Lenard M. Anderson
Lenard M. Anderson, age 73, and a resident of Gulfport,
Mississippi, died Thursday, June 16, 2005 in Gulfport.
Mr. Anderson was a native of Irondale, Missouri and a
resident of Gulfport for the past 12 years. He served 23 years in
the U.S. Air Force, including service during Korea and Vietnam and
was an aircraft electrician instructor.
Mr. Anderson, a beloved husband, loved to travel and to
spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was a Protestant.
Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by two brothers, Don
Anderson and Lesley Anderson and a sister, Venita Byers.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lois Jean
Anderson of Gulfport, Mississippi; sons, Kenneth Anderson and wife
Susan of Panama City, Florida, Kevin Anderson of St. Louis,
Missouri, Jim Anderson and wife Melissa of Anchorage, Alaska and
Jeff Anderson and wife Sue of Flemington, Missouri.
A sister, Lorine Teter of St. Louis, Missouri; six
grandchildren, Angela Anderson, Alexandra Anderson, Sarah Anderson,
Amy Jean Anderson, Kasey Anderson and Jacob Anderson.
Visitation was at the Riemann Funeral Home, Gulfport,
Mississippi, on Monday, June 20, 2005 from 8 a.m. until the service
at 9 a.m.
Burial was at 10 a.m. in the National Cemetery in
Biloxi, Mississippi.
Erma Hansel
Erma E. Hansel, nee Dunlap, of Farmington, Missouri,
formerly of Cuba, Missouri, was born in Iron County, Missouri on
Thursday, November 14, 1907 to William Dunlap and Julie Etta Bennett
Dunlap. She passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the age of 97
years and 7 months.
Erma was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of
Cuba where she loved serving her Lord. She enjoyed working in her
garden and also growing flowers. Erma spent many hours playing the
piano and especially the harmonica. She was a loving wife and
caretaker. God never gave Erma any children.
Those who preceded her in death were her parents; her
husbands, Clyde Farrell, Curtis Harmon, Bert Dewar and Jim Hansel.
Three brothers, Espy, Elvy and Clarence Dunlap. Three sisters, Eura
Lee Record, Clara Dewar and Lola Thomas.
She is survived by her nephew Murphy Thomas and wife
Mary of Farmington, Missouri; nieces, Hazel Becker and husband Floyd
of Farmington, Missouri, Shirley Ott and husband Bill of St. Louis,
Missouri and Nelda Hoeft of Jefferson City, Missouri; cousins, other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, June 16, 2005 from 9-11 a.m. at
the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral services were Thursday, June 16, 2005 at 11 a.m.
at the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Brother James Self
officiating.
Music selections were, "I Saw the Light" and "Precious
Memories," sung by Ella Jo Greenwalt and Lena Medley.
Interment was in the Czar Cemetery, Viburnum, Missouri
with pallbearers Floyd Becker, Murphy Thomas, Bill Ott, Ben Randall,
Elmer Gregory and William Cremer.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson
Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Glen Cordell Pitts
Glen Cordell Pitts was born Saturday, May 28, 1921, at
Cook Station, Missouri, a son of the late Frank Scott Pitts and
Ruthe Mae Pitts (nee Earney).
He entered eternal rest Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at the
Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the age
of 84 years and 17 days.
January 28, 1941, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Glen was
inducted into the United States Army. He saw combat duty in the
Battle of Normandy in France and was wounded, for which he received
a Purple Heart, with one Bronze service Star. He was also awarded
the EAME Ribbon and the ADSM Ribbon and a Good Conduct Ribbon. He
received an Honorable Discharge, July 6, 1945 at Hospital Center,
Camp Carson, Colorado.
On March 9, 1945, at Crown Point, Indiana, Glen was
united in marriage to Kathryn J. Zimmerman. She preceded him in
death, January 15, 1988. He married Judy Hogan, October 2, 1991, at
Cook Station, Missouri. They have been companions for fourteen
years.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, Glen was
preceded in death by three brothers, Afton "John" Pitts and wife
Delores, Cecil Pitts and James Pitts; his mother-in-law and
father-in-law, Carac and Margaret Hogan.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his
devoted companion, Judy Hogan Pitts of the home in Cook Station,
Missouri. Four brothers, Pershing Pitts of Kentucky, Walter Pitts
and wife Delores, Monroe Pitts and wife Sherry, Robert Pitts and
wife Alberta all of Cook Station, Missouri. Four sisters, Florence
Hicks of Steelville, Missouri, Shirley and husband Lawrence Cothran
of Cook Station, Missouri, Kordean Moore and Stella Clay both of
Hammond, Indiana and sister-in-law Helen (Mrs. Cecil) Pitts of
Sterling Illinois.
Also remaining are his second family, step children,
Carac and Gregory Seay, Velvette Seay all of St. Roberts, Nichlos
Hart of Kansas City, Missouri, Stevee and Bill Seay of Salem,
Missouri, Dean Hart of Virginia, Sherry Seay of Seattle, Washington;
step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and two great great
grandsons; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and
many friends. They all loved him and he loved them. Glen, we will
always love and miss you.
Glen Cordell Pitts lay in state 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June
16, 2005, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2005, in the
Britton Chapel with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating.
Committal prayers and interment was in Wesco Cemetery,
Wesco, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Anderson, Doug
Evrard, Ross Hicks, Allan Pitts, Monti Pitts and Burt Reed.
Full military honors were given graveside with Harry
Eaton as bugler and the Missouri Eastern Area Honors team conducting
the service.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
