Harold “Budd” Cardiff
Harold ‘Budd’ Cardiff of Cuba, Missouri was born on Sunday,
December 25, 1932 and passed away in his home on Friday, June 12, 2009
at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 18 days.
Budd served his country honorably in the United States Army Signal Corps
and also, participated in Operation Castle on Bikini Island in the South
Pacific, where tests of the first hydrogen bombs occurred.
He married Jeanette Matus on November 15, 1958 in Berwyn, Illinois and to
this union two children were born.
Budd spent several years as a premier model builder. Many of his models can
be found on model railroads and in museums throughout the country. He
operated alongside his brothers, the Cardiff Brothers Trains Company in
Geneva, Illinois. He worked for KXMO Cuba Radio station for six years ending
his program by signing off Uncle Budd. He enjoyed making people laugh and
was a great punster.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Mark Cardiff.
He is survived by his daughter, Betsy (Keith) Waxberg of St. Louis, Missouri;
long-time friend and soul mate, Jeanette Cardiff of Cuba, Missouri; brothers,
Don Cardiff of Albion, Illinois and Dave (Debra) Cardiff of Vancouver,
Washington; sister, Margaret (Elmo) Smyth of Stoughton, Wisconsin;
sister-in-law, Marion Laczynski of Antioch, Illinois; two grandchildren,
Becca and Lindsey; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, June 16, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. with funeral service at
10 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with
Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating.

Elmer E. Elrod
Elmer E. Elrod, 78, of Rolla, Missouri was born January 18, 1922 in Maries
County, Missouri, near Freeburg, Missouri to William and Catherine Franklin
Elrod and passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009 at St. Clare Medical Center in
Fenton, Missouri.
He grew up around the Belle and High Gate, Missouri area with his two
brothers and sisters. After serving in the Army during World War II, he
returned home to Missouri and worked as a schoolteacher. He later married
Verna Mae Leonard of High Gate, Missouri.
He worked with his wife as real estate owners/brokers for United Country Real
Estate, selling rural properties in the mid-Missouri area for over 30 years.
He had a passion for ranching. He enjoyed raising beef cattle, hunting,
riding his John Deere tractor, working on the farm and being outdoors
whenever he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Catherine Elrod; brother,
Clyde Elrod; sisters, Imogene Keeney and Opal Keeney.
He is survived by his wife, Verna; three children, Gary Elrod and wife Cora
of Kirksville, Missouri, Dirk Elrod of Vichy, Missouri and Kirk Elrod and
wife Debbie of Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Hannah Elrod of
Gilbert, Arizona, Ben Elrod and Kate Elrod of Kirksville, Missouri, Natalie
Elrod of Jefferson, City, Missouri, Cassidy Elrod and Hillary Elrod of Kansas
City, Missouri; brother, Lawrence Elrod and wife Marlene of Cuba, Missouri.
Visitation was Sunday, June 21, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Sassmann’s Funeral Home
in Belle, Missouri.
Funeral service was Monday, June 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist
Church of Rolla, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Sassmann’s Funeral Home, Belle,
Missouri.
Helen A. Harding
Helen A. Harding of Florissant, Missouri formerly of Crawford County was
born Saturday, December 20, 1919 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of
Herman L. and Lida (nee Lowry) Hall and passed away Monday, June 15, 2009
at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 26 days.
Helen was united in marriage to Addison B. Harding on June 18, 1938 at
St. Louis, Missouri and to this union five children were born.
Helen retired from North Dale Market in Spanish Lake, Missouri after many
years of dedicated service. After retiring she moved to Crawford County,
Missouri were she was a member of the Prairie Extension Club and Trinity
Chapel. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and reading, but what she
loved and enjoyed most was spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Lida Hall; one brother,
Bud Hall; two sisters, Marie Dixon and Kitty Horn; one grandson, Jeffrey
Addison Harding; other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her children, Donald and wife Norma Jean Harding of
Owensville, Missouri, David Harding of the state of Alabama, Salle Winkler
of Florissant, Missouri, Linda and husband Dub Prince of New Madrid, Missouri
and Barbara and husband John Standeford of Hazelwood, Missouri; two brothers,
Shorty Hall of Parma, Idaho and Jerry Hall of the state of Washington; one
sister, Rose Keller of the state of Nevada; 11 grandchildren, numerous great
grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 17, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Britton Funeral
Home of Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Gary Mace officiating. Special music
“In the Garden” and “Amazing Grace” were sung by Don Harding.
Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

William J. Higginbotham
William J. Higginbotham was born January 16, 1937, in Newark, New Jersey,
to William and Elizabeth (Millen) Higginbotham and passed away May 29, 2009,
in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 72.
William was united in marriage to Judith (Laidig) Higginbotham on
January 15, 1977.
He was a member of the Central Community Church of God and was active on the
board of trustees; he was also a member of the Rolla Moose Lodge. He loved
all types of outdoor activities with friends and family, such as baseball,
football, and whiffle ball. He also bowled in two leagues.
He retired in 1981 from butchering but often helped out during deer season.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elizabeth Higginbotham;
brother, Frank Higginbotham and sister, Nancy Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Laidig Higginbotham of Rolla, Missouri;
children, Tom Higginbotham of Seaford, Delaware, Patrick Higginbotham and
wife Carol of Millsboro, Delaware, John Higginbotham of Neptune City, New
Jersey, JoAnne Enlow of Rolla, Missouri, Ryan Moats and wife Kathleen of
Omaha, Nebraska, Dave Moats and wife Kathryn of Cave Springs, Arkansas, Mike
Moats and wife Michele of Salt Lake City, Utah and Joseph Higginbotham and
wife Sarah of St. James, Missouri; brother, John Yowpa and wife Jean of
Piscataway, New Jersey; sister, Marybeth Heaney and husband Frank of North
Plainfield, New Jersey; sister-in-law, Rosemarie Higginbotham of Rolla,
Missouri; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; other relatives and
friends.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at the Central
Community Church of God in Rolla, Missouri with Pastor Dan Phillips
officiating.

Missouri.
Bonnie J. Jordan
Bonnie J. Jordan of Pevely, Missouri, was born on April 24, 1954 in
Sullivan, Missouri to Franklin and Mildred (nee Jaeger) Blanton and passed
away Monday, June 15, 2009 at the age of 55 years.
She spent the majority of her life in Crawford County and was self-employed
as co-owner of a cleaning business.
She enjoyed embroidering for her family and friends. She never met a
stranger and was one to put others needs before her own.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas of the family home; one son, T.J.
Jordan and wife Jessy of Bloomsdale, Missouri; one daughter, Kelly M.
Chambers and husband Edward of Festus, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kassie
and Brandon Chambers, Tara and Lexy Jordan; three brothers, Franklin “Buck”
Blanton of Leasburg, Missouri, Frank Blanton and wife Pat of Sullivan,
Missouri, John Blanton and wife Karol of Bourbon, Missouri; three sisters,
Louise Blackwell and husband Bill of Gerald, Missouri, Kathy Shoemaker and
husband Stanley of Owensville, Missouri and Joan King and husband Jerry of
Bourbon, Missouri; step-sisters, Carol Churovich and husband Danny of Granite
City, Illinois, Sue Batson of Washington, Missouri, Cathy Manues of Belle,

Baptist Church of Bourbon with Pastor Roy Kaylor officiating.

Earl J. Kallmbah
Earl J. Kallmbah was born January 23, 1924, in Keysville, Missouri to Morris
Kallmbah and Ore Lee, nee Holland, Kallmbah and passed away Friday,
June 5, 2009, at the age of 85 years.
He received his education from the Steelville School District, and served
his country in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Ore Lee Kallmbah; two
brothers, Carl and Vernon Kallmbah; one sister, Marie Hinch; one
brother-in-law, Lindell Hinch; and one sister-in-law, Eleanor Kallmbah.
He is survived by three brothers, Kenneth Kallmbah and wife Nancy of
St. Louis, Missouri, Orville Kallmbah of Pacific, Missouri and Louis
Kallmbah and wife Mary of Florissant, Missouri; one sister, Evelyn McKinney
and husband Ben of St. Charles, Missouri; special friend, Ruthie Draves of
Pacific, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Nieburg-Vitt, Thiebes
Funeral Home in Pacific, Missouri, with the Rev. Earlwood Towne officiating.
Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
Reverend Donald A. Lunsford
Reverend Donald A. Lunsford of Boss, Missouri, passed away June 12, 2009
at the age of 94 years.
He is survived by children, Rev. Donald Lunsford and wife Beverly of Pinellas
Park, Florida, Rev. Larry D. Lunsford and wife Kimberly of Metropolis,
Illinois, David J. Lunsford and wife Karen of O’Fallon, Missouri and Cheryl
Watson and husband Robert of Palm Harbor, Florida; eight grandchildren;
nine great grandchildren; brothers, Ray Lunsford and wife Ann and Norman
Lunsford, all of Steelville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, June 18, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at the Salem Chapel of
the James & Gahr Mortuary.
Funeral service was Friday, June 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Boss Assembly
of God Church, Boss, Missouri.
Interment was in the Boss Cemetery, Boss, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary, Salem,
Missouri.
Joyce Ann McGowan
Joyce Ann McGowan of Sullivan, Missouri, was born April 2, 1938, to James L.
and Clara M. Sohn Whitworth at St. Clair, Missouri and passed away on Sunday,
June 14, 2009 at the age of 71 years.
On July 28, 1962, she was united in marriage to John McGowan who preceded her
in death on December 7, 1983. She later married George Salmon on
June 17, 1984. Although they later divorced, Joyce continued to be a loving
caregiver to George.
She was a member of TOPS, where she had many friends. She was especially
close to her sister, Birdie, who was her very best friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James L. and Clara M. Whitworth;
husband, John McGowan; two brothers, Arthur and Luther Whitworth,
sister-in-law, Mabel Whitworth, and nephew, Bo Eldridge.
She is survived by her sister, Birdie Eldridge of Sullivan; nephews, Paul
Eldridge, Tim and Mike Whiteworth; nieces, Brenda Koenemann, Ann Boyer,
Sher Hardy, Peggy Love, Patty Pinson, Laurie Eldridge, and Carol Carter;
and great nephews, Michael Hardy, C.J. and Dustin Love, James Boyer, Bub
Eldridge, Matt and Josh Whitworth, great nieces, Scarlett Windele, Phillina
Jarvis, Kendra Todd, Sydnie Eldridge, and Tara Wilson; special friend,
George Salmon; other relatives and friends.
Services were conducted at noon on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Chapel
of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Harold Harrison
officiating.
Interment in the Midlawn Memorial Gardens.

Missouri.
Richard John McGuire Jr.
Richard John McGuire Jr., infant son of Richard “Rick” and Jennifer Erwin
McGuire of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009.
He is survived by his parents, John and Jennifer McGuire; grandparents,
James and JoAnn McGuire of Galena, Missouri and Judy Erwin of Cuba, Missouri
and the late Jack Erwin; uncles and aunts, James and Jeanne McGuire of
Jefferson City, Missouri and Sandy and Perry Petrillo of Fenton, Missouri.
Private graveside services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009 at
Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with Father David Cox officiating.
All arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
Helen J. Pennock
Helen J. Pennock of Bourbon, Missouri, was born August 3, 1924 to Frank L.
and Minnie L. (Ratliff) Barnhart at Bourbon, Missouri, and passed away on
Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the age of 84 years.
On December 24, 1947 Helen was united in marriage to Eugene F. Pennock and
three daughters were born to their union.
Helen and Eugene owned a cab company and a restaurant in Bourbon for many
years. Later Helen was employed by Paramount Cap Factory. She was a wonderful
mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. For many
years, she was a caregiver to her disabled grandson. She was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Bourbon, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Minnie Barnhart; her
husband, Eugene; stepson, Stanley Pennock, and two nephews, Edward and Wayne.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Williams and husband Dean of Cuba,
Missouri, Betty Walbrecht and Wanda Summers of Bourbon, Missouri; six
grandchildren, Allen Summers, Becky Meier and husband Steve, Michelle Yocom
and husband Ben, Billy Walbrecht and wife Amy, Melissa Wright and husband
Ardel and Mandy Storz and husband Lester; nine great grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 from the Eaton
Funeral Home Bourbon Chapel with Pastor Ted Hurley officiating.
Interment followed in Gerth Cemetery.

Sullivan, Missouri.
Chief Warrant Officer 2, Rick Richardson Jr. USMC
Chief Warrant Officer 2, Rick Richardson Jr., USMC, was born at Bethesda,
Maryland on February 16, 1976 to Angelia Robin Orick Hartung and Rick
Richardson Sr. and passed away in the line of duty in Afghanistan on
Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the age of 33 years, 3 months and 24 days.
In September 1976 the family made their home in the Bourbon, Missouri area.
During his eighth grade year, he moved to the Sullivan, Missouri area. He
graduated from Sullivan High School in 1994.
He excelled in football while at Sullivan and later attended Lindenwood
University, playing football on an Athletic Scholarship.
After a year at Lindenwoord, he entered the US Marine Corp. His deployments
included two tours of duty to Okinawa, one to Africa, one to Pakistan, three
to Iraq and one tour to Afghanistan.
On June 21, 1997 he married Jennifer Payne and to this union one son was born.
He was fond of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was family
oriented. He was outgoing and could at times be a jokester. He was always the
chief griller at family barbecues and never knew a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mary Richardson and
Herb Orick; father-in-law, Herman Payne.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; one son, Cole Alexander Richardson of
the family home; father, Rick Richardson Sr. and wife Linda of Sullivan,
Missouri; mother, Angelia Robin Hartung and husband Ernest of Bourbon,
Missouri; five sisters, Becky Jean Barnard of Sullivan, Missouri, Amanda
Denise Graddy and husband Andrew of Bourbon, Missouri, Miryha June Tackett
and husband Matt of Bourbon, Missouri, Ashley Caroline Richardson of
Sullivan, Missouri and Carissa Marie Richardson of Sullivan, Missouri;
grandparents, Jean Orick of Bourbon, Missouri, Richard and Ricki
Shafferkoetter of Sullivan, Missouri, Bob and Mary Elder of Long Beach,
Mississippi and Nell Kriegel of Sullivan, Missouri; mother-in-law, Pauline

Theater of the Sullivan High School, Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009 from the
Performing Arts Theater with Pastor Jeff Bent officiating.
Interment with full military honors were in the Cave Spring Cemetery, rural
Sullivan, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the US Marine Corp and directed by the
Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Pearl Walls
Pearl Elizabeth (Adams) Walls of St. James, Missouri was born on
June 14, 1931 to Lemuel Anderson and Emma Della (Bailey) Adams and passed
away Tuesday, June 16, 2009 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 78 years
and 2 days.
Pearl was united in marriage to Claude Harold Walls on January 8, 1958 and
to this union five children were born. Pearl was a member of the St. James
First Church of God. She loved to travel, some of her favorite places were
Disney World, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park and visiting with
daughter Mary and her family in Florida.
Pearl loved to cook for family and friends. Before her husband passed away
their Saturday nights were spent close to the radio or television listening
to bluegrass music. After Claude passed away on July 21, 1998, Pearl
continued to enjoy her bluegrass shows.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lemuel and Emma Adams; husband,
Claude; brothers, William Herbert and Robert Lemuel Adams; sister, Christina
Faye Finley; son, Charles Walls; son-in-law, James Frederick Mitchell;
grandson, Charles Robert Holt; great grandson, Dominic Jacob Walls.
She is survived by her children, Curtis Adams of St. James, Missouri, Mary
Lane and husband Rodney of Avon Park, Florida, Eunice Mitchell of St. James,
Missouri, Brenda Oliver and husband Jim of St. James, Missouri, Claude
“Harold” Walls and wife Cindy of Rolla, Missouri; brothers, Squire Adams
of O’Fallon, Illinois and Charles Adams of West Plains, Missouri; sister,
Lenore Barnes of St. James, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 19 great
grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 19, 2009 in the St. James Chapel of
the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor Terry Robinson officiating.
Interment in the Miles Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary of
St. James, Missouri.
