Margaret F. Broshous
Margaret F. Broshous of Sullivan, Missouri formerly of Cuba, Missouri was
born Sunday, July 2, 1922 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of John and
Catherine (nee Haase) McQuaide and passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Cuba,
Missouri at the age of 86 years, 10 months and one day.
Margaret was a clerk for Cuba Manufacturing Company before going to work
for Great Plains Gas Company of Cuba, Missouri. She was a member of Holy
Cross Catholic Church. After retiring she enjoyed watching QVC, Home Shopping
Network and the SCI-FI channels along with Judge Judy. In her spare time she
enjoyed a box of Russell Stover, knitting, reading, eating out at the Du Kum
Inn with her family and spending time with her four friends from Sullivan,
Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Karlene and husband Rick Becklenberg of
Belle, Missouri; son, Kevin Broshous of Sullivan, Missouri; one grandson,
Steve and wife Missy Lanham; three great grandchildren, B.J., Carrick and
Keegan; three brothers, John and wife Ruth McQuaide of Chesterfield, Missouri,
James and wife Marge McQuaide of O’Fallon, Missouri and Jerry and wife Betty
McQuaide of Mountain Home, Arkansas; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009 with
Father James Finder as celebrant.

H. Uldene Cassidy
H. Uldene Cassidy of Steelville, Missouri was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri
to Calvin and Phena Elizabeth (Davis) Skaggs and passed away Monday,
April 27, 2009 at the Gibbs Care Center in Steelville, Missouri.
She was married to Leslie Bradley Trask and two children were born. She
later married Glen Charles Cassidy who preceded her in death.
Uldene attended high school at Dillard, Missouri and later went to
Cosmetology School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After being a hair stylist for
several years, she went to work for Pepsi Cola and later retired from there.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen Cassidy; one son,
Leslie Dale Trask; two brothers, James Harold Skaggs and Ezra Everett Skaggs;
one sister, Maxine and husband Woodrow Cassidy and brother-in-law James
Mazzier.
She is survived by her son, Richard “Rick” Trask and wife Marsha of
Cupertino, California, one sister, Leoda Mazzier of Creve Coeur, Missouri;
four grandchildren, two great grandchildren; other friends and relatives.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Britton-Bennett
Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Kevin Farr
officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace” and “Lord, I’m Coming Home”
was played.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Turnbough Cemetery in Davisville,
Missouri.
Casket bearers were Paul Trask, Ed Rutz, Mark Mazzier and David Mazzier.

Opal M. Comfort
Opal M. Comfort, of St. Peters, Missouri, resident of O’Fallon, Missouri,
born in Steelville, Missouri to Philip M. and Millie Adams and passed away
Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the age of 82 years.
Opal was a member of the Dardenne Presbyterian Church, the St. Charles
Presbyterian Church, and the Cuba Presbyterian Church. As a church member,
she was involved with Children’s Choir, teaching Sunday School, active
with Prayer Network, and Presbyterian Women’s Circle.
In earlier years, she was very involved with the Crawford County Extension
Services in Cuba, Missouri. She was a talented seamstress. She was also a
Leader of Lone Star 4-H Club in Crawford County, teaching cooking and
sewing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis L. Comfort; siblings, Neola McKay, Henry Adams and Neleta Maloney.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Ray) Kendrick, Shirley Comfort,
Gale (Ralph) Teasley and Kim (Keith) Busche; grandchildren, Marilee Teasley,
Chris Teasley and James Kendrick; great grandchild, Corey Teasley; siblings,
Pauline Adams, Betty Ferrell, Ava Lee Comfort, Anna Marie (Robert) Horn,
George (Sharon) Adams and Dorothy Weber; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Saturday, May 2, 2009, from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Baue Funeral
and Memorial Center, St. Charles, Missouri.
Funeral Service was at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2009, at the Baue Funeral and
Memorial Center Chapel.
Interment in St. Charles Memorial Gardens.

Elmer V. Edgar
Elmer V. Edgar was born in Crawford County to Pleas and Dora Edgar and
passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009.
Elmer retired from the Ford Motor Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Steven Edgar.
He is survived by wife, Edna D. Edgar; children, Melba Jean (Willard) Miller,
Janice (Ron) Lawson, Judy (Bruce) Tompkins, Michael (Debbie) Edgar; eight
grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; siblings, Beulah Moline, Bonne Lea,
Wanda Freie and the late Cecil, Reubin and Harold Edgar; other relatives
and friends.
Funeral service was Monday, May 4, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Collier’s Funeral
Home, Bridgeton, Missouri.
Interment in the Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Earl Charles Gossett
Earl Charles Gossett of St. James, Missouri was born on December 16, 1922
to Charles F. and Sophia (Ludwig) Gossett in Detroit, Michigan and passed
away on Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Gibbs Care Center in Steelville, Missouri
at the age of 86 years, 4 months, and 15 days of age.
He was united in marriage to May Brown Lang on July 8, 1944 in Dearborn,
Michigan.
Earl served in the US Army in WWII for three years. He was employed by
Sinclair Oil (now BP) for 35 years as a chemical engineer. He had a B.S. in
Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University (Phi Beta Kappa) and
M.B.A. from University of Chicago. He did community service for South
Holland Village Board for 12 years, South Holland Little League Coach for 13
years and Lions International for over 40 years. He was an Elder of the
Presbyterian Church, member of American Legion, ARCO-Illiana Retiree Club as
treasurer for 15 years and Square Dance member in South Holland, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Charles W. Gossett of San Dimas,
California; two daughters, Patricia E. Voss and husband Curt D. of
St. James, Missouri and Barbara J. Gossett of Glen Ridge, New Jersey; three
grandchildren, Melanie Earney and husband Eric; Eric Voss and wife June and
Bryan Reynolds; two great grandchildren, Hailey Earney and Cammie Earney;
one sister, Betty Joelson of Metamora, Michigan; other relatives and friends.
Burial was in the Abraham Lincoln Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in
St. James, Missouri.
L. Konita Lang
L. Konita Lang of Cuba, Missouri was born Monday, January 8, 1912 at Ralls
County, Missouri to the union of Lee Downing Lennox and Nellie Ray
(nee O’Keefe) Lennox and passed away Monday, May 04, 2009 at Rolla, Missouri
at the age of 97 years, 3 months and 27 days.
Konita was united in marriage to Edward A. Lang on June 2, 1940 at Ralls
County, Missouri. They were happily married for 63 years.
She was a fourth grade school teacher at Ritenour School District, St. Louis
County for 32 years before she retired in 1977. She was a member of the
Christian Church of Cuba and the Easter Star Cuba Chapter 398.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth O’Keefe Lennox;
sister, Emma Lou Pridgeon; one nephew, Larry Lennox; other relatives and
friends.
She is survived by her six nieces and nephews; great nieces; great nephews;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 8, 2009 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at
Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2009 with Pastor Woody
Martin officiating. Special music for the service is “In The Garden,”
“The Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace.”
Interment Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

Louis “Bud” O’Leary
Louis “Bud” O’Leary of Cuba, Missouri was born on Thursday, March 11, 1926 in
Pine Lawn, Missouri to Jack W. O’Leary and Mae Frances Rogers O’Leary. He
passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri on Saturday,
May 2, 2009 at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 21 days.
Bud served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp during
WWII. He married Mary Margaret McClarnon on November 26, 1949 in St. Louis,
Missouri and to this union five children were born.
Bud worked and retired from AT&T as a PBX installer. He attended Amazing
Grace Church in Cuba, Missouri and was a member of the Lions Club plus the
Men’s Club of Indian Hills. He was very loyal to anything he agreed to,
definitely a man of his word. His hobby was fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Lou Akley; son,
Dennis O’Leary; son-in-law, Kevin Killeen; brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jewell McClarnon and Marshall (Anne)
McClarnon.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; children, Connie (Ron) Henschen
of New Melle, Missouri, Barbara (Gary) Pate of O’Fallon, Missouri, Sandy
Killeen of Cuba, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Linda O’Leary of Fulton,
Missouri; sisters, Shirley O’Leary and Charlotte (John) Randazzo, all of
St. Charles, Missouri; sister-in-law, Jean (John) Sears of Ballwin,
Missouri; eight grandchildren, Tanis (Marcus) Bast of Cuba, Missouri,
Tara (Scottie) Russell of Foristell, Missouri, Marcus Pate, of O’Fallon,
Missouri, Ryan Ellebracht of Hazelwood, Missouri, Matt and Mandy Killeen
of Cuba, Missouri, Tiffany and Joshua Pate of O’Fallon, Missouri; five
great grandchildren, Kiyah and Neela Bast, Bayley Pate, Kyle Killeen, and
Ayden Lorenz; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 5-9 p.m. and funeral at 11 a.m.
on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with
Rev. Gary Mace officiating.
Burial at Meramec Hills Cemetery.

Elizabeth Jane Stewart Ray
Elizabeth Jane Stewart Ray of Cuba, Missouri was born Monday, July 1, 1907
at Cuba, Missouri to the union of James and Minerva (nee Enloe) Burleson
and passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of
101 years, 9 months and 28 days.
Elizabeth was united in marriage to Horace Stewart April 1927 and to this
union six children were born.
Elizabeth was united in marriage to Herman Ray in September of 1975.
Elizabeth spent her life taking care of her family. She was a life time
member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri. She had a great sense
of humor, excellent storyteller, fabulous cook “especially blackberry
cobbler,” great seamstress and in her later years she enjoyed traveling
across the United States and even to some European countries.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two sons, William and
Chuck Stewart; one son-in-law, Bill Albrecht; three sisters, Mary Lou and
husband John Miller, Lula Martha and husband Claude Stevens and Dolly Ellen
and husband James Delashmett; three brothers, John Dewey and wife Marie
Burleson, James Alva and wife Bonnie Burleson and Claude W. “Ted” and wife
Cleta Burleson; other relatives and friends.
She is survived by sons, Robert “Bob” and wife Joyce Stewart and Cliff and
wife Jodi Stewart of Cuba, Missouri; daughters, June Albrecht of Cuba,
Missouri and Nancy and husband Don Fisher of Fort Mauve, Arizona;
daughters-in-law, Marilyn Stewart of Cuba, Missouri and Lou Stewart of
Waynesville, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one
great great grandchild; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009 with Pastor Bob
Knight officiating. Interment at Hodge-Enloe Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

A. Duane Rogers
A. Duane Rogers of Rolla, Missouri, was born April 1, 1938, in Welch,
Oklahoma, to George Robert and Beulah (Lawson) Rogers and passed away
Monday, April 27, 2009, at the age of 71.
Duane graduated from Welch High School; he went on to attend Northeastern
Oklahoma A&M and Oklahoma State University. He received his Master’s
Degree in Education from Central Missouri State University in
Warrensburg.
He came to Missouri in the fall of 1960, serving as a teacher and later
principal at Lincoln, Missouri.
Duane was united in marriage to Mary Francis Althoff on May 31, 1964, and
to this union three children were born.
In 1967 he joined the Missouri Department of Education in Jefferson City,
Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his father and brothers John and Eugene.
He is survived by his wife of the home; mother, Beulah Rogers of Welch,
Oklahoma; children, Maretta Diestelkamp and husband Bob, of St. James,
Missouri, Dana Wootten, of Bowling Green, Missouri, John Rogers and wife Nya,
of Rolla, Missouri; grandchildren, Rene and Amie Diestelkamp, Lynnea and
Alison Wootten, and Madison and JT Rogers; sister, Helen Hadley and husband
Harold, of Springfield, Missouri; brother, Gary Rogers and wife Rebecca, of
Knoxville, Tennessee; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, in the Rolla Chapel
of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor David Neiss officiating.
Interment in the Rolla City Cemetery.

Irene Roster
Irene Roster of St. James, Missouri, was born August 6, 1904 in St. James
to John and Louise (Wycoff) Snelson and passed away April 23, 2009 at the
Golden Living Center at the age of 104 years, 8 months and 17 days.
Irene was united in marriage to Henry Roster and to this union six children
were born. Henry passed away in 1974.
Irene was a member of the First Baptist Church in St. James, Missouri, for
many years. She loved gardening, crocheting and spending time with her
children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Raymond Roster;
stepson Randolph Roster; other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her children, Ralph Roster, of St. James, Missouri, Clara
Venable and husband Leland, of Cahokia, Illinois, Betty Brandt and husband
Victor, of St. Clair, Missouri, Harriet Sedlocek, of Dexter, Missouri and
Harold Roster, of Eldon, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; several great
grandchildren and great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2009.
Funeral service was Monday, April 27, 2009 in the St. James Chapel of the
James & Gahr Mortuary with Reverend Jerry Baumann officiating. Interment in
the St. James Cemetery, St. James, Missouri.

Brian Eric Sample
Brian Eric Sample, 33, of Rosebud, Missouri was born in Sullivan on
January 21, 1976, the son of Leon and Lynda (Bowman) Sample and passed
away Friday, May 1, 2009 at his residence at the age of 33 years.
On June 7, 2008 at St. James UCC in Charlotte he was united in marriage to
Heather Lansford.
He was a member of St. James UCC, Owensville Threshers Association,
Gasconade County Fair Tractor Pull Committee and the Operators Local #148.
He is survived by his wife, Heather Sample of Rosebud, Missouri; daughter
Lillian; two stepsons, Blake and Brett Scheel; parents, Leon and Lynda Sample
of Rosebud, Missouri; parents-in-law, Stephen and Patricia Thompson of
Owensville, Missouri and Edwin and Cindy Lansford of Warrenton, Missouri;
grandparents-in-law, Joe and Kathy Haberstroh of Gerald, Harvey and Elaine
Lalk of Sun City West, Arizona, Jerry and Linda Thompson of Owensville,
Missouri, Jean Finley of Rosebud, Missouri and Larry and Avery Berger of
Lafayette, Louisana; three brothers, David Parker and wife Paula of Granite
City, Illinois, Dale Parker and special friend Kim of Granite City, Illinois

Ruby Lee Williams
Ruby Lee Williams of Steelville, Missouri formerly of Leasburg, Missouri
was born Wednesday, October 14, 1914 at Crawford County, Missouri to the
union of Giles and Edith (nee Clonts) Williams and passed away Monday,
May 4, 2009 at Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri at the age of
94 years, 6 months and 21 days.
Ruby was united in marriage to Cleveland Williams at St. Louis, Missouri
in 1946. She worked at the Small Arms Plant in St. Louis during the war.
She worked at a manufacturing company in St. Louis for many years after
the war making fans and refrigerators. She enjoyed mowing grass, working
in her yard, ballroom dancing, fine dining and traveling. After retiring,
Ruby moved from St. Louis to Leasburg to be with her sister Edna. She
attended the First Southern Baptist Church of Leasburg.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Ward and
Edwin Williams; three sisters, Edna Walker, Velma Knight and Alice Jones;
other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ruby Williams of Steelville,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, May 6, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at
the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 with Pastor Terry
King officiating. Special music for the service is “Amazing Grace” and
“Oh Danny Boy.”
Interment in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.
