LaMontagne Kelly and passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the age of 74 years. On December 29, 1981, she was united in marriage to Phillip Bass. Kathleen was a dedicated registered nurse and spent over 40 years in that profession. She retired from Phelps County Regional Medical Center in 2009. She enjoyed reading and caring for stray animals. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Margaret Kelly; and her husband, Phil Bass. She is survived by her three daughters, Michelle Quinlivan of St. Louis, Missouri, Denise Breeden of Farmington, New Mexico and Kelly Laughlin of St. Peters, Missouri; two brothers, Jack Kelly of Massachusetts and Jerrold Kelly of New Hampshire; one sister, Sheila Kelly White of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Donald E. Brewer Donald E. Brewer of Cuba, Missouri was born to Roy O. and Alice (Carroll) Brewer on July 21, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the age of 75 years. Donald retired after 30 years of dedicated service to the School District of Tinley Park, Illinois as a Maintenance Custodian. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Rolla, Missouri. He enjoyed his truck, guns, being a jack of all trades and a storyteller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Alice Brewer; wife, Jeanne Brewer; one brother, Pinckney Andrew Brewer; and two sisters, Margaret Senecal and Faye Parnell. Rick Hutchings Rick Hutchings of Cuba, Missouri was born on Friday, November 6, 1942 in Potosi, Missouri to Gentry Willard and Trula Esther Fryman Hutchings and passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 19 days. Rick served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Karen Beth Ranzenberger on December 21, 1964 in Caledonia, Minnesota and to this union four children were born. Rick worked all his adult life as a logger mostly in Crawford County and the midwest, including a few years in Anamosa, Iowa. He liked watching NASCAR and in his earlier years enjoyed attending flat track races in Iowa. (Takasaki) Johnson of Moberly, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, Missouri was born on Thursday, November 27, 1924 in Fukushima, Japan to Toyo Jro and Hushi Takasaki and passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in Moberly, Missouri at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 29 days. She married Donald J. Johnson on March 25, 1955 in Tokyo, Japan. Upon settling in the United States she was employed as an insole cutter by Brown Shoe Company in Steelville, Missouri. She was an outstanding gardener and loved working outdoors. She also enjoyed fishing, baking, cooking, traveling and watching Cardinal's baseball. She was preceded in death by her parents, Toyo and Hushi Takasaki; husband, Donald J. Johnson; daughter, Lorna Johnson; four brothers; and one sister. Robert William Long Robert William Long of High Ridge, Missouri, formerly of Rolla, Missouri, was born in Cuba, Missouri on May 26, 1924 to William Clarence and Florence (Wilson) Long and passed away Wednesday. May 27, 2015 at the age of 91 years. On May 25, 1946 he married Esther Ione (Park), in holy matrimony. The two shared 58 years of marriage. In 1943 Robert joined the US Army and proudly served three years in the South Pacific. His career with the Prudential Insurance Company spanned 40 years. He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and an avid golfer and fisherman though his primary focus always remained his family. Marchi of High Ridge, Missouri, formerly of Cuba, Missouri, was born Friday, March 23, 1928 at St. Louis, Missouri to John and Margaret (nee Younker) Mayes and passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 at the age of 87 years. Marian's career was about taking care of others. She worked for the Nursing Services in Steelville, Missouri a few years, she worked as the Art Director for the Resource Recovery of Cuba for 10 years and then the last 10 years of her career she worked as a Home Health Care aide for the patients referred to her by Dr. Agasino. When Marian lived in Cuba, Missouri she was a devout member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and she was a member of the VFW Post #2593 Ladies Auxiliary in Arnold. Marian enjoyed reading, needle work and taking care of others. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Mayes; son, John Wieland; one grandson, Andrew Nahlik; and one sister, Virginia and husband Joseph Rambicourt. Jimmy married Rebecca Damo on April 2, 2002 in Steelville, Missouri and to this union four children were born. He worked several years at Conaway Saw Mill in Steelville, Missouri and later at McGinnis Wood Products in Cuba, Missouri. He enjoyed fishing, floating the river and riding bikes with his children. He also, played on a pool league. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy McNiff; and brother-in-law, Shaun Damo. Homer Lee Mounce Homer Lee Mounce of St. James, Missouri was born in Salem, Missouri on June 8, 1921 to Robert and Julie (Norris) Mounce and passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the age of 93 years. Homer proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII from 1942-1945 where he received four Bronze Star Medals. On December 15, 1961 Homer was united in marriage to Mildred Bailey. Homer attended the Assembly of God Church in St. James, Missouri for several years. He enjoyed Cardinal baseball, deer hunting, fishing, and playing baseball. He played baseball well into his 50's. He worked in the timber industry cutting cord wood for most of his life, as a matter of fact he was still cutting wood at the age of 90. Anyone who bought wood from Homer knew two things, the wood would be good wood and if you asked for a cord of wood that is exactly what you would get. He always cut with a yard stick to make sure that everybody received what they paid for. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed working with people. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Julie Mounce; brother, Jimmy Mounce; sister, Ada Gibson; and step-daughter, Sandra Hoffman. Fern Tallent Fern Tallent of Poplar Bluff, Missouri was born December 5, 1921 in Ashland, Kansas to Oscar and Mabel Campbell Rader and passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at the age of 93 years. She completed her undergraduate degree in education at Southeast Missouri State University and received her Master's Degree from Drury College. She retired from teaching after 30 years in the classroom. She also served as a substitute teacher and helped at various schools with first grade reading. Fern was a member of First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, was a former member of the Red Hat Society in Pensacola, Florida and was a former volunteer at the Margaret Harwell Art Museum. On June 25, 1942, she married Ora T. Tallent. She was known by many as a coffee snob and was well received at blood donation mobile sites for her wonderful brownies. Fern loved to spend time with her family, reading and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mabel Rader; her husband Ora Tallent in 1985; a son, Grayson; a sister, Laura; and three brothers, Bill, Bob and George. He married Frances Gibbs on June 22, 1957 in Davisville, Missouri and to this union three children was born. Harry served our country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and donated his Army uniform to the Crawford County Museum in Cuba, Missouri. During the 1950's, he was a patrolman for the Missouri Highway Patrol for a few years. Afterwards, he was employed by Continental Trailways and Yellow Freight Systems and retired in 1990. After retirement, he and his wife traveled to many states across the USA and also overseas to Germany, France and Austria. In his spare time, he enjoyed auctions, visiting with the group at the round table in Viburnum and playing bingo. Harry was a member of the American Legion in Davisville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Della Thomas; two brothers, Paul Thomas and Frank Thomas; and one sister, Leah Land. Frieda attended Oak Hill School. On February 12, 1946 she married Raymond Weiskopf in San Francisco, California. Frieda was a housewife and a member of Old Argo Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her pets and flowers. Pat, as she was known by her family and friends, was a long time employee of Aerofil Corporation in Sullivan, Missouri working in Human Resources and eventually retired from there. Pat enjoyed collecting music boxes and playing the piano. She recently took up the art of crocheting. On January 14, 1978 Pat was united in marriage to Randolph (Randy) Wideman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milo and Mary Hutschreider; and a son, Curtis Rogers.
