Al Beauchamp
Al Beauchamp, 76, Centertown, Mo. passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at
Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo.
He was born October 7, 1927 in Roxana, Texas the son of Arthur Preston and
Helen Emma Hoffmann Beauchamp Sr. who preceded him in death. He was
married December 6, 1952 in Brentwood, Mo. to Juanita Vandergriffe who
survives of the home.
He graduated from Dixon High School in 1949. He retired in 1984 as an
inspector for Westinghouse and was a member of Concord Baptist Church in
Jefferson City, Mo.
He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II from 1946-1948 and
obtained the rank of Seaman 2nd Class.
Other survivors include two sons, Loran David Beauchamp, with his wife
Christine, of Eldon, Mo. and John Paul Beauchamp, with his wife Cathy, of
Olean, Mo.; three daughters, Catherine Burks of Holts Summit, Mo., Susan
Marie Demsko, with her husband Gary, of Belleville, Ill. and Carol Jean
Barnes of Springfield, Mo.
Three brothers, Austin Henry Beauchamp and his wife Audrey, of Houston,
Texas, Leo Dean Beauchamp of Scott City, Mo. and Arthur Preston Beauchamp,
Jr. of Bourbon, Mo.; four sisters, Louise Alberta West of Tucson, Arizona,
Lena Helen Crawford of Holts Summit, Mo., Rosemary West and her husband
Loss, of St. Charles, Mo. and Ruby Moore of Martinsburg, Mo.
Eight grandchildren, Jennifer Burks, Mark and Grant Beauchamp, Traci
Barnes, Lauren Demsko, Jessica and Jon Tyler Beauchamp; one great
grandson, Benjamin Robert Thomas and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Preston Beauchamp.
Visitation was on Sunday, May 23, 2004 from 1-3 p.m. at Concord Baptist
Church, Jefferson City, Mo. Funeral services were held at the church on
Sunday, May 23, 2004 at 3 p.m.
Officiating was Rev. Monte Shinkle. Burial was in Centertown Cemetery with
full military honors.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services
in California, Mo.
Warren Alvie Evans
Warren Alvie Evans was born Tuesday, February 1, 1921, at Davisville,
Missouri, son of the late Thomas Clinton Evans and Bertha Jane Evans (Nee
Collier).
He departed this life with his family at his side, Tuesday, May 18, 2004,
at his home in Steelville, Missouri, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and
17 days.
On March 1, 1958, Warren was united in marriage to Leota Hutson in
Steelville, Missouri. Four sons and three daughters were born to this
union. They enjoyed over 46 years together. In addition, Warren had two
sons and a daughter from a previous marriage.
In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by two
grandchildren, Kasey Turner and Dustin Evans; one brother, Lowell Evans
and friend Nellie, four sisters, Ruby Brooks and husband Harry, Gladine
Shucks and husband Jesse, Ruth Nethington and husband Ray, Christine
Brooks and husband Danny; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Georgia
Worley, Juanita Land, and Jerry Hutson.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Leota
Evans of the home, four daughters, Glenda Turner and husband Mike of
Hazelwood, Missouri, Nancy Hall and husband Gene of St. James, Missouri,
Sally Parker and friend Ronnie and Missy Scott , all of Steelville,
Missouri; six sons, Adrian Evans and wife Phyllis of Catawissa, Missouri,
Alvie Evans and friend Renata of Robertsville, Missouri, Dobie Evans of
St. Louis, Missouri, Johnny Evans, J. D. Evans and wife Penny, Charley
Evans, all of Steelville, Missouri; one sister, Lena Pyatt and husband
Eugene of Florissant, Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law,
Luretta and the late Herman C. Bilbrey of Steelville, Missouri, Noble and
Linda Hutson, Jr. and Tad Worley, all of Cherryville, Missouri; 25
grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives and many friends.
Warren Alvie Evans lay in state 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at the
Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Graveside services
were held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2004, with daughter Nancy Hall and
niece Jean Worley closing in prayer.
Interment was in Steelville Cemetery. Honoring their father by serving as
pallbearers were his sons Adrian, Alvie, Johnny, Dobie, J.D., and Charley
Evans.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri.
George R. Johnson
George R. Johnson, 70, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, formerly of Cuba, died
Wednesday, February 25, 2004. He was a retired salesperson for Lenoir
Mirrors in North Carolina, has been president of Willard Mirror Co. in
Fort Smith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of First Presbyterian
Church in Alma.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 28, 2004, at First
Presbyterian Church in Alma with burial at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2004
at Evergreen Cemetery in Paris, Texas under the direction of Edwards
Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.
He is survived by two sons, Brian Johnson of Dublin, California and Barry
Johnson of Arlington, Texas; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Colbert of
Winchester, Virginia; three grandchildren, Ananda Johnson of Dublin,
California, Batya Johnson of Dublin, California; and Allie Johnson of
Arlington, Texas.
Mr. Johnson formerly lived at Par at Four in Cuba and was Elder at
Steelville First Presbyterian Church.
Sylvia Mae Mounce
Sylvia Mae Mounce was born Thursday October 5, 1922, at Casper, Wyoming, a
daughter of the late James Murdock and Francis Murdock (nee Blodgett).
She entered eternal rest Sunday May 16, 2004, at her home near Steelville,
Missouri, at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 11 days.
On September 28, 1938, at Salem, Missouri, Rev. Virgil Parker united
Sylvia in marriage to Dorman Jesse Mounce. Three sons and two daughters
were born to this union. They enjoyed over 45 years together, before his
death, August 26, 1984.
In addition to her parents and Dorman, she was preceded in death by two
brothers, James Murdock and an infant brother.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her children. Bertha Jane
Adams and husband George, Dorman James Mounce and wife Joyce, Thomas
Lester Mounce and wife Marilyn and David Michael Mounce all of Steelville,
Missouri, Debra "Debbie" Diane Whitaker and husband Rick of Salem,
Missouri; one brother, William L. Murdock and wife Ester of San Angelo,
Texas; one sister, Mary Jane Provancha of Crocker, Missouri; 11
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relative and friends.
Sylvia Mae Mounce lay in state 3-8 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2004, at the
Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2004 in the Britton
Chapel with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Musical selections were provided
by Rev. Jerry Beers.
Committal prayers and interment were in Straightway Baptist Church
Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri, Rev. John Limberopoulos and Rev. Jerry
Beers officiating.
Honoring their grandmother as pallbearers were grandsons, Buddy Adams,
Dustin Adams, Ian Bradshaw, Darrell Mounce, Dennis Mounce and Tommy
Mounce.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri.
