MO Local Obituaries for the Week of June 22, 2016 Esther Virginia Dace Esther Virginia Dace of Sullivan, Missouri was born at Springfield, Illinois on December 28, 1920 to Jacob Franklin and Esther (Tinsley) Foster and passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at the age of 95 years, 5 months and 12 days. Virginia, as she was known by her family and friends, was raised at nearby Chatham and graduated from Springfield High School. On August 1, 1951 she married Ethan Monroe Dace at Springfield, Missouri and to this marriage three sons were born. Virginia honorably served her country during WWII with the U.S. Navy attaining the rank of Yeoman Third Class. She and her husband came to live in the Bourbon, Missouri area around 1990 and eventually moved to Sullivan, Missouri. She was active at the Bourbon Senior Center before coming to Sullivan, Missouri and enjoyed traveling and crocheting. Virginia was a dedicated homemaker and was like a grandmother to many individuals in the area. She was a member of the Sullivan Christian Church and participated in the Senior Ambassadors group. While living in Springfield, Virginia taught Sunday school many years at the Southside Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Esther Foster; husband, Ethan in 2010; son, Michael; and two brothers, Jimmy and Billy Foster. She is survived by two sons, Mark Dace and wife Peggy of Sullivan and Tracy Dace of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Mindy Thompson, Micah Dace, Mallori Peregoy and Logan Dace; one step-granddaughter, Ashlea Monsibais; seven great grandchildren, Hayden Thompson, Trevor Thompson, Wyatt Peregoy, Lauren Peregoy, Ethan Dace, Bradley Peregoy and Parker Thompson; three step-great grandchildren, Madison, Brady and Aiden Monsibais; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home Southside Chapel in Sullivan, Missouri. Funeral services were conducted 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from the Eaton Funeral Home Southside Chapel in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Willard Love officiating. Full military honors were bestowed following the funeral service. Interment was in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Emil Paul Falloon Emil Paul Falloon of Bourbon, Missouri was born at Sullivan, Missouri on April 7, 1931 to Clarence and Bessie (Reeves) Falloon and passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the age of 85 years. Paul, as he was known by his family and friends, honorably served his country with the U.S. Navy and was deployed on the USS Monterey (CVL-26). Paul was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and attained the rank of Ensign 3rd Class. After his discharge from the service Paul was employed at the St. Louis Car Company and built trollies, street cars and other types of cars for rapid transit systems. He enjoyed sports especially softball and basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Bessie Falloon; his wife, Theresa; and one brother, Clarence Falloon. He is survived by a son, Douglas Paul Falloon and wife Frieda Michelle of Pacific, Missouri; two daughters, Pamela Kay Falloon and Terri Lynn Falloon; one step-daughter, Veronica Meyers and husband Dana; two sisters, Marie Miller and Lula Yarbrough; two grandsons, Brian and Kevin Meyers; other relatives and friends. Denver Ervin Lawrence Denver Ervin Lawrence of Sullivan, Missouri was born on November 8, 1937 to Ervin and Ruth (Merten) Lawrence at Labadie, Missouri and passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the age of 78 years. He lived the majority of his life with his grandmother in Sullivan, Missouri. He honorably served his country in the United States Army Air Corps from January 26, 1961 to January 25, 1963. He was employed for most of his working years first by McDonald Douglas Aircraft and later for Boeing. His last employment was for Emerson Electric where he worked on Army Personal Carriers and later retired from there. Denver enjoyed fishing and especially fox hunting. His hounds won State Championships and "Blitz and Rebel" were his favorite dogs.. He was a life-time member of the VFW Russell Schmidt Post of Sullivan ,Missouri and attended the Assembly of God Church in Bourbon, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Ruth Lawrence; and a sister; Laura Mae Jones. He is survived by one son, Tony Lawrence of Bourbon, Missouri; Four daughters, Jody Lawrence of Sullivan, Missouri, Leslie Wells and husband Roger of St. Clair, Missouri, Tracey Beckett and husband Tim of Bourbon, Missouri and Amy Martin of Bourbon, Missouri; two brothers, Paul Lawrence and wife Jeanette of Sullivan, Missouri, Jim Lawrence and wife Betty of Union, Missouri; half-brother, Jerry Hagard of Berger, Missouri; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Elasco Mathews Elasco Mathews of Bourbon, Missouri was born at Stanton, Missouri on July 26, 1927 to Samuel Louis and Docia Viola (Richardson) Mathews and passed away on Monday June 13, 2016 at the age of 88 years. He was raised in the Bourbon, Missouri area and worked on the family farm. Elasco honorably served his country during the Korean War as a Combat Engineer, clearing mine fields for allied troops and heavy equipment. He attained the rank of Sergeant with Company "D", 578th Engineering Corps, "C" Battalion with the 40th Division. Elasco received the Occupation Medal of Japan, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the United Nations Service Medal. After his discharge he returned to the Bourbon area where he was a heavy equipment operator along with working his farm, raising cattle and hogs. He retired from the construction trade in 1989 and from farming in 2004. On May 15, 1954 he married June Marie Woodruff at Stanton, Missouri and to this marriage a daughter was born. Elasco accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Stanton in 1956 where he later became a Deacon. He was a long-time devoted member of Crossroads Baptist Church of Leasburg, Missouri where he was also a Deacon as well as Sunday School Superintendent. Elasco loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Docia Mathews; a brother, Guy Mathews; and three sisters, Mabel Randelman, Birdie Sappington and Ollie Sanders. He is survived by his wife, June of the family home; one daughter, Viola Huitt and husband Jim of Bourbon, Missouri; two grandsons, J.D. Patterson of Steelville, Missouri was born in Kenton, Tennessee on Thursday, January 27, 1938 to Dayton H. and Annie (Bishop) Patterson and passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 16 days. Bobby married Lula Patterson on March 23, 2015 in Steelville, Missouri. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite Masonic organization, International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) in St. Louis, Missouri and Steelville Country Club. He was a former Steelville Alderman and in that capacity was instrumental in getting both the helipad and the stop light in Steelville. He enjoyed 4-wheeler rides and spending time at the rivers and lakes. He loved his dog, Mickey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dayton and Annie Patterson; brother, Thomas (Norma) Patterson; sister, Martha (Benny) Bowman; brother-in-law, Joe (Pat) Burke; and sisters-in-law, Kate (Junior) Glore and Glenda Hance. Melvin Ott Reed Melvin Ott Reed of Potosi, Missouri was born on October 5, 1929 in Bismarck, Missouri to Ott and Opal (Miller) Reed and passed away on June 7, 2016 at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 2 days. On November 10, 1945, Melvin married Mildred (Eye) Reed. Together they shared 68 years. Melvin served in the United States Army from June 21, 1950 to October 9, 1951. During his time in service, Melvin received the Meritorious Unit Commendations Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ott and Opal Reed; wife, Mildred Reed on November 23, 2013; an infant sister; sister, Anna Bell Reed; brother, Elmer Reed; brothers-in-law, Larry Glore and Donald Franklin; and sisters-in-law, Wilma Lee Reed and Norma Lee Reed. Interment and final prayers were held at the White Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors consisting of Gun Salute, Taps, flag folding and presentation by the United States Army, the local VFW Post 6996 and Patriot Guard.
