Viola Rosa Agricola
Viola Rose Agricola of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Jennings, Missouri was
born April 29, 1913 to Frederick and Ida (Schmidt) Cluss in St. Louis,
Missouri and passed away on Friday, May 29, 2009 at the Cuba Manor in Cuba,
Missouri at the age of 96 years.
On April 28, 1934, Viola and August John Agricola were married in St. Louis,
Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1966.
Viola enjoyed life and loved to garden, sew, cook and dance. She had been an
active member of the senior citizen clubs in St. Louis for many years. Viola
was known for her fastidious housekeeping skills and wonderful cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Ida Cluss; husband,
August; two brothers, Frederick Cluss and Edwin Cluss; two half-brothers
Charles Pitts and Walter Pitts and one sister, Flora White.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Wiget and husband Frank of Steelville,
Missouri; one son Richard John Agricola and wife Shirley of Durham, North
Carolina; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Agricola and wife Shannon, Kathy
Pearson and husband Edward and Frank David Wiget and wife Barbara; three
great grandchildren, Edward A. Pearson II, Dorthea Michelle Pearson and
Crystal Ann Wiget; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Britton-Bennett
Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2009 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers
officiating. Special music of “I Am Weak But Thou Art Strong” and “Amazing
Grace” was sang and played by Rev. Jerry Beers. A poem was read by great
granddaughter, Crystal Wiget.
Casket bearers were Richard Agricola, Ed Pearson, Edward Pearson II, Frank
Wiget, David Wiget and Barbara Wiget.
Committal prayer and burial were at the Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis,
Missouri.

Koradine C. Alexander
Koradine C. Alexander of Cuba, Missouri was born on July 9, 1915 in Cook
Station, Missouri to the union of Edward J. Smith and Maud Etta Musgraves
Smith and passed away on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Gibbs Care Center,
Steelville, Missouri at the age of 93 years, 10 months, and 27 days.
Koradine married William Ray Alexander on May 16, 1935 in Steelville,
Missouri and to this union three children were born.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Cuba, Missouri where she had
been active in the Woman’s Missionary Union as president as well as an
officer in the Baptist associations in nearby counties. She also was a
member of the Extension Club and Carr Friendship Club.
Koradine served along side her husband Rev. Ray Alexander when he pastored
several country churches in the area. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Maud Smith; husband,
Ray; infant sister; brother, Orville Kenneth (Loretta) Smith, sisters-in-law,
Delma Martin and Dolly (Noel) Alexander; and grandson, Kyle Miller.
She is survived by her children, Jack (Arlene) Alexander of Cuba, Missouri,
Donna Rae (Keith) Miller of Springfield, Missouri and Deborah Kay (Robert)
Templeton of Conover, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Joe (Geraldine)
Alexander; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great
grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. with funeral service at
2 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri
with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating.
Burial at Carr Cemetery, Cook Station, Missouri with pallbearers, Ron Smith,
Tim Smith, Jerry Martin, Mike Ransom, Chris Ransom, and Joe Alexander.

Wanda L. Davis
Wanda L. Davis of St. James, Missouri was born May 18, 1926, at High Gate,
Missouri to Edward Allen and Gertie E. (Swaw) Birdsong and passed away
June 5, 2009 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri
at the age of 83 years and 18 days.
On May 23, 1942, at Vienna, Missouri, Wanda Davis was united in marriage to
John Alfred “Tinker” Davis. He passed away December 13, 1984.
Wanda and her husband, “Tinker”, were life long residents of the High Gate
Community. She attended the High Gate Baptist Church where she played the
piano for 70 years. She was a loving person who always had a friendly smile
and a kind word wherever you met her. She worked for 20 years at the Grocery
Store in St. James, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Gertie Birdsong; husband,
John Davis and brother, Conrad Birdsong.
She is survived by one son, Don Davis and his wife Bonnie; two daughters,
Jo Ann Pointer and husband Junior and Judy Boggs and friend Dave Gabel, all
of St. James, Missouri; five grandchildren, Tammi Meese of Nixa, Missouri,
Jeff Davis of Washington, D.C., Brian Davis of Rolla, Missouri, Darin Boggs
of St. James, Missouri and Lori Burks of Columbia, Missouri; nine great
grandchildren, Jamie Meese, Sherry Meese, Kelsey Davis, Alison Davis, Macey
Davis, Michael Harrah, Dawson Boggs, Hunter Burks and Hayden Burks.
Visitation Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in
St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday June 8, 2009, at the High
Gate Baptist Church with Boyd Gray officiating.
Music was provided by Harold Rowden and family. Hymns, “When We All Get to
Heaven”, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “Far Side Banks of Jorden”
were sung.
Pallbearers were Quentin Satterfield, Aaron Satterfield, Jeff Davis, Brian
Davis, Darin Boggs and Rick Meese.
Burial was in the family plot at the High Gate Baptist Church Cemetery.

Phinis H. Deardeuff
Phinis H. Deardeuff of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Elmer and
Leona (Slavens) Deardeuff on Saturday, July 26, 1947 in Macks Creek,
Missouri and passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009 in Cuba, Missouri at the age
of 61 years, 10 months and 8 days.
Phinis served the Community of Cuba, Missouri starting on May 15, 1978 as a
Patrolman with the Cuba Police Department and continued rising in the depart-
ment to Lieutenant. He was assigned as Cuba Police Departments first full
time Detective and retired on December 31, 2002.
Phinis served as an educator, teaching firearm safety through the NRA Eddy
Eagle Program, Hunter’s Safety Classes through the Missouri Department of
Conservation, and as Firearms Instructor with the Cuba Police Department.
He was a member of The Upper Meramec Fur Trappers and Traders Club, the Cuba
Historical Society and the Rivervalley Rod and Custom Car Club. He was a
Lifetime member of the NRA and North American Hunting Club.
Phinis, with his late wife Joyce, served many hours in different organiza-
tions and he contributed to our community through his position with the Cuba
Police Department has made the City of Cuba, Missouri a better place for all
to live.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Deardeuff; wife, Joyce (Copling)
Deardeuff; other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his two, daughters Sheila and husband Jamie Talburt of
Payson, Illinois and Cheri and husband Ramiro Viramontes of Cuba, Missouri;
mother, Leona Sutton of St. James, Missouri; one sister, Ella Hughes of Salem,
Missouri; three brothers, Carl and wife Nancy Deardeuff of Cuba, Missouri,
Sherman and wife Covenly Deardeuff of Ashland, Missouri and Cecil and wife
Shirley Deardeuff of St. James, Missouri; five grandchildren, Ryan Deardeuff,
Bobby Joe Smith, Cody Lee Deardeuff, Bobby Scott Hinson, Jr. and Chasity
Taylor Hinson; mother-in-law, Louise M. (Gruver) and husband Bill Lause of

Alice K. Doyle
Alice Katherine Doyle of Cuba, Missouri was born Thursday, September 12, 1929
at Jonesboro, Arkansas to the union of Glenn and Vada (nee Pendleton) Ballard
and passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of
79 years, 8 months and 20 days.
Alice was united in marriage to Sam Doyle on September 16, 1947 at Wynn,
Arkansas and to this union two daughters were born.
Alice retired from Lutheran Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri after 29 1/2 years
of dedicated service. Alice and Sam moved to Indian Hills in 1983 and Alice
started taking care of others and then she started cleaning houses until she
totally retired in 1998. Alice was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Cuba.
She enjoyed watching her hummingbirds, reading, housekeeping, quilting, but
what she enjoyed and loved most in life was her family and spending time with
them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Vada Ballard; son-in-law,
Joseph Glenn Kruse; brother, Cleadis “Roger” Ballard; sister, Betty Sue
Ballard; other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, Sam Doyle of Cuba,
Missouri; two daughters, Reba and husband Tom Picard of Suwanee, Georgia and
Sandra Ann Kruse of Monroe, North Carolina; one brother, Charles Ballard of
Cuba, Missouri; five grandchildren, Tommy, Tammy, Kevin, Kimmy and Jeff; four
great grandchildren, Alexandra, Tyler, Karissa and Katie; sister-in-law to
Bobby Lee Doyle of Cabot, Arkansas, Theodore Doyle of Aspen, Illinois and Ola
Mae McCamon of Wynn, Arkansas; other relatives and friends.

Home of Cuba.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Britton Funeral
Home of Cuba with Pastor Bob Knight officiating. Special music for the
service was “In the Garden” and “Amazing Grace.”
Interment followed at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

Darlene Mary Jones Groh
Darlene Mary Jones Groh was born on May 5, 1940 in St. James, Missouri to
Homer and Martha (Miller) Swyers passed away at her home in St. James,
Missouri on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the age of 69 years, 1 month and
3 days of age.
She was first married to Roy Jones on April 21, 1956. After his death she
then married Dean Groh.
Darlene was a loving and kind person. She loved her children, and grand-
children very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Martha (Miller) Swyers;
husband, Roy M. Jones on January 1, 1989; infant daughter, Jennifer Jones;
and two brothers, Robert and Don Swyers.
She is survived by her husband, Dean Groh of St. James, Missouri; one son,
Rick Jones and wife Kay of St. James, Missouri; one daughter, Angelia
Montgomery and husband Shane of Warrensburg, Missouri; one brother, Lloyd
Swyers of St. James, Missouri; two sister, Leloa Fuhring and Ruby Matlock
both of St. James, Missouri; four grandchildren and seven great
grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, June 8, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the Jones
Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the
Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Bonham officiating. Music was
“Amazing Grace,” “Sheltered In The Arms Of God” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Pallbearers were Brian Swyers, Danny Matlock, David Pilotte, Steven Swyers,
Jeff Swyers, and Joshua Swyers.
Burial in the family plot in the Matlock Cemetery in rural St. James,
Missouri.

Bessie “Lorraine” Harrison
Bessie “Lorraine” Harrison of St. James, Missouri was born on
December 29, 1940 in Mineral Point, Missouri to Dewey and Alice (Davis)
Boyer and passed away Monday, June 1, 2009 in Rolla, Missouri at the age
of 68 years.
Lorraine loved watching television she especially loved the old westerns.
She enjoyed fishing, shopping and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Alice Boyer; sister,
Bonnie Boyer; brother, Robert Boyer; and stepdaughter, Judy Harrison.
She is survived by her children, Vickie Flegel and husband Tim, of Rolla,
Missouri, Marlana Powell, of Cuba, Missouri; stepson, David Harrison and
wife Winty, of Joilet, Illinois; grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, Dalton
and Angelina; nephew, Junior Boyer; cousin, Mike Watson.

service was Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the St. James Chapel of the James
& Gah Mortuary with Pastor Don Lowery officiating.

Frank S. House
Frank S. House of St. James, Missouri was born March 22, 1920 in Granite
City, Illinois to Charles and Maude (Wells) House and passed away
June 4, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in St. James, Missouri at the age
of 89 years.
Frank served his country in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring
February 1, 1963.
He was united in marriage to Catherine Bonham in Waco, Texas on
January 3, 1943 and to this union five children were born.
Frank was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. James and a member
of the VFW Post #7755. He operated a service station for many years after
his retirement from the Army. He enjoyed fishing, cars and spending time
with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maude House; daughters,
Martha Claus and Cathy Wallace.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine House of St. James,
Missouri; children, Eddie House and wife Lois of St. James, Missouri, Jean
Auxier and husband Sam of Rolla, Missouri, Jimmy House of St. James,
Missouri; brother, Charles House and wife Alice of Steelville, Missouri;
sister, Nora Fluent and husband Alan of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren;
12 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

James Wesley Manues Jr.
James Wesley Manues Jr. of Bland, Missouri was born August 14, 1971 to
James Manues Sr. and Mary Rhodes Manues and passed away June 3, 2009 at the
age of 37 years.
He worked at Pioneer Truss in Owensville, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Mary Manues.
He is survived by three sons, Shane and Tyler Manues of Owensville, Missouri
and James Manues III of Michigan and two sisters, Juanita and Denise.

Beulah Quinley
Beulah Quinley was born April 30, 1917 in Sligo, Missouri to Charles and
Bertha Hutson and passed away on June 3, 2009 at the age of 92 years.
She last resided in Piedmont, Missouri. She was the oldest of 10 children.
Beulah worked as a secretary alongside her husband in their real estate
office for 26 years until retiring. She was a Sunday school teacher for over
60 years and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Piedmont, Missouri.
Beulah was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ray Silas Quinley;
two infant children; siblings, Anna, Ross, Don, Jewel, Carl and Vivian.
She is survived by siblings Minnie and Ruby; two daughters, Virginia Talbert
(John) of Beardstown, Illinois and Brenda Cobb (Steven) of St. Charles,
Missouri; six grandchildren, Tammy Keenan (Mark), Spencer Talbert (Renita),
Tracy Talbert (Jeff Mornar), Melissa Demay (Ted), Christopher Whorton
(Corrie), and Brittney Cobb; 11 great grandchildren, and one great greatgrandchild.
Larry J. Williamson
Larry J. Williamson of St. James, Missouri was born June 21, 1939 in Fulton,
Missouri to Roy and Bernice (Wyatt) Williamson and passed away Wednesday,
June 3, 2009 at his home in rural St. James, Missouri, after a long and
courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 69 years.
Larry worked for many years at Phillips & Company in Rolla, Missouri.
Larry enjoyed working with shotguns, beautiful wood stocks, trapshooting,
and his German Wirehair dogs; he loved bird hunting and worked to improve
the quail population in the area.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Clifford Williamson and son,
Clifford Daniel Williamson.
He is survived by his wife, Leona, of the home; children, David Williamson
and wife Kathy of Rolla, Missouri, Angie McClure and husband Dan of Texas,
Alicia Barr and husband Matt of Rolla, Missouri, Doug Williamson and wife
Kim of Wyoming; step children, Jennifer Bauer and husband Kevin of Minot
AFB, North Dakota, William Biddle of St. Louis, Missouri, Allison Arias of
Fenton, Missouri; grandchildren, Jody and Jessica, of Texas, Casey, Mindy,

George Robert Williams
George Robert Williams of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, April 20, 1945 at
Watsonville, California to the union Jess Donald and Etha Annie (nee Spence)
Williams and passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Rolla, Missouri at the
age of 64 years, 1 month and 13 days.
George proudly served in the United States Army from 1968 till 1977. He
served two tours in Vietnam and Korea.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years. The last 12 years
he worked for J.H. Berra Construction in St. Louis, Missouri as a highlift
operator. He was a member of the Local 513 in Bridgeton, Missouri, VFW Post
7147 of Cuba and the American Legion Post of Cuba, Missouri.
George enjoyed food of all kinds, especially “White Castles.” In his
younger years he enjoyed fishing, camping, deer hunting, dancing and
garage selling. He was a collector of trains, knives and guns. He was known,
in the last several years, for his singing, toe tapping, enjoying peanut
butter and grape jelly sandwiches and chocolate milkshakes. But what
George enjoyed and loved most, was spending time with his family and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Etha Williams; sister,
Gayleanne Williams; grandson, Blake Robert Williams; other relatives and
friends.
He is survived by his wife, Annalee Williams of Cuba, Missouri; children,
Valerie Martin and Elaina Barnet of Arkansas, Robert Cannon Williams of
St. James, Missouri, Melanie Moore of Illinois, Christina and husband
Fernando Padilla of Cuba, Missouri, Christopher Grayson Lunsford and
fiancée Christine Utnage of Cuba, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Alexis, Audra,
Mark, Mara, Cody, Lexxie, Ciara, Ambyer, Jessica, Shianne and Stevi; two
great grandchildren, Matthew and Miyah; four sisters, Nancy Roose and
Arlene Roberts of California, BonniLee and husband Clifford Stockton and
MaryLou Kastens of Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Terry Grayson and Bob Riley

Home of Cuba with Pastor Bob Knight officiating. Special music for the
service was “Go Rest High on that Mountain,” “Ships of Heaven” and “Angel.”
Pallbearers were Paul Crow, Rodger Bridgeman, John Craig, Jason Riley,
Doug Cottrell and John Koch.
Interment followed at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with full
military honors.
