Charles Clifford Abshier
Charles Clifford Abshier of Leasburg, Missouri was born on Wednesday,
November 16, 1921 at Diehlstadt, Missouri to George L. and Nila (nee
Nicholson) Abshier and passed away Monday, June 21, 2010 at St. Louis,
Missouri at the age of 88 years 7 months and 5 days.
He was known as “Bill” by his friends, spent his life being a farmer and
he believed and practiced the Baptist faith his entire life. He enjoyed
Cardinals baseball, growing tomatoes and watching sports on TV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nila Abshier; five
sisters, Mary Elizabeth Maple, Virginia James, Kathryn Vance, Helen King
and Virginia Isgrigg; one brother, Charles Brand; other relatives and
friends.
He is survived by his niece, Sonia Carroll; nephews, Gary James, George and
wife Halbert and Wayne and wife Teresa Halbert; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at
the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Don Martin officiating. Special
music was “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Interment and prayers followed at the Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
Jennings Eugene Barnett
Jennings Eugene Barnett of Lake Ozark, Missouri was born in Iberia, Missouri
on May 3, 1918 to Owen and Della (Whittle) Barnett and passed away Saturday,
June 26, 2010 at Osage Beach Health Care Center at the age of 92 years.
He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran, a Shriner, a member of the
Masonic Lodge in Waynesville, Missouri and a member of the Iberia VFW Post
6167. He was a past member of the Dixon First Christian Church and recently
attended Montreal Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Barnett and Elzie Barnett;
one sister, Imogene Riemensnider; one infant daughter, Lisa and one
son-in-law, Robert Sooter.
He is survived by five children, Donald Barnett and wife Judy of Ft. Worth,
Texas, Sharon Sooter of Rolla, Missouri, Ricky Barnett and wife Lynn of
Florissant, Missouri, Michael Barnett and wife Melissa of Dixon, Missouri
and Jennifer Wallace and husband Mike of Kansas City, Missouri; grand-
children, Traci Sooter of Springfield, Missouri, Dana and Jim Booker of
Cuba, Missouri, Robyn Sooter of Rolla, Missouri, Pam and Debbie Barnett of
Dallas, Texas, Marnee Barger of St. Louuis, Missouri, Evan Barnett of
St. Louis, Missouri, Blake Barnett of St. Louis, Missouri and Ealtia and
EmmaLee Barnett of Dixon, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Fancher-Rekus
Funeral Home in Iberia, Missouri with Bro. Elton Dake officiating.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, June 28, 2010 at the funeral
home.
Interment with full military honors were under the direction of the Iberia
VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery
in Iberia, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia,
Missouri.
William Charles Bohrer Jr.
William Charles Bohrer Jr. was born on August 10, 1928 in Kirkwood, Missouri
to William Charles Sr. and Beatrice (Guyer) Bohrer and passed away at his
home in St. James, Missouri on Tuesday, June 22, 2010. He was 81 years,
10 months and 12 days of age.
He was united in marriage to Doris Jean Byrd on February 10, 1951 in Piggot,
Arkansas and to this union three daughters were born.
William worked as the Director of Purchasing for the City of Kirkwood for 46
years. He loved to travel a lot; go fishing on the Meramec River. He also
liked to go hunting and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Beatrice Bohrer;
one son-in-law, Donald Carter; one brother, Roy Allen Bohrer and one sister,
Marie Linsey.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Jean of St. James, Missouri; three
daughters, Debra Sue Bridges and husband Randy of Las Vegas, Nevada, Donna
Marie Parker and husband Steven of Hendrix, Oklahoma and Lisa Ann Carter of
St. James, Missouri; two sisters, Gertrude Roach of Gray Summit, Missouri
and Katherine Stendrude of Canyon County, California; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was on Friday, June 25, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at the Jones Funeral
Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 10 a.m. at
the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Ed Plants and Jerry
Baumann officiating. Music of “Amazing Grace” and “In The Garden” was
provided by Stephen Brubaker with Connie Rhea at the organ.
Pallbearers were Dean Tabor, Jason Tabor, Faron Tabor, William Byrd, Don
Vahey and Ray Ellis.
Burial, with full military honors, was in the family plot in the
St. James Cemetery in St. James, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in
St. James, Missouri.
Mary Ann Bruck
Mary Ann Bruck nee Gorczyca of Cuba, Missouri formerly of St. Charles,
Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 22, 1953 to
Anthony J. Gorczyca and Mary Katherine Richardson nee Keisker and passed
away at Stubblefield Residential Home, Cuba, Missouri on Wednesday,
June 23, 2010 at the age of 56 years, 9 months and 1 day.
Mary Ann will forever be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Gorczyca.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Katherine McLean; sons, Noel (Susan)
Fehr of Manchester, Missouri and Christopher Fehr of University City,
Missouri; brothers, Joseph (Lydia) Gorczyca of Houston, Texas, John (Barb)
Gorczyca of St. Charles, Missouri, Billy Gorczyca of St. Louis, Missouri,
Janice (John) Pearson of Green Lane, Pennsylvania and Kathy Gorczyca of
Troy, Missouri; grandchildren, Thomas, Joanna and Sarah Fehr; aunt,
Janice Saputo; uncle, Joel Keisker; other relatives and friends.
A private family visitation was held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Hutson
Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.

Carlton Eugene Gregory
Carlton Eugene Gregory of Steelville, Missouri was born October 24, 1929
in Kansas City, Missouri to Lynn and Letha (Trowbridge) Gregory and passed
away Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville, Missouri
at the age of 80 years.
On November 21, 1953 in Hernando, Mississippi, he and Hallie Sue Medley
were united in marriage and three children were born to this union.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He
attended the Assembly of God Church. Carlton worked for Brown Shoe Company
several years ago and Cominco Mines retiring from there in 1988.
When his health permitted, Carlton enjoyed woodworking and watching his
grandson in dirt track races.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Letha Gregory; one
brother, Jim Gregory; one grandson, Matthew Gregory; five sisters-in-law,
Marie Summers and husband Bill, Bessie Oliver and husband Bill, Laura Coplin
and husband Esco, Dora Midyett and husband Corbie and Gracie Medley and one
brother-in-law, Jessie Medley.
He is survived by his wife, Hallie of the home in Steelville Missouri; two
sons, Daniel Gregory of Steelville, Missouri and Steven Gregory and wife
Barbara of Watertown, Wisconsin; one daughter, Sandra Chilton and husband
Rick of Farmington, Missouri; four brothers, Calvin Gregory and wife Janice
of Mountain View, Missouri, Charlie Gregory and wife Penny of Springfield,
Missouri, Richard Dormois of Mesa, Arizona and Irvin Gregory of Gray Summit,
Missouri; four sisters, Sue Wilson and husband Barton, Rosie Clark and
husband Tom, Mary and husband Perry and Susy and husband Perk; six
grandchildren, Jeremiah Gregory, Gregory Chilton and fiancée Sara, Ashlee
Chilton, Taylor Chilton and Steven Richard Gregory; one great grandson,
Jeremiah Jr. Gregory; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri. Funeral service was held
at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home
in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Dan Hartley and Rev. John Ripley
officiating. Special music of “Beulah Land” and “I’ll Fly Away” was sung
by Eldon and Claudette Barton. Other music of “Grandpa Told Me So” and
“Go Rest High” was also played.
Committal prayer with full military honors and burial were in the Davis-
ville Cemetery in Davisville, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Greg Chilton, Kerry Summers, Sr., Justin Medley,
Larry Bridgeman, Clifford Bridgeman and J.D. Gregory.

Helen Elsie Higgins
Helen Elsie Higgins nee Troutt of Leasburg, Missouri was born on Wednesday,
August 22, 1923 in Bourbon, Missouri to Erb Vick and Gertrude Koehn Troutt
and passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010 at the age of 86 years, 9 months
and 30 days.
Helen married James Leland Higgins on February 21, 1948 in Leasburg,
Missouri and to this union one son was born.
Helen worked hard on the family farm for many years even helping Leland
bale hay. She enjoyed gardening and especially fishing. She also worked
for 17 years at Paramount Cap Factory in Bourbon as a floor lady. She was
a member of the 1st Missionary Baptist Church of Bourbon where for many
years was very active and taught Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erb and Gertrude Troutt; husband,
Leland; brother, Clive Troutt; infant sister, Evelyn Troutt; sister, Thelma
Troutt; brothers-in-law, Homer Allison, Harry Hoover, Wayne, Vernon, and
Darrell Higgins.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Patricia) Higgins of Leasburg, Missouri;
sister, Ethel Allison of Cuba, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Delores Hoover of
Sullivan, Missouri, Marie Higgins of Steelville, Missouri, Jean Higgins of
Ellisville, Missouri, Betty Higgins of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; grand-
children, Matt Higgins and Erin Higgins, both of Springfield, Missouri;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Service was Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11 a.m. at 1st Missionary
Baptist Church of Bourbon, Missouri with Rev. Larry Allison officiating.
Burial was at the Cross Roads Baptist Church, Leasburg, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
David Wayne Lawson
David Wayne Lawson was born May 29, 1950 in St. Francois County, Missouri
and passed away June 21, 2010 at Steelville, Missouri at the age of 60
years.
On August 1, 1969, David Lawson was united in marriage to Suzanne Kay
Cottrell and to this marriage two daughters were born.
David was a member of the Caledonia Assembly of God Church. He liked to
spend time with his family and especially the grandchildren. He also liked
to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernal and Leta (Stricklin) Lawson;
one sister, Sharon Lawson and one brother, Vernon Lawson.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Lawson of Steelville, Missouri; two
children, Colleen Kay Lawson Carl and husband, Michael of Steelville,
Missouri and Crystal Gail Lawson Logan and husband, Robert of Steelville,
Missouri; three brothers, Jack Lawson of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Ronnie
Lawson and wife, Chris of Viburnum, Missouri and Donald Lawson and wife,
Vickie of Salem, Missouri; one sister, Joyce Bays of Viburnum, Missouri;
four grandchildren, Olivia Carl, Michaela Carl, Joshua Logan and Emily
Logan; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was June 23, 2010 in the Wilson Mortuary (Viburnum) Chapel
with Rev. Oscar Barton officiating.
Obituary was read by Elvie Hedrick and a poem was read by granddaughter,
Michaela Carl. Music was by The Chosen Generation.
Pallbearers were Michael Carl, Robert Logan, Jack, Ronnie, and Donald
Lawson, and Dennis Bays. Joshua Logan was an honorary pallbearer.
Interment was in the Boss Cemetery.

Robert Perry Marcee
Robert “Bob” Marcee of Mineral Point, Missouri was born on Friday,
October 29, 1926 in Steelville, Missouri to Charles and Dorothy (Wallis)
Marcee and passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the age of 83 years,
7 months and 25 days.
Robert was united in marriage Maurie Rose Torlina on June 14, 1986 at
their home.
Robert served in the United States Army enlisting on October 11, 1945 and
was honorably discharged on December 14, 1946.
Robert was employed at King Dodge for 45 years where he worked as an auto
mechanic and always enjoyed working on cars on the side for many years. He
was a member of the Frank Clay Assembly of God Church. He also enjoyed
watching all types of western shows and movies, watching the animal
channel, going fishing, camping and to auctions. He loved spending time
with people and all of his pets especially Poncho and traveling from state
to state.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Marcee; by his
first wife, Wilma (Williams) Marcee; one daughter, Linda Louis Marcee; two
sons, Robert “Bobby” Eugene Marcee and William “Billy” Joseph Marcee; one
sister, Bonnie Wallace; two step sisters, Katherine Chandler and Stella King;
one brother, Frank Marcee; one grandson, Brian Casey Jones; one great
grandson, Kristopher Dewayne Ketcherside; other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Maurie Rose Macree of Mineral Point, Missouri;
four daughters, Barbara Rodriquez and husband, Lou of Bismarck, Missouri,
Charlotte Sweet and husband, Dale of Stoney Point, Missouri, Bonnie Hedrick
of Lake Hanna, Missouri and Rita Lahr of St. Louis, Missouri; five sons,
Kenneth Marcee and wife, Alberta of Mineral Point, Missouri, David Marcee
of Potosi, Missouri, Danny Marcee and wife, Nita of Irondale, Missouri,
Terry Marcee of St. Louis, Missouri, Charles Marcee and wife, Patty of
Bismarck, Missouri; two step sons, Randy Schroeer and wife, Leila of
Mineral Point, Missouri and Billy Schroeer and wife, Katy of Stoney Point,
Missouri; 23 grandchildren; 14 step grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren;
nine step great grandchildren; one step great great-grandchild; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 5-9 p.m. and Friday,
June 25, 2010 from 9-11 a.m. at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
Funeral service was held Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Moore
Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Guy Conway officiating.
Pallbearers were Dustin Hedrick, Tim Glore, Steve Torlina, Weston Carron,
R.W. Schroeer and Brandon Jones.
Final prayers and burial was in the Steelville City Cemetery, Steelville,
Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi,
Missouri.
Herbert H. Ruwwe
Herbert H. Ruwwe of rural Sullivan, Missouri was born on August 27, 1921
to August and Josephine (Kleager) Ruwwe and passed away Friday,
June 18, 2010 at the age of 88 years.
Herb, as he was known by his family and friends, lived his entire life on
the family farm where he too, farmed and raised cattle. He honorably served
his country during WWII with the U.S. Army K-9 Corps and attained the rank
of Sergeant. He saw action in the European-African Middle Eastern Theater
and was awarded a Bronze Battle Star. After his discharge, Herb came back
to the farm where he became a respected mentor to many other farmers in the
area. He was known as a “handy” neighbor and had patience in everything.
Herb was also the trustee of Argo Cemetery for many years and a member of
Old Argo Presbyterian Church.
On April 13, 1983 he was united in marriage to Mary Louise VanHouten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Josephine Ruwwe; a
sister, Velma Law and a step-son, Mark Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise of the family home; three step-sons,
Monte Miller of Mesa, Arizona, Jeff Miller of Louisville, Kentucky and Mike
Miller of Savannah, Georgia; one sister, Beatrice Schweer of Owensville,
Missouri; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; other relatives
and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2010 from the
Old Argo Presbyterian Church with Pastor Don Kratz officiating.
Interment with full military honors was in Argo Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
