
Woodruff and Judy Ann Fleenor, brother Donald Woodruff and wife Velma,
half-brothers Teddy Woodruff and wife Marie, Gilbert Woodruff and Emmett
Woodruff, and brother-in-law Howard Fricke.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Alice of the home,
daughter-in-law Joan Woodruff and son-in-law Richard Fleenor of Bourbon,
Missouri. Granddaughter Beth Woodruff of Sullivan, Missouri, sister Thelma
Fricke of Florissant, Missouri.
Brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Milton Kosfeld and wife Chris of
Pennsylvania; Lawrence Kosfeld and wife Jean of Oklahoma and Sylvia
Hartwick and husband Ivan of Bourbon, Missouri, nephews, nieces, cousins
and many friends.
Visitation was Monday, April 12, 2004 from 4-8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Burial was in the Bacon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri with pallbearers Ted
Woodruff, Don Fricke, Chris Fricke, Dennis Hartwick, David Hartwick, and
Leland Kosfeld with honorary pallbearers Carolyn Fricke and J.D. Huitt.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home,
Cuba, Missouri.
William Everett Taber, Sr.
William Everett Taber, Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born on March 5, 1946 to
the union of Everett E. Taber and Loretta Jane (Durbin) Taber and passed
away on April 16, 2004 at his home in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 58
years, 1 month and 11 days.
On may 15, 1971 Everett was united in marriage to Wilma Bobbitt at
Steelville, Missouri. They have enjoyed 32 years of marriage.
On February 27, 1969 he was inducted into the Army of the United States of
America and was honorably discharged on November 4, 1970. He served during
the Vietnam Conflict and received the National Defense Service Medal,
Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Everett was a member of the Cherryville Church of God, Cuba VFW Post No.
7147 and the Cuba American Legion Post.
Everett's favorite past-times were hunting, fishing, and playing country,
blue grass and gospel music.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his devoted wife
Wilma Taber; one son, William "Bill" E. Taber, Jr.; three daughters,
Janice Brummet, Christina Pontious and husband Drew and Cheryl Brown and
husband Christopher; one brother Roger Taber and wife Janet; one sister
Linda Branson and husband Larry; six grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other
relatives and many friends.
Everett was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, good friend to
all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
William Everett Taber, Sr. was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of
Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Monday, April 19, 2004
at 11 a.m. with Rev. Roger Taber and Rev. Randy Ruble officiating.
Pallbearers were Lonnie Chandler, Darrell Branson, Donnie Taber, Neil
Swyers, Drew Pontious and Bill Dotson.
Interment was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. Arrangements were
under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
