MO Local Obituaries for the Week of June 6, 2012 William Buddy “Dub” Bice William Buddy “Dub” Bice of Leasburg, Missouri was born to Emery and Etta (Gray) Bice on December 29, 1931 in McAlester, Oklahoma and passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at his home at the age of 80 years. Dub retired from the Kroger Warehouse in St. Louis after 33 years of service. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Etta (Gray) Bice; one grandson, John Shryock; one brother, Bobby Bice and one sister, Betty Jean Bice. He is survived by his son, William B. and wife Terrie Bice, Jr. of Leasburg, Missouri; three daughters, Linda Shryock of Modesto, California, Brenda Bealieu of Fresno, California, Patricia and husband Woody Oakley of Clovis, California; four brothers, Arvil Bice of McAlester, Oklahoma, Bud Bice of Southwest City, Missouri, Ronald Bice of Cassville, Missouri and Larry Bice of Carthage, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Boesing of Cuba, Missouri was born February 2, 1958 at Bonne Terre, Missouri and passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012 at her home at the age of 54 years and 4 months. Cindy was self-employed for many years as a computer website builder. She was a very talented musician and could play most any instrument. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Boesing; step mother, Dorothy Boesing; two brothers, Larry and Bobby Boesing; other relatives and friends. She is survived by her niece, Angela Boesing and her family; other relatives and friends. In keeping with Cindy’s wishes all services were private. Brunnert of St. Louis, Missouri was born at St. Louis, Missouri on January 12, 1928 to Bernard and Anna Brunnert and passed away May 24, 2012 at the age of 84 years. His father was a native of Koeltztown, Missouri. Fr. Brunnert was baptized in the St. Francis de Sales Church, So. St. Louis. Fr. Brunnet was a very much beloved pastor of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in Potosi, Missouri, from 1971 to 1979. He was educated in the St. Louis archdiocesan seminaries, finishing his theological studies at Kenrick Seminary in 1954. He was ordained to the Catholic priesthood on April 3, 1954, by then Archbishop Joseph Ritter. His parish assignments included: All Souls, Overland, 1954-1965; St. Sebastian, Glenn Owen, 1966-1971; first pastorate, St. James Parish, Potosi, 1971-1979; Assumption, O’Fallon 1979-1986; St. Bridget, Pacific, 1986-1989; St. Anthony of Padua, Sullivan, 1989-2005, (administrator Holy Martyrs of Japan, Japan, (2001-2005). In 2003 he completed the process of building a new parish school at Sullivan. Retiring in 2005, he lived in residence at St. Joan of Arc Parish, St. Louis, Missouri. Since 2012, he had been a resident of Regina Cleri Residence for retired priests in Shrewsbury. He was preceded in death by one sister, Loretta (Joseph) Kwiatkowski, St. Louis, Missouri; a brother, Fr. Lawrence Brunnert, U.S. Army Catholic chaplain; nephew, Urban Brunnert of Argyle, Missouri; and nieces, Angeline Brunnert and Irma Muehlenkamp. He is survived by a sister, Delores (Eugene) Zerbarini, St. Louis; and nieces, Bernie Otke of Wardsville; and Delphine Toenjes of Florissant. The Mass of Christian Burial of a Priest was celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Church, St. Louis, Missouri on May 29, 2012. Archbishop Robert J. Carlson presided as the main celebrant. Fr. Nicholas Smith delivered the homily. Some 40 fellow priests concelebrated the Mass, and following the commendation rites, the assembled priests sang the traditional “Salve Regina” (Hail Holy Queen). Geraldine L. “Geri” Collias Geraldine L. “Geri” Collias (nee Robinson) of Sullivan, Missouri was born February 15, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri at the age of 72 years. Geri was united in marriage to Jean N. Collias, Sr. on March 15, 1957 and to this union four children were born. Geri was a retired Registered Nurse having worked at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri and St. Louis, Missouri and Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, sewing, genealogy, gambling, scratch off lottery tickets, going to the horse races and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Robinson, Bessie Evelyn (Dodd) Schone; one brother, Russell Robinson. She is survived by her husband, Jean N. Collias, Sr. of Sullivan, Missouri; four children, Jean N. Collias Jr. of Robertsville, Missouri, Theodore E. and wife Connie Collias of Warrenton, Missouri, Maria L. and husband Edward Potter of Leasburg, Missouri, Melanie and husband Larry Busse of Sullivan, Missouri; one sister, Edna Kelso of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Bill and wife Nyla Mae O’Donnell of Mexico, Missouri, Joseph and wife Margaret Collias of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. George Willis Galovich, 67, former pastor of St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri was born on February 5, 1945 to Samuel and Lucy F. (Peterson) Galovich, of Galesburg, Illinois and passed away May 25, 2012 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 67 years. He had served 18 years as pastor of the Washington County parish from 1989 to June 2008. Following his seminary studies at the archdiocesan seminaries in St. Louis, Missouri, he was ordained to the Catholic priesthood on May 29, 1971 by John Cardinal Carberry.   Prior to his retirement in 2008, he had also served at parish assignments in Holy Innocents Church, St. Louis; St. Ann Church, Normandy; and as a member of the faculty of St. Thomas Aquinas-Mercy High School in Florissant.  He had lived in Bonne Terre, Missouri since his retirement. He is survived by two sisters, Lucy K. Galovich-Cox of Palatine, Illinois and Jean (Stephen) Sum of Riverside, Illinois; and two nephews. Visitation was held on May 30, 2012 at the Moore Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri. The Mass of Christian Burial for a Priest followed at 11 a.m. at St. James Church in Potosi, Missouri. He had served as pastor there for 18 years. The principal celebrant of the Funeral Mass was Archbishop Robert J. Carlson, of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Fr. Brian Fischer, the archbishop’s secretary, served as the master of ceremony. Fr. John Schneider of Bonne Terre delivered the homily.  The pastor, Fr. Joe Welschmeyer hosted 25 priest concelebrants from the area parishes, and from around the St. Louis area. An honor guard consisted of Knights of Columbus from St. Francois County. Knights of Columbus from Council 5936, Old Mines, served as pallbearers.   When the remains were taken from the parish church, the 25 brother priests formed two lines of an honor guard, lining the way to the hearse. It is a custom that the priestly honor guard sings the salutatory, a capalla Marian hymn in Latin, “Salve Regina” as their brother priest was carried by. The committal rites were led by Fr. John Schneider, at the parish’s Calvary Cemetery on Hwy 8 West.  Fr. Galovich is the first priest to be buried from the parish, as well as being the first priest to be buried in the “priest’s plot” area of the cemetery, since the parish was established in 1829, 183 years ago. Christopher Allen Harrah Christopher Allen Harrah of Rolla, Missouri was born on August 5, 1985 in Springfield, Missouri to Mike and Kathy (Whitworth) Harrah and passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the age of 26 years. Chris was an outstanding athlete, a great father and a wonderful son. If shown anything once, he would perfect it the first time. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Eloise Whitworth. Donald Lee Ives Donald Lee Ives of Cuba, Missouri was born October 4, 1928 at Cherryville, Missouri to Seldon and Lena (nee Wright) Ives and passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 83 years. Don was united in marriage to Marcella Marie Dyer on May 10, 1952 when they eloped in Arkansas. To this union three children were born. Don proudly served his country while in the United States Army. He started his service in 1947 in the 511th Airborne earning his ‘Jumping Wings’ and ‘Sharp Shooter’ ribbons. He was injured during a parachuting exercise nevertheless, Don continued serving his country while in Yokohama, Japan in the Inspector 8th Army Headquarters. Don had many business ventures owning various nightclubs. He went into insurance sales with Mark Twain Life Insurance Company where he served as Regional Manager, earning many sales awards. He also had a car business, “Don Ives Motors,” until his retirement in the early 1990’s. Don never really retired but built duplexes, homes and sold real estate both in Cuba, Missouri and in Florida. He enjoyed playing the guitar, body building, riding and breaking horses and trading cattle. He felt like his biggest accomplishment in his life was finding his way to the Lord when he was baptized and was active in his church by singing in the choir and playing his guitar. He also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba, the Steelville’s Lebanon Masonic Lodge #77 and served one year as Masonic Chaplain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Seldon and Lena Ives; wife, Marcella of 58 years in 2010; one son, Donald “Donnie” Ives in 1996; four brothers, Ed, Delmar, Harles, and Ansley ‘Hank’ Ives; one sister, Wilma Bouse; other relatives and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Schwieder of O’Fallon, Missouri; son, Steven and wife Theresa Ives of Cuba, Missouri; four grandchildren, Caleb, Malachi and Ian Ives and Alexandra Schweider; three sisters, Marvel Kaysinger of St. Louis, Missouri, Norma Jean Belt of Cuba, Missouri and Hallie Bouse; special caregiver, Melody Martin; other relatives and friends. Edna Jewell Picker Edna Jewell Picker of Rolla, Missouri was born on September 23, 1928 in Belle, Missouri to William and Gustia (Imboden) Gray and passed away at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center on May 29, 2012 at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 6 days. Edna was united in marriage to Freddie Picker on August 2, 1946 in Linn, Missouri. Edna Picker was a foster mother and a Senior Companion for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Picker; parents, William and Gustia Gray; one daughter, Debbie Sieber; two sons-in-law, Gene Hadley and Earnest Lloyd; one brother, Harold Gray; and two grandchildren, Charlie Hadley and Dawn Schuchmann. She is survived by one son, Stanley Picker of St. James, Missouri; three daughters, Barbara Hadley of St. James, Missouri, Linda Lloyd of St. James, Missouri and Patty Gorman and husband Larry of Ozark, Missouri; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Marion Carroll Skouby Marion Carroll Skouby of St. James, Missouri was born on September 29, 1931 in Bland, Missouri to Charles I. and Margaret (Cassel) Skouby and passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Troy, Missouri at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 21 days. Marion was united in marriage to Marian Ruth Skouby on May 11, 1958 in Golden, Illinois. Marion has a BS Civil Engineering from University of Missouri-Rolla and MS Civil Engineering from University of Illinois - Urbana.   He worked as a geotechnical engineer and was recognized as an expert in construction dewatering. He continued his career as a consultant part time after he retired. He was a former Boy Scout Master.  He enjoyed camping and canoeing. He loved his profession and solving problems.  He was a member of Chi Epsilon, Missouri Society of Professional Engineers and American Society of Civil Engineers.  He had a great sense of humor.  He served in the US Army in Korea. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret Skouby; wife, Marian Ruth Skouby on January 6, 2005; brothers, Anton Skouby, Alan Skouby and Charles Skouby; one sister, Mary Skouby. Artie was a lifelong St. James resident. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and taking care of her home.
