Traci Lynn Hormberg
Traci Lynn Hormberg of Bourbon, Missouri formerly of Cahokia, Illinois was born
November 12, 1967 to the union of Bobby and Wilma (nee Auer) Parker and passed
away Thursday, May 15, 2008 at her home in Bourbon, Missouri at the age of 40
years, 6 months and 3 days.
Traci worked in the Laundry and Housekeeping Department at Columbia Convalescent
Center in Columbia, Illinois for 10 years. She was a lifetime member of
Crossroads Trinity Church in Millstadt, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her mother; other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her father of Bourbon, Missouri; three daughters, Michelle
Hormberg, Ashley and Amanda Parker, all of Cuba, Missouri; three grandchildren,
Davion and Kaylynn Hormberg and Caleb Parker, all of Cuba, Missouri; one brother,
Bobby Parker, Jr. of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; one sister, Dana Huggins of Bourbon,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 12-2 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home,
Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral was Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home with
Rev. Willis Clark and Rev. Phil White, officiating.
Interment in the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
Frances L. Lawson
Frances L. Lawson of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of the late Ollie and
Anna (Shaffer) Calhoun on June 13, 1917 in Fagus, Missouri and passed away
Thursday, May 15, 2008 in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 90 years, 11 months and
2 days.
Frances was united in marriage to Roy A. Lawson on May 30, 1952 in Pocahontas,
Arkansas. Together they shared 48 years of marriage.
Frances and Roy owned and operated Lawsons Cafe in St. Louis, Missouri for many
years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, canning and raising all kinds
of birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Walter, Rufh
and Roy Calhoun; two sisters, Nellie Holifield and Laura Oakes; two grandsons,
Larry Abnet and Steven E. Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter, Edna L. Johnson of Cuba, Missouri; three grand-
children, Pat Gilbert and her friend John Breslich of Cuba, Missouri, Marva
Simon of Belleville, Illinois and Richard and wife Kathy Johnson of Chicago,
Illinois; six great grandchildren, Anjanette Johnson of Chicago, Illinois,
Tina Lackey of North Carolina, Dustin Abnet of Clinton, Iowa, Matt Zulpo of
St. Louis, Missouri, Shad Breslich of Cuba, Missouri, Steven E. Johnson, Jr.
of Cuba, Missouri; four great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home,
Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral was Monday, May 19, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home with
Lesa M. Mizell, officiating.
Interment in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
George L. Pinnell
George L. Pinnell of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday, October 20, 1914 in
Crawford County, Missouri to the union of Walter and Sarah Elizabeth
(nee Enloe) Pinnell and passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Sunset Health
Care Center, Union, Missouri at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 24 days.
George was united in marriage to Evelyn Mae Branson on June 17, 1939 and to
this union two children were born. Evelyn passed away in September of 1977.
George married Lullia Wanetia (nee Reynolds) on January 31, 1983 and she
passed away in August of 1997.
George worked as a laborer for Robert Boston Construction Company, St. Louis,
Missouri, where he retired in 1976 after 26 years of dedicated service.
After retiring from the union and the city, George got to enjoy hunting,
going to yard sales and searching for arrowheads. During the spring he would
get his two gardens ready. He would grow vegetables and sell them at the
Farmers Market here in Cuba or share them with all of his family, neighbors
and friends.
He was always the life of the party from his younger years of Square Dancing
to going to the Cuba Senior Center and listening to music. But what he
enjoyed and loved most was spending time with this family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Earl, Frank and John
Pinnell; other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his son Bob and wife Crystal Pinnell of Cuba, Missouri;
daughter, Janice and husband Kermit Kitchen of Leasburg, Missouri; four
grandchildren, Heather Pinnell, Jeremy Hundley, Robbie Pinnell and Christopher
Scott; two great grandchildren, Aiden and Garrett; one brother, Jimmy and wife
Barbara Pinnell of St. Ann, Missouri; two sisters, Ida May Licklider and
Gladyne Riddle, both of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral
Home of Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008
at Britton Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Mace officiating. Interment at Meramec
Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
Daniel Amos Sellers
Daniel Amos Sellers of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, December 9, 1988 at
Vienna, Virginia to the union of Ralph B. and Sabra (nee Seneff) Sellers
and passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Heartland Regional Medical Center,
St. Joseph, Missouri at the age of 19 years, 5 months and 1 day.
Daniel was a freshman at Columbia College, Rolla, Missouri were he was taking
Criminal Justice classes. He attended Cuba and Union High Schools, graduating
in May 2007 from Union High School. During the past three years he worked as a
cook for Missouri Hick Barbeque.
Daniel was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and received his Eagle Scout in 2007. During
High School he sang in choir and was part of the theatrical class. In his spare
time he enjoyed reading, playing computer games, playing his guitar and cooking.
He enjoyed camping with his family and the scouts in Colorado, Wyoming, Birds
Nest, Springfield and Yellow Stone National Park. He spent two years being a
scout camp counselor at Camp Lewallen, Silva, Missouri.
He would run from Eagle Wood Park to Cuba on occasions, swam a mile to receive
his Eagle Scout, and he loved Irish music and having a great time with family
and friends.
Daniel gave the greatest gift of all to many people he had never met, he was an
organ donor.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gary Seneff; great grandparents;
other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his parents; of Cuba, Missouri; one brother, Alex Sellers of
Cuba, Missouri; three sisters, Sabra Ellen Sellers of Springfield, Missouri,
Sylvia and Grace Sellers of Cuba, Missouri; girlfriend, Tabitha Axtel; grand-
parents, Ralph S. and Martha Sellers of Cuba, Missouri and Anita and Al Dalton
of Leesburg, Virginia; two uncles, Bill Sellers of Louisville, Kentucky and
Steven and wife Kathy Seneff of Herndon, Virginia; three aunts, Martha Ellen
Sellers of Cuba, Missouri, Tamra and husband Joey Varda of Leesburg, Virginia
and Tonya and husband Sonny Burke of Leesburg, Virginia; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was held Friday, May 16, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home,
Cuba, Missouri. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday,
May 17, 2008 at Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba with Father James Finder
as celebrant. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
Clara Louise Leka Thomas
Clara Louise Leka Thomas of Steelville, Missouri, was born March 26, 1922
to Arthur W. and Fannie Mae Galliger Long in Logan County, Illinois. She
passed away May 12, 2008 at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville, Missouri at the
age of 86 years.
She was united in marriage in 1940 to John H. Leka. In later years, she
married Fred Thomas who preceded her in death on January 14, 1990.
Clara was of the Christian Church faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Vicki
Jo Leka; one son, Robert A. Leka; one son-in-law, Elmer R. Bartolo and one
sister, Vera Lee Anderson.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Bartolo of Springfield, Missouri; four
sons, John W. Leka and wife Shirley and James A. Leka, all of Illiopolis,
Illinois, Charles Edward Leka and wife Barbara of Riverton, Illinois and
Samuel Luke Leka of Springfield, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Leka
of Illinois; 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 14 great great grand-
children, other relatives and friends.
Committal services were held on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 3 p.m. by Rev. William
Shanle at the Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg, Illinois.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home
in Steelville, Missouri.
Clara Mae Wisdom
Clara Mae (McCarter) Wisdom of Steelville, Missouri was born to Roy R. and
Lola Pearl (Warren) McCarter on Saturday, April 2, 1932 in Bunker, Mo and
passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center
in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 76 years.
Clara and her husband of 60 years, Cleatis E. Wisdom, son of Sarge and Pearl
Wisdom, were united in marriage on March 20, 1948.
Clara Wisdom exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman. Her role in life was to take
care of the people she loved. As Cleatis said “there will never be another
like her.”
She enjoyed watching Cleatis bowl, being wherever he was, fishing, quilting,
canning, cooking, but most of all having her children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren around her to love and care for. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church of Steelville. She gave her heart to Christ as a
young woman, then followed Him in believer’s baptism in July 1995, when both
she and Cleatis were baptized.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Larry Eugene Wisdom;
three brothers, Ervin, Edgar, Everett McCarter and wife, Mamie; five brothers-
in-law, John Evans, Lester and Lloyd Wisdom, Dale Callahan and one infant;
four sisters-in-law, Darlene Wisdom, Berthal Wisdom, Carrie Wisdom and Dalena
Wisdom.
She is survived by her husband of the home in Steelville, Missouri; one son,
Denzel R. Wisdom of Steelville, Missouri; two daughters, Donna Missey and
husband Frank of Steelville, Missouri and Sharon Thurman and husband Larry
of Carol Stream, Illinois; 12 grandchildren, Denzel Ray Wisdom, Jr. and wife
Rachel, Justin Wisdom and wife Stephanie, Linda Wisdom, Richard Wisdom,
Michelle Wisdom, Jonathan Wisdom, Michelle Missey, Gina Saunders and husband
Richard, Joy Shoemaker, Frankie Missey and wife Carrie, Matt Thurman and
Heather Carlin and husband Bryan; 13 great grandchildren, Chelsey Wisdom,
Britni Wisdom, Tyler Wisdom, Tristan Gleason, Isaiah Gleason, Brandon Wisdom,
Brianna Wisdom and Kianah Wisdom, Colton Missey, Makylah Shoemaker, Hallie
Boulch, Paige Missey and Payton Missey; one sister, Lucy Evans of Steelville,

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the First
Baptist Church in Steelville, Missouri with Bro. Kevin Farr officiating.
Special music of “Amazing Grace,” “Precious Memories,” “In the Garden” and
“When We All Get To Heaven” were sung by Joyce Vaughn and Barb Chandler with
Wanda Ransom accompanying on piano.
Casketbearers were Denzel Ray Wisdom, Jr., Justin Wisdom, Richard Wisdom,
Bryan Carlin, Matt Thurman and Brandon Wisdom.
Committal prayer was given by Rev. Tom Wisdom. Special music of “I’ll Fly
Away” was sung by all. Burial was in the Crossville Cemetery at Bunker,
Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home
of Steelville, Missouri.
