MO Local Obituaries for the Week of June 9, 2005 Alvin Albert Adair Alvin Albert Adair of Rockford, Illinois, died Sunday, May 29, 2005, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born June 10, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of William and Dollie (Bridgeman) Adair. He married Mary Jackson in Cuba, Missouri. Alvin will be greatly missed by family and all who knew him. He loved to make people smile with his fun-loving antics. Survivors include wife Mary; son Brian (Paula) Adair of Rockford, Illinois; daughter-in-law Linda Adair of Rockford, Illinois; grandchildren Tony, Jared, Brianna, Brandi and Becci, all of Rockford, Illinois; Brother Gene (Shirley) Adair of Cuba, Missouri; sisters Norma Turnbough, Dixie (John) Beckett of Bourbon, Missouri, Brenda (Johnny) Bland and Deborah (Mike) Starks of Cuba, Missouri; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Paul Adair and William Adair and son Lowell Wade Adair. Graveside services were Wednesday, June 1 at 1 p.m. in Highland Garden of Memories, Belvidere, with his brother Gene Adair officiating. Arrangements completed by Honquest Family Funeral Home. William Sweetin Beezley William Sweetin Beezley of Steelville, Missouri was born on August 9, 1930 at Wesco, Missouri to the union of Levi L. Beezley and Georgianna Sweetin Beezley and passed away on June 1, 2005 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center of Rolla, Missouri at the age of 74 years 9 months and 22 days. William was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters, Mary Cowell, Willetta Goodman, Mildred Van Patten, Bonnie Ledoux, Betty Mae Hughes and Mable Hannah Bland. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his two sisters, Gertrude Schubert of Sullivan, Missouri and Irene Seener of St. Louis, Missouri and his nine children. William was a truck driver most of his life and then went to work at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. At that time he donated his body for the help of research. To comply with his wishes he was taken to the University in Kansas. For the past two years William had been a resident at the Gibbs Care Center in Steelville, Missouri and had made many new friends there as well. William will be sadly missed by his friends, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He will be sadly missed and loved by all who knew him. We will also celebrate his life as the special man he was. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Larry Ray Garrison Larry Ray Garrison of Cuba, Missouri was born on December 26, 1945 at Steelville, Missouri to the union of Orville Garrison and Oma Jackson Garrison and passed away on May 27, 2005 at his home in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 59 years 5 months and 1 day. On May 19, 1992 Larry was united in marriage to Pam Henson at Farmington, Missouri. They have been happily married for 13 years. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, Michelle Garrison and one sister, Velma Luck. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his devoted wife Pam Garrison; one son Timothy Garrison; four daughters Tammy Miller, Mindy Brenton, Amanda Garrison and Mary Garrison; one stepson Curtis Henson; one stepdaughter Micki Henson; one sister Vivian Loughridge and husband Darrel; 26 grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Larry was a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Larry Ray Garrison was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 7 p.m. with Darrel Loughridge officiating. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Audrey McClelland Audrey McClelland nee Paule of Valley Park, Missouri was born on March 8, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to the union of Arthur and Julia Paule and passed away on May 31, 2005 at her home in Valley Park, Missouri at the age of 83 years 2 months and 23 days. On May 17, 1946 Audrey was united in marriage to George McClelland. One son, Steve, was born to this union. They were happily married until George preceded Audrey in death on February 24, 1986. Audrey was also preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Julia Paule. Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her son, Steve McClelland and wife Ginger; one brother Raymond Ederati and wife Mary; one sister-in-law Catherine Bergmann; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Audrey was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. A private service and interment for Audrey Paule McClelland was held on June 3, 2005 at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, and Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Alleen Amy Palmer Alleen Amy Palmer, nee LaRue, was born July 28, 1910 at Sligo, Missouri, the daughter of the late Edwin E. LaRue and Dollie Alleen LaRue nee Hibler and passed away on May 26, 2005 at the age of 94 years, 9 months and 28 days. She was married to Ralph Edward Palmer on June 26, 1936. To this union four children, Judith P. Foard, Jill K. McWilliams, Ralph Edward Palmer Jr. and Jack L. Palmer were born. She is survived by her four children, Judith and husband Lawrence "Larry" Foard of Westfield, Massachusetts, Jill and husband Edwin "Ed" McWilliams of East Prairie, Missouri, Ralph Palmer and wife Coralynn of Houston, Texas, Jack Palmer and wife Karol of Independence, Missouri. Nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a cousin, Theresa Schwieder of Steelville, Missouri, who raised by Alleen's mother was as a younger sister to her. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, and her sisters Glendolen Stephens, Gladys Rivers, Evelyn LeRoy, Reba E. LaRue, Georgia LaRue, and brother Ferdinand LaRue. After graduating from Central High School in St. Louis, Alleen worked in the business office of Highland Dairy Farms Company. When her children were young she kept books for her brother-in-law, Vernon Palmer, who operated the Spare Rib Inn in Steelville. Later, her husband opened the Frosty Whip, a soft ice cream place, and she worked there for a number of years. For 10 years she and her husband owned and operated the Spare Rib Inn. She was a member of the Mary and Martha No. 364 Order of Eastern Star where she was Worthy Matron in 1965. For many years she belonged to Steelville Quest Club. She was an active member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church serving as an elder and Sunday School Teacher. She also was in the Women's Circle and the church choir. In 1988, she received an award for giving over 500 hours of voluntary service at Gibbs Care Center. In the past three years, she had lived in East Prairie, Missouri with her daughter, Jill McWilliams and at the East Prairie Nursing Center. Alleen Amy Palmer was in state at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home where visitation hours were from 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2005. The funeral service was held at the Steelville Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Musical selections were provided by Jack Palmer, organist; vocalist Judith Foard, Jill McWilliams and Fleming McWilliams. The eulogy was given by Judith Foard and Ed Palmer, with the obituary read by Kyle Palmer. Committal prayers and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. Honoring Alleen as pallbearers were Daniel Bartlett, Edwin McWilliams, Shawn McWilliams, Kyle Palmer, Terry Palmer, and Kem Schwieder. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Bros. Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
