Zelma Rohrer Berry-Hill
Zelma Marie Rohrer was born January 17, 1909 to Jacob and Elizabeth Allsman
Rohrer, at their home outside of Bourbon, Missouri, (the eighth child of 13
children) and passed away May 20, 2010, at the age of 101 years.
She was living in Venice, Florida, at the Heritage Nursing Home.
Zelma graduated from Sullivan High School and had worked at the Bank of
Bourbon while continuing her education, earning credits and teaching in
rural schools. August 4, 1941, she received a Bachelor of Science in
Education degree, from the University of Missouri, in Columbia, Missouri.
Her personality was one that made friends easily. She loved to laugh, sing
and play the old upright piano, in her parents’ home. She said, “mother
would often say, after supper, Zelma, go play the piano, and I’ll wash the
dishes!” Zelma made music fun and enjoyable, for her many nephews and nieces,
as she would sing along with them, their favorite songs.
Zelma had first married Ed Roeder, then during the 1940’s she moved to San
Francisco, California, where she met and married Loran Berry,
February 14, 1948. Loran passed away July 12, 1987. She then moved to
Sarasota, Florida, where she met and married James Hill, and they were
together until his passing.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Rohrer;
four sisters, Florence Isgrigs, Hallie Rohrer, Carrie Rohrer and Lillian
Eikermann; eight brothers, Jason, Daniel, Carrac, Fred, Lawrence, Howard,
Virgil and Quentin Rohrer.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Opal Rohrer of Bourbon, Missouri
and Doris Rohrer of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Interment was in the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri.
Pat Booker
Pat Booker nee McCarthy of Cook Station, Missouri was born in Owensboro,
Kentucky on Thursday, November 25, 1948 to JC McCarthy and Eva Murrell
(Hines) McCarthy and passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the age of 61
years, 6 months and 1 day.
She married Vernon Booker on June 28, 1967 in E. St. Louis, Missouri and to
this union four children were born.
Pat was a licensed beautician and worked for 20 years as a hairstylist for
Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri. She was a member of the Straightway
Baptist Church, Steelville, Missouri and taught the Women’s Sunday School
class. Her hobbies were macramé and ceramics, which she gave away to others.
She sewed her children’s clothing when they were young. She enjoyed
decorating cakes, and making fancy bows for her grandchildren’s presents.
She also, was faithful in attending her children and grandchildren‘s ball-
games.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva; stillborn son, Randy Shane
Booker; sister-in-law, Betty McCarthy; brother, Richard McCarthy and
brother-in-law, Larry Booker.
She is survived by her husband Vernon; children, Mindy Mahurin of Cook
Station, Missouri, Brian (Amy) Booker and Greg (Elizabeth Butts) Booker, all
of Steelville, Missouri; father, JC McCarthy of Steelville, Missouri;
parents-in-law, Fred (Jessie) Booker of Cook Station, Missouri;
sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Doretta (Roy) Soper, David (Chris)
Booker, Brent (Tana) Booker and Ricky (Teresa) Booker, all of Cook Station,
Missouri, Dana (Wayne) Richter of Steelville, Missouri, Donald (RuthAnn)
Booker, Michael (Pat) Booker and Debra (Don) Taylor, all of Salem,
Missouri; brother JC McCarthy, Jr. of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; grandchildren,
Abigail and Sydney Booker, Emily, Amy, Kaitlyn, and Jared Mahurin; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was Friday, May 28, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. and funeral service was
at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri, with Bro. Casey Reed officiating.
Darla Vance sang “What a Day That Will Be” and “Amazing Grace.”
Burial was in the Carr Cemetery, Cook Station, Missouri.
Pallbearers were Donald, Michael, David, Brent, and Ricky Booker and Denver
Mahurin.
Arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Benjamin Franklin Eakins
Benjamin Franklin Eakins was born on January 7, 1934 to Benjamin Franklin
and Almedia (Chambers) Eakins and passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at
the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of
76 years, 4 months and 15 days.
He was a carpenter with many wood trades.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Almedia Eakins; one
daughter, Juanita Page; three sisters, Sarah Sewell, Ruth Joyce and Wanda
Eakins; three brothers, Paul, Erman and Marvin Eakins.
He is survived by a companion of 12 years, Essie Hale; three sons, Gary
Eakins and wife Evelyn of St. Louis, Missouri, Tom Eakins and Eugene Eakins,
both of Farmington, Missouri; two step daughters, Jewell Hibbs of St. Charles,
Missouri and Alberta Claywell and husband Dennis of Portage Des Sioux,
Missouri; brother, Bobby Eakins and wife Ella of St. Louis, Missouri;
sister, Christine Swartz and husband Bill of Carlyle, Illinois; eight
grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Services were conducted on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Jones Funeral Home
Chapel, St. James, Missouri, with Mick Thrasher officiating.
Burial was in the St. James Cemetery in St. James, Missouri.

Missouri.
Eunice M. Emory
Eunice M. Emory formerly of St. James, Missouri was born In St. James,
Missouri on May 5, 1920 to Morris and Ida (Parry) Wycoff and passed away
May 25, 2010 in Jefferson City, Missouri at the age of 90 years.
Eunice was united in marriage to Charles Henry Emory on September 9, 1939,
and to this union a daughter was born.
Eunice was very active in the community and in her church; she was a member
of the First Church of God, the Civic Zion Hill Quilting Club, Women of the
Church of God, Golden age Center and the Joy Group.
Eunice also loved to garden and was always gracious to share her garden
treats with friends and neighbors. Eunice enjoyed cooking and baking. She
loved to travel and visit with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Ida Wycoff; husband,
Henry, who passed away April 1, 1996; brothers, Parry and Lawrence Wycoff;
sisters-in-law, Blanche and Marie Wycoff and a brother-in-law, Coy Breuer.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Moreland and husband Bill of
Jefferson City, Missouri; grandsons, Chris and Charles Moreland; brother,
Marvin Wycoff of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Ruby Breuer of Jefferson
City, Missouri; sister-in-law, Gracie Wycoff of St. James, Missouri;
exchange student, Jacob Nilsson and wife Theresa; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at the St. James
Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary.
Funeral service was Friday, May 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the First Church of
God in St. James, Missouri with Don Carson and Rob Kesphler officiating.
Interment was in the St. James Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary.
Herman “Dwight” Green
Herman “Dwight” Green of Steelville, Missouri was born February 5, 1939 in
Davisville, Missouri to Floyd Dwight Green and Gladys Delight (Lea) Green
and passed away on Friday, May 21, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in
St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 71 years.
He worked as a baker for Nabisco in St. Louis and retired after 30 years in
1988. Dwight was a member of the Baker’s Union of St. Louis.
Dwight enjoyed fishing and loved to hunt and was a big fan of the St. Louis
Cardinals. He and his little buddy, “Barney,” the dog was inseparable.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Gladys Green and one
brother, Dewayne Green.
He is survived by two sons, David Green of Hillsboro, Missouri and Darren
Green and wife Denise of DeSoto, Missouri; one brother, Donnie Green of
Cherryville, Missouri; one sister, Dormalee Chew and husband Bob of Cuba,
Missouri; three grandchildren; Shawn Green, Grant Green and Ryan Green; two
great grandchildren, Hunter Green and Mason Green; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Special music
of “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art” were played.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Davisville Cemetery.
Casket bearers were David Green, Shawn Green, Grant Green, Ryan Green, Dean
Wymer and Ken Lawson.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in
Steelville, Missouri.
Charles L. Kossuth
Charles L. Kossuth of Rolla, Missouri was born near Veto, Missouri on
September 3, 1928 to Louis and Helen (Brown) Kossuth and passed away on
Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Rolla Manor Care Center at the age of 81 years.
In September of 1990 he married Elva Lay Appleby. He was a veteran of the
U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva; father, Louis Kossuth; mother,
Helen Kossuth Southard; one brother, Carl E. Kossuth and stepfather,
Clarence L. Southard.
He is survived by his son, Bob Appleby and wife Angie of Webby City,
Missouri; two grandchildren, Matt Appleby of St. Louis, Missouri and Katy
Jones of Webb City, Missouri; one great granddaughter, Samantha Jones of
Webb City, Missouri; two sisters, Carol McMinn and husband Bob of St. James,
Missouri and Connie Dixon of Vichy, Missouri; one brother, Clarence
Southard Jr. and wife Dee of St. James, Missouri; sister-in-law, Ruth
Kossuth Gilliam of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the
Macedonia Cemetery in rural Rolla, Missouri, with Brother Dan Bauder
officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla,
Missouri.
Kenneth R. Lechten
Kenneth R. Lechten of Sullivan, Missouri was born on December 27, 1943 at
Sullivan, Missouri to James F. and Beulah (Stroup) Lechten and passed away
Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the age of 66 years.
He was a life long resident of the Sullivan area and was a long time
employee of the Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, Missouri. He was employed
as an assembler and later retired from there. At home he raised cattle and
enjoyed gardening. He was active with the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the
V.F.W. Kenneth also helped the Kiwanis Club erect flags on every holiday
and special events in Sullivan.
He was married to Mary Beyreis and to this marriage a daughter was born.
He is survived by his wife Mary of the family home; one daughter, Patty
Lechten and husband Mike O’Connor of Ontario, Canada; his mother, Beulah
Lechten of Sullivan, Missouri; one brother, James Lechten and wife Rosemary
of Bourbon, Missouri; a grandson, Ryan; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from the
Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 from
the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Charles Idelman officiating.
Interment was in Oddfellows Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan,
Missouri.
Marcialee Cruts Redwine
Marcialee Cruts Redwine of Rolla, Missouri, was born August 13, 1932, the
daughter of John Jacob Claude Cruts and Alice Eugenia Davis Cruts in
St. James, Missouri and passed away May 26, 2010, in PCRMC hospital, at the
age of 77 years.
Marcialee was a long time employee of JC Penney when the location was on
Pine Street, United Telephone Co. and was an avid antique collector. She had
a great wit and even was discussing Red Skelton and his humor before her
passing. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed spinning a tale every
chance that she got.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Leslie Redwine Jr.; her
parents, John and Alice Cruts; brothers, Elmer, John and William Robert
Cruts.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Keasling and Pam DeLuca and son
Michael, all of Rolla, Missouri; son, Mart of Columbia, Missouri;
grandchildren, Brandon DeLuca, Ryan Tyler and Jared Redwine; five great
grandchildren; sister, Marion Perenboom Cook of Escanaba, Michigan; special
niece, Sharon Cruts Wilson of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and
friends.
Marcialee requested that her body be donated for science to help others.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Timothy A. Sharkey Sr.
Timothy A. Sharkey, Sr., of Bourbon, Missouri was born November 22, 1942 at
Laredo, Texas to Ernest and Alice (Overstreet) Sharkey and passed away
Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the age of 68 years.
He honorably served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army.
He was employed with Uniroyal and later United Rentals. He was known as a
very talented man who enjoyed working with his hands and was a “jack of
all trades”. He was also skilled in air conditioning repair, refrigeration
repair, electronics and television repair.
Timothy came to Missouri in 2000 and on February 26, 2001 was united in
marriage to Marjorie Clarke Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Alice Sharkey and a
brother, Ernest Sharkey.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie of the family home; two daughters,
Mary A. Homrighaus and husband Henry III of San Antonio Texas and Carol A.
Sharkey and husband Christopher, of Galveston, Texas; one son, Timothy A.
Sharkey, Jr. and wife Monica of Laredo, Texas; his grandchildren, Joseph
Timothy, Jason, Hondo, Rosemary, Meagan, Hannah Rose, Timothy III and
Lauren; step-children, John Miller of Bourbon, Missouri, Janet Miller of
Sullivan, Missouri, James Miller and wife Amy of O’Fallon, Missouri and
Judy Miller of Bolivar, Missouri; step grandchildren, Janet Ann Morgan,
Bradley, Zach and Emily Miller; two brothers, Edward and Danny Sharkey; a
sister, Ester Tramel and husband Nolan; other relatives and friends.
Memorial funeral services were conducted 10 a.m., Monday, May 31, 2010 from
the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastor Woodrow Martin
officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home.
