Elliott of Festus, Missouri was born on Sunday, July 5, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri to Jesse R. and Fern G. Hearst Elliott and passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 10 days. John served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Shirley M. Coleman on December 5, 1948 at St. John's Baptist Church, St. Louis, Missouri and to this union four children were born. John worked in residential construction as a concrete finisher before retirement. His hobbies were playing baseball, then later softball on church teams, golfing and riding his Harley. He especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals ball team. John was an optimistic guy and always looked forward to the future. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Fern Elliott; brother, Irl Elliott; infant sister, Josephine Elliott; daughter, Carol Coleman; brothers-in-law, Paul Coleman, Walter Rhodes and Howard Ulrich. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Coleman Elliott of Festus, Missouri; children, John Michael (Sue Ann) Elliott of St. Augustine, Florida, Rebecca Ann Elliott of Pevely, Missouri and Matthew Kevin (Marsha) Elliott of Elsah, Illinois; brother, Jesse (Sandy) Elliott of Brentwood, New Hampshire; sisters, Alice Rhodes of Cape Girardeau and Doris Elliott of Festus, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Delphine Elliott of St. Louis, Missouri and Mildred Ulrich of Ballwin, Missouri; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Memorial service was Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Liberty Methodist Church, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Spencer Hutson officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri with full military honors. Arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri Rose Lee "Mona" Hawkins Rose Lee "Mona" Hawkins of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Fulton, Missouri, was born November 9, 1934 at Clark, Arkansas to William Ernest and Ona Mae (nee Hoskins) Petty and passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the age of 79 years. Mona started working at a very young age. She worked at the Chase Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri as an elevator girl and it was at the Chase that she got to meet Elvis and have her picture taken with him. She then went to work at different factories and ended her career working at the Callaway Nuclear Plant in Fulton, Missouri. After retirement Mona kept busy by cleaning houses. Mona attended church every Saturday and Sunday. It didn't matter which religion she just wanted to go to church. Mona loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time camping and hours fishing. She was always working in her yard and mowed her grass with a push mower. Mona always had dogs or cats and at one time worked for a vet grooming horses. She enjoyed dancing, singing and never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ona Petty; son, Mike Luleff; brother, Bob Petty; three sisters, Mary Lou and husband Ben Copling, Melba Riley and Joy Petty; and brother-in-law, Leroy Copling. She is survived by her two daughters, Debra and Denise; grand- children; great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Copling of Cuba, Missouri; brother, W.E. Petty of St. Louis, Missouri; sister-in-law, Sheila Petty of Selina, Kansas; other relatives and friends. No public services were held at this time. Evadna James Heck Evadna James Heck, know by many as "Liz" was born October 4, 1920, in Vichy, Missouri to Robert Lee and Betty Lennaman James and passed away on May 19, 2014, at the age of 93 years. "She had the constitution of wet leather," a friend once commented, "Tough, but compassionate." Liz loved flowers, music and literature. Her sewing skills influenced many nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Carl Edwin "Cudge" Heck; her parents, Robert ad Betty James; mother-in-law, Mattie Miller Heck; and her daughter-in-law, Paula Marchand Heck; siblings and their spouses, Charles (Wilma) James, Paul (Bernice) James, Joe (Verlee) James, and Margaret (Charles) Elrod; and nephews George James, Carl James and Mitchell James. She is survived by her son, John Heck of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Matt (Leah) Heck and Sarah (Gregg) Snyder, all of Texas; two great grandchildren, Baird and Layton Snyder; other relatives and friends. Ruth Lorraine Olson Ruth Lorraine Olson of St. Clair, Missouri was born in Flat River, Missouri on April 12, 1920 to Carl and Lucille Ruether (nee Yarbrough) and passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 8 days. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Wayne Olson and three sons came to bless this union. Ruth was a Christian and devoted member of Victory Church in St. Clair, Missouri. During her working career she was not only a beautician but also worked as secretary for Olson Pest Control in St. Clair, Missouri, a business owned and managed by her husband. Ruth enjoyed fishing and horseback riding. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed watching the games on television. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lucille Ruether; her husband, Lloyd Olson; and three sons, Jerry Wayne Olson, William Lloyd Olson and Steven Ricky Olson. She is survived by her special friend, "my girl", Barbara de la Torre of Bourbon, Missouri; her good friend, Michelle de la Torre of Sullivan, Missouri; four grandchildren; several great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Sellers of Cuba, Missouri was born February 1, 1933 at Danville, Illinois to Ralph B. and Sylvia (nee Ritter) Sellers and passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at the age of 81 years. Ralph was united in marriage to Martha Winkels on May 3, 1958 at Chokio, Minnesota and to this union three children were born. Ralph received his Bachelors from St. Mary's University in Winona, Minnesota, his Masters from St. Louis University and his PhD from the Catholic University in Washington D.C. Ralph taught English at the high school in Chokio, Minnesota and grade school and high school in St. Charles, Missouri. He then taught English at Strayer University in Washington D.C. and the last 25 years of his career he taught at NVCC (North Virginia Community College). Ralph was a devout Catholic and attended church at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Rosati, Missouri. Ralph enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. He was always up on today's politics. He also enjoyed playing board games and games on the computer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Sylvia Sellers; grandson, Daniel Sellers; brother, Richard Sellers; and sister, Elizabeth Adcock. Stephens of Rolla, Missouri was born in Rolla on May 12, 1934 to Frank Queen and Rhoda Jane (Turner) Queen and passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the age of 80 years. Ronald Max Voight Ronald Max Voight of Rolla, Missouri was born September 23, 1951 in Jefferson City, Missouri to William and Venita (Wood) Voight and passed away on May 18, 2014 in Rolla at the age of 62 years. Ron was united in marriage to Patty (Haven) Voight for 37 years, and to this union they had two sons. He graduated from Rolla High School in 1969. He then attended Lincoln College before joining the Army National Guard. He served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1975. He retired from the St. James Post Office after 26 years as a postal carrier. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan, a long time member of the Rolla Church of Christ and an avid gardener. He used his green thumb to create many gardens, including a beautiful flower garden at the church. He is survived by his wife, Patty Voight of the home; sons, Ronald Max Voight II and wife Jenna of St. James, Missouri and Ryan Voight of Rolla, Missouri; granddaughter, MaKayla Voight of St. James, Missouri; brothers, Bill Voight of Columbia, Missouri and Clifford Voight and wife Becky of Rolla, Missouri; sister, Mary Jane Foster and husband Douglas of Houston, Texas; nephews, Adam Voight of Columbia, Missouri and Brian Foster of Houston, Texas; nieces, Lacey Voight of Kansas City, Missouri and Jayme McBee and husband Harvey of Honolulu, Hawaii.
