Stephen Barber, vicar of Trinity Episcopal Church in St. James, Missouri, was born on June 18, 1952 and passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016. He grew up in St. James, a son of a preacher, Fred Barber, pastor of the St. James Christian Church. Fr. Steve offered a gentle hospitality to all who crossed his path and always had a twinkle in his eye. He was known to begin sermons with a joke or a funny story. His easy manner and kindly personality made him approachable and ever loved. After graduation from John F. Hodge School in 1970, he attended Missouri State University. He met Glenda Keeney when they worked together at Falkenhain Optical. They were married on October 5, 1986 at Trinity Episcopal Church by Reverend Doug McCreight. Steven attended the Episcopal School for Ministry from 2004-2007. Upon completion of the school, the Rt. Rev. George Wayne Smith, Bishop of the Diocese of Missouri, ordained Fr. Steve to the priesthood on July 7, 2007. On July 8 the Bishop named him Vicar of Trinity Episcopal Church in St. James, Missouri. Fr. Steve shepherded a small but devoted congregation. Fr. Steve had a heart for the poor, the down on their luck, and the unchurched. He was deeply concerned about the less fortunate in the community and directly supported many outreach and mission programs. He was active in diocesan leadership, serving on convocation and the Commmission on Ministry. For the past several years Fr. Steve has served as a part time Chaplain at PCRMC in Rolla, Missouri. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Aileen Barber; brother, Freddie Ross Barber; grandson, Zach Alpert; grandparents, Ancil and Ellen Barber and J. Orville and Zaddie Mae Mazel. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Keeney Barber; sons, Sean Barber and wife Tatum, Bob Keeney and wife Lisa and Jim Keeney and wife Amy; daughter, Beth Sparks and husband Jim; brother, Fr. Brad Barber and wife Jody; grandchildren, Kameron Barber, Kyler Barber, Kaylan Barber, Karson Barber, Logan Sparks, Kelsey Sparks, Isaiah Alpert, Aleks Keeney, Nick Keeney, Tyler Keeney and Michael Keeney; great grandchildren, Zachary Alpert and Isaac Keeney; other relatives and friends. Claranne Gargus Bayless Claranne Gargus Bayless of Sullivan, Missouri was born on January 5, 1943 in Highland, Illinois to Clarence Bell Gargus Sr. and Rebecca Ruth Humphrey Gargus and passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the age of 73 years. When Claranne was one year old, her family moved to Stanton, Missouri where her father operated a sawmill. Claranne married Vernon Brown, Sr. on July 3, 1960. This union brought forth two sons, Wayne Brown and Vernon Brown, Jr., and a daughter, Juanita "Angel" Brown. Claranne later married Charles W. Bayless on July 30, 1977. Claranne was blessed with two more sons, Charles Bayless and Thomas Bayless. Claranne lived a family-oriented life. Claranne was artistic, as shown by a few of her paintings that have been displayed. She was inquisitive. She spent countless hours researching the Gargus and Boone family lineage. Claranne compiled a large amount of paperwork concerning her family history, and kept them like a prized possession.Another hobby Claranne enjoyed was collecting family pictures. She had multiple pictures of every family member, many framed and proudly on display in her home. Claranne enjoyed family gatherings. She looked forward to Gargus family reunions, float-trips, barbeques, and any other reason to be together with her loved ones. Claranne preferred country music. Sometimes a song would bring back memories of her younger days and she would start retelling a tale of days long past. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruth Gargus; husband, Charles Bayless; one son, Clyde Wayne Brown; one brother, Charles E. Gargus; brother-in-law, Jerry Jones; sister-in-law, Imelda Gargus; grandson, Brandon White; and niece, Traci Schuler. She was a seamstress for H.D. Lee Company for more than 25 years, where she retired. She married Edgar "Joker" Conaway on December 2, 1950 and to this union three sons were born. She enjoyed crocheting, babysitting, taking care of neighbors in her neighborhood, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Edith Doss; husband, Edgar Conaway; parents-in-law, Charles and Annie Conaway; infant son, David Lynn Conaway; brothers-in-law, Edward Conaway and Carl (Lizzie) Benton; and sisters-in-law, Zelma (Jude) Eickhorst, Velma (Joe) Veach and Carol Doss. Hodges of Sullivan, Missouri was born on June 4, 1948 to Theodore and Esther May (LaChance) Valley in Spring Bluff, Missouri and passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the age of 67 years. After the death of her mother, Nadine was adopted at age seven by the Stotler family who lived in the Bonne Terre, Missouri area. She grew up and attended school there. She was united in marriage to Denny Littrell and a daughter, Tina was born. Denny preceded her in death. Nadine later married George Hodges. Nadine was a caregiver by nature and enjoyed swimming and cooking. She loved all animals, especially her dogs and adored her step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Esther Valley; twin step-sons, Ron and Don Hodges; three brothers; and six sisters. William Martin Marcee William Martin Marcee of Arnold, Missouri was born October 26, 1937 in Cuba, Missouri to Charles Herman and Tilley Marie Hopple Marcee and passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at the age of 78 years. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Louise Bowman on July 18, 1964 in Grubbville, Missouri and to this union four children were born. William had worked as an auto mechanic for Southside Auto Body and Glass. He enjoyed fishing, camping and working on cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Tilley Marcee; three brothers, Bob, Clarence and Charles Marcee; and three sisters, Catherine Chandler, Bonnie Wallace and Stella King. Audrey was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling, reading, shopping, quilting, fishing and being outdoors. She could be found every evening watching Wheel of Fortune. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Rose Floyd; two husbands, Devert H. Melton and John Welch; two brothers, Thomas Floyd, Jr. and Alf Floyd; and two sisters, Kathryn Valenti and Norma Wyllie. Margie LaFawn Margie LaFawn Woodcock of Bourbon, Missouri was born at Bourbon, Missouri on January 26, 1936 to James Raymond and Helen LaFawn (Poole) Hardy and passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 20 days. She had lived the majority of her life in the Bourbon, Missouri area where she was employed in various vocations; first employed as a switchboard operator for the local telephone company, then briefly at the Town Tavern, later at the Mini-Mart in Bourbon, Missouri and finally at Paramount Headwear where she retired after 25 years there as a silk screener. Margie was united in marriage to Anthony Speck from 1954 until their divorce in 1974. On August 4, 1984 she married James Woodcock.Margie loved flower gardening and enjoyed working in her yard. She was also fond of growing vegetables and would always have a thriving garden. Margie spent time crocheting and needle work. She was known as a hard worker and was well respected not only by her family but her friends and co-workers as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Hardy; husband James on November 27, 2009; three brothers; and two sisters. Rosalie accepted the Lord at a young age and attended First Assembly of God Church in Steelville, Missouri. She was a caretaker of family members and anybody that needed help. She was actively involved in her church in many ways including Women's Missions and she was a substitute children's teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Hallie Ransom; daughter, Joyce Worley; sister, Audrey (Harold) Sellers; and brothers, Adrian Ransom, Leto Ransom and Kenneth (Edith) Doss. Wright of Fenton, Missouri, formerly of Cuba and Leasburg, Missouri was born February 7, 1927 at Dukedom, Tennessee to Norman W. and Latty (nee Ross) Wright and passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the age of 89 years. Harmon proudly served in the United States Navy during WW II and the Korean War Conflict. Norman retired in 1992 after many years as a meat cutter. He worked in packing houses at St. Louis, Tennessee and Kentucky. Harmon was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba, Missouri for many years. Harmon enjoyed fishing, bowling and his passion was shooting pool. Harmon always watched the St. Louis Cardinals baseball on TV and always enjoyed the Cardinals versus the Cubs games. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Latty Wright; one son, Harmon "Michael" Wright; step son, John Kimmel; and six siblings.
