MO Local Obituaries for the Week of May 31, 2000 Barbara Ann Helms Barbara Ann Helms, nee Schebaum, was born Saturday, July 21, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late Robert Donald Schebaum and Mary Elizabeth Schebaum (nee Bailey). She entered eternal life Friday, May 19, 2000, at the Barnes-Jewish Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 48 years, 9 months and 28 days. On June 8, 1968, at Elayer Pentecostal Church, Steelville, Missouri, Barbara was united in marriage to Phillip Helms. One son, Rodney and one daughter, Mary, were born to this union. They have enjoyed thirty-one years together. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Noel Glen Conaway and Robert Donald Schebaum, two brothers-in-law Vernon Kallmbah and Delmar Helms. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted husband, Phillip Helms of the home in Steelville, Missouri; one son Rodney Helms and wife Michelle; one daughter Mary Helms; two grand-daughters, Samantha and Jessica Helms all of Steelville, Missouri. One brother, Roman A. Conaway and wife Cheryl of Sullivan, Missouri; four sisters, Flora Kallmbah, Virginia Riley and husband Claude of Cuba, Missouri, Selina Helms and husband Roger of Steelville, Missouri, Edna McBroom and husband Wayne of Texas, step-mother Eva Schebaum of Steelville, Missouri, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harold and Linda Helms also of Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2000, in the Britton Chapel, Steelville, Missouri with Rev A.F. Roberdes officiating. Musical selections were provided by Karalee Ledbetter. Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. Pallbearers were Daniel Conaway, Terry Conaway, Robert Hockenberry, Franky McBroom, Claude Riley, Jr., and James Schebaum. Robert Lee Kuntz Robert Lee Kuntz was born Wednesday November 30, 1932, at St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Wilburn Kuntz and Della Mae Kuntz (nee Akins). He entered eternal rest Friday, May 19, 2000, at his home in Viburnum, Missouri at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 19 days. On January 30, 1953 at St. Louis, Missouri, Bob was united in marriage to Sarah Turnbough, daughter of the late Edmond and Beulah Turnbough. One son, Robert Lee Kuntz, Jr. and one daughter, Jane, were born to this union. They have enjoyed over forty-seven years together. Bob attended the First Baptist Church of Viburnum. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Salem, and 32 Degree Scotish Rite of Freemasonary of the Valley of St. Louis Orient of Missouri. In addition to his parents, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Kuntz, sister-in-law, Brenda Jackson, brothers-in-law, Glenwood, Elvin and William (Bill) Turnbough. Committal prayers and interment were in Czar Cemetery, Viburnum, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Robert Lee Kuntz, Jr., Devound Abney, Junior Halbert, Jesse Kerby, Joe Kuntz, Steve Kuntz, Darrell LaChance and Gene Mason. Marvin DeWayne Libhart Marvin DeWayne Libhart of Cuba, Mo. was born on July 18, 1914 to the union of Roy Clark Libhart and Elizabeth Libhart nee Essman and passed away on May 24, 2000 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Mo. at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 6 days. On October 10, 1938 Marvin was united in marriage to Kathryn Thurmond. Two sons, Donald M. and James E. and two daughters, Darlene M. and Pamela L. were born to this union. They had been happily married for 61 years. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clark and Ralph Libhart. He was a long time resident of Crawford County and a retired worker in highway construction, and was a foreman. He was also a member and past president of the Crawford County and Cuba School Board. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his devoted wife Kathryn Libhart; two sons Donald Libhart and wife Jane, James Libhart and wife Sandi; two daughters Darlene Hensley and husband Bill and Pamela McCann; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Marvin was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Marvin DeWayne Libhart was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Saturday, May 27, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Jim Lockhart officiating. Curtis Dale Callahan, Jr. Curtis Dale Callahan, Jr. of Cuba, Mo. was born on November 24, 1984 in Sullivan, Mo. to the union of Curtis and LaDonna (Lee) Callahan and passed away on May 23, 2000 at the age of 15 years, 5 months and 29 days. Curtis attended the Cuba Middle School and enjoyed playing football. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his loving parents LaDonna Ray and husband Doug; Curtis Callahan, Sr. and his friend Deborah Jones; brothers Esten and Jessie Callahan and a sister Allee Ray; grandparents Walter and Joyce Lee; great-grandparents, Barbara Huff, Laura Lee and Nellie Brown; step-brothers Danny,, Brad, David and wife Keri Ray, Jonathan Jones; step-sisters Heather Ray, Jennifer Jones and Christopher; special friend Ryan Nowlin; other relatives and many friends. Curtis was a loving son, brother, grandson, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Curtis Dale Callahan, Jr. was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Friday, May 26, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Marvin Callahan officiating. Interment was in the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. Albert B. Johnson Albert B. Johnson of Bourbon, Mo. passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2000 at the age of 86 years. Mr. Johnson was born on May 21, 1914 in Webster Groves, Mo. to the late Lester and Olga Johnson. He was raised in the St. Louis area, where he also lived the majority of his life. On June 25, 1935 he was joined in marriage to Pansy Epple at the St. Louis City Hall, and to this union five children were born. On April 28, 1943 Mr. Johnson enlisted in the United States Navy, and proceeded to honorably serve his country during World War II. He supported his family for a short time as a painter, and then as a plumber. His primary work, however, was done at the Monsanto Chemical Company as a chemical operator. After twenty-five years there, he retired. In August of 1999 Albert and Pansy moved to Bourbon, Mo. Albert enjoyed hunting, bowling, traveling, and held a special love for fishing. He participated in the Lion's Club, served on the Valley Park Library Board, and was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Valley Park, Mo. He was a man who was especially sensitive to the needs of others, and would go to great lengths to spare others from suffering or pain. He is survived by his wife, Pansy Johnson, of Bourbon; two sons, Robert Johnson and wife, Cheryl, of Bourbon and Eric Johnson and wife, Sherry,, of Potosi, Mo.; two daughters, Aline Bell and husband, John, of Salem, Mo. and Patricia Rogers of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Herb Johnson, of St. Ann, Mo.; one sister, Arlene Baker, of Maplewood, Mo.; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ann Geckler. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2000 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan with Reverend Father Theodore Brunnert officiating. Interment was at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens in St. Louis, Mo. If desired, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Mr. Albert Johnson.
