Barlet Jr. of Cuba, Missouri was born Sunday, March 10, 1940 at Chicago, Illinois to Louis T. Sr. and Alta Beulah (nee Carter) Barlet and passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the age of 80 years. Louis married Doris McElfresh on May 29, 1958 at the First Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri. Louis worked as a welder, machinist and ending his career as a supervisor for Flemings in Cuba, Missouri. He retired in 2006 after nearly 40 years of dedicated service. Louis was able to create anything. If he saw a tool in a magazine, he would create the tool instead of spending hundreds of dollars for it. He spent hours thinking about how to solve a problem and then he would solve it. Everything he did had to be perfect or it wouldn't work. The hours, days and years that he spent in his shop woodworking was enjoyed by everyone. He made picnic tables, picture frames, signs, puzzles, cedar chest, bunk beds and many more items. Each spring was spent planting a gardening. In his younger years in enjoyed playing pool and bowling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Sr. and Alta Barlet; and one sister, Jacqueline and husband Dwayne Leasor. Brand (nee Martin) of Cuba, Missouri was born on April 17, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri to Fred Franklin and Martha Caroline (Setzer) Martin and passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 4 days. Charlotte grew up in Cherryville, Missouri. She married Joe Richard Brand in Advance, Missouri on December 3, 1960. She accepted the Lord as her Savior and attended Assembly of God Church in Steelville, Missouri. Charlotte drove a school bus for a couple of years when her children were young. She trained as a florist and worked in that profession in Salem, Missouri for a short time. She then attended beauty school and owned and operated her own salon for over 30 years in Steelville, Missouri and Cuba, Missouri. Her hobbies included horseback riding, jewelry making, sewing, crocheting and knitting. She made necklaces, bracelets, houseshoes, afghans, scarves, hats, etc. for her family and friends. She also loved working outside with her flowers, especially light blue morning glories. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Martha Martin; step father, Wayne Wright; husband, Joe Brand; mother-in-law, Hazel (Roy) Hutson; father-in-law, Floy (Ozella) Brand; son, Kelly Joe Brand; granddaughter, Natalie Faith Brand; brother, Stanley (Berneal) Martin; and brother-in-law, Jerry (Carol) Brand. Coffman Jr. was born on May 23, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri to James L. and Ora Fay Padgett Coffman and passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020 at the age of 81 years. He grew up in Salem, Missouri where he spent the majority of his life. He attended high school at Wentworth Military Academy and went on to attend college at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois where he obtained a degree in business. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Episilon Fraternity and served as president. After college he returned to Salem, Missouri where he spent his career as owner and operator of Roberts-Judson Lumber Company and Concessionaire with Mary of Montauk State Park for 20 years. After returning to Salem, Missouri James married Mary (Hart) Coffman on September 23, 1967. James loved and served his community well and was involved in a great many organizations, committees and boards including The Bank of Salem, Rotary, Shriners, Royal Order of Jesters, the Masonic Lodge, Salem Community Betterment Association, Developmental Disabilities Board, Salem Housing Authority, Senate Bill 40 Board, and Meramec Regional Planning Commission. He retired as a Lieutenant-Colonel from the Missouri Army National Guard after serving over 28 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Ora Faye Coffman; brother, Robert Coffman; and son-in-law, Captain Benton Zettel. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary; daughters, Elizabeth Breidecker and husband Rob, Caroline Snider and husband Brandon and Molly Zettel; nine grandchildren, Abbie and husband Matt Woolf, Matt Russell, Joe Breidecker, Emma Breidecker, Kennedy Snider, Ben Snider, Tyler Breidecker, James B. Elrod of Cuba, Missouri was born on Tuesday, November 19, 1929 in Vienna, Missouri to William "Bill" and Catherine (nee Franklin) Elrod and passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the age of 90 years. Lawrence married Marlene Cox on Tuesday, November 7, 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas. Lawrence graduated from Belle High School and then went on to graduate from Lincoln University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1949 to June 1951. After many years of teaching English to high school students, Lawrence retired from Crawford County RII School District. After retirement, Lawrence went back to work as a salesman for Jim's Motors and he retired the second time at the age of 70. He was a longtime member and Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri. He enjoyed spending time and playing pool at the Cuba Senior Center. He was a lifetime fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Mission work was something Lawrence enjoyed most. He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Catherine Elrod; two sisters, Opal and husband Barry Keeney and Imogene and husband Hale Keeney; and two brothers, Elmer Elrod and Clyde and wife Margie Elrod. Dean Graddy Dean Graddy of Sullivan, Missouri, formerly of Bourbon, Missouri, was born on Thursday, September 12, 1940 in Bourbon, Missouri to Allen Rufus and Ruth J. Pratt Graddy and passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 12 days. Dean served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He married Pearlie M. Litaker on May 11, 1963 in Champaign, Illinois. He worked more than 20 years and retired as a heavy equipment operator for Pearidge Mines. He later worked in heating/cooling and as an electrician for Fairway Service in Bourbon, Missouri. He was a member of the Lasting Hope Assembly of God Church in Bourbon and served as a deacon for many years. He was President of the Planning and Zoning Committee and volunteered at the food pantry in Bourbon, Missouri. His hobbies were gardening, cutting wood, hunting rabbits and squirrels. Dean was friendly and never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Ruth Graddy; wife, Pearlie M. Jerry Hodorowski Jerry Hodorowski of Rolla, Missouri was born May 9, 1940 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to John and Irene Jerzakowski Hodorowski and passed away Friday, June 19, 2020 at the age of 80 years. He married Bonnie Schroeder on July 15, 1967 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jerry served in the Air Force Reserves at General Billy Mitchell Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; he was activated for the Cuban Crisis in 1962. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Marquette University. He worked for three years with the U.S. Forest Service in Wisconsin and 23 years with the U.S. Geological Survey in Rolla, MO as part of the Human Relations department. He retired from USGS in May 1994. He was kind and caring to everyone that he met and he loved to share the gospel with people whenever situations lent the time. Being a New Testament Christian, he wanted everyone to return to the practice of simple New Testament Christianity found only in the Bible. His favorite verse of scripture was Acts 17:11. He was an active member of the St. James Church of Christ. He loved traveling across the United States, especially to Tennessee to visit his family for birthdays. He enjoyed music and Mozart and bluegrass were his favorites. He spent many hours reading. Religous, American and European history were his favorite topics to research. Daily walks with Bonnie amongst the beauties of nature, God's creation, filled his retirement years with many hours of pleasure. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene Hodorowski; and one sister, Sharon Wilinski. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Rolla, Missouri; two daughters, Paula Priester and husband Rod of Arlington, Tennessee and Peggy Jones of Memphis, Tennessee; sister, Rita Milosch and husband Eugene of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, David Wilinski; grandchildren, Caitlin Priester, Madie Jones, Connor Priester and Aaron Jones; other relatives and friends. "Bill" Maddox Jr. William H. "Bill" Maddox Jr. of Cuba, Missouri was born on June 1, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri to William H. and Alpha (Pryor) Maddox Sr. and passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the age of 67 years. Bill served in the United States Army Reserves and was a member of Faith Chapel. Prior to his retirement, he was the manager of Hocker Oil in Cuba, Missouri. He also had worked at St. James Winery and Super 8 Motel. He enjoyed playing computer games, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Alpha Maddox Sr.; and one brother, James Maddox. He is survived by his fianceŽ, Lois Brush of the home; four children, William H. and wife Tanja Maddox III of Grants Pass, Oregon, Quentin and wife Tiffany Maddox, Rosa Brush and Sara and husband William Tindall all of Cuba, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Christina, William and Kayden Maddox, Austin Williams, Michael, Ryan and Khylie Maddox; two sisters, Diane Fouty of Salem, Missouri, Elaine Mallory of Oxnard, California; three brothers Richard Maddox of Delaware, Jimmy O'Dell of Graham, Texas, Jerry O'Dell; other relatives and friends. Herschel Albert Martin Herschel Albert Martin of O'Fallon, Missouri was born December 15, 1928 in Davisville, Missouri to Claude and Effie Louis Harris Martin and passed away Tuesday June 23, 2020 at the age of 91 years. Herschel married Betty Flanagan on October 9, 1955 in St. James, Missouri, He retired as a senior engineer for Boeing Aircraft in St. Louis, Missouri and was a veteran with the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge Quantico, Virginia on June 20, 1951. Herschel enjoyed hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. Herschel and his wife Betty attended the Baptist Church during their 64 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Betty Martin of O'Fallon, Missouri; one sister, Mary Turnbough of Pevely, Missouri; nieces and great nieces, Connie Donaldson (Jim), Cheryl Ellis (Jim), Tammy Burchell (Tom) and Erica Mosher (Ryan); other relatives and friends. Gary Russell Schmidt Gary Russell Schmidt was born July 14, 1934 in Sullivan, Missouri to Russell and Ruth Edith (nee Shoults) Schmidt and passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the age of 85 years. Gary received his education at Sullivan High School. He married Margie (nee Lockhart) on October 1954 in Sullivan, Missouri and the couple made their home in Union, Missouri. Gary served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. Following his service, he was employed by Southwestern Bell as a manager, until retirement. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a Mason and a member of Franklin County Country Club. Gary enjoyed golfing, fishing, taking long walks every day, and socializing with his many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Schmidt on December 15, 2010; his parents, Edith and Russell Schmidt; and one sister, Patricia Blanton and husband James.
