MO Local Obituaries for the Week of May 14, 2008 Mildred Hazel Booker Mildred Hazel Booker of Steelville, Missouri was born on August 6, 1915 in Steelville to Roy and Lydia Grace (Brown) Coleman. She passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 92 years. On April 10, 1938, she was united in marriage to Hubert W. Booker who preceded her in death on January 7, 1985. Mildred was well known for her quilting, canning and making of peanut brittle. She loved sharing her talents with her dear friends and community. She enjoyed reading when her health permitted and walking. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Steelville, Missouiri for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Roy Booker; two brothers, Glen Coleman and Kenneth Coleman and two sisters, Ruth Killebrew and Mabel McCarthy. She is survived by one daughter, Marsha McSpadden and husband Larry of Florissant, Missouri; one brother, Haskell Coleman and wife Leatha of Windsor, Colorado; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Britton- Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of “One Day At A Time” and “What A Day That Will Be” was sung and played by Rev. Jerry Beers. Casketbearers were James Dulaney, John McCarthy, Jason McCarthy, Shane Bowman, Ike Lovan and Kent Howald. Committal prayer and burial were in the Steelville Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri. Diane Marie Harting Diane Marie Harting of Bourbon, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 5, 1955 to Irvin Harting and Frances M. Damrell Harting. She passed away May 1, 2008 at the age of 52 years. Diane had worked previously as a nursing assistant in area nursing homes. She is survived by her brother, David Harting of Chesterfield, Missouri. A memorial service is Thursday, May 15, 2008 in St. Louis, Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Miles Muir Hodges Major Miles Muir Hodges, U. S. Marine Corps (Retired) fought a valiant battle against lung cancer from September 21, 2007 to January 21, 2008 when he passed away. He was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on October 25, 1939, the son of Thelma Elizabeth Muir and Miles Sommers Procter. Miles Hodges lived in Cuba, Missouri with his mother and stepfather, Bennie Lee Hodges. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps on active duty from 1960 until his retirement in 1980. A true patriot, he served his country in peacetime and war in Viet Nam from 1968 to 1969 as a helicopter pilot and was a civilian with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1980 until his untimely death. He is survived by his wife Grace of 35 years; children, Jennifer and Andrew; sister, Nancy Hodges Haynes; nephew and niece, Johnny and Leah Haynes, and aunt, Ethel Jean Muir Kellahan. A memorial mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cuba, Missouri at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 16 2008. Interment at Kinder Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. with full military honors. Gladine G. Neuman Gladine G. Neuman of Sullvian, Missouri was born June 24, 1935 at Viburnum, Missouri to Corby and Dora (Medley) Midyett. She passed away at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri on Tuesday, May 7, 2008 at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 12 days. At an early age, Gladine moved to Steelville, Missouri and later lived in various places, mostly in the Sullivan and Bourbon areas. She was a believer in the Christian faith and always thought of others before herself. She loved flowers and rock collecting. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Neuman; son, Terry D. West; daughter, Carol McMillian; brother, Lloyd Midyett; step son, Steve Neuman and step daughter, Sharon Neuman. She is survived by two sons, Ronald Brake and wife Elsie of Bourbon, Missouri and Jim Isgriggs and wife Annette of Sullivan, Missouri; seven step children, Pam Burgess and husband Jody, Karen Neuman, Beverly Noblin, Pat Neuman and wife Kathy, Mike Neuman and wife Susan, Alex Neuman and wife Karen, Rod Neuman and wife Jeannie; one brothers, Cecil Midyett of Steelville, Missouri; three sisters, Rosie Bailey of Steelville, Missouri, Velma Bailey and husband Joe of Rolla, Missouri and Tessie Head and husband Gus of Steelville, Missouri; four grand- children, Jamie and Matthew Isgriggs, R.J. and Sabrina Brake; 11 step grand- children; an additional daughter-in-law, Connie Midyett of Steelville, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor G. Scott Perry officiating. Interment was in the Harrison-Pillman Cemetery, Jerome, Missouri. Robert Glen Weber Robert Glen Weber of Steelville, Missouri was born Tuesday, April 1, 1924 to Thomas Calvin Weber and Elsie Louise Zolder Weber. He passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 7 days. Robert served in the United States Army from January 14, 1946 until April 26, 1947, earning the rank of Cpl. He was stationed stateside in Washington and New Mexico as a medic. He was a life long resident of Crawford County living on the family farm except for the time he served his country. His farming operation included raising crops, cattle, hogs, chickens and horses. He grew, picked and sold blackberries and turnips. He loved to coon hunt and was very proud of his coon hounds. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred (Janet) Weber and Ralph Weber; two sisters, Violet (Virgil) Zinzer, Lottie (Jessie) Gregory and nephew, Bobby Reeves. He is survived by his sister, Ella Mary (Bill) Midyett of Steelville, Missouri; nephews, John (Ivy) Reeves of Steelville, Missouri, Wayne (Jessie) Gregory of Springfield, Missouri, Tom (Audrey) Gregory of Lebanon, Missouri, Latham (Barbara) Gregory of Cherryville, Missouri, Paul (Gail) Gregory of Ozark, Missouri, Ralph Weber of Texas; nieces, Alice (Rob) Morton of Stratford, Missouri, Judy (George) Nolan and Lois (David) Nelson, all of Indiana, Donna Brewington of O’Fallon, Missouri and Susan (David) Hawryszko of Hillsboro, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation was Friday, May 9, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral service was Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with burial at the Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.
