Domenic Joseph Ramori
Domenic Joseph Ramori of Cuba, Missouri was born on
Friday, December 14, 1917 in Rosati, Missouri to the union of Hector
Peter Ramori and Argentina Zetta Vitali Ramori. He passed away in
Rolla, Missouri on Friday, June 16, 2006 at the age of 88 years, 6
months and 2 days.
On February 20, 1941 Domenic was united in marriage to
Daphna E. Luck and to this union two children were born, Phyllis J.
Ramori and Hector G. Ramori.
In 1947, Domenic and his family moved from Rosati to
Cuba where they have made their home. He was proud of his Italian
heritage and loved to tell stories of his childhood especially all
the fun they had while growing up. They raised cows, 12 acres of
grapes and four acres of strawberries. He enjoyed going back to
Rosati to visit relatives, to attend family and church reunions in
order to remain close to the small Italian community that he loved
so much.
He started his own business in Cuba delivering lime and
rock phosphate to area farmers to fertilize their fields. After
several years, he sold the business to Jack Edgar and Willard West.
He then went to work in construction until he retired. He was a
member of the Teamster local #864 since 1951, Knights of Columbus
since 1937 and Elks Lodge #15 in Washington since 1967. He served as
a Cuba alderman for four years in Ward I from 1968-71. He also liked
to hunt with his grandsons.
He was a caring and compassionate man. Daphna and he
would spend a lot of time visiting friends and family members who
were confined to hospitals and nursing homes. As he became
incapacitated the past few years, one of the things he missed the
most was to attend Mass on a regular basis. He was a very devout
Catholic, saying his rosary several times a day and also after
retiring to bed every night.
He was a very loving, affectionate husband and father
who will be sadly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Inez
Paulsell, Nellie Piazza, Katie Piazza, Ernestine Bond, Julia Paule
and brother, Hector P. Ramori.
Those who are left to mourn his passing are his wife,
Daphna Ramori; children, Phyllis Jean Ramori and Hector G. Ramori
and wife Billie, all of Cuba, Missouri; sister, Louise Stevens Stark
of West Palm Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Jeff Ramori and wife
Mara of Steelville, Missouri and Jim Ramori of Cuba, Missouri.
Great grandchildren, Nicholas, Kristen and Dalton
Ramori; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lillian Ramori, John and Ada
Schwent, all of Cuba, Missouri; Jewel Luck, Pearl "Jack" Woods, all
of Steelville, Missouri, Mary "Short" Gregory of St. Louis, Missouri
and Pat Luck of Rolla, Missouri; cousins, other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was Monday, June 19, 2006 from 5-9 p.m. at
the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Mass was at the Holy Cross Catholic Church,
Cuba, Missouri on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 10 a.m. with Father
James Finder officiating.
