Rufus Kenneth Beezley
Rufus Kenneth Beezley of Bridgeton, Missouri was born October 18, 1934
in Wesco, Missouri, the only child of George Fairfax Beezley
and Pauline (Vaughn) Beezley, and passed away April 17, 2007, at the
age of 72 years.Rufus's mother passed away when he was approximately
three weeks old. He was raised by his grandmother Mary Jane Beezley
Sanders and step grandfather Napoleon "Bony" Sanders. After Bony's
death Rufus and his grandmother continued to live in Wesco,
Missouri. He graduated from Steelville High School in the class of
1953.
He served in the US Army from May 1957 to May 1959. His basic
training was at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and Ft. Riley, Kansas.
The remainder of his two years was spent in Germany.
On October 23, 1959 he married Margaret Payne of Steelville,
Missouri. To this union two children were born.
He was a member of the Teamster Union Local 600, having spent 17
years with Gordon Transports and the last 13 years with Roadway
Transports, prior to his retirement July 1996.
He was a member for several years of the Planning and Zoning Board
of Bridgeton, with the intent of giving back to his community. He
and Margaret have lived in Bridgeton, Missouri for the past 37
years.
Rufus is survived by his wife of Bridgeton, Missouri; son, Scott
(Cindy) of O'Fallon, Missouri; daughter, Kelly (Steve) Henroid of
Ballwin, Missouri; four granddaughters, Madeline and Mallorie
Beezley of O'Fallon, Missouri and Haley and Hanna Henroid of
Ballwin, Missouri.
Step brother, Lavon Scott of Bonne Terre, Missouri; brother-in-law,
Gene Payne and wife Jeanette of Bourbon, Missouri; sisters-in-law,
Donna Cunningham of Springfield, Missouri, Lois Terry of St. Louis,
Missouri and Virginia Payne of Steelville, Missouri; two Beezley
cousins, Tom Beezley of Steelville, Missouri and Martha Watkins of
Rolla, Missouri; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was Thursday, April 19, 2007 from 4-8 p.m. at Collier's
Funeral Home in Bridgeton, Missouri. Funeral service was Friday,
April 20, 2007 at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Randall
Fullerton of the Fee Fee Baptist Church.
Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full
military honors.
Pallbearers were Gene Payne, Buddy Payne, Glen Eaton, Chuck
Blankenship, Jerry Krueger and Jim Rowe. Honorary pallbearers were
Carl Sanders and George Fisher.
Virginia Dorothy Carney
Virginia Dorothy Carney was born Friday, June 20 1919 in St. Louis,
Missouri, the daughter of Randolph Lafayett and Louise (Hoddee)
Frazee and passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007 in her home surrounded
by her family at the age of 87.
Virginia was united in marriage to Russell John Carney on September
21, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union four children were
born.
Virginia had worked as a secretary in civil service for the U.S.
government in St. Louis, Missouri. She had the distinction of having
served as a U.S. Marine from June 1943 to November 1945, being
discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. She was a member of St.
Michael’s Catholic Church in Steelville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by one son, Patrick John Carney; one
daughter, Debbie Sacco; one brother, Warren Frazee; two sisters,
Helen Lane and Genevieve Wright; three brothers-in-law, Bill Conway,
Albert Lane and James Wright.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Kathleen Sweet and
husband Charles of Pevely, Missouri and Christine Carney of
Summerfield, Florida; one sister, Marguerite Conway of Steelville,
Missouri; two grandchildren, Karen Michelle and Rachael Marie Sweet;
brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Flo Carney of St. Louis,
Missouri.
Funeral Mass was conducted Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at St. Michael’s
Catholic Church with Father James Finder officiating. Reading of the
scriptures was by Elaine Edwards and Claudine Becker.
Serving as alter boys were Jake and Joe Howdeshell. Special music of
“On Eagles’ Wings” was sung by Jerry Beers with Delores Bell
accompanying. A prayer service was Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home. Honor Guard was by James Cain of
Steelville American Legion.
Serving as casket bearers were Tom Carney, Michael May, Jack Farmer,
Patrick Smith, Charles Sweet and Connie Smith with committal prayers
and burial in Steelville Cemetery.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett
Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Stacie Lee “Iggie” DeRennaux
Stacie Lee “Iggie” DeRennaux was born Sunday, August 17, 1969 in
Rolla, Missouri, the daughter of John Lee and Barbara (Blackstock)
Stringer and passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on
Tuesday, May 8, 2007.
Stacie was united in marriage to Kevin DeRennaux on August 22, 1987
in Steelville, Missouri.
She had been financial aide director at Metro Business College in
Rolla, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Tylor; one daughter,
Brenda; her mother, Barbara Stringer; two brothers, Pete Stringer of
Cuba, Missouri and Bob Stringer and wife BJ of Sullivan, Missouri;
one sister, Stephanie Payne of Milton, Florida; father-in-law, John
L. DeRennaux of Rolla, Missouri; two sisters-in-laws, Linda Mabe and
husband John of Steelville, Missouri and Sherrie Hanks and husband
Gary of Lohman, Missouri; three brothers-in-laws, Duane DeRennaux
and wife Faith and Darrell DeRennuax, all of Steelville, Missouri,
and Ricky DeRennaux and wife Sherri of Moore, Oklahoma; nieces;
nephews; and other family friends.
Funeral services for Stacie DeRennaux were conducted Friday, May 11,
2007 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with her uncle Bill
Kreamalmeyer officiating. Special music of “To God Be the Glory” and
“Amazing Grace” were played.
Serving as casket bearers were Pete Stringer, Bob Stringer, Marty
McMillen, Mike Mabe, Matt Mabe, Marc Mabe, John Mabe and Gary Hanks
with committal prayers and burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett
Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Gloria Ann Donahoe
Gloria Ann Donahoe was born Tuesday, January 22, 1929 in Detroit,
Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Schlaf) Crider and
passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Phelps County Regional Medical
Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 78.
She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Johnson in June of 1950
and to this union one daughter was born. Gloria married Jack “John”
Donahoe on August 16, 1972.
Upon moving to Steelville, Gloria and Jack bought a house on AA next
to Judy and Louie Dicus and quickly became dear friends. They were
invited to Thanksgiving dinner that you with Bill and Hazel Asher
and all their families and from that time were considered family.
Jack had never liked crowds or being around lots of kids but spent
almost every weekend and some evenings out at the Asher home playing
dominos, cards or just visiting. Gloria right away just fit right in
and even though she only had a few yeas with Jack in Steelville,
there was no place she would rather be than right here with what she
considered her adopted family and many friends she had made in
Steelville.
Gloria had worked several years for the Bridgeton Police Department
before moving to Steelville, Missouri. While here she was part owner
in the Shingle Inn Restaurant and had worked at the Crawford Mirror.
She later worked at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department as a
deputy sheriff and process server. She also volunteered at the
Steelville Chamber of Commerce.
Jack preceded her in death on November 16, 1976.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Michaels of St. James,
Missouri; one granddaughter, Meredith Michaels of Rolla, Missouri;
special friends, Judy and Louis Dicus of Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services for Gloria Donahoe were conducted Thursday, May 10,
2007 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Beers
officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace” was played.
Serving as casket bearers were Louis Dicus, Daniel Dicus, Keith
Sanders, David McClain, Mike Taylor and Tyler Sanders with committal
prayers and burial in the Brush Creek Cemetery in Gray Summit,
Missouri.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett
Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Clinton P. Hewkin
Clinton Preston Hewkin was born Sunday, January 23, 1932 in
Davisville, Missouri, the son of Arthur and Della May (Green) Hewkin
and passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Cuba Manor in Cuba,
Missouri at the age of 75.
He was united in marriage to Ruby Gladine Parrett on July 5, 1952 in
Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and to this union four daughters were born.
Clinton had worked for the St. Louis County Water Company for 35
years, retiring in 1992. He had served in the U.S. Air Force from
1952 to 1956.
He was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Glen and Clarence
Parrett.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; four daughters, Beverly
Hewkin of Union, Missouri, Donna LaBarge and Connie Henson, both of
St. Louis, Missouri and Janet Stringer and husband Pete of Cuba,
Missouri; one brother, David Hewkin and wife Ruth of Davisville,
Missouri; one sister, Doris Morton and husband J.W. of Villa Ridge,
Missouri.
Six grandchildren, Craig Skaggs, Garry Skaggs, Cheryl Perry, Lindsay
Eaton, Justin Eaton and John Stringer; four great grandchildren,
Austin, Mariah, Jordan and Preston; three brothers-in-law, Paul
Parrett and wife Frieda of Florissant, Missouri, Carl Parrett and
wife Katherine of Cherryville, Missouri, and Lonnie Parrett and wife
Cheryl of St. Louis, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Norma Smith and
husband Jim of Salem, Missouri, Florence Parrett of Las Vegas,
Nevada and Lil Parrett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Funeral services for Clinton Hewkin were conducted Saturday, May 12,
2007 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Conaway
officiating. Special music of “Sounds Like Home to Me” and a melody
of songs were sung by Bob and Carol Coleman.
Serving as casket bearers were Jeffery Gibbs, Stephen Marrow, Justin
Eaton, Garry Skaggs, Kevin Hewkin and Mike Conaway with committal
prayers and burial in the Turnbough Cemetery in Davisville,
Missouri. Military honors were provided by the Missouri Honors Team.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett
Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Joan Audrey Mitchell
Joan Audrey Mitchell nee McDonald of Cuba, Missouri was born on
Monday, May 5, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri to Gilbert McDonald and
Edna Burow McDonald. She passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at
Pilkenton Residential Care at the age of 77 years and 1 day.
Joan married Francis “Jim” Mitchell on December 19, 1953 in St.
Louis, Missouri and to this union two sons were born.
She completed her Masters in Education and taught in the St. Louis
Public School District. She also wrote children’s books and edited
textbooks. Some of her hobbies were playing the piano, fishing,
shopping, cooking, gardening, feeding birds, spending time outdoors,
vacationing in Florida and most of all being with her family.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by her children, James Mitchell (Sheryl) of St.
Louis, Missouri and Michael Mitchell (Elaine) of Cuba, Missouri;
five grandchildren; cousins and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, May 10, 2007 from 10 a.m. to noon and
funeral at noon at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Burial at
Hibler Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri with pallbearers James,
Michael, Cole, Jackson and Levi Mitchell and Dwayne Boyer.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri.
James F. Wood
James F. Wood passed away April 15, 2007 at the age of 77 years.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anna Mae, nee Osborn, Wood;
children, Ronald J. Wood, Roger A. Wood and Diane M. (Jim) Missey;
grandchildren, Ryan J. and Tyler C. Missey.
Brother, Robert C.M. (Barbara) Wood; sisters-in-law, Jean (late
William) Wood, Dorothy (late William) Counts, Patricia (late Donald)
Osborn; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held April 21, 2007 at Valhalla Chapel of
Memories, St. Louis, Missouri. Cremation private.
