Lillian Loretta Avery
Lillian Loretta Avery nee Forrester of Cuba, Missouri
was born on November 9, 1924 at Leadwood, Missouri to the union of
James Napoleon Forrester and Laura Crump Forrester and passed away
suddenly at her home near Cuba, Missouri on May 18, 2005 at the age
of 80 years 6 months and 9 days.
In November of 1949 Lillian was united in marriage to
Perle Avery at Springtown, Missouri. Three sons, Perle Jr., Gene and
Dennis, and five daughters, Kay, Linda, Lila, Claudia and Fern, were
born to this union. Lillian and Perle had been happily married for
55 years.
She was a member of the Cuba VFW Auxiliary.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life
are her loving husband, Perle Avery Sr.; children Kay Andrews and
husband Clete, Linda Collier, Lila Chapman, Perle Avery Jr. and wife
Carol, Gene Avery and wife Linda, Claudia Dildine and husband Mike,
Fern Bryant and husband Jerry and Dennis Avery and wife Kathy.
Seven sisters, Lucille Watson and husband Sam, Ann
Smith, Joyce Cash, Jean Adams, Wilma Forrester, Judy Pierce and
husband Gordon and Jane Sutton and husband Roger; 32 grandchildren;
23 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; nieces;
nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by two brothers William
Forrester and James Forrester and two sisters Helen Short and
Dorothy Martin.
Lillian was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother,
great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt, good
friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Lillian Loretta Avery nee Forrester was in state at the
Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were
held on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. with Gary Mace
officiating. All arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Catherine Barr
Catherine Barr nee Harmon was born on February 5, 1910
to the union of Amos and Esther Harmon. She passed away on April 21,
2005, at the age of 95.
Catherine was united in marriage to Russell Fanger and
Frank Barr, both proceeded her in death.
She retired from Anheuser Busch, and enjoyed crocheting
in her free time. She was a member of both the Tower Grove Baptist
Church and Third Baptist Church, both of St. Louis.
She is survived by her daughters, Doris and husband Tom
Baker, Betty and the late Carl Katunar of St. Louis.
Grandmother of Debbie and husband Rick Giorgis of
California; Dan and wife Barbara Baker, Carla and husband Lary
Pillischafske, Tammy and husband Kenneth Olsen, Tina and husband
Dave Mazurek all of St. Louis.
Great grandmother of Ken and David Giorgis of
California; Jessica and Nicki Baker, Seth and Ethan Pillischafske,
Kenny Olsen, Cassie and Matt. Dear aunt, great aunt and friend.
The funeral was held on Saturday, April 23, 2005 with
interment in the St. Marcus Cemetery of St. Louis, Missouri. All
arrangement were under the direction of the Kutis Funeral Home.
Herman Barr
Herman Barr, 93, of Desloge, Missouri, passed away May 6, 2005 at
Georgia Gardens. He was born January 3, 1912 in Czar, Crawford
County, Missouri.
He was a member of the Desloge United Methodist Church,
honorary lifetime member of the Flat river Rotary Club, also taught
school for eight years before serving in the army during World War
II. He retired in 1972 after 32 years with the Missouri Highway
Patrol.
Preceded in death by parents Russell Sharman Barr and
Mary Ella Morrison; five brothers, Fred, Lawrence, Roy, Edward and
Lynn.
Survived by his wife, Margaret M. Cole Barr; one son,
Ralph Barr and wife Karen of Springfield, Illinois. Grandchildren,
Melanie (Patrick) Sullivan, of Webster Groves, Jill (Jason) Scales
and Susan Barr of Chicago, Illinois. Three great grandchildren,
Payton, Sean and Ryan Sullivan.
Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, May 9 at the Desloge
United Methodist Church, Desloge, Missouri.
Burial was in the Czar Cemetery in Crawford County,
Missouri.
Russell Dwight Eaton
R.D. Eaton, 72, passed away at home in Richardson,
Texas, surrounded by his family on May 12, 2005. He was born in
Steelville, Missouri, April 7, 1933, as the only child of the late
Vernon Dwight and Josephine Wilson Eaton.
Russ was an auditor for Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc.
from the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. side. He retired in 1998
after 39 years employment with them. Russ also served honorably in
the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict era.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, B.J. Eaton;
daughter April Eaton and partner Susan Thomson of California;
daughter Erin Hale and husband William Hale, Jr., of Honduras;
other relatives, friends and neighbors.
Public services will not be held.
Betty Virginia Jackson
Betty Virginia Jackson nee Ballentine of New Haven,
Missouri, formerly of Leasburg, Missouri was born on Monday, July 6,
1925 to Albert W. Ballentine and Helen Rebia Spradley Ballentine.
She passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the age of 79 years,
10 months and 12 days.
Betty married Cecil Jackson, Sr. on August 1, 1948 in
Centerville, Missouri and they later made their home in Leasburg,
Missouri for 37 years. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church
where she was a GA leader and music director. Her hobbies were
crocheting, reading and crafts. Betty has lived with her daughter
Linda for the past nine years where she was active in the New Haven
Community Choir.
She was preceded in death by her father Albert
Ballentine; husband Cecil Jackson, Sr.; brother Albert Ballentine
and wife Betty; sister Barbara Foster; brother-in-law Jesse Jackson,
Sr.; and son-in-law Bro. Jack Simon.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her children
Linda Simon of New Haven, Missouri, Cecil Edward Jackson, Jr. and
wife Kay of Ellisville, Missouri and Barbara Sego of Leasburg,
Missouri; mother Helen Ballentine of New Haven, Missouri; sister
Loretta Kay Wall and husband Butch of Olathe, Kansas; brothers and
sisters-in-law Lawrence Jackson and wife Sarah of St. Ann, Missouri,
Ellen Jackson of Leasburg, Missouri, Don Foster of Salinas,
California and Elen Jackson of Arcadia, Missouri; eight
grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
Visitation was Friday, May 20, 2005 from 5-8 p.m. at
Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21,
2005 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Delmar Hutson
officiating.
Musical selections were "I'll Fly Away" and "What a Day
that Will Be" were sung by Spencer and Paul Hutson. Burial was at
Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri with pallbearers Mark Simon,
Trent Jackson, Zak Sego, Jim Nugent, Jamie Nugent and Jesse Jackson.
All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Glenn M. Shockley
Glenn M. Shockley, 77 of Roswell, Georgia, was a loving husband,
father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Mr. Shockley retired from
Ford Motor Company as District Manager after 30 years. He was a
graduate of Cuba High School in Cuba, Missouri.
He served four years in the U.S. Navy and attended the
University of Missouri. Mr. Shockley is survived by his wife of 54
years, Virginia Shockley, daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Dave
Nagorski, son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Shockley,
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Davis, daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Lipham and son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Shockley, as well as 11 grandchildren.
Brothers, Chester Shockley and Roy Shockley, sister,
Imogene Wynn and brother-in-law, Grant Vonderschmidt as well as
nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11,
2005 in the chapel of Roswell Funeral Home. Dr. Ron Bradley
officiating.
Interment Green Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive
friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2005 at the funeral
home.
