MO Local Obituaries for the Week of June 12, 2002 John David Ditch, Jr. John David Ditch, Jr. was born January 14, 1913, a son of the late John David Ditch, Sr. and Letha Adeline Ditch (nee Walton). He entered eternal rest Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Friendship Village of West County, Chesterfield, Mo., at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 18 days. John eloped with Dorothy Doyle on September 2, 1936, at Waterloo, Illinois, and was united in marriage by Rev. H. Kochheine. They later were married in St. Louis at the Maple Avenue Methodist by Rev. John Meredith, with both families present. One son and one daughter were born to his union. They enjoyed over 55 years together, before Dorothy's death, December 5, 1991. John enlisted in the Army Air Corp. in 1942 and was assigned to set up a ground safety program. He attended Washington University and later worked as an advertising executive. They settled permanently at Huzzah in 1977, after starting a home there in 1957. John was a member of American Legion Post #345, Steelville, for 29 years and past commander. Eucharist Memorial Service was held 9 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Webster Groves, Mo., under the direction of Bopp Chapel, Kirkwood, Mo. Committal prayers and interment was held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002 with presentation of the flag and military honors by American Legion Post #345, at Sanders Huzzah Cemetery, Steelville, Mo. Donna Lucille Eads Donna Lucille Eads (nee Robinson) was born Wednesday, December 31, 1947, in St. Louis County, Mo., a daughter of the late Mamard S. Robinson and Lucille Robinson (nee Smith). She passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Rolla, Mo., at the age of 54 years, 5 months and 2 days. Donna is survived by her husband Darrel Eads of the home in Cuba, Mo.; two sons John Knoll and Ginger and Ted DePriest of Illinois; two daughters, Donna Sue Basham and husband Jason of Cuba, Mo. and Sheila Webb and husband John Lyeria of Collinsville, Illinois; three sisters, Patricia Hipp and husband Leon of Heber Springs, Arkansas, Nancy Cole of Cedar Hills, Mo., Judy Black and husband Edward of Dittmer, Mo.; one brother, Roger Robinson and wife Nora of Leasburg, Mo.; mother-in-law, Bernice Eads of Cuba, Mo.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roger and Janelle Eads of Concord, North Carolina and Steve and Jane Eads of Cuba, Mo.; two grandchildren, Dale Langford and Matthew Klumpp; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Joan Margaret Fulgham Joan Margaret Fulgham nee Wrape of Cuba, Mo. was born on July 21, 1935 in St. Louis, Mo. to the union of John R. Wrape and Gertrude (Zander) Wrape and passed away on June 4, 2002 in St. Louis, Mo. at the age of 66 years, 10 months and 13 days. On August 11, 1954 Joan was united in marriage to Thomas Fulgham in St. Louis, Mo. One son, John, and tree daughters, Jodi, Judi and Janet were born to this union. Joan and Tom enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Joan was preceded in death by her parents. Joan and Tom lived in the Maryland Heights area for many years until they retired and moved to Indian Hills Lake Community. Joan was a member for many years of the Tuesday Morning Ladies Golf Association, Women's Club at the Lake, Pass Chairman of the Lake Community and the Roads Committee, worked at the Indian Hills Lake Office, did volunteer work with the Cuba Chamber of Commerce, taught religion and tutored reading at the Catholic School, started the Weight Watchers Group at Indian Hills Lake and was manager of the Galley Restaurant. Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her devoted husband Thomas Fulgham; son John (Marianne) Fulgham; three daughters Jodi (Mark) Livesay, Judi (Barry) Clark and Janet (Lynn) White; one brother John "Jack" (Barbara) Wrape; eight grandchildren, Stacey and Kelley Fulgham, Nicole and David Livesay, Sara and Steven Clark, Dillon and Ashley White; other relatives and many friends. Leona Maude Halbert Leona Maude Halbert nee Adams was born Saturday, May 9, 1914, at Steelville, Mo., a daughter of John Matthew Adams and Anna Susan Adams (nee Ray). She entered eternal rest Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the Stonecrest Healthcare, Viburnum, Mo., at the age of 88 years and 26 days. At Steelville, Mo., on October 30, 1930, Leona was united in marriage to Horace Nathan Halbert. Four sons (one born dead, Johnny Lee Halbert) and six daughters were born to this union. Horace preceded Leona in death, April 4, 1973, as did one daughter, Lucille Arnold, June 13, 1995, two brothers, Clarence Adams and Harry Adams, and four sisters, Vivian and husband Dewey Ransom, Gladys and husband Walter Summers, Edith and husband Clarence Isgriggs and Ethel and husband Roy Pinson. Two son-in-laws, Leonard Fudge and Charlie Smith, a daughter-in-law Brenda (Yount) Halbert, and three grandsons, Richard Leland Fudge, Robert Leroy Fudge and Russell Halbert, also preceded her in death. Arthur "Bill" McGraw Arthur "Bill" McGraw of Bourbon, Mo. passed away on Friday, June 7, 2002 at the age of 78 years. Mr. McGraw was born on May 8, 1924 in Pacific, Mo. to Charlie and Grace May (Gasperson) McGraw. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart. On February 18, 1945 "Bill" was united in marriage to Girlie M. Files in Maplewood, Mo. He moved with his family to the Bourbon and Sullivan area in 1960. During his adult years he primarily worked as an auto mechanic. "Bill" enjoyed farming, cutting wood, cooking, and baking. He also found pleasure in watching wrestling matches on TV. "Bill" was a member of the Disabled American Veterans organization. He will be remembered and cherished as an independent and outspoken man who was very generous. He is survived by one son, Butch McGraw and wife, Vicki, of Sullivan; four daughters, Sharon McGraw of Steelville, Mo., Kathryn Matejcek and husband, Larry, of Leasburg, Mo., Peggy O'Neal and husband, James, of Bourbon, and Mary Brake and husband, Ned, of Sullivan; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. McGraw was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter, Cecil, Herbert, and Tony McGraw, and one sister, Dorothy Mercer. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2002 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Jeffrey Duncan officiating. Interment with full military honors was in Reedville Cemetery. Visitation was from 4:30 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2002 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. If desired, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Roy Mullen Roy Mullen of Bourbon, Mo. was born on July 25, 1910 in Crawford County, Mo. to the union of Dennis P. Mullen and Lottie (Purvine) Mullen and passed away on June 4, 2002 at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 9 days at Sullivan, Mo. On October 17, 1934 he was united in marriage to Ecy Nancy Oliver at Steelville, Mo. They were happily married until Ecy preceded him in death on March 3, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Ed, Haskell and Earl Mullen and one sister, Geneva Hendrix. Roy was a farmer and long time resident of Crawford County and a member of the Missouri Cattlemen's Association. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Leasburg, Mo. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his brother Oliver Mullen; two sisters Virginia Wallis and Marie Nixon; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Roy was a devoted and loving husband, brother, uncle, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Roy Mullen was in state at the Eaton Funeral Home, Bourbon, Mo. where funeral services were held on Thursday at 11 a.m., June 6, 2002 with Rev. Tony Amato officiating. Interment was in the Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Mo. Memorials to the First Baptist Church, Leasburg, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. Earl L. Sites Earl L. Sites of Rolla passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at his home at age 94. He was born in Keysville, Mo., September 7, 1907 to Russell and Mary (Kallembah) Sites. In 1932 he married Elizabeth Heiss who preceded him in death on August 14, 1978. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three baby boys, baby sister Opal, two brothers, Delbert and Herman. He attended grade school in Keysville and graduated from high school in Steelville, Mo. He worked for T.V.A. in Tennessee and Kentucky as a concrete inspector before working for the U.S.G.S. as a Field Surveyor Engineer in Mid U.S. He retired from the U.S.G.S. office in Rolla after working 31 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #213 AF & AM, and received his 70 year as Master Mason certificate in April 2002, member of Eastern Star and White Shrine of Jerusalem. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Helen (Palmer) Sites, Rolla; two sisters, Pearl Sites, Steelville, and Helen Neely, St. Louis, one brother, Clarence Sites, Cuba. Five nieces: Linda Schepers and husband Jerry of North Carolina; Debbie Combs and husband Karl, Collensville, Illinois, Marlena Sites, Indianapolis, Indiana and Nancy Hughes and husband Henry, Denver, Colorado, and Elaine Taylor, Steelville. Two nephews: Mark Sites, Phoenix, Arizona and Charles Sites and wife Lela, Indianapolis, Indiana; three great nieces, and three great-nephews; two step-daughters, Phyllis Harris and husband Elmer, Rolla, Waunita Davidson of Kansas; one step-granddaughter Sheila Moyer and husband Ron, Allentown, Pennsylvania. Four step-grandsons, Warren Harris, Rolla, Duane Harris and wife Terri, Jefferson City, Kyle Davidson, of Kansas and Hugh Davidson, Denver, Colorado, and seven great-grandchildren.
