MO Local Obituaries for the Week of May 30, 2012 James Joseph “Jim” Daniel James Joseph “Jim” Daniel of Cuba, Missouri was born to John C. and Loretta (Gittemeier) Daniel on August 29, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 84 years. Jim was united in marriage to Ruth L. Quinley on December 31, 1947 in Cuba, Missouri and to this union four children were born. Jim owned and operated Daniel Communications in Cuba for several years. He never really retired continuing to work at Flying A delivering trailers all over the United States, a Courier for Peoples Bank and the Chamber Commerce Visitors Center. He was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and also attended the First Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and honorably served his country in U.S. Navy during WWII. He enjoyed farming, shooting, traveling, St. Louis Cardinals, being a handyman and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Loretta Daniel; one brother, Bob Daniel; one sister, Jackie Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Ruth L. Daniel of Cuba, Missouri; four children, Dave Daniel of Columbus, Ohio, Dale and wife Brenda Daniel Pacific, Missouri, Doug and wife Diane Daniel of St. James, Missouri, Debbie and husband Richard Grotha of St. James, Missouri; five grandchildren, Matt, Chris and Jeremy Daniel, Jennifer Grotha and Heather Nelson; eight great grandchildren, Melissa, Bradley, Emily, Tucker, Hayden, Colton, Logan and Maia; one sister, Lois and husband Henry Stroud of Cuba, Missouri; one brother, Tom Daniel of Florida; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service was held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Knight and Pastor Craig Rippy, officiating. Interment with full military honors followed at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri. Donald E. Garner Donald E. Garner of Sullivan, Missouri was born on April 29, 2012 at St. Louis, Missouri to Loneta (King) and Vernon Lee Garner and passed away at his home on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the age of 60 years and 19 days. He was a life long resident of the Sullivan, Missouri area and was a graduate of the Class of 1970. On May 5, 1973 he was united in marriage to Dianna Hatch at Sullivan and this marriage was blessed by two sons. Donald was an over-the-road truck driver for Siedhoff Trucking until a disability caused his early retirement.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening and the St. Louis Cardinals.  Neil Diamond was his favorite singer and Don would always have his songs playing in the background while gardening or doing odd jobs around the house. Hewas preceded in death by his father, Vernon Garner; two brothers, Jerry Garner, and Teddy Garner; one sister, Laura Sue Garner; his parents-in-law, Everett and Dorothy Hatch; two sisters-in-law, Norma Hatch and Mary Ann Hatch and one brother-in-law, Ray Hatch. Dorothy “Cotton” Lee Davis House Dorothy “Cotton” Lee Davis House was born February 19, 1928 in Flat River, Missouri to Clyde and Emma Lewis Davis and passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Life Care Center of Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 84 years. She and William C. House were married October 3, 1953 in Flat River, Missouri. Dorothy was a Seventh Day Adventist. She loved to cook, sew and quilt. Among her other delights were gardening and canning, but most of all her passion was to be with her family sharing and caring. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Emma Davis; two daughters, Vickie Lee McHenry and Brenda Sue House; brother, Bob Davis and a sister, Norma Jean McClanahan. Everett Calvin Lacy Everett Calvin Lacy of St. James, Missouri, was born August 18, 1971 in Rolla, Missouri to Ernest and Minnie Fanger Lacy and passed away suddenly at his home on May 19, 2012 at the age of 40 years, 9 months and 1 day. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Lacy. Donald “Don” James Oxendine Donald “Don” James Oxendine of Steelville, Missouri was born July 10, 1941 at Keysville, Missouri to James and Lorraine (Stites) Oxendine and passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan at the age of 70 years. On July 29, 1960 in Salem, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Helen Sisco. Don worked as a machinist for many years at Brown Shoe Company. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church and was converted when he was newly married. As a young boy he loved to squirrel hunt and later he would go coon hunting and gigging. In his spare time, he enjoyed making woodcarvings, painting and playing his guitar. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Bobby Joe Irvin; and brothers-in-law Bill Harrison and Daniel Holman. Peanick of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, Missouri, was born on December 13, 1936 in Kirkwood, Missouri to William Davis and Esther M. Krumery Peanick and passed away in Cuba, Missouri on Monday, May 21, 2012 at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 8 days. Gordon served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He was a carpenter by trade building residential homes. His hobbies were fishing, hunting and camping. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Esther Peanick; infant daughter, Lisa Gayle Peanick; son, Brion Peanick; sisters, Ruby (Ralph) Hill and Dorothy Jane Owens; brothers, William Peanick, John (Nellie) Peanick, and Jim Peanick; brother-in-law, Kenny Mertz; twin grandchildren, Isaac and Isaiah Nickles. Charlotte Marie Volkmann Charlotte Marie Volkmann of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the age of 74 years. Charlotte grew up in Overland, Missouri where she attended Home Heights Elementary School in St. John, Missouri and Ritenour High School in St. Ann, Missouri. She graduated from Ritenour in 1956 and entered the labor force soon after. She was a dedicated employee of PACCO Manufacturing in Sullivan, Missouri and Pacer Industries in Washington, Missouri. She spent countless hours tending her yard and nurturing her many flowerbeds.  She also had a passion for traveling around the country and abroad.  She enjoyed visiting Hawaii, and touring the countries of France, Egypt and Israel. She enjoyed experiencing the culture and customs of other people. In later years, Charlotte dedicated her life to caring for others. She provided in-home care to several elderly adults who need basic health care, but also needed the comfort of home. Charlotte enjoyed her time spent with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, C. John and Ruth Volkmann. She is survived by her brother, Mark J. Volkmann and wife Carol of Sullivan, Missouri; four nephews, Matthew and wife Paula of New Franklin, Missouri, Mark Scott and wife Michelle of Bourbon, Missouri, John of Falls City, Oregon, Jason and wife Lisa of Sullivan, Missouri; one niece, Malinda Thompson and husband Joel of Beaufort, Missouri, 11 great nieces and nephews, Derek, Zane, Grace and Morgan Volkmann; Jordan, Lane and Lacie Volkmann; Hailey Volkmann; Ella, Garrett and Meghan Thompson; other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 27, 2012 from the Sullivan Christian Church in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Brady O’Dell officiating. Private family inurnment was in the I.O.O.F.
