He passed away suddenly Saturday, June 21, 2008 in a motorcycle accident at the age of 45 years. On June 20, 1988, he was united in marriage to Pennie L. Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, James E. Brooks and Michael Guy Brooks. He is survived by his wife; four brothers, Danny Brooks of Cook Station, Missouri, Les Brooks of Boone Terre, Missouri, Darrell Brooks and Tony Brooks of Cherryville, Missouri; two sisters, Wanda Stegall of Steelville, Missouri and Jamia Sharp of Salem, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the Bell Funeral Home Sumiton, Sumiton, Alabama. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2008 in the New Home Cemetery at Cherryville, Missouri. Bill Moss led the service with scripture and prayer. Local arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Lydia M. Dickey Lydia M. Dickey was born January 29, 1920 to Flem and Mary Deaton. She passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the age of 88 years. She married Cartha R. Dickey who preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Dorlis Deaton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Deloris Amanda Echols Deloris Amanda Echols of St. James, Missouri passed away Monday, June 23, 2008 at Frene Valley Healthcare South in Owensville Missouri at the age of 85 years. Deloris was born in Namioki, Illinois on March 21, 1923 to Dorse and Nellie (Beacock) Cason. On May 2, 1942 in Crawford County she was united in marriage to Phillip Echols. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Bourbon, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband; three children, Leslie Hubert Echols, Michael Joseph Echols and Jerry Alton Echols; brother, Tom Cason and sister, Marcella Goodman. Nancy Lee Nowack Nancy Lee Nowack of Owensville, Missouri passed away Monday, June 23, 2008 at St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City, Missouri at the age of 67 years. Nancy was born in St. Louis on July 15, 1940 to Richard Vector and Eunice (Newbound) Smith. On October 24, 1959 in Owensville, Missouri she was united in marriage to Ranzo Nowack. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Elizabeth “Bess Ann” Treece. Leona Bernice Sexton Leona Bernice Sexton of Steelville, Missouri was born March 30, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri to Harvey and Alice (Price) Rolf. She passed away Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 84 years. On October 5, 1946, she was united in marriage to Robert Sexton who preceded her in death on March 24, 1999. Leona was an accomplished artist. Her works were represented in many states and had been judged and juried by many professionals. She had been awarded over 100 prizes, regional, state, national and international in her long career. Some of her works were “Hand Shadows” book of poetry, Library of Congress, “Gabriel’s Children” co-artist, carton (C), co-founded Steelville Artist Guild, 1967, Steelville city flag designed, 1966 and had taught art for many years. A few of her collectors were Phyllis Diller, comedian; Pope Cafeteria Family; Thomas Hiensohm, Boston Celtic basketball; and many others. Along with her love of art, she enjoyed walking as often as she could. Leona was a member of the First Baptist Church of Steelville, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one infant brother. She is survived by two sons, Robert Sexton IV and wife Sheri of Rolla, Missouri and Stephen Sexton and wife Vicki of Steelville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Angela Sexton, Drayton Sexton and wife Tammy and Lucas Sexton and wife Kelly; five step grandchildren, Anna Davis, Angie Weddle, Joe Brown, Justin Ray and Amber Jean Taylor; seven great grandchildren, Trey, Stephanie, Kylee, Lydia, Drew, Megan and Brooklyn Sexton; other relatives and friends. Sherman of Rochester, New York formerly of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of the late Dillard A. and Mabel (Fritz) Gibson on July 29, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Wesley Gardens in Rochester, New York at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 16 days. Deloris was united in marriage to William “Bill” M. Sherman, Jr. on November 17, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union three children were born. Dee and Bill shared 53 years of marriage together. Dee and Bill retired in 1988 and moved to Cuba, Missouri and made there home at Indian Hills Lake. She was a member of Cuba United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one son, William M. Sherman, III. She is survived by a son, Robert and wife Barbara Sherman of Apache Junction, Arizona; daughter, Dr. Barbara Heifferon of Rochester, New York; daughter-in- law, Susan Sherman Sellers of Owensville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Walker Bruce Alan Walker of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday, September 29, 1942 at Claremore, Oklahoma to the union of Luther and Augustine (nee Spitto) Walker and passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 25 days. Bruce served in the United States Marine Corps from 28 June 1960 until 30 December 1963. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Valley on August 12, 1966 at St. Louis, Missouri and to this union six children were born. Bruce worked as a laborer most of his life. He started out working for Daisy BB Gun Company for a few years before going to Crane Company. He worked at Emerson Electric in Rogers, Arkansas and he also drove a truck for Willy Shaw Company. He completed his career at Dana Brake Company, Cuba, Missouri. Bruce was a full-blooded American Indian. His father came from the Sac & Fox Nation Tribe located in Claremore, Oklahoma and his mother came from the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Tribe located in Mayeta, Kansas. In his spare time he enjoyed following his family heritage by making Indian crafts, necklaces and dream catchers. He enjoyed fishing, working crossword puzzles, his toy poodle “Lady Bug” and playing baseball with his wife and kids when they were young. He was preceded in death by his parents; three children, Merry Augustine, Donald Alan and Matthew Joseph Walker; one granddaughter, Nicole Walker; other relatives and friends.
