MO Local Obituaries for the Week of June 24, 2015 Voris Samuel Auxier Voris Samuel Auxier of St. James, Missouri was born on August 17, 1921 in Toledeo, Illinois to Samuel Enoch and Lydia Dolly Dyer Auxier and passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the age of 93 years and 10 months. He married Anna Laurine on November 13, 1942 in Hannibal, Missouri. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army and Air Force. He flew 33 missions as a tailgunner over Germany during that time. Over the years, he had tried his hand at many different jobs, until he mastered one. He started his own plastering and contracting business. Since then he has shared his knowledge of the trade with his sons and grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Lydia Auxier; three brothers, Elmer, Omer J. and Denver J. Auxier; sister, Laura Olive Jones; daughters-in-law, Rebecca Auxier and Lucy Auxier; son-in-law, Stuart D. Wilson; and one grandchild, Marie D. Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Anna Laurine Auxier; five sons, Samuel Joseph Auxier and wife Vera Jean of St. James, Missouri, William Enick Auxier (Judy Boggs) of St. James, Missouri, Joseph Henry Auxier and wife Margaret Mary of Greenville, Michigan, Jack Neuman Auxier of St. James, Missouri and Thomas Steven Auxier (Kimberly Hill) of Cuba, Missouri; two daughters, Judith Ann Wilson of St. James, Missouri and Diane Lee Borscha of Vienna, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held on Friday, June 19, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Dan Copeland officiating. Pallbearers were Sammy Auxier, Joey Auxier; Steven Wilson, Donald Borscha, Jacob Auxier, Matthew Auxier, Brian Auxier, Kyle Auxier, Luke Auxier and Tommy Auxier. Wanda Faye Hodges Wanda Faye Hodges of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of St. Clair, Missouri, was born to Homer A. and Ava K. (Kaiser) Stevens on May 18, 1938 in Calcord, Oklahoma and passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the age of 77 years. Wanda worked for Pyramid Home Care for several years. She enjoyed going to yard sales, watching horror movies on TV and being on the go at all times. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ava Stevens; husband, Leonard Hodges; one son, Lancer Hodges; and one grandson, Brian Lorenz. She is survived by her five children, Linda McKinney Morley, Missouri, Kathy and husband Tony Coleman of Leasburg, Missouri, Tina and husband Johnny Patterson of Sullivan, Missouri, Steve and wife Sandra Hodges of Cuba, Missouri and Randy Hodges of Cuba, Missouri; one sister, Virta Roskowske of St. James, Missouri; two brothers, Wayne and wife Gwen Stevens of Lonedell, Missouri, Richard and wife Charlotte Stevens of St. Clair, Missouri; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Debra Lynn Dabbs Laws Jones Debra "Debbie" Lynn Dabbs Laws Jones (nee Bocardo) of Steelville, Missouri was born in Kearney, Arizona to Nacho Bocardo and Alberta Diane Brooks on August 6, 1965 and passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the age of 49 years. Debbie attended the ACTS Church of Steelville, Missouri. She always enjoyed shopping at any of the thrift stores. She is survived by her parents, Nacho Bocardo of Arizona and Alberta Diane Brooks-Bocardo of Cuba, Missouri; two sons, Justin Dabbs Laws and fianceŽ Kerry of Cherryville, Missouri and Kyle Henry Laws of Steelville, Missouri; two sisters, Michelle Messex and husband Scott of Cuba, Missouri and Lisa Schoen and husband John of Steelville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Mikie, McKenzie and Austin; special friend, Alan Laws; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri. Mildred Marie Tipton Mounce Mildred Marie (Bailey) Tipton Mounce of St. James, Missouri was born in Winkler, Missouri on February 10, 1925 to Andy Arthur and Frances (Key) Bailey and passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the age of 90 years. Mildred was first united in marriage to Virgil Tipton and to this union two daughters were born, Shirley and Sandra. Mildred worked hard all of her life doing hard labor work. She grew up in the depression so she knew what it was like to do without and to work hard for what little you did have. Mildred went to work at the Soldiers Home when she was 16 years old to help support herself and her family. Mildred later married Homer Mounce. They shared the love of bluegrass music and some of their favorite times were going to bluegrass festivals together. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in St. James, Missouri. Mildred enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family and friends. Sh was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Frances Bailey; husband, Homer Mounce on May 26, 2015; daughter, Sandra Tipton Hoffmann; her daughters' father, Virgil Tipton; brother, Morris Bailey; sister-in-law, Betty Bailey; nephew, Andy Bailey; and great-nephew, Brian Bailey. Mildred Yvonne Stricklin Mildred "Tootsie" Yvonne Stricklin (nee Williams) of Steelville, Missouri was born January 23, 1923 in Bernie, Missouri to Noland Gustavus Williams and Elise May Tanner and passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 at the age of 91 years. She was united in marriage in 1945 to William Thomas Stricklin in Keywest, Florida. Tootsie was a member of the Christian Church in Flat River, Missouri. She always enjoyed quilting, gardening and feeding the hummingbirds. She was preceded in death by her parents, Noland and Elise Williams; husband, William Thomas Stricklin; two sons, Dennis Randy Stricklin and William Joseph Stricklin; one daughter, Carolyn "Jeannie" Fishwick; two brothers, William Bloyce Williams and Delmer C. Williams; and one sister, Dale Fields and husband William Orville Fields.
