Elwood W. Niebruegge
Elwood W. Niebruegge was born January 18, 1907 in St. Louis, Mo. to the
family of the late John Von Henry Niebruegge and Feieda Brinkmeyer
Niebruegge, and passed away on May 11, 2000 at the Missouri Veterans Home
in St. James, Mo. at the age of 93 years, and 23 days.
Elwood was united in marriage to Cora Roberson on November 21, 1936 in St.
Louis, Mo. by Rev. C. Oscar Johnson.
He was a member of Third Baptist Church in St. Louis.
Elwood entered military service in September of 1943 and served in the
United States Navy as a Fireman 1st Class. He was honorably discharged on
November 15, 1945.
He was a 60 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers (I.B.E.W.) Local #1. Elwood was a Journeyman Wireman.
After retirement in 1970, they moved from St. Louis to Cuba. In 1986 Cora
passed away.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cora, one brother and one
sister.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are special friend and long-time
caretaker Ruby Pennock, Phelps County Public Administrator Lou McFarland,
and the residents and staff of Missouri's Veteran's Home.
Visitation was from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2000 at
Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, MO.
Funeral services was at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2000 with Rev. Bob
Houchins officiating.
Burial was in the Lake Charles Memorial park in St. Louis, Mo.
All arrangements were under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba,
Mo.
Edith Sue Corzine
Edith Sue Corzine nee Clark was born on August 29, 1905 and departed this
life on April 22, 2000. She was born in the southern Illinois town of
Pickneyville, Illinois. Her parents were William Kenny Alexander Clark and
Eleanor Eliza Clark nee French. She spent her girlhood in Pickneyville
attending school and the Baptist Church. She married Charles William
Corzine on April 18, 1925. They ultimately moved to St. Louis where Mr.
Corzine was employed by Union Electric until the time of his death on
October 31, 1957. Three sons were born to this union: Billie Corzine (wife
Dorothy), Cuba, Mo., Bobbie Corzine (wife Geraldine), Bland, Mo., and
Howard Corzine (wife Delma), Florissant, Mo.
She was the grandmother of nine: Diana Goad (Dwight), San Jose, California,
Karen Leuchtmann (Stephen), Crystal Lake, Illinois, Becky Thompson
(Richard), St. Charles, Mo., Cynthia Corzine, St. Charles, Mo., Robert
Corzine (Robin), St. Clair, Mo., Charles Corzine (Karen), Orange City,
Florida, Kirk Corzine (Susan), Marysville, Ohio, Kim Brunnworth (Steve),
Florissant, Mo., Max Corzine (Shmir), Florissant, Mo.
She was the great-grandmother of fourteen: Dena and Adria Goad, Amy Sexton
and Andrew Leutchmann, Ryan, Billy and Danny Thompson, Jarad Corzine, Jenny
Corzine, Erika Nelson, Abby and Robert Corzine, Krystal Huber and Savana
Heuschober.
She was the sibling of nine children, Gussie, Howard, Bernos, Anna, George,
Lillian, Helen, and Ruth, having gone before her.
Dear sister-in-law of Betty Corzine and Katherine Corzine of St. Louis,
Mo., dear cousin of Virginia Barker of Redmond, Oregon and dear aunt and
great-aunt, dear friend to many.
In the past she had worked as a shoe salesman at the old Stix-Baer-and
Fuller in downtown St. Louis. She lived at the Council House Apartments for
25 years and then moved to the Pilkenton Residential Care Center in Cuba,
Mo. where she received loving care from Larry and Sharon and the staff.
Funeral services were held from the Buchholz Funeral Home, 619 St. Francis,
Florissant, Mo. on April 27, 2000. Interment was at the Memoral Park
Cemetery at Lucas-Hunt and Highway 70 in St. Louis, Mo.
Barbara Jean Hana
Mrs. Barbara Jean Hana, nee Scantlan, of Almagardo, N.M., died Sunday,
April 30, 2000 as the result of a church van-tractor trailer accident on
Jan. 8, 2000 in Tennie, N.M.
She was born to the late George and Nina Scantlan. She grew up in Leasburg
and attended schools in Leasburg and Cuba. She married Harvie Lee Hana on
December 25, 1943.
He survives along with a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Delta of Texas;
two grandchildren, Stephanie and Ryan; five brothers, Clyde and wife, Ellen
of Sullivan, Mo., Walter and wife, Elva of Harrisburg, Ill., Donald and
wife Paulette of Lake City, Fla., George and wife, Betty of Jefferson City,
Mo., Jerry and wife, Sue of Sullivan, Mo., several neices and nephews, two
brothers-in-law and their wifes, plus numerous friends and family members
from this area.
A memorial service was held last Friday in Almagardo, N.M. The body will be
brought to Lick Creek Church Thursday, May 11 for burial at Lick Creek
Cemetery. The service will begin at 3 p.m.
