MO Local Obituaries for the Week of May 15, 2019 Karon "Sissy" Dixon Karon "Sissy" Dixon of St. James, Missouri was born in Salem, Missouri on March 10, 1953 to Lawrence and Ruby (Camden) King and passed way on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the age of 66 years and 21 days. She married Kenneth Dixon on March 28, 1975. Sissy spent her entire career in the education field. She was a well liked and respected teacher in St. James, Missouri for many years. She also worked at the library and Boys and Girls Town. Sissy was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, she dedicated two rooms of their home to St. Louis Cardinal memorabilia. Outdoors was another place to find Sissy. In her younger years she loved floating the Current River. The family would load up and go floating every weekend, in later years she wouldn't get in a boat. Sissy raised goats, and loved her dogs. She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of St. James, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Ruby King; brother, Aaron King; and sister, Mary Ball. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth Dixon of the home; daughter, Staci Wilson and husband Bryan of Jerome, Missouri; granddaughter, Taylir Wilson of Jerome, Missouri; great granddaughter, Emmi Heyer; brother-in-law, Pete Dixon of Eminence, Missouri; sister-in-law, Pat Barton of Rolla, Missouri; special niece, Cassey and husband Brad of Salem, Missouri; great niece, Azalea; other relatives and friends. David Lee Ferguson David Lee Ferguson of Rolla, Missouri was born on November 17, 1952 in Savannah, Georgia to James and Bonnie Boone Ferguson and passed away on May 9, 2019 at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 22 days. He married Burness Jean Holzbacher on September 7, 1974 in Linda, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bonnie Ferguson; and brothers, Dwight, Wayne and Tony. Opal Mae Hart Opal Mae Hart of Vichy, Missouri was born on July 18, 1925 in Vichy, Missouri to Oscar and Rosa (Weaver) Honey and passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the age of 93 years. She Richard Hart in the spring of 1942. They celebrated 63 years at the time of Richard's passing in 2005. Opal was a longtime member of the Vichy Community Church and enjoyed attending regularly until her health no longer permitted. She enjoyed being outdoors sitting on her porch swing, watching the flowers that she had so carefully planted, grow and bloom each year. She also really loved planning her garden each spring. She would plan the garden so that she could can and freeze the fruits of her labor, so that they could be enjoyed by family and friends all year long. She made jams and jellies and cooked up big meals for all the holidays and Sunday suppers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Rosa Honey; her husband Richard; sons, David and Kenneth Hart; and her 11 siblings. Billy attended Steelville Schools. He worked at Huzzah Valley for many years and also at Missey Sawmill. Billy loved the outdoors and enjoyed going hunting and fishing. He retired as a laborer of the Union in 1997. He loved working with concrete and was very talented In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Clayton grew up in St. Charles, Missouri and moved to Steelville around eighth grade where he attended Steelville Schools and graduated with the class of 1969. He married Mary Brown. He worked at Brown Shoe for many years and after their closing, he went to Ozark Mountain Technologies where he later retired. Clayton was an avid hunter. He was a lover of anything outdoors, especially going to the river, boating, fishing and camping. Music was a big part of his life, he played the guitar and enjoyed singing. He was a Cardinals baseball fan. Clayton was a grill master, he was famous for his pork steaks and he loved having family and friends together for cookouts and fries. He enjoyed to travel with his daughters and hanging with his friends at "the shop." He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" Clayton Sr. and Frances May Taff; sisters, Amanda Quinton and Annette Taff; and special friend, Rosie Atchison. Loetta Faye Thurman Loetta Faye Thurman of Cuba, Missouri was born on January 27, 1938 to William and Venetta Hoch in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the age of 81 years. She grew up and attended school in St. Louis, Missouri. She married Dan Thurman in 1953. Dan and Loetta raised their family in the Ferguson, Missouri area where Loetta was employed by Mallin Ckrodt Chemical Co. for many years. After retirement they moved to their country place in Cuba, Missouri. Loetta enjoyed working on their property, raking and burning leaves, gardening and working around the house. She also enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Thurman Sr.; two children, Danna Nelson and Donald Thurman; and her parents, William and Vanetta Hoch. She is survived by two children, Dianna Thurman of Davisville, Missouri and Dan Thurman Jr. and Kellie Hodges of Cuba, Missouri; five grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Stacy, Jason and Jennifer; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Wes Hoch, other relatives and friends. Wiemann of St. James, Missouri was born to Robert E. and Portia R. Buck on September 9, 1941 and passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the age of 77 years. She married John H. Wiemann in St. Louis, Missouri on January 28, 1961. Together, they founded Scattered Oaks Residential Care facility for the developmentally disabled. For a decade, Susan ran the domestic side of the business, personally caring for her own family of five children, plus 22 residents. Health issues and a thriving business meant Susan could focus more on her family and friends. Her inner and outer beauty, grace and kindness drew people to her. She knew no strangers. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John; five children, Laura (Keith) Sanders, Virginia (John K.) Steiger, Stephanie (Bill) Reynolds, John D. (Yvette) Wiemann and Ellen Wiemann; eight grandchildren, Amy Wren, Derek Sanders, Colin Steiger, Allie Steiger, Cassidy and Elyssa Reynolds, Blake and Clayton Wiemann; four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
