MO Local Obituaries for the Week of May 9, 2018 Andrew Thomas Boyer Sr. Andrew Thomas Boyer Sr. was born on September 22, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the age of 70 years. He spent most of his life residing in Potosi and Sullivan, Missouri. He was a longtime member of the Pea Ridge Pentecostal Church in Sullivan, Missouri. Andrew was a passionate man who enjoyed serving his country in Vietnam as Lt. in the Army and was proud of his Purple Heart. After returning home from the war, he spent most of his career as an over the road truck driver and as a miner at Pea Ridge Iron Ore Mines. In 2001 he retired from Pea Ridge after 22 years of service. In his spare time, Andrew enjoyed working with his hands as an outstanding mechanic. He loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing, driving down old country roads in his truck, listening to music, reading his Bible and family vacations. His favorite vacationing spot was in Dauphin Island, where he could sit on the beach and watch the sunset over the ocean. He also enjoyed sitting on a porch swing with a cup of coffee in his hand. He enjoyed cleaning his guns and sharing hunting and war stories with his family. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Boyer; mother, Eula (Miller) Boyer; father, Leo Boyer Sr.; three sisters, Elenora Britton and husband Lennard, Mabel Norwood and husband Virgil and Ruth Barrett; and one brother, Lester Boyer and wife Donna. (Tognoni) Brinker of St. James, Missouri was born on October 10, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Edward and Catherine (Corea) Tognoni and passed away on April 25, 2018 at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 15 days. She married Jerome Brinker on April 11, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri. Norene and Jerome's most important responsibility was accomplished in introducing all their children to Jesus Christ. She was a great conversationalist, an intent listener, had a wonderful sense of humor, always made you feel like you were the most important person when you were talking with her. As her husband worked up to three jobs at one time to support the family, Norene stayed home to raise the children and make the house a home. She sewed, bowled, camped and floated the Current River in her younger years. She enjoyed her ipad that was gifted to her by her children at her 80th birthday, where she spent many hours playing Words With Friends and gazed upon all her grandchildren and great- grandchildren through Facebook. Crossword puzzles were a part of her morning coffee routine. Nadine Gregory Nadine Gregory of Cuba, Missouri was born on Monday, March 14, 1938 in Cherryville, Missouri to Pearl Otto and Martha Hannah (Hopwood) Collins and passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the age of 80 years. Nadine married Fred A. Gregory and they spent 57 years together. Nadine worked for several years as a waitress at the Dutch Barn Restaurant and later as a cook at the Cuba Senior Center. She was a longtime devout member of Delhi Baptist Church and she taught Sunday school for many years. Nadine served on the Delhi Cemetery board, was a member of the Three Mile Extension Club and she was always active at the Cuba Senior Center. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, embroidery, antiquing and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl Otto and Martha Hannah Collins; husband, Fred Gregory; 10 brothers and sisters, Osco, Audine, Lynton, Howard, Hadley, Maxine, Larene, Rose Marie, Richard and Nancy Darlene; and one great-grandson, Davin Brown. Tonya loved helping people. She was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death was her grandfather, Wesley Harris. Speed Thomas Hill Speed Thomas Hill of St. Clair, Missouri was born in Williamsburg, Kentucky on May 2, 1942 to Henry Burton and Mary Ellen Hill (nee Hamblin) and passed away on April 26, 2018 at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 24 days. On November 26, 1965 he married Geneva Stevens. Speed was a Christian and member of Living Word Church in Leasburg, Missouri. During his working career he was employed by Daimler Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, Missouri, as an inspector and retired after 30 years of service. He was also a retiree and member of the United Auto Workers Local 110 of St. Louis, Missouri. During his younger years, Speed was an active member and past president of the St. Clair Baseball Association. He also enjoyed going fishing with the family, watching sports on television and sitting on his front porch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Hill; brothers, Edmond, Randall, Armus and Donald Hill; and two sisters, Norma Powers and Arlene Hill. "Joe" Janes Jr. Ret. Sgt. Joseph S. "Joe" Janes Jr. of Cuba, Missouri was born June 27, 1962 at St. Louis, Missouri to Joseph S. Sr. and Etta (nee Sanders) Janes and passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the age of 55 years. At the young age of 17 Joe joined the United States Army and at the age of 45 Joe reenlisted in the United States Army. He retired as a Sargent on February 24, 2012. While serving in the Army Joe earned the Iraq Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (awarded twice), Army Good Conduct Medal (awarded three times), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon awarded twice) and the Marksmanship Ribbon. Joe served in Germany and Iraq during his service career. He attended Combat Life Savers Course, one week, 2009, Motor Transport Operator Course, eight weeks, 2008. Joe was 45 years old when he served in Iraq. After retiring Joe enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph S. Kearbey Jackie O. Kearbey Sr. of St. James, Missouri, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, was born on January 14, 1937 in rural Butler County, Missouri to Braidy Champ and Cassie Lee (Bailey) Kearbey and passed away on May 1, 2018 at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 22 days. Jack had been a resident of the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri for over 14 years. Jack married Sarah Olivia Mostellar on July 12, 1959 in Midway, Alabama. Jack was a long time member of the Bethel Chapel located in Butler County, Missouri. A member of the Poplar Bluff Chapter #344 of the Order of the Eastern Star, where he served in many positions. He was also a 50 plus member of the Masons. Jack joined the United States Air Force in 1959 and spend the next 20 years serving his country, returning to the family farm after he retired. Jack worked for a number of years at LeGrand's feed and Fertilizer in Poplar Bluff, he really enjoyed working with the farmers. At the veterans home he always had candy and bubble gum that he gave out when people came to help him or to just visit him. Carolyn was united in marriage to Charles Wells on Friday, November 25, 1983 in Steelville, Missouri. Carolyn worked as a Real Estate Appraiser for Missouri Property Appraisals in Cuba, Missouri. She enjoyed being outside taking care of her flowers and the birds. Carolyn spent many days at the river and lake. She loved cooking, grilling, driving fast and riding roller coasters. She had the knack of finding beautiful antiques. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Leila P. "Lee" Vandervoort; one daughter, Candace White; and one sister-in-law, Louise Crider.
