Eileen “Meme” Cape
Eileen “Meme” Cape was born Saturday, January 3, 1920 in
Hinch, Liberty Township, Missouri, the daughter of Walter and Jesse
(Harmon) Clonts. She passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the
Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 87.
She was married to Gerald Eldon Cape on May 13, 1936 in
Rolla, Missouri, enjoying 50 years together. In 1948, Jana and Lana
came into their lives and completed their family. Gerald passed away
February 26, 1987.
Eileen was a helpmate to her husband and a homemaker.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Steelville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents;
seven brothers, Buck, Estel, Lester, Glenn, Raymond, Darrell and
Paul Clonts; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Reba Cape, Theresa
and Ed Schwieder, Elaine and Russell Cape, Juanita and Norman Cape
and James Cape.
She is survived by her daughters, Jana Earhart and
husband Darryl and Lana Haffer and husband Jim; four grandchildren,
Tracey Keeven and husband Jeff, Gerald Earhart and wife Crystal,
Ruth Diaz and husband Carlos and Blake Haffer and wife Suzie; eight
great grandchildren, Jessica Keeven, Clayton Earhart, Devin, Alexis,
Tanner, Courtney and Conner Diaz and Bailey Haffer, all of
Steelville, Missouri.
Two brothers, Lindell Clonts and wife Christine of St.
James, Missouri and Emery Clonts and wife Marlene of Steelville,
Missouri; sisters-in-law, Donna Clonts of Ballwin, Missouri, Lillian
Clonts of Phoenix, Arizona, Margaret Cape of Steelville, Missouri;
brother-in-law, Burdett Cape of West Plains, Missouri; nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 28, 2007 in the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with the Revs. Mary Arnold and Matt
Cook officiating. Special music of “When We all get to Heaven” and
“I’ll Fly Away” was played by Jerry Beers.
Serving as casket bearers were Kem Schwieder, Jim Cape,
Harold Cape, Brian Clonts, Denny Clonts and Jerry Cape with
committal prayers and burial in the Hibler Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Esther C. Donal
Esther C. Donal was born Friday, November 13, 1925 in
the Cherry Valley, the daughter of Warfel and Dora (Causey) Halbert.
She passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Missouri Baptist
Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 81.
Esther was united in marriage to Thomas “Tom” Donal on
June 5, 1946 in Potosi, Missouri and to this union four sons were
born.
Esther was an owner of an antique shop and was always
looking for glassware. She was a member of the Davisville American
Legion Women’s Auxiliary and VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She will be
remembered for working bingo at Gibbs Care Center and making lap
blankets for the veteran residents at Gibbs Care Center and anyone
else who needed one.
For many years she was known to put flags on the graves
of our American veterans in many cemeteries. She loved to cook,
quilt, and crochet. She was a rockhound and her knowledge of rocks
was extensive.
She is survived by three sons, Roger Donal and wife
Darlene of Steelville, Missouri, Jerry Donal and wife Carla of
Florissant, Missouri and Bruce Donal and wife Cheryl of Cherryville,
Missouri; six grandchildren, Anita Donal, Clinton Donal and wife
Kristina, Andrew Donal and wife Tina, Juniora Donal, Kenneth Donal
and Douglas Donal; five great grandchildren, Jaden Xander Riley
Donal, Cierra Donal, Zachary William Donal, Cadance Nicole Donal and
Andrew Biondo.
Two brothers, Albert Halbert of Steelville, Missouri and
Gean Halbert of Steelville, Missouri; two sisters, Irene Richards of
Steelville, Missouri and Lois Anderson and husband Jack of Aldrich,
Missouri; nephews; nieces and other family friends.
VFW services were conducted Friday, April 28, 2007 by
the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW. Funeral services were Saturday, April
28, 2007 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Beers
officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace” was sung by
granddaughter, Anita Donal.
Serving as casket bearers were Clinton Donal, Kenneth
Donal, Andy Donal, Douglas Donal, Jeff King and Wilbur King with
committal prayers and burial in the Steelville, Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Freida Fierce
Freida Fierce was born Sunday, October 31, 1948 in
Cherryville, Missouri, the daughter of Emmit and Eva (nee Callahan)
Harris and passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the age of 58
years.
Freida worked in the home health care for Missouri Home
Care. She had a love for butterflies and hummingbirds. She enjoyed
being outdoors especially sitting in the quiet surroundings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son,
Charles Fierce and two brothers, Albert and Dwight Harris.
She is survived by sons, Christopher Fierce and wife
Tracy of Dixon, Missouri Joey Fierce of Cape Girardeau, Missouri;
daughters, Alice Galayda and husband Skip of Steelville, Missouri,
Becky McConnell and husband Jesse of Cuba, Missouri and Carrie Scott
and husband Bert of Cuba, Missouri and Christine Wachter of Cape
Girardeau, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Haffer and
husband Walter of Cuba, Missouri and Lucille Green and husband Glen
of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 24, 2007 in
the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating.
Special music of “Peace like a River” and “Amazing
Grace” were played.
Serving as casket bearers were Skip Galayda, Jesse
McConnell, Bert Scott, Bub Galayda, Glen Green and Walter Haffer
with committal prayers and burial in the Martin Cemetery in
Cherryville, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Dale Wayne Lunsford Jr.
Dale Wayne Lunsford, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri was born on
Saturday, October 21, 1972 in Rolla, Missouri to Dale W. Lunsford,
Sr. and Beverly Plank Lunsford. He passed away on Monday, April 23,
2007 at the age of 34 years, 6 months and 2 days.
Dale worked in construction as a concrete finisher. His
hobbies were hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Aryen
Lunsford; grandfather, Clarence Plank; and uncle, Mike Lunsford.
He is survived his parents of Steelville, Missouri;
children, Shawn Booher of Jackson, Missouri, Nicholas Lunsford of
Steelville, Missouri, Germany Lunsford and Maddox Lunsford, all of
Cuba, Missouri; grandparents, Norman and Sylvia Lunsford of
Steelville, Missouri and Edna Plank and Jim Flock of Sullivan,
Missouri; brother, Bill Lunsford of Steelville, Missouri; cousins
and friends.
Visitation was Wednesday, April 25, 2007 from 6-8 p.m.
at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 11 a.m.
at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers
officiating. Burial at Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri
with pallbearers Joe Turnbough, Jason Turnbough, Michael Davis, Kyle
Davis, Preston Gillam and Michael Lorraine.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
George William Ziebol
George William Ziebol was born Saturday, October 24,
1935 in Glenwood, Illinois, the son of the late George Otto Ziebol
and Lavelette Virginia (Williams) Brandon. He passed away Monday,
April 23, 2007 at the University of Missouri Health Center in
Columbia, Missouri at the age of 71.
George was married to Frances Setzer and to this union
four daughters were born. He later married Joan Howard on December
20, 1993 in Bridgeton, Missouri.
George had worked as a washer and dryer service
technician in laundry sales and service in the St. Louis area. He
had served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, serving overseas in
the Pacific Ana Rittode.
While living in Steelville, George can be remembered as
a caring and giving person. He would do anything for anybody. He
loved to cook and prepare meals for others. He loved to can jelly
and pickles and share them with different ones. Although he wasn’t
physically able to do much, what he could do in the kitchen made up
for it. He loved to ride up and down the street on his scooter with
his puppy dog.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Bosch and
Patsy Blank.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; four daughters,
Kathleen Key and husband James of Harrison, Arkansas, Susan Martin
and husband Ron of Camdenton, Missouri, Cindy Martin and husband
Rick of Steelville, Missouri, Merry Mularchuk and husband Cort of
Jacksonville, North Carolina; one step daughter, Jeana Van Slyke of
O’Fallon, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
Two brothers, Richard Ziebol of California and Johnnie
Ziebol and wife Jena of Libertyville, Texas; two sisters, Bonnie
McDonald and husband Talmadge of St. Ann, Missouri and Jo Ree Keller
of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Jesse Blank.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 6 p.m.
at the Steelville Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jerry Beers and
Rev. Frank Vance officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace” and
“The Old Rugged Cross” were sung by Darla Vance with Jerry Beers
accompanying. Special remembrances were given by his daughter, Cindy
Martin. The song “Go Rest High on a Mountain” was sung by George’s
grandchildren, Anthony and Tenise Martin.
Serving as casket bearers were Joe Martin, Ben Martin,
Anthony Martin, Scott Key, Robert Van Slyke and Brad Brown. Burial
was Friday, April 27, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. in the Jefferson Barracks
National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with Cindy Martin having
closing scriptures and prayer. Military Funeral Honors were given by
American Legion Post 162.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
