Chester Charles Brewer
Chester Charles Brewer of Cuba, Missouri was born on
August 9, 1930 in Cuba, Missouri to the union of Osmond and Fannie
Brewer (nee Carrell) and left from this life on Monday, June 5, 2006
in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 27 days.
Chester owned and operated the ABC Donut Shops in St.
Clair and Sullivan, Missouri until his retirement in 1988. He
enjoyed his family, horses and being around people. He could usually
be found socializing with his friends in the community. He was a
member of the Vikings in Bourbon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Chester
Lee Brewer and other relatives and friends.
Those who are left to mourn his passing are his
daughters, Denise (Darren) Walker and Diana (Dave) Peters; one
brother, Bernard Brewer; three sisters, Gertrude Mueller, Olga
Warren and Loretta Ross; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren,
nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, June 8, 2006 from 5-8 p.m.
at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was Friday, June 9, 2006 at 2 p.m. at
Britton Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry Pryor, officiating.
Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Marvin O'Neil Felden
Marvin O'Neil Felden, son of the late Frank George
Felden and Idis Pearl (Morris) Felden was born January 19, 1920 in
Greenbrair, Missouri and passed away May 31, 2006 in Warrensburg,
Missouri at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 12 days.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Henry on June 29,
1944 and to this union three children were born.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Alice
Felden of Stover, Missouri and Mary Ann Felden Poore and husband
Robert of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; sister, Frankie Jean Fuge of
Springfield, Missouri.
Three grandchildren, Desiree Brickey, Robin Slocum and
Donald Poore; six great grandchildren, Garry, Cody, Brandy, Paige,
Sydney and Samantha; special friend, Helen Leslie; a host of nieces
and nephews and extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Marvin II
and brother, Austin.
He spent his adult life as a member of the United States
Navy as a pilot. He served in World War II, the Korean War and the
Vietnam War, for which he received many medals and commendations. He
was also a legal officer in the Navy. He retired with the rank of
Commander. He was an Instructor Pilot for the Federal Aviation
Administration; he was Past Commander of the American Legion Post 99
of Salem, Missouri.
Funeral Mass for Marvin O'Neil Felden was held Monday,
June 5, 2006 at Sacred Heart Church, Salem, Missouri with Father Dan
Hirtz officiating and music provided by the Sacred Heart Choir.
Serving as pallbearers were Tony McGuirk, George
Bilbrey, Hershel Moser, Tyler Salyer, Don Adamick and Paul Dale.
Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery with full
military honors.
All arrangements were under the direction of the James &
Gahr Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
Pauline Elizabeth Farris
Pauline Elizabeth Farris of Cuba, Missouri was born
April 11, 1920 in Bourbon, Missouri to the union of Robert Lee
Baker, Sr. and Adelia Baker (nee Grote) and left from this life on
June 6, 2006 in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 1 month and
25 days.
Pauline was a homemaker. She loved spending time with
her family and enjoyed playing the organ and guitar, dancing,
singing, gardening and she was a wonderful cook.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband,
Richard "Ed" Farris; two brothers, Eugene Baker, Robert L. Baker,
Sr.; six sisters, Ethel Cimaglia, Gladys Claybaugh, Kate Spicer,
Pearl Crowder, Irene Howerton and Grace Painter; one great
granddaughter, Whitney Campbell.
Those who are left to mourn her passing are her son,
David (Barbara) Farris; four daughters, Edwina (James) Britton,
Rosemary (Luther) Basham, Laverna (Don) Davis and Ava Waits; one
sister, Bobbie Mercer; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and
a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, June 9, 2006 from 5-8 p.m.
at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 10 a.m.
at Britton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Mahurin officiating.
Interment was in the Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri.
Charles Lester Schratz, Sr.
Charles Lester Schratz, Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born
November 5, 1920 in Naylor, Missouri to the union of August John &
Ida Mae Schratz (nee McKinney) and left from this life on June 6,
2006 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 1 day.
He retired as a Machinist from Matco Machine Shop in
1981. He also had previously worked for Frisco Railroad.
Charlie was a member of Cuba United Methodist Church,
Cuba Senior Center where he had served on the Board of Directors,
Indian Hills Men's Club (Past President), delivered Meals On Wheels,
he enjoyed fishing and was known in the community as the "Town
Comedian" or better known as "Chucklin Charlie."
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife,
Florine Schratz (nee Copeland); two brothers, Jewell and Marvin
Schratz; two sisters, Mary Louise Barnett and Virginia Garrett.
Those who are left to mourn his passing are his wife,
Dorothy "Dottie" Mahoney-Schratz; son, Charles L. Schratz, Jr.;
three daughters, Sue (the late Mike) Benson, Judy (Jack) Goedeke and
Jacque (Jack) Achurch; one sister, Margie Birch; 10 grandchildren;
18 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, June 8, 2006 from 4-8 p.m.
at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri
Funeral service was Friday, June 9, 2006 at 10 a.m. at
Cuba United Methodist Church, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Paul Lathum,
officiating.
Interment Friday at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park,
Affton, Missouri.
Harlin Pershing Scott
Harlin Pershing Scott was born to Mary D. and Luther W.
Scott on June 24, 1913 at Goodwater, Missouri.
Harlin was married to Leava Cleo Gilliam Scott for 62
years.
During their life they resided in Goodwater, Missouri,
St. Louis, Missouri and the Steelville, Missouri area the last 51
years.
Harlin retired from Missouri Department of
Transportation in 1975 where he made many friends. He was a hard
worker on his job, on his farm or any endeavor he undertook. Being a
quiet man who loved his home and family, he was also a good provider
and enjoyed serving up a bountiful table to all who happened to drop
by.
He had many talents. One remarkable trait was the
ability to toss a softball, skip a rock or write with either hand,
equally.
He was a handsome young man who drove a spotless model A
Ford on his way to woo the love of his life, Leava Cleo Gilliam.
They were married November 20, 1942 in Ironton, Missouri. To this
union was born one son, Lovell P. Scott, who presently resides in
Moscow Mills, Missouri.
Also residing in Moscow Mills is his beloved grandson,
James Pershing Scott; great grandson, Travis Scott; loving
granddaughter, Kathy Rosler and husband Joe, who live in St.
Charles, Missouri; and two sisters-in-law, Geneva Scott of Viburnum,
Missouri and Eula Ogle of Sullivan, Missouri.
He will be affectionately remembered by a host of
nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters in Christ. He and Cleo
were members of the Assembly of God Church in Steelville, Missouri.
He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Steelville, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cleo;
brothers, Herbert and wife Bessie, Hershell, and Lawrence and wife
Velma Scott; and sister, Grace Scott Stow.
Funeral services for Harlin Scott were held Friday, June
9, 2006 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Beers
officiating. Special music of "How Great Thou Art" was sung by Rev.
Thomas Slovensky with Jerry Beers accompanying. Music of "Beulah
Land" was sung by Jerry Beers and Tom Slovensky.
Committal prayers and burial were in the Steelville
Cemetery.
All arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
